Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur couldn't help but smile a little at the tease, but his son was of a different mind. "I am not your prince," he said bitterly. Arthur stopped walking for a moment and look at his son. "Galahad, that is no way to talk to anyone. Especially someone who is older than you." Arthur felt embarrassed that his son would talk such a way to Guinevère. He knew that he had not ever spoken to his children about just how important she was to him, but . . . a selfish part of him wanted them to get along. Not, speak to her in such a way. "She cares more about protecting you and Alymere!" Arthur knew that wasn't true.
He had no idea what had happened in the library between them but his son was clearly upset about something, and . . . he hoped Guinevère could forgive him for such things. He made eye contact with Guinevère once more, an apology in his gaze. "I'm so sorry," he apologized again. He wished he could say he didn't know what came over him, but he knew his son and . . . this was not uncommon for him. But, disrespecting anyone -- especially Guinevère -- was not something Arthur condoned or would allow. "You and I are going to have a talk after we get your foot looked at," Arthur said in a serious tone to Galahad. That seemed to be enough to silence the boy for the time being.

Guinevère blinked, surprised at the words but didn't speak up. Instead she knew that Arthur might be more comfortable without her witnessing this. :No, it's alright, I should deliver this any how." She said, feeling as if she might have made things worse by following him here. Guinevère knew the young prince was in pain, so she didn't hold his words against him. They reminded her of Morgana for a moment, and she knew that while Uther fed into the bitterness making it worse, that Arthur wouldn't. Galahad was in good hands. And they weren't hers.
"I wish you a speedy recovery, my lord" She gave them both a small head bow out of respect, before turning and letting them continue on. This time she was the one walking away, and that didn't make it easier. In only left her emotions more confused over everything that had happened since she'd come back. Things couldn't continue this way. If she and Arthur were going to be friends, and she hoped that they could once things between them settled (as much as it could when she was still in love with him) then they had to stop stepping around the topics that hurt them. They needed to face them, and move past them.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur felt horrible. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, knowing he had to keep down the emotions for he had his son in his arms and needed to figure out how to handle this situation. It was moments like this, where he so desperately wished that Galahad had his mother. Where Arthur felt like he was doing something wrong. Every decision he made, effected his children and their future . . . and he was terrified, of messing something up. When he got him checked out, the physician said it would keep in a couple of weeks, but that he needed to stay off of it as much as possible. Galahad was of course not happy about this, but Arthur knew it would give him a good break.
The physician put a thick bandage around it and gave him a couple of crutches to walk with. Arthur then had a long talk with Galahad, trying to understand what he had done, why he had done it . . . and what the reason was that he had spoken to Guinevère in such a way. At the end of it, Galahad and Arthur had decided on an adequate consequence, which was that he was going to polish all of the physician's tools. Furthermore, Arthur had Galahad apologize to Guinevère and thank her for her help. It was a quick visit, and Galahad was not happy about it at all . . . but it was necessary. Arthur took the time to ask Guinevère if they could speak privately later today. He knew he had to talk with her about . . . everything. All that was happening. Meeting each other's children, and finally confronting their pasts.

Guinevère figured by this point, all of Arthur's children hated her. It was a fair assessment since Galahad surely did, and he would tell his siblings his thoughts. While she hadn't planned on being int heir lives--they were Arthur's childern, and she did want them to like her. She wanted things to be easy between her family and his. While their lives didn't often cross, she loved him. She wanted their lives to cross. She knew Arthur might have feelings still in this, but for it she was already drawn to him. And now his son hated her! After forcing an apology to her, she could only imagine the already angry child's angrier feelings.
Arthur asked to speak with her later, and Guinevère promised to be home and alone. She asked Elyan if he would take Lunete out for the afternoon, and Lunete loved the idea! She'd love it less if she knew her mother was keeping her from seeing the king. Lunete dressed in her new dress, and trilled around the room until Elyan finally got ready. Guinevère, needing a good hug, wrapped arms around her daughter and told her to have a wonderful time. Lunete, a generally happy child, hugged her mother and skipped out--surely off to find something to get in to with Elyan. Elyan had spoken of needed to do some errand. She hoped it was looking for work here that would keep him near. Yet trying to pin im down, would make him leave faster.
Guinevère tided her home, and washed, and dressed quickly; since she didn't have a lot of time before the king was due. She was wearing a white and blue dress, with her hair left down when there was a knock at the door. Sitting down the flowers, she walked over and opened it. "Hullo," she greeted, knowing that every difficult conversation needed to start with a hello.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur had no idea how this conversation was going to go. He only knew that it needed to happen. That they could no longer prolong the inevitable. She was here, and they were going to see each other . . . planned or not. It was impossible now to keep from each other's lives and well, Arthur didn't want to. He didn't want this tension. These unspoken words. When she opened the door he smiled in greeting, stepping inside as the door was closed behind him. "Thank you for meeting with me," he started things off by saying, wanting her to know how much he appreciated this. He also knew that he couldn't stall.
They could exchange pleasantries but it would Arthur be just putting off the conversation. "I wanted to apologize again, for Galahad. I hope you know that he doesn't mean what he said." Arthur knew that. His son tended to speak more than thought. Which, was the opposite of Alymere. His oldest put a great deal of care into his words where as his second son just spoke whatever he thought of in the heat of the moment. "And, thank you, for taking care of him. I . . . can not tell you just how much that means to me." Because words were inadequate. He knew it couldn't have been easy -- especially with whatever attitude Galahad had given to her -- but also, for reasons that went beyond a child's words.

Arthur was in her home, and she felt the need to smooth out her dress, or clean something; but Guinevère didn't let him distract her. They needed to say the hard things, so that they could be int eh same city without things getting awkward. "I've meet stubborn princes before," she told him, trying to start off light. She still believed that they hated her, but she wasn't going to tell their father that. Not while there was so much else between them. She could work on building a bridge there once her and Arthur made peace.
She gestured to the seats, "Please come sit, and make yourself at home." The chairs were simple, but she also knew that Arthur wouldn't judge her. He'd lived in her home before, and . . . the memory came to her. The kiss. No, he wouldn't judge her.
"It seems I was able to repay the favor." He helped her daughter, and she'd . . . annoyed his son, and told on him. "I trust he is healing well?" She asked, checking on his purple foot. Guinevère took a seat near where she had offered Arthur's his, though if he stood then she would stand back up.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Make himself at home. While this was not the home that he had once lived in . . . it was still a home. Filled with warmth, because it was Guinevère's. "Thank you," he said softly, taking a seat. He thought over her words of having met stubborn princes before, and he wished that was all that it was. Stubbornness. But his concerns with Galahad extended beyond that; went far deeper. And, he knew he owed Guinevère an explanation. For something told him, that it would not be the last time she met him. He softly smiled as she spoke of returning the favor. "Lunete is a wonderful girl," Arthur told her truthfully. "You must be so proud of her," he added on, knowing, that they had not yet even spoken of his interactions with Lunete.
"He is," Arthur answered in regards to Galahad's healing. He kept wanting Merlin to heal his foot with magic, but Arthur did not want magic used in such a way. Some lessons had to be learned the hard way, even if it pained Arthur to know that his son was hurting. "He is restless, but we have found ways to occupy his time." Ones that limited the mischief he often was up to, though Arthur knew he would more than make up for it. "It was itching powder," Arthur told her. "He was putting it in the books." He had found out the whole story -- eventually -- and Arthur had given him another task of cleaning all the books thoroughly so that no one would be victim to his little prank.

Guinevère smiled when he talked about Lunete, and agreed with him. "Very much so. I can't imagine life without her." Her daughter was her world in many ways. Elyan floated in and out and now Auden was dead . . . Lune was all she had. Lunete and Guinevère had had a hard year, but they were still full of hope and enjoyed life. She was thankful for that.
Arthur explained it was inching powder, and Guinevère didn't know what he hoped to do with it in the books. There wasn't many who used them--unless things have changed? "For what purpose?" She asked curious, and without judgement. She couldn't think of a reason to put it in books. Was he not the one who used them?
Guinevère knew they were on 'safe' topics right now, and that in order to clear them from this tentative hesitancy, she needed to be bold. "How old was he when his mother died?" She asked, glad that she didn't stumble over the word mother. Because his mother, was Arthur's wife. Who he married. Who he bedded. Who he loved (she hoped!).

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Guinevere asked for the reason and Arthur wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing that Galahad had a reason for doing what he did. "He was upset with his tutor," Arthur explained. "So he doused the books that he knew he was going to use for their lessons." Because he had failed his test. Arthur thought back to when he was Galahad's age, and how he would be far too afraid of his father to do such a thing. He supposed in some ways, it was good Galahad did not fear him to that extent. But . . . Arthur knew it was still wrong of him to do such things. All thoughts on the subject of itching powder ceased when Guinevère asked her next question. His gaze fell, and his jaw clenched at the mention of . . . Elena. And yet, he was grateful she asked it. Proving how much stronger she was then him.
"He was two," Arthur answered quietly. "It's, been very hard on him." Though only two, it was old enough to know what it was to have a mother, only to have her cruelly snatched from this world. "Alymere deals with her loss differently. But Galahad . . . " Arthur paused for a moment, trying to compose himself long enough to have this conversation, with the woman that he loved. He raised his gaze to look at her. "He misses his mother." A lot. All three of his children did, though Mirela did not know what it was to have a mother. Alymere internalized, which was why Arthur made sure that they talked about it, so that the emotions wouldn't eat at him. "And acts out because of it." And, because of so many other reasons that Arthur wished he could help him through.
"I wish . . . " Arthur's voice trailed off, his gaze falling as he tried once again, to maintain composure. But thinking of Elena, thinking of what his children had lost . . . because of his family of blood -- Morgana -- was not something so easily talked about. He wished they didn't feel the pain of losing a mother, yet saying that in front of Guinevère . . . felt odd. He did not wish Elena dead, but . . . it was just an odd, unfamiliar conversation to have. So instead, he left the sentence unfinished. "The loss of a parent is difficult on any child." Both he and Guinevère had faced it at a young age. First their mothers, then their fathers. And ironically, Guinevère's father had also been executed on order of Arthur's own. Besides, Guinevère would know such a thing as her daughter lost a parent too.

And so they'd begun. "How does Alymere deal with his grief?" Being older, he would know his mother more. He would still have memories of her, many of them if he was lucky. She'd not known Elena well but she seemed kind, and Guinevère could not picture her as a poor mother.
He began to say something, wish for something, but stopped. Guinevère, having lost her husband, could imagine what it was. He wished she was still here. Closing her eyes, she took a slow deep breath and before speaking. "You wish they'd not lost their mother. That she was here to help you." She finished for him, knowing they needed to say these things if they were to be able to speak with ease over the coming years. She knew thought, that if Elena had been alive, she wouldn't have returned. She didn't return to the city in hopes of being with Arthur; but nor could she see him with another.
"None of use were raised with mothers," she told him, knowing that it seemed the fate of them all to miss it. "We both know the power of a good father. They are lucky to have you. Someone who understands what they are going through. Do you talk to them about her?" She asked, wondering if that would help his son heal?

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur thought over his eldest child upon hearing Guinevère ask how he dealt with it. "He is, quiet about it," Arthur told her honestly. "Reflective." Arthur knew Alymere tried to be strong for everyone, which was why it was so important to have alone time with him. He did not wish for his oldest son to suffer in silence nor carry a burden unvoiced. "But her death was the hardest on him." Even if he didnt show it as much as Galahad did.
Guinevère knew Arthur well. He once told her she could read him like a book and that much had not changed. He knew the words could not have been easy to say, but Arthur slowly nodded his head . . . for it was true. He wished they had not lost their mother. "I'd give anything, to take her place." To trade places with her. He was the one meant to die under his sister's wrath; not Elena. He had loved his wife and her death had created a void in his family. Just as Arthur knew Gwen must have loved her husband. It was just . . . a different kind of love.
It was true; the irony in that they were not raised with mothers. She spoke of how they were lucky to have him and Arthur couldn't agree. His very existence endangered them and he didn't know how best to protect them. Physically and emotionally. "I do," he answered when she asked if he talked about her. He did not wish to do as his father had, never speaking of his mother. "Galahad pretends not to be interested but I know he listens." And Arthur didn't know if that caused him more or less pain. "I have caused them so much pain," Arthur said, knowing the emotions were starting to get the better of him. Admitting things he had had not admitted to anyone. "And I fear, they will resent me for it." If not now, then when they were older. Like Morgana. Or worse . . . that they would resent each other.

She couldn't do this. She couldn't sit here, watching him hand his head, and hear him upset over his wife. She couldn't watch him so upset. So Guinevère got up and moved over to him, kneeling at his feet so that even as he looked down he would see her face. "Arthur," my love, her hand reached up to touch him, and oh, it felt so natural! It felt too easy to comfort him. His face too familiar under her hand. "You've always been willing to give yourselves little credit where it's really earned. No child would willing give up one parent for the other. You're children would not trade their father for their mother. They do not resent you. I have only met one of you children, but the only way I could make him grow still so I could put a bandage on him was to tell him of you. He spoke of wanting to be you! Yes, they want their mother, but never feel you are not enough."
She had heard that Morgana had killed Elena, but she didn't know the details. Just what others said. "Your son's sound like you." She old him, "And your daughter?" She needed to help him say this, she needed to hear it. They needed to have all this said so they could stop dancing around it. It hurt! Her heart was breaking from him and for him. She still felt as if he choose Elena, even if he had no choice. He'd broken her heart then, and it was breaking now. Yet she could not change the past, she could only help them finally heal after 20 years of leaving this unfinished.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur noticed her shift positions . . . shift, to kneel in front of him. She raised her hand to touch his cheek and he closed his eyes once more. Selfishly, basking in her touch. A touch that he had not felt in 20 years, yet one that still brought unimaginable comfort. He wished it were true. That he was enough for their children, yet he only placed more upon their shoulders. "That's because they do not yet fully understand the magnitude of what happened." Of what he had done. What he was responsible for. And when they did . . . there would be questions.
He already knew his sons heard talk of sibling feuds. Of him and Morgana. Of what the future would bring for Alymere and Galahad. Alymere was getting closer to understanding everything -- if he did not already. He opened his eyes, looking at her through an emotional gaze . . . leaning into her touch and knowing, this was not fair to her. But then, she spoke of how her son sounded like him, and asked about his daughter. Mirela.
"She has no memory of her mother," Arthur answered quietly. "She longs for it, but still sees only light in this world." Innocence. The absence of any darkness. Something that he wished he could forever protect her from. "Some speak of inevitable tension that will arise between Galahad and Alymere." Just as there had been tension of who was rightful heir to the throne between him and Morgana. Arthur focused a great deal on fostering the relationship between his children.
"Galahad does, not react well to it." It was another reason that he acted out; that he was so defensive . . . that he was overly strong willed. "My name is used as example of how it happens." Of how Morgana and him had fought for the throne. "His mother would . . . know how to handle this." Where as he didn't. Because his family was filled with those who lied and betrayed one another.
His children represented an innocence that he wasn't certain the Pendragons had ever truly had . . . and Arthur was terrified of how he would taint that in the future. "I'm sorry," he apologized softly, looking at her with soft intent. "I should not be burdening you with such things." Because . . . she was not his wife. And it was a blessing to not be. For if she had been, she would be dead. It seemed to be a curse to take the name Pendragon.

Guinevère moved to it beside him, on a bench near the chair. Her hand moving from his face to his hand. "Elena would not be able to handle this better then you, Arthur, for this would be something she knew little about." Arthur lived it. He knew the pain of it first hand. "This is something you know. Something you've lived. Talk to them about it. Explain that Morgana lived in fear o Uther and it turned her heart ainst even her brother who loved her."
"I now you loved your father, but he wasn't an easy man to love. Uther believed in his word as law and yeilded to none. You are not your father. Your children will be better because of it." Loving Uther wasn't something she was able to do, or he killed her father and had controlled his son. She lost the love of her ife because of it. she had always wondered how hard it was to love him for Arthur, but she knew that as a son, he loved his father no matter what he had done. "Tell Galahad you love him, more so for who he is then being a second son. He will grow to unerstand." She hoped.
Though he'd now spoken twice about wishing his wife was here istead. She found herself asking a harder question. "Did you love her/" She hoped the answer was yes, and feared the answer as well. She wanted to know he was happy, that he had comfort in the years they were apart--but she knew it would hurt to know that it was not she who gave it too him.
From my phone, sorry for errors!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur curled his fingers around her hand, holding it and though the gesture seemed so casual, the sensation sent a warmth through his entire body. He took in her words, speaking of how Elena would not be able to handle this better. That it was something she knew little about and . . . that was certainly a good thing. She had found out the truth along with him. About his father's lies. About Morgana's betrayal. All of it. He hated that she was pulled into this world . . . that she was forced into it without having any choice. "How can I explain it?" He asked softly, almost rhetorically. He had spoken of his family to his children by Alymere was the one who held the most understanding. He had been five when Morgana killed their mother.
"That because of ones tyranny, it forced another to rule with the same cruelty." Because, Morgana had taken over. Twice. "I know my father was not easy to love," he admitted, and never expected anyone -- especially Guinevère -- to sing any praises. "But he risked his life for me." Because of Odin's hatred towards Arthur. "He died . . . because his daughter hated him, and killed him." Arthur suddenly felt the sting of tears in his eyes, shaking his head a little as he closed his eyes in attempt to force them away. How could he explain Morgana's descent to darkness without raising more questions about his father? Questions, that would not be easy to answer. He wished his children would be better than Arthur ever was but . . . he feared the path he would lead them down. He needed guidance. They needed better guidance than what he could give them.
Unable to stop the tear, Arthur quickly brushed it away opening his eyes once more, hearing Gwen speak of telling Galahad he loved him. "I tell them everyday," Arthur confirmed quietly. "But . . . I'm just so scared, Guinevère." Scared of what the future held for them. Scared for the burden that was placed upon them. One that he felt so keenly after Elena's death. And now, with rumours of Morgana resurfacing. With the talk among the council. Of leaving his children orphaned. Her next question caused him to take a slow breath. Did he love her. Did he love Elena. He parted his lips, as if breathing suddenly became difficult. But he would not be a coward in his answer. He looked into Guinevère's eyes, owing her the truth.
"Yes," he practically breathed. "I grew to love her." She was an incredible woman, who deserved far better and the two of them, loved each other. "But not as . . . " He paused, brushing away another tear as he tried to get himself in control. Guinevère always had this way of looking deep into his heart, and drawing out things that he long kept guarded. It felt so natural to do so, even though it had been twenty years. "It was between us." A natural love. A love that never faded. A love that had consumed his very soul.
"I think . . . she knew." Another admittance. "And I hated myself every day for it." For trapping her in this life. For never being able to give her his whole heart. Looking at his children now, he continued to feel that guilt. That self loathing that now placed them motherless. He sniffed a little, looking away in shame for what he had done to both Guinevère and Elena that day he had agreed to marry them. "It would have been you," he said in thought, painful thought. It would have been Guinevère who was killed by Morgana.

He held her hand and it felt so easy. as if she had waited so long for this moment, and the pease and ease it brought her--even while the words they spoke were anything from easy. They were very hard. Life was unfair, and tey were borth hurting. The day he did as his fater asked him too, he had broken both of their herts. "If you were not ariad, you'd not be as good as you are." She told him, "Fear is not a weakness, when you share it. It ony becomes one, when you let it tak over you."
That was why Morgana had turned t bitterness while Arthur would turn t greatness. One sibling used her fer to let it over power ove--the other used love to over power the fear. "I cannot promise you that your sons will grow to be drifferent, but I can promise that if the worst comes, it will not be because your left them isalated in fear."
Then he spoke of his wife. she looked down as he spoke, understanding his words. She had yet to speak o her husband, but she knew she had too. It was better to do it now, when they were both already here, then to wait and make them have this talk again. "Lancalot choose honor," over her. Arthur choose it over her, to honor his father and do as his father. She didn't say the words, but his actions had broken her heart. Far worse ten Lanelot's had. "Auden knew my heart was already broken, and he loved me anyway. It was easy to love to him. And I did love him. Very much . . . . " Her head turned soher forehead rested n his shoulder, knowing they both knew what followed. "But it wasn't the love of my life." she still loved him. she didn't hide in the past tense, she didn't hold it back. If hey were going to grow as people--together or apart--he needed to know.
She still loved him.
It could have been her? "Perhaps. we cannot live in the what if's Arthur. In the thoughts of what our lives could be like. For better or worse, the choices we made 20 years ago, brought us here. we can only make the best of it. Perhaps I would ave died? Perhaps Morgana wouldn't felt alone with me here, and never grew to hate so much that sh eonce loved? Perhaps, even if I stayed, we still would be part? What could have been, we will never know But we can control the future. Lunete will know her mother loves her, Your children will know their father loves them. Your kingdom is growing and flurishing. Hold the good, arthur. The ight is brighter then the darkness."

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Fear. Yes. His father had lived in fear of magic his entire life. That fear, had turned into hate. Just as Morgana's had. It could lead to such corruption, and Arthur's own fears . . . where more of his children's future. Yet, it was true. He would never isolate them. He learned from his past what he did not wish for his children to endure. He knew from his own upbringing, what he did not wish for his children to experience. And he knew from Morgana's wrath . . . what he wanted for them in each other. She then spoke of her husband, and a part of him was glad for it. That she had found a husband, found love, and was able to create a life out of that love.
"I was glad for you, Guinevère," he told her truthfully. "Glad that you were able to find happiness." Even if it was with another. Perhaps it was their children that truly kept them going. That introduced to them a new kind of love. That of parenthood. Arthur closed his eyes when she rested her forehead against his shoulder, and slightly nodded in understanding. He knew what she meant. But when she spoke of the what if's . . . Arthur knew he had asked himself such questions repeatedly. Especially in the early years of his marriage to Elena.
"Morgana's heart held darkness since the moment we found her." Her betrayal had lasted for months. He did not wish Guinevère to feel like her presence her, played any part in Morgana's wrath. In fact, it was a relief that she was not here to witness it first hand. He remained silent following her words, allowing them to sink in. He knew that such were the burdens of not only being a parent, but a king. Sometimes he wished he could take his children away from this place. To live that life of a farmer. A simple one. But a safe one. Alymere was on the path to being crowned prince, and the burdens that came with that . . . he wished he could lift them from his son's shoulders.
"I just hope, that an era of peace will soon be upon us. And that the light will continue to overpower the darkness." But, he feared it would not be so until Morgana was no longer a threat. Until she was dead. He slightly turned his head to the side, lips brushing against the side of her head from this angle, before he slowly drew his head back to look at her. "I wish you did not know the loss of a spouse," he told her. He meant it. His own selfishness was not strong enough to wish that Guinevère's husband had died. He wished her to not suffer that loss. Just as he wished Lunete did not know the loss of a father. "But, I'm glad you're here." He could not deny that much. "Your presence is . . . a great comfort." To say the last, but right now, he knew it was the safest thing to say.

Guinevère felt his lips on her skin, and her hand tightened over his. He was glad she found love. She was glad he found love. Yet they were both sitting here hurting because the other had found their family, and it wasn't wit either of them. "Just as I am sad that you lost your wife, and your childrena mother." she echoed, knowing that she never wished for one to loose someone like tht; and yet, she wondered if she was even now taking advantage of that.
she lifted her head to meet his eyes, sitting here so close. Her lips parted to let her breathe easier as the emotions that shed felt for years chruned with in her. She had been a servant, in love with a prince. He had been a prince who had to marry a princess. she knew that she could never be is choice, but knowing it, and living it were drifferent. Uther had been an unforgiving king. He had stirred hate, fear, and anger in even te nicest of people. "Ad ow youre king," she said, finishing her thought outloud, yet knowing he would understand too. "Peace is here, Arthur. You've made peace with all but one of your enimies, and now it's time to find it within ourselves. We can't live for the past--but we can make sure our choices, are the ones that our hearts believe in. That is how you be a good father A good king."
miling softly up at him, "and a good friend." Which she hoped that they were.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT King. Years later and it still felt surreal in some moments. To know that the kingdom depended on his rulings. His decisions. His way of governing. She spoke of peace and he wanted to believe it. Perhaps, he did to an extent. Yet the fear of Morgana was still strong in his heart. He supposed that it was normal for kings to make powerful enemies. He just, still could not fathom that it was Morgana. His sister. But such thoughts were to be put to rest. For Guinevère was right; it was best they focus on the present. On the decisions they make, not the ones that they made. He slowly nodded in agreement.
"I remember you saying similar words to me in the past," he said with a soft smile. To rule with his heart. His father had often told him the opposite. He'd learned, the difficult way, to rule with both. One, more than the other. "I hope for that." For he still held doubts in his capabilities as both a sovereign and father . . . and friend. The word sounded so simplistic for all that was between them. But, it also was fitting. For at the very, very least . . . she was a friend. Though in his heart, he knew she was always much more than that. "Then as a friend . . . " He began to say, an almost tease in his voice though it was light under the weight of all that had been discussed.
"Please do not let Galahad's words and actions be between you two." He knew that they were going to cross paths again. He knew he often advocated for his son, but, with Guinevère it was different. "I know it is much to ask," he added on, wanting her to know that he was aware of that. He just requires time. And patience. The latter he knew Guinevère had ample of considering how she had tolerated Arthur when he was once that arrogant prince. "Perhaps one day soon, our families can meet," Arthur suggested. For he knew that it would only be a matter of time until Guinevère met his other two children. And, if they were to move on from the past . . . perhaps this could be a way to do that.

Guinevère leaned in to return the kiss he had given her moments ago, but with her's to his cheek. When she pulled away se stood an moved to pour a glass o water for them both, an moved to and it too him. After some of what they've just said their emotion could use a drink as well. Besides, it gave her something to do besidewant to kiss his lips. Friends they might try to be, but that would push things bit. For where they were now at least.
"He's a child," ne who hated her, but still a child. "I would not hold a grudge." Guinvere was a forgiving sort, but for this there wasn't something to forgive. "And I'd like that. Perhaps one day they can be friends as well." Merlin would enjoy that. she knew he played uncle to both their families. "Though . . . I fear if Lunete learns you've invitied her to pay, you will not be rid of her for some time," Guinevère teased. Trying to help lighten the mood, as she took the seat beside him, but didn't touch him. N matter ow much she wanted too.
