Brushing her hand over her face where the low branch had struck her, it was easy to say that she had a whopper of a migraine that would last probably until she went back home. Of course it was her own fault but she didn't really want to think about that, mostly because it hurt to think at the moment. So many things had happened between her ride from her home in Mercia and the city of Camelot, most of which she had no interest in thinking about for the time being. She had a good-sized mark on the side of her head and if anyone asked, she was attacked by a whole band of bandits and took them all down with her awesome fighting skills. No one had to know that she lost a round with a low tree branch.
Ruby whinnied and shifted her weight from one side to the other as Jade came to stop just outside of Camelot City. It seemed that Ruby was pushing Jade around, wanting to go into the city and find a stable. She wanted rest and relaxation, not just standing there while her owner thought about stuff too long. Sometimes Jade believed that Ruby was more a stubborn donkey then she was a horse considering how she acted but regardless of the annoyance she felt for the midnight black horse, she loved the large beast. “Alright alright, you’re so pushy today.” Gesturing for the horse to move forward, the young messenger entered the city of Camelot for the first time ever. Usually her job as a messenger kept her local in Mercia and the surrounding towns and such, it was a honor and a stress to be given a message from the King of Mercia himself for the King of Camelot, King Uther.
If anyone could mess this all up, it was Jade…
Not her fault of course, she had a good work ethic and wished to do a good job but her daydreaming and her craving for adventure often caused her to be distracted from her job. Right…now that she was there, what to do now? Head straight for the palace to deliver the message or find an inn and stables to rest her exhausted horse and perhaps even her own exhausted self. She had been riding for a while after all, her head ached and her arse was rather sore as well. Since she was actually there in Camelot now, it meant that she didn’t have far to go to deliver her message so what was a little more time.
It didn’t take Jade long to find an inn for herself and stables for Ruby. Once the money traded hands and Jade took a short nap, the young woman decided to wander around Camelot a bit and see what was going on. It was a new place and despite not much going on so far, there was still a small sense of excitement and adventure in being in a new place. Not exactly the most outgoing sort of young woman, she kept to herself, though she offered a smile at the passing person every so often.
The sound of laughter was heard, a small crowd gathering around something. This caught her attention. Brushing her brown hair back from her face, she decided to go and see just what was going on. A faire perhaps?
Or people mocking someone in the stocks… How lovely.
A dark-haired boy had been placed in the stocks, perhaps about eighteen or nineteen by the looks of it. One thing she noticed though she made no comment on it was the size of his ears. It was kinda cute in a weird sort of way. Choosing to push her way through the crowd that had begun to disperse, Jade cocked her head to the side as she leaned down a bit. “Whatcha in for?” She asked curiously, a warm smile on her face.
