“I think so too” she nodded, “It’s nothing I can’t handle, but I will still tell you. I very much doubt he’d lay a finger on me now that he’s met you” she smiled. If Eldon were to insult Romily then she was sure that Gwaine would kill him. Romily knew that in a few weeks she would be away from Eldon and Agnes and with Yassia, so she could then decide what she then wanted to do.
She knew Yassia would want her in Camelot with her, but Romily knew that she couldn’t just up and leave her job like that. It would make her appear inconsiderate to those who were her friends in the village. No matter how much Romily wanted to break free from The Ram – she knew that she wouldn’t be doing so anytime soon. The again, who knew what opportunities lay in wait when she would get to Camelot.
The conversation then turned to Frederick. Romily didn’t want to delve too much into Gwaine’s past and she was pretty sure that he didn’t really want to speak of it. “He’s nothing I can’t handle” she said, “Besides, I don’t think I’ll be running into him again. I’ve no desire to return to Carmelide”.
She could see that Gwaine was thinking about this one. There was no way she’d allow him to come face to face with Frederick. She didn’t want him to know too much. “Im sure that by now he is most likely married to a princess or something – if anything it’s hardly worth me running him through because he isn’t worth the time of day”.
“I just want to lie her beside you, look at you, marvel at your beauty, making sure I’m not dreaming at all…”
She was about to open her mouth to reply when he kissed her again. She pulled him closer, not wanting him to let go. Finally, she stopped the kiss and smirked at him. “Do you still think that you’re dreaming?” She asked and toyed with the laces on his tunic, her hand running gently down his chest, “or do you still need some convincing?”

Gwaine was feelings all comforted now that Romily had promised to tell him everything that Eldon would do to her. While he had practically saved and helped her, that landlord of hers had been getting the best end of the deal by literally enslaving her while he and his daughter act like royalty and do nothing at all. “I sincerely hope for his sake that he doesn’t anymore.”
If only it were that easy to take her to Camelot with him, he would have already offered. But he wasn’t so sure if she would want to go with him. And even if she does, Gwaine would have to sort all his past and present with her. In time, he will reveal all. And when that time comes, he’d he ready to offer to take her away with him. He just hoped Romily could wait. He just hoped no other man would catch her fancy between now and that time. He trusted her, and he knew she trusted him, too. It was now up to the Fates to work with them, and this beautiful thing that was going on between them now.
Gwaine only nodded and didn’t say anymore when she practically put a period to their discussion about Frederick. From her story and from the anger that had flickered across her face, Frederick was one of those men who don’t deserve to live or to enjoy life at all. If Gwaine were to have his way, he’d kill the bastard now.
As their kissed deepened, Gwaine moved himself closer towards Romily, his hand snaking around her waist as he pulled her closer to him. Her soft body molded perfectly against his hard one, and it was exhilarating to be finally this close to her. He couldn’t help the laugh that escaped him when she teased him and started playing with the laces on his tunic.
“I don’t know…” Gwaine teased back. “You still feel like you could disappear like a mist before my eyes, and then I’d only wake up in the middle of these woods all alone and desperate.”

“You still feel like you could disappear like a mist before my eyes, and then I’d only wake up in the middle of these woods all alone and desperate.”
Desperate? Well that was something that she could make him feel. “You never know…I may decide to slip away” she spoke against his lips but didn’t kiss him, instead she shifted herself from his embrace and stood up, letting her hair down from it’s clip. She now had a pain in the back of her head where it had been pressed between the ground and her hair. Time to put her little plan into action.
She then turned to Gwaine and smirked, “Who knows, I might not ever come back” with that she smiled to herself and began to walk away from him and where they had been sitting. She knew that he would most likely be confused or come after her. She decided it was more probable that he would do the latter.
If there was one thing that Romily could do to him, then it was making him feel even more desperate than he already appeared to be. Right know she seemed to be doing a good job. She’d already driven him over the edge when they had countless of interruptions before their first kiss – so this was the going to be the cherry on top of the cake.

Gwaine’s brows furrowed in confusion at Romily’s response. What is she talking about? He could hear his own thoughts suddenly all rattled and dazed. She can’t be teasing him like that now, can she? Gwaine tried to keep the confused grin on his face from faltering, but when she shifted away from his embrace and stood up, Gwaine sat up looking like a poor little puppy all drenched in cold water.
“Who knows, I might not ever come back”
“Now, that’s that just cruel,” Gwaine replied as he finally stood up. Biting his lips, he watched as she literally sashayed away from him, her hips delicately swaying as she sauntered away. He would love to admire the view of her elegantly curved back from where he was standing, but he couldn’t bear the thought of being away from her when he was this close to getting her. He didn’t realize she was such a tease, until now.
Well, two can play at her game. “You come back here this instant, Romily, or I’ll give you a spanking like you’ve never had before,” Gwaine called out as he crossed his arms over his chest, trying to look as menacing as he possibly could. He didn’t know if that would work though. Between him and Romily, he knew he was more whipped. He wondered how long he’d be able to stand being away from her like this when she already got him all excited and wound up. Not for long perhaps.

“Now, that’s that just cruel,” she heard him say as she sauntered away. She smirked and carried on walking.
“Life is cruel Gwaine, but we just have to deal with it” she called back merrily and stopped, looking out to admire the view that had become so familiar to her. She turned to see Gwaine getting up and folding his arms. He didn’t look at all pleased.
“You come back here this instant, Romily, or I’ll give you a spanking like you’ve never had before,”
“No” she called half laughing. “Because if I did then who knows what could happen - you wouldnt dare hurt me”.
She gave him a sweetly innocent smile. “Besides, I want to see how long it takes you to stay away from me. Surely I cant have that much of an effect on you? You lasted a week without seeing me, so what harm is there from being away from me for a few more minutes?”
Romily had no idea where this had all come from so suddenly, but she was brave enough to actually walk away from him when she could have easily given in and kissed him again. This was fun, toying with his mind – she’d love to know what he was thinking right now, she knew that he would be the first to cave in. After all – he had done earlier when they had kissed.

She was totally and definitely having the time of her life teasing him like this. And Gwaine had to admit it was working. Even his little threat didn’t do anything to put even just a small a dent to her plan to make him all desperate and desolate. If anything, it only strengthened her resolve to tease him more, see him suffer like the hungry and yearning little puppy that hew as. He was totally a goner now, Gwaine only knew that too well.
But no, he will play her game, and he knew she would love for him to no matter what she was taunting him with now. “I can totally stand a month without you,” Gwaine retaliated with a total lie. He’d probably die if he couldn’t see or hold Romily for even just a fraction of a second. He turned away from her, looking at the other side of the cliff, which was just as breathtaking as what was on Romily’s side. But still, it paled in comparison to the view that included his pretty golden-haired goddes standing right in the middle of it.
He turned his head to look her way, wondering what she was doing, and caught her looking at him with that same impish laugh evident on her face. He had definitely met his match in Romily. The woman was going to be the death of him, seriously. But still, Gwaine wasn’t going to give up just yet. Not yet. He could probably still stand a couple more minutes. “If I don’t know any better, you wanted to be spanked, you naughty little minx you,” Gwaine said laughing now. The thought amused and excited him to no end.

“I can totally stand a month without you,” “No you can’t!” she half sang. Instead she turned and walked back towards him, head held high and ready to keep on. She finally came to a stop in front of him. “I bet you couldn’t stand another second”. She challenged and looked up at him with mischief in her eyes.
“You know what’s really sad Gwaine?” she asked and once again chose to toy with the laces on his shirt. “It’s the fact that we both know we can’t stay away from one another any longer”. She didn’t look at him as she said this, best just to act casually to even give him more reason to want her.
“If I don’t know any better, you wanted to be spanked, you naughty little minx you,”
She pursed her lips. “You forget – you should be treating me like a lady” she chuckled, “and im very sure that spanking me is not very chivalrous at all”. But it was intriguing, and she knew that Gwaine was more than prepared to carry on with these harmless threats.
Romily ran a hand down his cheek and caressed it slightly with her thumb. “You do know that when it comes to this battle, im already winning – don’t you?” she asked.
It was fun to let this side of her be known. Gwaine appeared to be enjoying to so at least she finally had some freedom to be a little wild than the meek little Lady of Wolfhall that she had been.
“Now…shut up and kiss me”

How was it possible that she knew him better than anybody else despite them having met only a week ago? How was it possible that she could have this much effect on him when he barely knew anything about her except all that she had been telling him? Gwaine knew the answer, and it wasn’t hard for anyone to guess it, too. He was whipped. Truly and faithfully whipped by this amazing woman right here.
He held his chin up and crossed his arms over his chest, trying to show her that he was unaffected by her game when the truth was that his hands were aching so much to hold her. When she toyed with the laces on his shirt again, he gave her a frown as if he was this stubborn little boy who wouldn’t budge to anything.
“You don’t know what I will and will not do,” he told her, his voice clipped, but already a hint of surrender could be heard there. Even the edges of his lips were starting to curl up into a smile.
But when she ran her hand down his cheek, all pretenses left him and Gwaine all but melted in her ministrations.
“Now…shut up and kiss me”
“Goodness, Millie, I thought you’d never ask.” Gwaine gushed out as he closed what little distance stood between them, and gathered Romily into his arms and crushed her lips against his own. She was right, he could never stand a mere second without her, and he was glad to know she felt the same way. He couldn’t deny it, too, that he loved seeing this teasing wild side of her.
When they pulled back from what was possibly a long and passionate kiss, Gwaine still held her close to him as he whispered. “You are a naughty little girl for making me suffer like that. Now, should I tickle you or spank you instead?” Gwaine mused as he held Romily tight, making sure she couldn’t easily worm out of his embrace that easily like she did the last time.

“Goodness, Millie, I thought you’d never ask.” When Gwaine kissed her she felt as though she had no worries in the world. When he kissed her it felt like a blot of lightning streaming through her body on a collision course. When he kissed her she felt safe and under control. When he kissed her – she felt the adoration and love sear up and through again.
She couldn’t bear to be away from him. What on earth was it that made her be drawn to him so badly? Even though she was with him she still hadn’t yet figured that part out. Gwaine, however was savouring this moment as though it had been years since they’d last set eyes on one another.
“And I thought you never would” she laughed against his lips and drew away from him, still staying in his embrace. She was sure that he wouldn’t let her go as easily this time. “You are a naughty little girl for making me suffer like that. Now, should I tickle you or spank you instead?”. She smirked at him. “I’d rather just lie with you on the blanket until darkness falls”
She wove her hand around the back of his neck, “and I’d rather you keep a hold of me, otherwise I might just stray again. At this, she went and sat back down on the blanket waiting from him to join her again.
"Are you coming?" she asked

“I’d rather just lie with you on the blanket until darkness falls”
“I’d like that, too,” Gwaine responded with a husky burr in his voice. The entire week that he had been away from Romily had been torture. It was never like him to want to be with anyone as bad as he wanted her. Usually, he’d launch into a flirtation or two with a maiden, and then when he'd leave, that was all there was to it. But with Romily, it wasn’t. She filled every waking moment of his every day. She even managed to infiltrate his dreams. To be spending quite a time with her like this today was literally a dream come true.
He watched as she slinked away from his grasp and settled herself onto the blanket. When she coaxed him in that irresistible way, who was Gwaine to refuse. He all but rushed towards her, kneeling beside where she sat, and cupped her cheeks in his hand before leaning his head down to kiss her again. Slowly, he brought her down to lie on the blanket, him lying beside her as his kisses grew stronger and more passionate.
When Gwaine pulled back for air, his fingers traced gentle lines on her cheek and down her jawline as he looked down at her, face flushed and lips swollen from their kiss. He knew he probably looked just as flushed from the liplock. “I could never get over the thought of how beautiful you are, Millie,” Gwaine told her with a smile on his face. Then the smile disappeared and was replaced by a rather serious countenance. “And I feel like I’m trapped in your spell, but I don’t care. I’d rather be ensorcelled forever if it mean I’d be spending all my days with you.” Then Gwaine couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up his chest. "That was really cheesey," he said laughing, as he lay his head beside Romily's, and looked up at the sky above them.

He was practically all but running towards her at her invitation. Romily knew that he would. She chuckled slightly as he brought her to lie back on the blanket. “What are you doing?” she smirked and was then met with his lips again. She pulled away at first, “Now that wasn’t fair” she said and then leant up to kiss him again.
She didn’t want this to end. For the first time in her life she actually felt wanted and loved. It felt all warm and fuzzy to her. Gwaine eventually pulled away and said something about how beautiful she was.
“Im anything but that” she told him, “and now I suppose you’re going to tell me otherwise”. Men had commented on her beauty before. Romily had just brushed off their comments. She was just – well – Romily. Other people might like to look at her but if she were in their shoes, she wouldn’t be looking at all, a glance perhaps but that was it.
“And I feel like I’m trapped in your spell, but I don’t care. I’d rather be ensorcelled forever if it mean I’d be spending all my days with you”
Romily smiled at this “but its no spell – just reality”. Well it was? She lent up and kissed him again, “and besides, you’d be bored stiff if you chose to spend all your days with me” she spoke against his lips. “Honestly – there’s nothing about me that’s at all interesting”. Other than the fact that she was actually a noble woman posing as a barmaid because she’d run away from home after her father had got the wrong end of the stick about her and Frederick, who was a complete ignorant sod to her.
No – nothing interesting at all.

He would never tire of his kisses, and wondered how he’d be able to endure being away from her for a week at a time. He ought to tell her everything about him, but then Gwaine feared she’d turn her back away and never talk to him. He was after all a knight, and Romily had made it clear she hated knights. Dang that Frederick! For a while there, Gwaine wished he was but the lowly vagabond. He wished he had met Romily when he wasn’t a knight of Camelot yet. He knew he would tell her eventually, but not right now when he had just received her sweet “yes” together with her equally sweet kisses.
He smiled when she denied his declaration of beauty, and then went on to guess what he was about to do next. “Fine. I won’t fight you on that. You’re the ugliest maiden I’ve ever set my sights on, but nevertheless I’d still want to be with you and spend every waking moment with you if I can,” he told her instead.
Gwaine laughed when she told him she wasn’t interesting at all. “Hmmm…I may have mistaken you for that beautiful blond goddess I met when I first walked into the Ram’s Head. She looked just like you. Golden hair, bright blue eyes, red lips. She had quite a bold and brazen personality, too, scolding those rowdy men who were about to pummel the drunk me to death,” Gwaine mused remembering that night. Yes, he had been way too drunk over his head, but he could still remember that near encounter in the bar when Romily had stepped up for him and practically silenced the men herself. If that kind of woman wasn’t interesting at all to a man like him, he didn’t know what else would be.
Then he leaned up on his elbows and turned to look at her. “If that wasn’t you, then who are you and what did you do to my beautiful sword-wielding barmaid?” he teased looking at her as seriously as he could without grinning.

She laughed at his words. “Well then im glad to hear that even with my ugliness you still find me appealing” and paced a small kiss on his lips again. Moments like this would last a lifetime.
“Did she now? And what did you make of her when you first saw her?” she smirked. “You didn’t think that she was out of her mind for practically going up against two men who could have easily killed her with one blow?” Romily could have killed them herself if she tried. No one had a brawl in her inn – that was the way it would stay!
On the mention of the ‘beautiful blonde goddess’ and she couldn’t help but smile at him. “She’s still around somewhere” came her reply and she rested her head on his chest. “Well, when I say somewhere – she’s very near indeed”
Romily could hear his heart beating away in his chest. “I wish I could stay like this forever” she announced, “Just lying here and letting the whole world pass by – it’s unlike anything I’ve experienced before, and you…” she paused, “Well, you are certainly unlike anyone ive experienced before, and you should take that as a compliment” she looked up at him and tapped his nose playfully.
“One day I’ll be free from Eldon and Agnes, then this ‘beautiful blonde goddess’ can do whatever she chooses to do without being questioned about it, or being told how to live her life”.
She wished that that day would come soon enough.

“I think we she was made of awesome. I think it was the sight of you holding a sword and scolding those men like their mothers that caught me. I knew then I was in love,” Gwaine replied teasing. Well, it may not have exactly been love then, but he knew she had certainly caught his eye that time. Women who are bold and brazen like that are few and far in between in his world. While some men would find it insulting to have a woman come to their defense, Gwaine was more than impressed. She knew how to stood her ground, and he wanted one like that in his life most definitely.
His hand went around her back, stroking along her spine up and down as she lay her head on his chest. A smile appeared on his face when she told him “that” woman is very near. To have her feel the same way towards him was such a wonderful gift indeed. She was extraordinary, and she was his. And he wanted this moment to last as much as she did.
A laugh escaped him as she playfully tapped his nose. That moment was precious, to have the woman he didn’t know he had been searching for all his life in his arms, loving him with her heart, wanting to be with him, feeling the same feeling. It was beyond marvelous. “You’re unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before in my life either, Millie. If only I could freeze this moment...” he replied with a smile, his eyes warm and happy.
“One day I’ll be free from Eldon and Agnes, then this ‘beautiful blonde goddess’ can do whatever she chooses to do without being questioned about it, or being told how to live her life”.
How he wanted to take her away right there and then. Tell her everything about him and just live the rest of his life with her. But of course, it was all too soon. Someday. Someday.
“One day, I will take you away from them,” was all Gwaine could promise. And he knew he was going to do his best to keep it. "Now tell me, what would you do first then? Once you're rid of Eldon and Agnes, what is the first thing that you'd want to do?" he asked, mighty curious as to what his lady love would do once she's free from the chains that are binding her down now.

Romily leant up and kissed him, before pulling away with a small smirk “No you didn’t”. She refused to believe that the scene of her with a sword in her hand made him fall for her. “I don’t think you’ve properly fallen in love with me yet.”
She felt his hand stroke up and down her spine. It brought shivers to her like a cold night. They were good shivers to say the least. His touch always seem to leave her skin with either a tingle or burn. “You’re unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before in my life either, Millie. If only I could freeze this moment...”. she was so wrapped up with many feeling at this moment that she’d only just realised what Gwaine was saying. Oh how right he was about the first part. She wanted so much to tell him all about her, of her past, he nobility. But Gwaine stated his dislike of nobles and it would kill him to know that she was one of them. No. He liked Millie the barmaid and not Lady Romily. The pair were no different from one another except the status, but she couldn’t. When the time was right perhaps she would come clean to him, but right now this moment was perfect the way it was.
“How so?” she asked, “don’t tell me you’ve never met barmaid who can’t defend her bar by herself”.
Ah yes. The plan of running away from it all. She didn’t know whether Gwaine would take her away from it all, but he seemed so determined that she couldn’t help but keep her hopes for that day. She ran a hand down his cheek, “how can you be so sure?” she asked, but already he was on about what she wanted to do when she was free of them.
Romily smiled. She’d never thought about it before. The Inn seemed to have taken over her future. She smiled lightly and looked out across the stunning view that they had. “Feel my freedom”. She replied and looked back at Gwaine, “I would like to feel as though im not bound in chains – perhaps later I would like to settle down with a man and raise a family. I’ve always said that I will never marry – I’ve never had a cause to, but now…I guess that anything is possible.” Her eyes met his and suddenly she felt very shy. She broke the gaze and turned back to the view. Romily knew that after this day was done, she would have to go back to reality. Right now, reality sucked and she wanted to stay in this dream forever.

“I don’t think you’ve properly fallen in love with me yet.”
Gwaine laughed at her retort. That was Millie. She was not one to believe things so easily, and he enjoyed proving things to her just for fun. “What is it like then to properly fall in love with you?” he asked looking deep into her eyes. “I’ve met a lot pretty barmaids in all my wanderings, but why am I so taken with you then? If that’s not love, tell me what it is?”
He looked up at the bright blue skies. “Most barmaids I’ve known and met usually hide behind my back, waiting for me to protect them. But you, you went out there and protected me instead. I felt like such a woman,” Gwaine replied laughing a little more loudly this time.
Listening to her speak about freedom and settling down to raise a family, Gwaine felt something warm tug at the corner of his heart. He couldn’t help the mental image that flitted onto his mind that very same moment. Of him and Romily, in a home they call their own, and with a handful of little ones with golden hair and blue eyes like her own running about all happy and noisy. Gwaine couldn’t deny that he liked that image. He wondered if Romily was picturing him with her in that future.
When their eyes met, Gwaine knew his were smoldering now with passion and love that he couldn’t hold back. When she shyly broke her gaze, Gwaine gently held her chin and turned her face to look back at him, then he planted another kiss on her lips.
This time the kiss was longer, more heartfelt and more passionate than before. He cupped her cheek in his hand as he deepened the kiss. Slowly, he rolled himself half on top of her as his kisses grew a little more fierce yet still gentle. He wanted to tell her how lucky he was to have met her, how lucky he was to have her in his life now. But words are never enough to tell her that. Gwaine hoped his kisses and the hunger that he had for her was more than enough to express his feelings.
It may be too soon or too early to talk about settling down with each other, but right now, all Gwaine wanted was to spend every waking day of his life from here on with her. Only her.

What was it like to fall in love with her? Romily smirked. “I’ll leave that for you to decide”.
“I’ve met a lot pretty barmaids in all my wanderings, but why am I so taken with you then? If that’s not love, tell me what it is?”
Romily looked at him. “Love is from the heart. Having the feeling that you want to be with that same person for the rest of your life. And when they’re not there – feeling a hole inside you that cannot be replaced. Love is the earth, wind and fire of your heart, and if you cannot feel any of those elements there, then clearly the person you are with does not hold such a feeling for you”. She told him – ok she realised that it probably didn’t make sense whatsoever but that was what she felt inside of her.
Gwaine seemed in thought now that she’d told him of what she’d wanted to do, such as raising a family. “What are you thinking about?” she smiled, “you have a little smirk on your face”. Instead of answering, he turned her chin to face him again and kissed her, practically half rolling himself onto her.
She broke the kiss and laughed lightly. He was looking at her – just showing how much passion he had and also showing this through his kisses. She wanted him in her life. It was unreal how so early on she could only see him and only him. She caressed his cheek with her thumb as she looked up at him.
“I wish I could stay like this forever” she admitted, now tracing the back of her hand down his cheek, “With you – just you”
