Arthur stopped the man from closer, but Guinevère did not stop backing up. When Arthur ran to her and pulled her up she was grateful but standing up and loosing the cover of the covers she felt more then exposed! Before anything could happen, Kolby and the others seemed to be back on their feet and Kolby fired again, this time it missed him; but before the magician could knock them down, Kolby ducked behind the wall for cover. Not wanting an arrow in his back the magician was trying to focus on the three knights rather then the unarmed prince.
Guinevère was not trained in warfare but even she knew this seemed a desperate act on his part! He's played games with them for days and no one could catch him and now suddenly he was here and not running from arrows and men!? Something had pushed him to this!
Feeling the fire at her back she looked behind her and froze. There above the fire place was the Pendragon seal in it's full glory! Behind it, was two swords crossed to make it stand as a header for the fire rather then for use. Still . . .
"Arthur!" She whispered, while looking up at them, hoping he would see what she saw with out drawing attention to them! "Your shield!" If he could get the sword and shield then he could try to get to the man! She didn't want him to but Arthur was the best, and she knew that being the best was a curse and a gift. She also knew that when he went for the shield and sword that she was going to dive under the bed!

Arthur kept his eye on the sorcerer, while watching the three knights. They were trying to fight him but with his ability to use magic and unfamiliar tactics against them . . . it was difficult. Arthur didn't want any harm to come to them, nor Guinevère which was why he was finding it difficult to move away from her right now. At least with her so close he knew she was safe. When he heard her say his name, he turned his head a bit to look at her, following her line of sight which rested on a sword and shield mounted above the fire place. He had been so distracted with everything that he had not even thought of it! He looked forward again, noticing that the sorcerer's attention was diverted as he focused on the three knights rather than the person he had really come here for: Guinevère. "Take cover," he told her in a low voice. Whether it was behind the desk or under the bed, she needed to be somewhere that would provide her with some sort of protection.
With that he reached for the sword and shield, having to pull it down a few times before he managed to force it off the wall. He kept the sword firmly in one hand, and grasped the sword twisting his wrist so that the weapon sort of turned in a circle. He began to creep up on the enemy, who's back was turned to him thanks to the other knights in the room. When he was closer to the sorcerer, he quickly turned to see the king behind him. Arthur held up the shield and pushed him back, preventing him from performing any sort of magic. He lowered the shield a bit so that he could swing at the sorcerer, but he grabbed the candle stick that had been on the table and began blocking his blows. Arthur could tell he was trying to buy some time, just a few seconds so that he could cast a spell, but he was going to make sure he wasn't even able to say one word! He kept swinging, as the man kept blocking. There were only a couple more swings before Arthur decided he needed to end this.
The sorcerer may be skilled in the art of magic, but when it came to combat, he was clearly an amateur and had little to no training. Arthur swing his sword at him and when the sorcerer blocked it with the candle stick, Arthur used his shield to hit his hand hard, enough to send his makeshift weapon flying to the side. Now, he was completely defenseless, completely vulnerable, and that's when Arthur swiftly lowered the shield and immediately ran his sword right through the sorcerer's chest. The sorcerer's eyes widened feeling the full impact of the weapon that would undoubtedly kill him. Unfortunately, there was just enough life left him him to raise his hand and use magic to send Arthur flying back across the room -- against the wall . . . again. He then looked for the girl, and murmured a few words before he collapsed to the ground, dead. Arthur was not unconscious, but as before, he was disorientated.

When Arthur went for his sword, Guinevère went to the bed and quickly got under it. She moved until she was near the middle but could still see everything going on. . . Or the bottom half of it. She saw Arthur's feet fly across the room at one point and she screamed his name "Arthur!" Then the evil man feel to the ground. Guinevère looked into his face and his eyes. She thought she would be used to death by now, but it appeared she never would. Hurrying out from under the bed--only this time from the other side of it.
"Arthur!" She cried out, running to where he was on the ground and placing her hands on his cheeks--just as she did in his mother's chambers. "Arthur please!" The same words echoed, and Guinevère feared for a moment that everything would be repeated. Just as it happened that day, the first two had been yells, and her last one came out a whisper, "Arthur!? Please be alright!" She needed him, she needed him in her life and needed to have him whole and with her. Needed his strength and . . . . love! She needed his love above everything.

Arthur took a few additional moments, keeping his eyes closed to just rest them and totally regain his composure. It wasn't until he heard her panic that he slowly opened his eyes and sat up, his legs sprawled out in front of him. She had her hands on his cheeks, her soft touch of the utmost comfort. Not totally oblivious to what had just happened, his eyes went to the sorcerer. He was either dead, or unconscious. Either way, they would be able to deal with him accordingly for if he was the latter . . . he would not be waking up for a while. Finding solace in that fact, he turned his head to look at Guinevère. His gaze was expressionless, purposely making it unreadable. His brows slightly furrowed in curiosity as he just looked at her. "Who are you?" He asked in a low voice. He let the question linger in the air for only a few moments -- not cruel enough to cause her distress.
So before she could fully react or give answer, his lips curved into a smile and a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. Just so that there was no doubt, he leaned forward to kiss her, putting his hand partly on her cheek and partly on the back of her head to draw her closer. The kiss was filled with love, relief and every other emotion that was drawn out from recent events. He slowly ended the kiss though kept his forehead against hers for a few moments. "It's over." It was all over. The sorcerer would no longer be a threat to them. They had conquered this attack on their relationship -- as it was not the first and regrettably, would not be the last. But their love always proved to get them through it. Just as it always would. For nothing was strong enough to destroy the love he had for her, and the love she had for him.

Guinevère watched him, feeling the panic rise in her."Who are you?" Who was she?! Guinevère looked at him with--Then he smiled and she knew he was only teasing her! She knew she should be angry but she could only smile brightly and pretend to glare. "Arth--" he kissed her and everything just felt right! "It's over." "No, it's not." She whispered, basking in their joy of having everything frightening be done, but not this. "This is only the beginning!" But she did not mean the evil, but their love. Moving to kiss him again, Guinevère knew nothing could ever come between them again . . . . .

Thank you for reading Forget Me Not. For the ones who wish to know the idea for Forget-Me-Not came when Duchess was singing her beloved niece to sleep one night with a song from the movie Anastasia. The song was Once Upon A December. Arthur's layout hold another Disney song, from Pocahontas--If I never knew you.
This was our first long and detailed plot that we took months pouring planning and writing into. We hope that you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed writing it. If you read more of our works, you will notice little nods to this plot in them. (Such as in Guilty Pleasures Guinevère looks is arranging Forget-Me-Nots in the layout I use).
Stay tuned for Book Two below: Where Arthur memory once again gets attacked. Only this time they do not seek to just take his memory of Guinevère away, but take him back t one of the most painful times in their relationship. One moment, he was planning a hunting trip with his wife-to-be Mithian, and the next moment he opens his eyes to pure chaos and child . . . . . [Book One is in dedication to my drear friend 'Euphoria' or 'Am' or 'Arthur'. For without them I would not know who Merlin the show was, nor love any of it's characters. Am, you are the most madding, chaotic persona I have ever met and I am not sure if I should love you or kill you some days! Please never leave me for I am enjoying every moment.] ((The gifs above were made by Euphoria1001, and can be found HERE on her Tumblr art blog.))

'Get up! Get up!' The little girl of age six yelled as she shook the full grown man on the floor who was not waking up. 'Get up! HELP! Get up!' Tears poured over her cheeks, as she shook him so hard but she was so small--even for her age--that she did not even manage to lift him an inch. 'Get up! Please!' Her eyes were not on the man on the ground whom did not move, but on the other man in the room. He was pushing up off the ground, and lifting his sword. 'HELP!' She yelled, 'PLEASE!'
Another entered the room, a boy of ten who looked much like the girl only his hair was full of curl were her's was straighter with only a wave to it. His eyes were honeyed browned, were as her's were bright blue. "No!" He yelled, running forward to the girl and blond man she clung too. He lifted the sword, ready to defend the man who could not wake to defend himself. "Run Anna! Get help!" 'I wont leave you!' She cried as she watched him. "Get help!" The boy yelled, just as the man lifted his sword to bring down the blow.

Arthur heard a distant voice urging him to wake up, yet his entire body and mind seemed to protest. Everything sounded so distant and muffled, even though part of him knew that he was right near the source of the sound. He gave a slight groan, moved his head to the side a bit . . . hearing another voice join in. Who they were? He had no idea. What they were saying? He hadn't a clue. All he knew was that something in him was demanding that he open his eyes . . . and he heeded to this bizarre instinct. When he did open his eyes, the first thing he saw was a sword about to be swung at a dark haired child. That was all he could make out. Arthur's reflexes of years long training of being a warrior kicked in and he quickly moved forward, pushing the boy aside before the blade could make any contact with him. Arthur didn't yet bother looking to see who else was in the room. Instead, he scrambled to his feet, staggering to the side as the hurried motion made him feel all the more disorientated. The attacker did not yet seem done, and Arthur dodged another lunge toward him from the armed man.
The young king looked around, not taking long to realize that he had a sword in his sword belt. Perfect! He pulled it out --- WOW! It really was perfect! This wasn't his sword . . . it was magnificent, it was . . . in that moment, Arthur instinctively raised it and blocked another blow. The blade was flawless, the weight of it seemed perfectly suited to him, as did the grip. Right! Back to the task at hand. Arthur knew that his dizziness was hindering his movement, but thanks to the incredible blade in his hand . . . he was able to quickly regain the upper-hand. This time, he lunged forward, initiating the attack, it was blocked from one angle, at which point Arthur turned his body to the side, using his weight from his shoulder and arm to shove the man backwards. He was pushed against the table, waved the sword in the air and in that moment . . . Arthur inserted the sword into his chest, causing a swift and quick death. Taking a few moments to realize what happened, Arthur withdrew his blade from the man, looking at the corpse on the ground.
It did not linger too long however, because he seemed to recall that there were children in the room. He hated showing this kind of violence in front of a young child, but there was no alternative. He turned around about to ask if they were alright, when what he saw caused him to stagger backwards, his back hitting the edge of the table, nearly tripping over the body -- but managing to catch his balance. He saw a pair of bright blue eyes widely staring at him. There was . . . something strongly familiar about those blue eyes. Something strongly familiar about the girl! His gaze then shifted to the boy . . . who -- with the exception of his eyes -- also looked oddly familiar. What was it about these two children? They reminded him of someone! "Where is your mother?" He asked, wondering why these two children had strayed so far from their parents. Whoever they were, they needed to get back to them . . . and he would of course help them find their mother and father once more.

The children sat there, the elder boy trying to force the younger girl to look away. Yet him himself would not look from the fight. Finally it was done, and the king walked toward them. The girl looked up at him, tears pouring out as she was clearly frightened. "Where is your mother?" The girl pushed from the ground and ran tom him, clinging to his leg tightly, trying to gesture that he lift her to his arms.
It was the boy who spoke, 'Her carriage was spotted in the drive. Anna was supposed to come tell you, but then she started screaming and I came to find her.' He admitted, giving away the girl's name as Anna. "Who was that bad man? Why did he say funny words that made you go to sleep?" Anna asked him, finally speaking, 'I was scared! I thought he would kilt you!' "Killed," The boy corrected, though it seemed absent mindedly. He was looking at the body, rather then the girl. 'No killing!'

The girl was clinging to his leg. Why was a girl clinging to his leg? Arthur wasn't quite sure what to do, and felt his entire body stiffen with awkwardness. He didn't have an aversion to children . . . but nor did he understand why they were so, friendly with him. When he had never seen them before in his entire life! Yet, the girl was holding onto his leg -- as if that would give her comfort. And . . . wait, why were they in his chambers?! What time was it! Judging from the candles and lack of light from the window, it was night. Why were their children in his room late at night?! Why did this children talk to him as if they knew him?! Perhaps they were just grateful for him having stopped the man from hurting them? Yes. That must be it. He looked down at the girl, noticing that she put her hands up . . . as if she wanted him to hold her?! Instead, Arthur just put his hand, palm flat, on the top of her head. She was so small. She looked so delicate. Arthur found himself only able to just stare at her . . . until the boy spoke.
The king looked toward the boy now, taking in his features and finding that odd familiarity about him. It was, unsettling in a way. For he felt as if he should know them. Yet had no recollection of either of them. That was when the name registered. Anna. The name that Arthur and Guinevère had planned to give their daughter. It was a painful reminder of her actions . . . of how he would never have a child of that name. For he was to wed Mithian. And any children he had with her, he could not use the names he and Guinevère had chosen for their hypothetical children. Arthur tried to force such pained thoughts out of his mind, though they were never out of his heart. He wasn't sure how to process all of this . . . what to make of it . . . looking at the boy and girl and ---- THAT was when it hit him. The children. The familiarity about them. Their dark skin. The name Anna. Elyan. They must be Elyan's children! Had he gotten married during his four year's absence?!
Or had the woman who carried his children had just come and found him?! Elyan! YES! Now it all made sense. It also explained why they seemed to be close to the king . . . they must have heard Elyan speak of him. While it did not explain the girl's bright blue eyes . . . perhaps that was something he would understand after seeing their mother. "I'm not sure who this man was, or why he wanted to hurt any of us. But you need not worry about him. He's not going to hurt you." Damn it Elyan! Where the hell was he?! Perhaps greeting the woman who had brought his children into this world? After all, the boy had just said that her carriage was spotted. "Come, lets find your mother." And father. Arthur attempted to take a step forward, but noticed that Anna was not letting go of his leg. "Do not be afraid Anna, you are safe now." So she could let go of his leg so he could take the girl and boy back to their parents.

"I'm not sure who this man was, or why he wanted to hurt any of us. But you need not worry about him. He's not going to hurt you." The elder boy nodded and tried to look from the body. It was another few moments before he could and when he did it was to his sister. She was clearly frightened. 'Stop crying, Anna, everything is alright now.' The boy called.
"Do not be afraid Anna, you are safe now." The king encouraged, putting his hand on her. Yet she still tried to get him to hold her. 'Hold me! I am scared! I want Mama!' She cried and the boy seemed to be waiting for the king t lift the girl. "I am going down without you! I am going to send the knights up too!" The boy called out before turning to hurry toward the door. 'NO!' Jumping slightly toward the king she bounced up and down. 'No let Amaren go without me! Take me too!' She begged in a teary voice, 'Papa please!' Anna cried out, seeming unaware she had given two of the final details about who they were.
Amaren and Anna Pendragon.
Just then Amaren stopped and stepped backwards as one of the knights entered the room. A younger man, and new to the ranks, 'Sire, the queens carriage as entered the city and will . . . be . . . . What happened here?!" 'Did you not hear the yelling?!" 'Papa, hold me!' "HOW did you not hear the yelling for help! Why did not one come?" 'Papa I want you to hold me!' "Papa is the best fighter in the kingdom!" 'Carry me, Papa!' "Arn't you Papa!" 'Papa!' "Papa!" 'Sire?'

Even though the man was dead, there was still so much chaos. He didn't understand anything! Well, apart from his realization that these children were Elyan's. But why did Anna want him to hold her? They had never met before! Why was the boy expectant of it? Did Anna always ask strange men she had never met before to pick her up when she was scared? Arthur was not going to deny that she was absolutely precious. But . . . she was not his child. She was not his daughter. So she should find her fath---"Papa please!" What. Did. She. Just. Say? Arthur looked around to see if Elyan had somehow miraculously make it into the room. But no. She was looking right up at Arthur, bouncing up and down, holding her arms out for him to pick her up . . . calling him Papa. Who? What? Where? WHO?! He could not find any words to say. His mind didn't know how to process what she was saying to him. Papa. Papa who?! Not him. Surely not him. She was confused. So very confused.
That was when her previous words registered in his mind. Amaren. Anna. Papa. Amaren. No. No no no . . . NO. What was this madness?! He didn't have children! He was getting married soon not . . . he was not going to be a father! These were NOT his children! Yet he knew that the denial only went so far. Deep down. Deep deep DEEP down he realized why they looked so familiar. He realized why her eyes were so bright and blue. And why they were such beautiful children: cause of their mother. Because of . . . "Sire." OH! Now THERE was a title he understood! Yet the man who said it, he did not recognize. Sire! Yes! A title he was familiar with. Not Papa. Sire. He just stared at the man as if he had horns growing out from the side of his head. It had nothing to do with him . . . it had to do with . . . Papa. Being called Papa. Queen?! What queen! He wasn't married! He wasn't a father! Oh bloody hell! As if Arthur thought he was dizzy when he first awoke, he was a million times more dizzy now.
The world spun around him as he took a staggering step back. And in that moment, seemed to realize that everyone was staring at him. Papa. Papa. Sire. Papa. Papa. Sire. Queen. Papa. What was going on?! He was a father? He was a husband? Camelot had a queen?! His mind could not wrap around any of this, though he obviously knew who the queen was. And it was not Mithian. This was a dream. Yes. The only logical explanation for any of this. He took another staggered and disoriented step back, putting his hand out in front of him as if that would stop all these figments of his imagination. All these delusions; hallucinations. "Wake me up," he whispered breathlessly in a hardly audible voice, for the shock of all this had left him winded. He needed someone to wake him up from this dream. Because . . . this could not be real. He took yet another step back, tripping on the lifeless body, managing to catch his balance at the table, though that shifted a bit back too. He could only just stare at all of them . . . not sure what to do or say while he waited for someone to wake him the hell up!

The watched as Arthur stared at them for long moments, that dragged on and on. Anna kept crying out to him but no one else moved. Eventually Arthur put his hand forward and spoke. "Wake me up," That seemed to make the young knight move. 'Sire have you need injured?' Then he looked back at Amaren, 'Was he injured?' 'An--Anna said the man man said funny words that made Papa go to sleep.' The knight moved forward slowly, and the when he was close tot he king, bent and pulled Anna back, lifting her in his arms and away from the king.
Which only made her kick and scream and beg for her Papa. 'What's wrong?' Amaren asked, but the knight only pulled him back too as he moved to the door, Anna still screaming for her Papa. 'Sire, i will send up someone to tend to this mess and to you ask well.' And with that he pulled the children from the room.
Down below, in the court yard, Guinevère Pendragon was held from the carriage by her brother, and she took his arm as they walked into the castle. They had gone to visit their parent's graves and she was greatly looking forward to going to bed and sleeping in her husband's comforting arms.

Was he injured? No. He was just in a dream! And he needed to wake up, right away. It was Amaren's words that caused him to pause however. The young boy had said them before and it was only now that Arthur's mind had processed them. Funny words . . . that made him fall asleep. Magic. It was an enchantment. It had to be! Of what sort, he didn't know. An alternate reality perhaps? That had to have been it. For he was to marry Mithian. This was not the first time he had been left confused and panicked. Another enchantment had once struck him . . . one that had threatened his relationship with Guinevère. He'd lost his memory and it eventually returned to him . . . but this, could not be his life. How could it be? It made no sense! Hearing Anna -- his daughter -- cry and protest made Arthur realize that whatever was happening, he could not worry the children. Not until he figured this out.
"Wait," he called to the knight before he was out of sight. Arthur slowly approached her. This time, with less hesitation but still confusion. He looked at Anna, knowing that whatever this was . . . she should not shed tears because of it. And because of that, he forced the next words out of his mouth. "Papa just needs to take care of some things. Then I will come see you." She may be asleep by then, but he was only saying it because . . . he could not bare to hear her cry. Whatever was going on . . . he planned to have it fixed by tonight. So that he could return to the real world, and not this dream type place he had entered. He then looked to the knight. "I do not need a physician. But send someone to clean up." Meaning, to pick up the body. And with that, let the knight and his 'children' go. Once they were gone, Arthur closed the door and rushed to the body. He searched the pockets for something, anything! Any sign of who he was and what orders he was given. If he was a sorcerer . . . he needed to find a way to reverse this spell.

"Wait," The knight paused and watched as the king approached. Everyone had grown silent, even Anna, while waiting for his reaction. "Papa just needs to take care of some things. Then I will come see you." That seemed to ease the knights and Amaren's face but Anna only starred at him. Tears still on her cheeks. "I do not need a physician. But send someone to clean up." 'Yes, Sire.' He said, before taking the children from the room.
It was a short moment before men cam in to lift the body and take it out, and another two servants wiped down the table and floor. Once they were finished, they bowed tot he king. 'My lord,' before walking past him tot he door at his back. 'My lady." They said as they pasted by her.
Guinevère was pulling off her gloves when she paused to smile at the ones whom were cleaning. "Have a nice niigghh . . . " She began to speak but noticed that they were carrying buckets of bloody water! Gasping she dropped the gloves walked quickly toward Arthur, "What happened?! Are you alright?" Her hand reached out for him as she approached, needing to see he was well.

Arthur found nothing significant on the man, which continued to leave him absolutely clueless as to what was going on. Before he knew it, the servants had come to take away the body, and clean up the blood. Arthur stood watching . . . trying to control his emotions for they were all over the place. The one word -- Papa -- just stuck in his mind. A father. He was a father and a husband. How? How had this all happened? Just early today he had been out to lunch on a picnic with Mithian and now . . . he was here. With two children and . . . his head turned toward the door, turning to look at it . . . to see Guinevère. He had known from the moment Anna had called him Papa, that it was Guinevère who was the mother. Still, that did not make it any easier to see her now. After how she had hurt him, after her betrayal . . . after banishing her . . . and now, here she was. His wife. The mother of his children. He could not describe the feelings that her presence evoked. He had missed her so much, but needed only remind himself why she was no longer here.
He had every intention of marrying Mithian, knowing that he could never love another so therefore, would have to marry for the good of the kingdom. But he was not. In this world, he'd married her. She was evidently concerned for him and when she asked if he was alright, extending a hand to him, Arthur turned his head to the side, talking a casual step away from her. "I'm fine," he answered simply, keeping a proper distance between them . . . averting her gaze. It was still so very hard to be close to her, to talk to her, to look at her . . . but if there was one thing that hadn't changed -- that would never change -- it was his love for her. He knew he had to pretend in front of the children, but he could not pretend in front of Guinevère. Could he try to find out as much as he could? Or should he just be upfront about everything? About his confusion and how . . . he believed himself to be under a spell, yet again. "I do not know who the attacker was." Maybe by starting with that, she could list some possibilities. Who were their tensions greatest with right now? Who would be the most likely suspect to send an assassin sorcerer to come and put him under a spell?

"I'm fine," Thank goodness! Her heart skipped a beat when she had feared him injured, but he claimed he was fine. At first she believed him but then he turned from her. Turned away from her? She began to fear he was hiding an injury. "I do not know who the attacker was." Her face was one of shock, then again with the fear and worry.
"At--attacker?!" She repeated? "Here!? How did they get so close? How did--THE CHILDREN!" Her hand lifted to her lips, "Are they alright? Did he get to them?!" She needed to see! She had to see them for herself! Now! Guinevère also knew she had to make sure Arthur was alright. "What happened?! He attacked you?" Guinevère looked around the door, noticing nothing appeared broken or out of place but she wondered if that was because the room had been cleaned or because it had been a long fight. "Who would dare!" She demanded, though mostly from fear! Was it Odin? Morgana! Lot? How dare they! In her own home! "Who do you think it behind it?"

Hearing her speak with such worry and concern made it all the more difficult to look at her. To be in the same room as her. What kind of world was this? How could they have possibly worked through what had come between them? How could he have forgiven her so quickly? Especially when the last thing he remembered, was preparing himself to wed another woman. And now. This. The life he had always dreamed of; the ideal, perfect life. With her, and the children. Their children. It wasn't right, and he needed to find a way back to the harsh reality . . . even if he would have been happier in this kind of life. "They're fine," he confirmed. As he was trying to maintain a casual distance between them, he noticed the magnificent sword on the ground and picked it up. Now, he was able to take a closer look at the sharp, flawless blade . . . without the threat of someone swinging their own weapon at him.
"They were looking forward to seeing you. You should go to them." Because he needed a moment to gather himself . . . not that he would ever be ready to be in a room with her this soon. Having to pretend that they were married, and feed this cruel lie of a life. "Who do you think it behind it?" That was the very question he wished to ask her. And he needed to find a way to say it without totally giving himself a way. Though he knew he could not drag it out for too long. "I am not sure," he said pensively, though he had no idea which enemies were dead and which were alive in this realm of falsity. "Who do you think is capable of this?" In the past, he had always valued her council and advise, and knew she would make a wonderful queen. To have to act that way now . . . hurt desperately. For it reminded him of all that they had lost as the realization came to him, that he could never properly conform to this life.

"They're fine," More to be thankful for!! This night could have been a horrid ending! She was grateful Arthur was close by with the children. As not all of them could travel with ease, Arthur had stayed here with them while Elyan and her traveled."They were looking forward to seeing you. You should go to them." Something felt different in his words, and she paused for a moment before answering him. "I intend too."
"My heart--" Her hand moved to rest over her heart, "--is beating so hard right now. I came up the steps expecting to find you letting then children--especially Anna--stay up past their bed time, and instead see a bucket of blood!" Slight exaggeration, but she felt just as startled. Guinevère knew she needed to see her children, but first she needed to answer him.
"Who do you think is capable of this?" There were only two or three, unless someone new had stepped forward. "Depends on the attack, how it happened and the manner in which they used." That would tell them who. Sadly, Guinevère as getting better at reading into some of the signs. She avoided it if she could, but Morgana and Odin were never wavering in their hate.
"I am going to see the children, and then we can try to sort out who this might have been . . . . " She paused the look at Arthur for a moment, clearly knowing something was off and it giving her pause. However, in the end she walked toward the door, where she looked back again. "I will be right back," She repeated, and wasn't sure why she felt the need to tel him so, before she walked down the hall toward the children's rooms.

Usually, whenever she was so distressed he would take her in her arms, hold her, and allow both themselves comfort. Now, he couldn't even look at her. How was he going to keep pretending when he couldn't even look at his supposed wife? He heard every word she said though, especially ones pertaining to the attacker. And then ones of departure. He glanced at her as she left the room and when she did, he relaxed his entire body. This was not going to be easy. He was trying to play along . . . but he didn't know what was going on. He knew that he may have to keep up appearances for the sake of their children, but he wouldn't be able to hide it from Guinevère for very long. He dragged his feet to sit at the edge of the bed, putting his head in his hands while he propped them up with his elbows resting on his knees. This was all a complete mess of confusion! He knew magic was involved, but he didn't know how to undo it. The last time, it had been a kiss that broke the spell. Would it work this time? Was it always so simple?
She was his wife . . . there was no trying to make the other fall in love with them. Despite how hurt he was by her actions, he loved her, and she him. Well, at least enough to marry him . . . even though it had not been enough the night before their wedding. That was when Arthur realized even more how much harder it was going to be to pretend . . . for they shared a room. There was no doubt about that for it had always been their plan for when they were married. And considering they called their children Amaren and then Anna . . . he doubted they deviated much from their original plans together. Could he make up an excuse to leave for the whole night? Should he just come out and tell her? This whole thing was getting more and more complicated. While he knew he should be up and looking for answers, all he could do was sit here and try to process the fact that he was married to a woman who betrayed him, and had two children who called him Papa.
