It was late and though Arthur was tired, he was still basking in the feeling of success and victory. He had collected the trident, thus proving himself worthy as a future king. He thought of how his father would be proud of him, for it was not often that Arthur was able to fill his father with such an emotion. Or well, at least that was how Arthur saw it. But this time, it was undeniable. Though Arthur had a little help along the way, he had still completed the task expected of him, to the perilous lands and back. It was too late to present the artifact to his father now, though the king was made aware of Arthur's return. The prince quickly saw him before Uther retired for the night, and Arthur then proceeded to his own chambers to get his chainmail and armor off, clean up and change into something more comfortable and casual. Not his sleeping attire for he still had someone else he wanted to see.
Putting the trident in a safe location, he made his way through the halls to Morgana's chambers. Knocking on the door, he entered to see her sitting at her dreser and looking a bit . . . shocked? Was that the right word? Arthur's eyes looked around the room for while it was good to see Morgana, she was the excuse he had been using to see someone else. He knew he should be avoiding her since he had lost the gift of the bracelet she had given him . . . but still. He asked if she was alright, she as usual said yes and stated it was good to see him returned home safe. Arhur smiled, realizing Guinevère was not here, and assumed that she was either somewhere else in the castle or had gone home for the night. Arthur knew he couldn't ask Morgana without being obvious, so he said he had just come in to say good night, left her chambers, and then continued the search for Guinevère.

She missed him. Merlin too, but Arthur most. While thing were always hard between them, it was never because they lacked love. It was mostly because his father lacked and understanding of that same emotion. While she did not hate Uther, she felt a pity toward the man and was greatful he remained ignorant of their love.
She was thinking of Arthur while carrying some freshly washed things to Morgana before retiring for the night. In her mind she could see him now. Turning the corner at the other end of the darkened and secluded hall. Pausing to look at her, and even smiling at the sight of her. ......
Not a dream in the day! "Arthur!" She breathed his name and took a few slow steps toward him before dropping the clothing and running toward him! Not a dream but real! He was alive and returned to her! Her hand reached up to touch his cheeks, and her eyes took in the sight of him! He was hole and safe and returned to her! "Arthur!" He was home! "I missed you! I saw you and thought you a dream that my desperate mind summoned!" But he wasn't! He was here! "You're home!'

This castle was too damn large. He was searching everywhere he could think of that Guinevère would be. And when he received looks from the others, could easily use the excuse that he was looking for his manservant, even though Merlin was not technically supposed to be here to ensure that no one knew of his role in Arthur's quest. With each failed attempt to find her, his impatience and desire to see her was growing. As his mind created a list of other places to look, it seemed that fate was finally kind to him because there she was, just turning the corner. A smile instantly formed on his expression, seeing her hurry toward him and speak of how she had been thinking of him. How she had missed him. Hearing her say these words filled his heart with . . . love. There was no other word for it.
Despite whatever was between them, he loved her and he would never set that feeling aside. Unable to resist, he pulled her toward him and wrapped his arms around her, wanting to hold her for so much longer than he actually did. Than he actually could. For anyone could see them. "I have been looking everywhere for you," he admitted as he slowly let her go. "I missed you too," he further admitted in a soft voice. "I was hoping to spend some time with you tonight." He paused, wondering if that sounded odd. "If you are able to that is," he added. "And. . . want to," he continued. Why was it that he got so flustered around her?
