Guinevère waved to Gaius as he walked out and then looked at Arthur, before looking back behind her at Cabal. Part of her wanted to reach down and take the boot from him but she rather hoped she could talk Arthur into taking the other one off. When he asked her a question she turned to look at him so she could answer, "No, I really don't think I need it at all."
And she honestly did not, "I really feel much better. I've felt worse after a long day, I will just keep resting." She didn't plan to drink any of Gaius' medicine unless she had too. Right now, she was fine. "I will save in case something changes however," Just to appease him, for she knew he worried. This way he would know she was feeling better but also know she would be honest when she was not feeling so.

Arthur was relieved to hear that. While she did of course look better, it was just good to hear that she was well enough to not require the immediate effects of more medicine. That with some rest and a calming day, her strength would be fully regained come tomorrow. "I'm glad," he told her with a soft smile, expressing only a fraction of how much relief washed over him. It was obviously not as much as when he had seen her open her eyes after nearly losing it, but with each positive note, he felt more and more relief come over him. Until she would be fully recovered when they could hopefully move past the horror of what had almost happened. And it would be that much easier once the sorcerer was caught as well, but of course, that was what the knights were doing right now: searching for the enemy.
"I will have the kitchen prepare some dinner for us," he told her, knowing it would still take some time before it was fully ready. Hopefully by then, she would be hungry enough to eat. He suddenly straightened his posture, as if he was about to say something dramatic. "But first, it seems that there is a thief in our midst." He was of course referring to Cabal. "To avoid aiding and abetting this criminal, would you be so kind to pass me my boot?" He asked Guinevère, sounding exaggeratedly formal, only to make a mockery out of the situation. But really. He did need his boot and he was afraid that if he tried to reach for it again, Cabal would just go running in the opposite direction. She would hopefully have better luck.

She smiled when he asked her to hand him the boots. She decided that she was going to sallow her pride and not made a big deal over his comment about getting the 'kitchen staff' to do something she had her own hands and she was able to do. She was trying so it would not ruin the day, but she did not like how he just casually said it. Granted he had been doing this for 26 years and it was their jobs, and by having this job they could buy homes, food, and care for their families.
It just was hard to hear him say when it wasn't an order TO her but one to her friends FOR her. "Are you going to need your boot in order to supper with me?" She asked him, "Because I should you warn you, if we are going to pretend to be husband and wife you will not need it for much longer." She teased as her face blushed; "You've made it almost the whole day with out it, surely you can give up the other one and just relax."

"Because I should you warn you, if we are going to pretend to be husband and wife you will not need it for much longer." Arthur had to drop the act of exaggerated formality and instead just smiled when she said these words. He of course was not oblivious for he knew what she was referring to. And with hearing that her strength was almost fully returned, meant that their plans may actually happen. Something that he anticipated, yet still would not over state bluntly. Though, he did love to see her cheeks turn that shade of red; all part of her modest nature. "It would mean I have to admit defeat to the thief," Arthur said, looking at Cabal, but unable to keep an angry expression when they were hinting towards certain things.
"But it would be worth it if it means it saves time later." The entire day was building towards tonight, because as he previously recognized, it would be the first time they had actually planned a night of intimacy, rather than just succumbing to their passionate emotions which was often catalyzed by a dramatic event. But not this time. This time, it would be the ending to a perfect night. "Still. I would appreciate having my boot back in full tact," he added as he took a few steps towards her -- which inevitably meant he was getting closer to Cabal, but that had not been the purpose of his intentions, even if his words suggested otherwise. He was just moving forward to be closer to her.

He seemed willing to not only play along but let her have her way with this one. She smiled brightly up at him before looking over her shoulder at Cabal. She reached her hand back to touch his head, and rub his ears before letting it fall to the boot. She gave it a soft tug, hoping he would give it up. He did not at first, but gave a stronger tug back, causing her to turn to facing him but when she almost fell he let go seeming to realize that he could not play so ruff with her.
She turned back to face Arthur bu the boot was still behind her back. "Your boot is safe, you can remove the other if you'd like." Because she was not giving him the boot back. "I will take it to be put up for you." She liked that he was taller then her, with out it being an annoying distant between them. It was enough that she felt small besides him, and safe with his height, but not too as all she could not stand on her toes and give a soft kiss on the corner of his lips. "Then we can see about supper."

He watched her attempt to get the boot from Cabal. He knew they'd know better in terms of their playful ways. She was much smaller and more delicate than him, and Cabal had learned that when he noticed she had almost lost her balance when he attempted to pull too hard at the boot. The animal released his hold on it. Arthur knew that if it had been him attempting to get the boot, it would not have been that simple. Cabal would have fought against him, still considering the entire thing a game, until Arthur's authoritativeness would have been made known through commands. And it still seemed like a less than simple task to get his boot, for now Guinevère was holding it hostage. He could not be too angry though, especially when she lightly kissed him.
When she had finished speaking, he titled his head down and lightly kissed her lips, still wondering how short of breath she was, and did not want to push it. "Thank you," he said when she offered to take care of his boot. At least he managed to get his belt on. He looked at Cabal, shaking his head and then at Bohrs who had silently been watching the entire scene unfold. "I think they need to be properly exercised," he told her, meaning, they needed to go for a good run around the training field. He made his way over back to the chair and sat down, leaning down so that he could proceed to take his other boot off. It was strange, to go through all this trouble of putting them on and then now taking them off. A strange turn of events indeed.

Guinevère smiled when he kissed her, and it was short enough it did not cause her breathing to change; only her heart to skip a beat as it always did. Then he spoke of them needing some exercising. Did he mean he had to go? Or just them? He was removing the boot so she wondered if he meant he was going to make them chase Merlin again. "Leave Merlin to work in peace." She told him, just in case. "He does not need them chasing him because you've got them to mistake him for anything."
Taking the other boot from him after he got it off, she walked over to put them up out of the dog's reaches. Unless they could do something she did not know of, then they would be safe where they belonged. Turning to look back at him she smiled, before going to the fire place and starting to clean up their mini-mess. The pillows would been to go to the bed, and hew sewing tot he table before someone stepped on the needle.

Arthur had to grin when she told him to leave Merlin in peace. The thought was so entertaining, to have them chase him around the field, mistaking him for a bone or something of the like. But he had exercised the dogs enough to know that they were not as vicious as Arthur had made them out to be the first time he ordered them to be exercised by him. He had grown used to them, though he remembered Merlin's words when Arthur had listed that was one of the chores for him to do: that he was more of a cat person, that he would need to learn their names in case he 'lost' them . . . that he was really not the slightest bit enthusiastic over the thought of having to be in their company. It had only made Arthur more eager to make him do that task, more so than mucking out the stables.
"He can handle it," Arthur said casually, but knew she disapproved of some of the ways he treated Merlin. Even if she knew the depths of their friendship, he was well aware that on the surface, it was something different at times. "I'll leave him to his errands." Meaning, whatever Gaius made him do. He was about to tell her not to put the boot away -- again, leaving it for Merlin to clean up -- but he had learned to pick his battles. When she started to pick up the pillows and things on the floor however, he rose to his feet and quickly stood in front of her, blocking her from doing any work, and putting his hands on her upper arms as if to keep her in place. "You need to rest Guinevère, not clean." If it came to it, then even he would pick the things up and put them back in her place. He would do it to stop her from cleaning, not to make Merlin's life any easier.

She did not approve of allot of the ways he treated Merlin, nor some of the ways Merlin in turn treated Arthur. It seemed both boys wanted to see who could push the other future faster. She didn't understand, but had learned that asking either of them to stop was like asking an in fact to stop crying. You didn't, for it was all they knew. Besides, she had watched as they risked life and limb for the other more times then she could count. She knew what was behind the orders and witty remarks.
Brotherhood.
When he stopped her from cleaning she looked up at him knowing that he was only going to make Merlin do it. "Are you doing to clean it up?' She asked trying to sound teasing but knowing he would not. "I would not be able to enjoy supper knowing there is a mess on the floor, and we agreed that it would be just us here." So either she cleaned it, or he did.

"Are you doing to clean it up?" Arthur hated cleaning, mostly because he had never done it. Other than the rare moments he was with her and picking up after themselves. Such as the time he had 'cooked' dinner in her home and he had washed the plates after wards. "If you promise to sit and not do any work, then yes. I promise to pick everything up." He wanted to take care of her. She deserved at least one day of not doing anything. He knew it was as much of a rarity for her not to work, as it was for them to spend the entire day together. But he did not want her tiring herself, not while she was getting better. She had not spent the entire night and part of the day regaining her strength, only to lose it again.
He took her hand and led her over to the chairs, urging her to sit down. "Now please sit," he told her, not as an order but more a . . . polite request. He could never quite order her around, not after what he felt for her. His mind often went back to that time he had spouted out orders to her, or even when he had her arrested and just so casually and coldly walked down the hallway as she was getting dragged. It was a horrific image to remember . . . one that only further demonstrated how far the two of them had come. "Or will I have to get Cabal and Bohrs to make sure you don't move?" He teased, but he could already seen the dogs making their way over to the two of them, clearly not liking to be left alone for too long.

Guinevère smiled as he lead her over to one of the chairs before asking her to sit down. She sat down slowly thinking that this was a complete role reversal, "No, I will sit here." She promised, so he would not get his dogs to make her keep sitting there. She waited there while he left her to do her bidding. "I thought you said they needed exercise?" But he'd not elaborate on how or where or when.
She wondered if they would be joining them for supper. The hour was growing late and she wondered if they would eat here too. What did dogs eat? Meat of some sort she'd imagined but she didn't know for sure. She'd once heard the cook say that the dogs ate everything around them. She stomach growled softly and for once she could not blame them. The only food she'd eaten since waking up was the little meal Arthur and her ate on the bed. "What shall we eat tonight?"

When she sat down, he turned to the mess. Did he ever hate cleaning. This was what Merlin was for: picking up his mess. Its what he got paid for anyhow. He began to pick up the sewing supplies, the needles, cloth and scissors and carried it over to the table, while listening and answering her first question. "They do. I will have someone take them out for a bit so that they can run around," he told her. He left it vague for he was not sure who would do it. Perhaps one of the knights who was patrolling and didn't mind going for a walk with the animals. But he purposely left Merlin's name out of it so that she would know he was not planning on making Merlin do it. He would have done it, and asked her to join them for a walk . . . but apart from her healing state, it was still not safe for her to go out right now. Not until they caught all the enemies who had conspired against them.
Once the sewing supplies were set down on the table, he picked up all the pillows, pausing in front of her so that he could answer her question before heading over to his bed. "Pheasant I believe," he told her. It would be something knew for both of them, as in the meals they shared in the past -- the rare dinners -- it was usually chicken, for it was something that had an odd sort of sentiment. This time, he wanted it to be a bit more of an occasion, to celebrate so many things; to honor the day they could spend in each others company. And more simply, they had already had chicken for lunch. "Does that suit my lady?" He asked, making the words sound more intimate and persona, rather than a formal title. He knew the discomfort she felt when anyone addressed her with such formality, so he ensured it sounded more casual, more sentimental than addressing her as a noble woman.

Guinevère wasn't comfortable with anyone calling her my lady. it still unnerved her and made her want to look behind her to see who was there. She wasn't used to it. The only person who could do it and it not do any of the above was Gwaine. The only reason he could do it was because he did it long before her brother was knighted. He did it to almost every girl. To him it wasn't a title but a pet name of sorts when he didn't know the girls name or was trying to charm her.
When he spoke of a meal she smiled but it faded some when he told her what he wanted. "I've never had it." She admitted it knowing it was a meal only nobles or the rich could afford. The bird was small and hard to kill and trace; then once that was done the bones splintered so you had to removed them with care. Between the work in hunting and cooking it, you had to be rich and lucky to eat it.
She thought about telling him not to order it but she didn't want to ruin there evening by telling it it was too much work to ask of her friends. She did feel rather guilty however.

Arthur was not totally oblivious. He knew that pheasant was something only the rich ate, so he was not surprised to hear her say that she had never had it. Nor did he miss the way in which he smiled faded. Did she not relish the thought of pheasant? "Would you prefer something else?" He offered, wondering if she was not hungry, or if she wanted something a bit lighter than a full meal. While he knew she was not the slightest bit picky, he did wonder if he medicine -- or perhaps the aftermath of what she had drank yesterday -- was heavily affecting her appetite. He had established that he wanted to take care of her; he wanted today to be perfect for her. The last thing she would need was have something in front of her that she could not stand the smell of or even the taste of -- even if she had never had it.
"We could always have chicken again. I know how much you love it when I am not trying to cook it," he told her smiling, a bit jokingly though it held truth. He remembered that time he had attempted to cook . . . or not really. He also knew that it was something they could not easily joke about when at the time, it had been a bit of an argument. But, it had led to something else . . . it had shown that they cared about each other. For his actions the next day had proven that.

Guinevère looked up at him when he asked what she wanted to eat and even went as far to joke about what they could have. He was giving her a chance to ask for something else with out her having to make a fuss. It was just one of the many reasons that she loved him. He just always seemed to know what was going on with her and how to react to it.
"I think that what you suggested sounds wonderful," She told him, not wanting to back out now. She did feel guilty, and she did hate to make her friends do any sort of work, yet . . . She also wanted him to know that she was trying and that she would not make a fuss every time he did something too . . . noble or king like. Something she was not used too.
He seemed willing to do things her way, she should be willing to do her best to do things his way. Besides, she was going to pick her battles and only make a big deal out of the things that felt like a big deal to her, not just her pride. "Today seems to be about trying new things, anyhow."

He smiled when she said that it sounded wonderful. He could still sense some hesitancy, but was not going to further question her. If she said it was fine, then why try and argue about it? He had an idea as to where it was stemming from, but did not say anything on the matter. He was well aware of the adjustment period that she would undergo when queen -- and even now when their relationship was more public, and her brother a knight. It would take a lot of getting used to and he wanted to ease her into the transition, even if she would never fully be able to adjust to it. "It is," he said in full agreement. "For one, this is the first time I have not worn shoes all day," he said in a kidding manner. But, it was true. He felt so odd wandering around without his boots on and his sword at his side.
But of course, that was just one of the more trivial rarities of the day. The more important thing was that they were spending it together. He made his way over to the bed to drop down the pillows onto it, and then walked back over to where she was sitting. "And this is the first time I have been in my chambers for the entirety of the day." He was not saying it as a complaint, but rather something that he was fairly excited about for he was with her. If he had to spend the entire day in his chambers alone . . . well, that was an entirely different story. "You trying pheasant for the first time certainly is a more momentous new experience." More so than what he had just listed above. He was just keeping the mood light; enjoyable; casual.

He's never spent the day in his room? She found her self wondering what he did with his free time when he was not being a prince (now being a king) or training knights or working too hard. She knew what he did with his free time now, but what of before he spent it with her? She made a mental note to ask him once they sat down to eat. Right now she'd let him do the cleaning and get them some supper.
She turned to the table and from where she sat began moving some stuff around so they would have time to eat before starting to work on her sewing again. She wanted the shirt done and with the hours she had given it so far it was coming along well! Shirts were simple, you sew the fabric together and then if needed added holes for ties. They did not have embroidery on them, so the time it took to make one was only hours rather then days.

When the pillows were back, and the floor cleared, Arthur made his way to the the cabinet where he kept the collars and leashes for Cabal and Bohrs. He called for them, and put the collar around their neck so that whomever was going to be taking them could have a bit of control over them. After all they weren't so obedient to others apart from himself. Holding onto the leashes he went over to the door, opening it see Sir Truan keeping guard. He must have switched with Arryn. "Can you make sure they're fed and exercised some time tonight," he told Truan, passing him the leashes. "And if you could send word to the kitchen to prepare dinner. We will be having it in my chambers."
Rather than the grand hall. His room had been their little sanctuary for the day and he was not about to change that. Why break out of a location that they both felt so comfortable in. He gave an appreciative nod to Truan before closing the door. "Dinner should be ready soon," he assured her, knowing it would not take all that long for their meal to be prepared. Besides, they were probably already making dinner for the others. With Bohrs and Cabal gone, they could not be alone once again. He began to shift things around on the table they would be eating at, making sure there was enough space, and setting on it a couple of candles to give a bit more light and just add some decoration to it.

Guinevère watched him work thinking that he seemed to have a real knack for cleaning, even if he never did it. Maybe it was just his personality, to not half do anything. He was the type who put his heart and soul into what he did. It reminded her of her father in some ways, and it gave her a comfort she rarely got from anywhere--or anyone else.
She looked down at the shirt and sewed the last few stitches of the arm before turning it to start sewing the other arm on to it. She had made the V of the shirt wide, so he could both have room in the shirt and she would be able to see a bit more of his chest while it was unlaces. She would add laces later, to give him a more modest look to the shirt. Looking up at him thinking of him dress int he dark tones of black while his fair skin and hair off set the color; she noticed that he was setting us candles.
There was a skill he learned quickly or did on his own with no guidance what so ever. He did set up a wonderful table! He always added flowers to please her and knew just how to make it romantic. "Very nice," She called to him.

"Very nice." He looked at her when he heard this compliment and gave a proud grin. While he was a completely rubbish cook, he at least knew a thing or two about setting the scene. That evening in Guinevère's house, the only thing he had actually done was set the table. And then of course at the picnic. Preparing the food was an entirely different matter. He had tried to cook a chicken but the most he could do was look between its legs and wonder how anyone managed to make it into something edible. He wasn't making any immediate plans to learn either. He'd stick to the hunting bit as that was something he was better versed in. He could transform the animal from alive to dead, but not from raw to edible. He doubted that was a skill he'd ever have to use . . . only when trying to impress Guinevère of course.
When the candles were set he went over to pick up a vase; one that was unbroken and the flowers replaced with more Forget Me Nots. He set the vase in the middle of the table, making sure there would still be room for the food, and that it did not look too crowded. He took a step back as if to inspect it. It was not the best, but under the circumstances, it was suitable. The more important thing was the company he would have at dinner. It did not matter what they ate, or how the table was set . . . so long as he was with her, it was perfect.
