Merlin grinned at Gwen’s comment about him talking back to Arthur. “Come on Gwen, you saw what happened when I first met him – I guess I just wanted to get it into his thick head that he couldn’t treat people like that – he’s grown to accept what I say to him now, on a good day I get things thrown at my head, but the rest of the time he seems to listen and then argue back”
Ah. That was a question. What on earth was she going to do with Arthur for three days. For Merlin it would be three days of rest with a dose of Arthur dabbling on the sidelines, but for Gwen she seemed to think it would be hell. “Oh I wouldn’t worry, he won’t be here for most of the time, what with the tournament and all”. He could see the look on Gwen’s face changing ever so slightly.
“Talk” he finally said, “Just…talk to him – he wants to be treated just like any other person, which is why he came up with this stupid idea in the first place. I know you’ll find something to say or discuss – you’re good with making people feel at ease” he smiled. He remembered when she’d first introduced herself, his first and only friend in Camelot at the time. He was currently in the stocks and having his adoring fan base throwing vegetables at him. She’d said that everyone thought he was a hero. Merlin knew that from the moment Gwen had introduced herself, she would become one of his closest and dearest friends.
