.:Name of Character:.Merlin .:Nick Name:. Emyrs (By Mordred and the Druids) .:Age:.22 .:Status:. Servant to the prince
| ~ ⢠~ | Appearance | ~ ⢠~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Merlin isn't exactly what you would call a strong guy. He not overly that tall standing about 5 foot 9 so is considerably small than the knight of Camelot who could easily knock the poor boy out of the way. His build is rather scrawny from growing up in the farming village of Ealdor. He not completely skin and bones but he could do with a it of toughening up. This said Merlin could still hit somebody with a bit of force if he ever need to as he does have a bit of muscle form working out in farming fields in his village.
Merlin has quite a common looking appearance with his dark brown hair that is usually is some sort of scruffy state especial after playing lackey for Arthur all day. Though at times Merlin's hair may seem black as a result of the lighting he is in. His eyes are a pale icy blue but are never cold towards friends. His eyes are also a big conveyor of his emotions as sometimes no matter how hard he tires those who know him well can most of the times guess what he's about to do just by the look of them.
Though there are times when a golden glint comes over his eyes. This happens when Merlin uses magic though it only last for the second he casts his spell. Otherwise his eyes are their usual misty blue. His skin his rather pale but nothing to drastic as pale skin isn't too unseen around Camelot and the surrounding areas as it isn't know to be one of the sunniest places in the world. Some people think Merlin is little frail looking but he perfectly fine, though if he's ill at all you can definitely tell.
When it comes to clothes Merlin dresses like any other citizen of Camelot. He mostly wears a plain tunic usually in faded red or blue color made out of a simple cloth fabric. It may not be the fanciest of clothes but Merlin isn't bothered about what he wears too much. Also around his neck he often wears a scarf like piece of material in the opposite color the the top he his currently wearing. This is also made out of a similar material to his tunic. Around his waist he wears a strip of tough leather with a small buckle and hole punched it in the he uses for a belt.
Over his tunic he wears a worn tan brown jacket that loseley hangs round it. It is made from a bit more hard wearing material but is still pretty flimsy. Along with that he wears a pair of common brown trousers which are more of a duller mud brown colour than his jacket. These took into the plain brown boots the most servants wear that reach just over is ankle and are more than lightly made of some sort of hide or leather. All though on some royal occasion Merlin has been required to wear the traditional robes of the Servants of Camelot but he tends to try on not wear then as he isn't particularly fond of their fashion. .:Height:.Five foot nine .:Portrayed by:. Colin Morgan
| ~ ⢠~ | Personality | ~ ⢠~ |
.:Personality:.Merlin has proved on many occasions that he is not always the brightest of the bunch as on quite a few occasions he was said somethings that he has come to regret. And quite often this has landed the poor boy in the stocks. But he has also proved that he can be resourceful if the occasion arises for it as he save Arthur from being killed by Mary Collins in the guise of Lady Helen despite him not liking Arthur much then. But quickly as the two spent time together they became friends and Merlin would probably trust Arthur with his life.
Merlin though is still quite naive and doesn't really notice when somebody has romantic feelings for him. Or if he does he tends to ignore it not really wanting to get entangled in love as it may stop him later on from making the right decisions needed to fulfill his destiny. But despite this Merlin is a very selfless person always putting other people infront of himself. Even if it means rather bad consequences including death Merlin has stepped up and taken the blame even if he was not involved with the circumstances at hand.
But their is also a darker side to Merlin that admittingly not many people see. This is where he is willing to go to extreme measure to save the lives of his loved ones like his mother and also those he cares about, even if it means he has to kill his enemies. He doesn't like to be involved with peoples death in any way, shape or form but he will do it to protect those dear to him and also so that he can fulfill his destiny and bring magic back to the kingdom of Camelot by making sure that Arthur stays alive long enough for him to become the king of Camelot. All though he is not willing to take the easy option and let somebody kill King Uther as he knew that would hurt many people, especially Arthur which he wants to avoid at all costs.
Merlin is also very loyal to his family and friends though sometimes it may seem that he deserted them he always comes running in the end. He can also be a bit of a tease, especially around Arthur as he knows even though Arthur may threaten him he isn't really scared of the Prince. In actual fact he and Arthur a kind of like brothers since they arn't supposed to treat each other like equals as they do with Arthur being the crowned Prince and Merlin just a lowly servant, they often cover up their true relationship by bickering and squabbling between themselves often enough.
Merlin being a sorcerer has to hide his magical abilities from all but a select few people who he feels he can trust to keep his secret from Arthur and more importantly Uther. If he found out Merlin would almost certainly be dead. Despite the magic ban in Uther domain Merlin continues to learn more about his abilities and is keen on learn the different ways he can use his magic, especially if they can be used to help others. Though on numerous occasions Merlin has risked his secret being discovered showing that he doesn't always think of every option before he acts. .:Strengths:. Magic Loyalty Quick thinking (though may not be the best of ideas) Determination .:Weaknesses:. Can be stubborn at times Not always listening properly Faithfulness can get him in trouble .:Magic Abilities:. *Natural magical abilities * ability to slow down an object's movement through time as well as move them on demand without the need of incantations *use telepathy to contact other people with magical abilities as well as learn magic through telepathy *sense powerful magic *mastery of the power of life and death, which he achieved after only two encounters with it. .:Special Skills:.Though he may not know it yet he is a dragon lord. .:Accents:. Merlin's accent is that of the common everyday English man. Although it does differ a little to those of the people in Camelot with him growing up in a country laying village.
| ~ ⢠~ | History | ~ ⢠~ |
.:Birthplace:. Ealdor .:Family:. Mother - Hunith Father - Balinor (possibly dead) Uncle - Gaius .:Friends:.Arthur Gwen Morgana Will (dead) .:Occupation:. Servant of the Prince, also help the court physician Gaius .:Current Location of Residence:. Physicians quarters, Camelot .:History:. Merlin was born in the small village Ealdor in Albion. His mother is Hunith and his father is Balinor, a Dragonlord. Merlin was born with a strange power that enables him to slow down the movement of time, both mentally and physically, and move objects to wherever he wishes. According to The Great Dragon, Merlin's birth has been prophesied by many cultures. For example the Druids refer to him as "Emrys" (Meaning "Immortal"), and it is the name Mordred calls him by.
Growing up Merlin didn't have too many friends as the village he lived in was relatively small. But his best friend was a boy name Will and was one of the few people who knew about Merlin's magic. The two was close friends growing up and Merlin found that it helped that Will knew about his secret as it meant he could be completely honest with somebody other than his mother. But when the time came to leave Merlin had to leave behind his friends and family in the village of Ealdor before leaving for the great city of Camelot.
Upon his arrival in Camelot Merlin saves Gaius from a fatal fall from a balcony in his apartments in the city. He gives Merlin a magic spell book in order to advance his skills but advices Merlin to hide his powers as the king, Uther Pendragon, has made all forms of magic illegal. During his first week in Camelot Merlin hears a voice calling him. He goes down to he dungeons of the castle and discovers The Great Dragon. The dragon tells Merlin that he is destined for great things, and that he will aid Arthur in his destiny to become king.
Throughout the series the dragon frequently gave Merlin advice, although Merlin rarely understood them at first as the advice is usually in riddles. As well as being dogsbody to Gaius, Merlin became the personal servant to Arthur after he saved him from being impaled by a dagger thrown by Mary Collins. Although the pair share an antagonistic relationship at first the two quickly begin to trust each other. Merlin also befriends Guinevère, known as "Gwen", servant to Morgana, and later Morgana herself.
Merlin frequently uses his magic to help others, sometimes without thinking of the consequences. When Gwen's father's life is threatened by a strange plague in Camelot Merlin uses his magic to heal him; this subsequently leads Arthur to assume she healed him with witchcraft and had caused the plague in the first place. Merlin uses his magic to help a swordsman named Lancelot to make him look like a nobleman's son to enable him to join the Knights of Camelot and later to enchant his lance to aid in killing a Griffin. He uses his powers to save Uther from being killed by one of Edwin Muirden's beetles despite the risk of his powers being discovered.
He takes this risk again when his home village is attacked by bandits and he raises a wind in front of Arthur in order to help them win the fight. However his friend Will, who is fatally wound during the battle, takes the blame for the magic before he dies. However Merlin's magic has also helped expose witches and warlocks with more sinister motives. He managed to expose Knight Valiant's magical snake shield during the final of the sword tournament, saving Arthur's life.Merlin frequently also has to make life altering choices, often dealing with the Dragon's advice to him.
The first of two notable examples occur when he has to choose whether to help Mordred escape from Camelot or to allow him to be caught and killed; Merlin ultimately chose the former when Mordred begged him to help him. The second is after the death of Gwen's father and Morgana plots with Tauren to kill Uther and the Dragon advises him to do nothing. Despite his intense dislike of Uther because of his persecution against his kind Merlin refuses to believe that it is right to kill him. He ultimately chooses to save him when Gwen states that she wouldn't kill him because that would make her no better that Uther. Merlin life has been full of many more adventures like these and probably many more to come his way.
