Uther made his way slowly out of his chambers and into the dining area. He was still somewhat weak, but he knew that he could not stay in bed too long if he wantd to have any chance of presenting an impression of stregnth to those around him and to the kingdom in general. After his talk with Gwen, his manservant had been located to get him dressed, and now he was as ready as he was going to get.
Uther knew that the tension would be unavoidable, and it was still palpable in his mind as he sat down. Arthur wasn't aware of how much he'd discerned, but he knew that when the prince became aware of what had been discussed recently, he likely would have quite a bit to say about it. Uther just hoped that he could diffuse the situation by making Arthur aware that he wasn't going to banish the girl, at least not right now. He couldn't do anything that would push Arthur away from him forever.

Guinevère was not above running away from danger. Indeed she was all for running away when afraid of something, especially if that something was a dinner with Uther. While she had encouraged him to go eat with his son, she had not meant for Arthur to bring her along with him. She was wearing her pink dress, as it was her most . . . . well it was her only dress up dress. She walked down the hall with Arthur and when they got to the closed doors that lead to the dinner room she tired once more to leaving him.
"Your father is waiting for you," She told him as she reached up to adjusted his already perfect shirt. It was just her nerves making her do such a thing, as she was fighting not to adjust her own clothing over and over again. She was rather hoping that she would be able to make it to the kitchens or to find Merlin or Alex were she was safe. "I will see you later then." She told him before turning and walking away.

Today was a very important day. Today, Guinevère and himself would be dining with his father. When he first developed feeling for her, this moment had seemed to be an impossibility. In fact, he distinctly remembered telling her that his father would never understand. And now, he had no choice but to understand. With the great tension between the father and son already, he knew he would not do anything drastic to anger Arthur. He knew it would fully push him away, and he would not allow it. No. Instead, today, they would be dining with him and Arthur would formally introduce Guinevère as his fiance. The woman that he would marry. The Queen of Camelot. And whether his father agreed to this or not, whether he condoned this pairing or not, had little effect on the Prince. But that of course did not mean he did not want them to get along. He still loved his father and of course he loved Gwen, so he wished fr there to be peace between them. But this would take work, and Arthur would do whatever he could do ensure it . . . starting with a nice, civil dinner between the two of them.
Arthur watched her fix his tunic and then turn to leave. Where was she going?! Arthur held out his arm, blocking her path, as it he put his arm around her waist, pulling her in front of him. She was not leaving this dinner, for it would have to take place sooner or later. "It'll be alright Guinevère," he told her, knowing that even with this reassurance, she would still be nervous. "Come on," he said, holding out his arm for her to take as they made their way into the dining hall. His faher was already seated, at the head of the table, and even though Arthur was acting king, he had no problem with the positions. He went over to one of the chairs to pull it out for Gwen, wanting to be the one to do so for he knew how she felt about servants doing such things. "Father," he greeted, nodding his head a bit before going over to his own seat, across from Guinevère and next to his father.
