.:Name of Character:. Morgause du’Kyna
.:Nick Name:. None. And nobody may think up one either.
.:Age:. 28
.:Race:. Avalonian (I think? What are those called who come from the Isle of the Blessed?); High Priestess of the Old Religion.
.:Status:. Nomad| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Since birth, Morgause had been a creature of beauty and of grace, challenging the charm and elegance of many noblewomen and priestesses alike. Her hair, a fair golden, is always worn down her back, and yet, always pinned back out of her face. With natural curls flowing long, she finds it an offense to even have it implied that her hair be put up at all. Morgause’s eyes, a soft chocolate color, often pierce the soul of many, but occasionally glow with kindness. Her slender figure stands at about 5’6”, close to 5’7”, even. Nothing about her physical appearance seems rough; her hands are smooth, her skin is silky, and her face is perfectly wrinkle-free, like she’d been pampered her whole life.
Morgause’s attire usually depends on the situation in which she is found. Often, she will be wearing chainmail, for she often is practicing her swordfighting. But when she feels up to being casual, a simple blouse and trousers will do her good enough. Of course, as a high priestess, Morgause will like to appear the part as well, clad with jewelry and jeweled embroidery and scents to compliment her glorious royally colored velvet and silk dresses.
.:Height:. 5’6”
.:Portrayed by:. Emilia Fox!| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Morgause is often her own person. She despises being similar to another, and would rather become far more ruthless than before, if only to differ. Naturally, this will come with her trait if independence. At time, she will use her manipulative powers to act as though she depends upon other, when in reality, she is far from it. She is a born leader, a dominant female, and things should always go her way, or else. When possible (which is pretty much at all times), Morgause will think ten steps ahead of everyone, and still know her next move. She is careful, calculated, and quite intimidating.
Morgause will be everything and know it, aside from evil. She refuses to acknowledge that fact, and rather use it to her advantage that others consider her a threat because of her vengeful personality. Really, all Morgause wants is for the Old Religion to return to, and be accepted again into, Camelot. And she knows that the only way for such a thing to occur would be if her sister, Morgana, sits upon the throne.
Although Morgause may not be old enough to be wisely experienced, she has her fair share of wisdom and knowledge. She is perfectly capable of bring down an entire city, and has attempted so on a couple of occasions. Her arrogance had definitely become her downfall, but her scheming ways hadn’t stopped until it was too late. Everyone ever involved in Morgause’s plots were only tools for her to use, and never considered anyone human, thus acting cold towards the world. Despite her dislike of people, Morgause will often be seen in public, parading her arrogance around, enjoying herself as she wins arguments and disputes. Every once in a blue moon, her kind side will show, but never to anyone but Morgana. She had proven more than once that Morgana was far more important to her than bringing about the fall of Camelot.
.:Strengths:. Her magical abilities contribute to many of her strong points. Because of it, she is also extremely arrogant, and headstrong with many of her scheming ways, and she takes pleasure in that. Her swordsmanship has proven her very skilled in the weaponry and is a well-trained warrior.
.:Weaknesses:. Unfortunately, with the strong also comes weaknesses. Morgause’s main weakness is her sister, Morgana, who she is willing to protect with all she has, at all times. Using people is another weakness, but with this, Morgause also delights in a bit too often. Although many times, her emotions are in check, Morgause tends to be too much of a threat with her poignant words, and acts on them far too quickly for her own good.
.:Magic Abilities:. Morgause is extremely well-taught with magic, and is known to be able to perform almost every kind of magical deed of which she thinks. She has summoned the dead, put an entire kingdom to sleep by placing a curse upon another, used elements to her gain, and has cursed people by using the mandrake root to cause others to see illusion. She has also magically felt and heard her sister’s distress at one point, and even telepathically called out to Morgana.
.:Special Skills:. She is exceptionally skilled with a sword and in combat, and has proven to be very powerful and advanced with magic.
.:Accents:. British, with a slight accent picked up from reciting so many spells in the tongue of the Old Religion.| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Camelot
.:Family:. Half-sister (Morgana)
.:Occupation:. High Priestess
.:Current Location of Residence:. Albion, usually the Kingdom of Essetir.
.:History:.
While Uther Pendragon had been led to believe that the half-sister of Morgana was dead, Morgause had actually been smuggled out of Camelot at a very young age. Given to the priestesses of the Old Religion on the Isle of the Blessed, Morgause had grown up in a fine lady, learning magic every second of her time, while feeding her knowledge with books of the Old Religion and the history of Albion itself. Her entire life, however, Morgause had known about her half-sister, who had become the ward of the mighty King Uther. Morgause and Morgana, being but maternally bonded, have both inherited the gift of magic from their mother, Vivienne (because gods know Uther isn’t magical). Naturally, her sister hadn’t been informed of a sister, nor of her abilities, and Morgause found it appropriate to at last meet her sister face-to-face.
King Cenred of Essetir had been Morgause’s first ally and tool, often aiding her and giving her whatever resources she needed, and she, in turn, became his occasional lover, pleasuring both him and herself, benefiting twice from one arrangement with him. His castle became her fortress, though she was hardly present as often as either of them liked.
Ever since Morgause could first understand words and sentences, she had been taught by the priestesses about Uther’s burning hatred for sorcery, and although she was not present during the time of the Great Purge, in Camelot, she knew of many people whom she in fact knew, who had been killed in this tragic event. As an eight-year-old girl, Morgause swore to avenge all of those deaths, and indeed, became High Priestess and one of the most powerful sorceresses. Her only way out of such a cursed land was in, and Morgause saw Morgana as the perfect tool for such a plot. Obviously, Morgause needed to befriend her sister first, gain her trust, and she did so with no complications. Morgause instantly fell in sisterly love with Morgana, and expressed her concern from the moment she spotted anything the matter with her sister, even giving her a healing bracelet to protect Morgana from nightmares (and went so far as to reveal that it was from her mother, possibly also implying that the mother was also Morgana’s).
After challenging Arthur to a duel, winning her ticket into Camelot, and winning Morgana’s trust as well, Morgause easily manipulated Arthur into accepting her challenge and meeting him at a castle of ruins, where she mentioned Ygraine once again and had Arthur begging to meet the spirit of his mother. Morgause was using this to her advantage, Arthur’s feelings, so that eventually, son and father might fight and kill each other. Unfortunately, Merlin folded Morgause’s plans, but that didn’t stop her. Morgause awakened the Knights of Medhir, who also happened to be indestructible. Those plans were working well, especially after binding Morgana’s life to a sleeping spell cast upon Camelot. Merlin, of course, managed to stop those plans as well, by poisoning Morgana, and blackmailing Morgause into stopping the Knights. Morgause reversed the spell, knowing her sister was more important to her, and took Morgana away for an entire year.
Once again, Morgause tried another stabs at bringing down Uther, and this time, by using the magical mandrake root, which when magicked, could produce hallucinations to those who were close to it. Uther was to be seen unfit to be king, and perhaps dethroned, but yet again, relentlessly, Merlin thwarted her plot. It wasn’t long before Morgana and Morgause met once more, a memorable meeting, in which Morgana informs her sister of her true relationship to Uther, who happens to be her father. Morgause is obviously delighted to know this, knowing that Morgana now had a more legitimate claim to the throne than she previously did. Twice thereafter, Morgause attempted to have Arthur killed, once by luring him to Cenred’s castle after kidnapping Elyon, Guinevère’s brother, and then Gwen herself, and the second time by having Morgana give Arthur an Eye of the Phoenix bracelet to do him harm on a journey of his. All of these times, Morgause had failed, thus enraging her even further.
It wasn’t until Morgause created an immortal army that she at last gained control of the kingdom. She lived long enough to see Morgana rule for a little more than week, making Uther suffer in the dungeons. But then, the servant boy Merlin, who had meddled one too many times already, interfered and destroyed the powerful Cup of Life which held the power of the immortal army. Morgause was heavily wounded in a battle, one of magic too, disabling her from plotting any further against Uther and Arthur, entrusting her sister to continue on the legacy.
Her final gift to her dear sister was herself, hoping that if the veil between death and life was torn, Camelot would surely fall. Although this plan failed as well, Morgause died knowing she did something good for her sister, for, she had nobody to live for but Morgana by this point.| ~ • ~ | Sample Post | ~ • ~ |
The sand beneath her feet began to give way, but she stood her ground the best she could, knowing that if she even dared give up, all would be lost. Gripping the blade tightly in her hands, she swiftly fought back harder, swiping the air a couple of times in near misses, until she at least hooked the tip of her sword onto a bit of chainmail, causing her opponent a mere flesh wound. Content with this improvement, she stepped back, swung her sword in her hand proudly, and circled, knowing exactly where to strike next. Her opponent’s right arm was now in slightly more pain than his left, so her best bet was his right arm.
Swinging again, she thrust the blade forward just when her own chainmail felt as if it had suddenly gotten twice the weight it really was, and she stumbled, piercing her opponent’s skin far more than she thought she would.
Morgause didn’t stumble. Nor did she fail. But this had been an accident. Well, because she didn’t do accidents, of course, this action had been on purpose. Almost apologetically, Morgause glanced back at the smug King Cenred as if to let him know that she had killed his champion swordsman. He was hardly even much of a challenge. “You might want to check again the status of your army’s capabilities, Cenred, for even your champion is no match against my simple skills,” she remarked, raising an eyebrow at him, almost like she was challenging him.
The king, refusing to let his judgment be mocked by a woman, drew out his swords and smiled at the blonde sorceress. She knew exactly what he meant by this, and Morgause was more than satisfied to humor him. He should know better than to attempt to win these low-energy duels he liked to fight with his occasional lover. He wouldn’t, nor could he ever, beat her. Not with a sword, and certainly not while she had magic. With one simple word or gesture, Morgause could end his life, although, such a thing would be a waste and a pity. Who else would satisfy her cravings?
Pointing her sword into the king’s chest, Morgause gave him a long, deathly stare, and then at last, swords began clinking lively.
