"Then we shall share in that, and do this together." They had already done quite a bit together . . . but Arthur refrained from making that joke. Progress for him, as it was showing that he was already slightly maturing . . . just slightly. She then seemed to suggest that his apology was unnecessary as she stepped closer to him, causing him to just stare at her. Not in a dumbfounded or angry way . . . more as . . . well, he wasn't sure what emotion was behind his eyes. He knew what question was in his mind: had he really been her first? He had really not even noticed that she was a virgin?! Had he been that . . . preoccupied. Probably. She had done a rather good job of showing no signs of inexperience. In fact, she had been incredible. She had been so in tune with him, so aware of how to maximize his pleasure. To say that that night was not one that remained in his memory would be a lie.
And, that was a compliment to the woman who -- "I already am in love with her . . . or him." Oh! She was talking! . . . Oops. That wasn't a very good start of 'doing this together'. Focus Arthur, focus! "We're going to need to start planning." For how they were going to do this. "Starting by getting a doctor. Unless you already have one?" He had offered some suggestions before. The first name that popped in his mind was Doctor Mary Longstead. For she was the best in her field in all of England really. "And, telling our parents." His father. He didn't know how her mother and/or father would react. He knew that his own father would be furious! That, was something he was truly dreading. His father had always warned him about how he needed to settle down and such. To hear that he had gotten a woman pregnant . . . well, that was one conversation he would be absolutely terrified of having.

"We're going to need to start planning." Yes! Guinevère smiled, though it was more of a soft casual one rather then a bight excited one. That would be fun, setting up some sort of plan between them for how this would work. making sure they were on the same page and understanding. "Starting by getting a doctor. Unless you already have one?" She had one but wanted to make sure he felt involved, so she had known he--as a doctor--might want to suggest one. "If you have a suggestion, then I will be glad to go see them."
That way he felt like he was helping an being involved. As a teacher she knew that was important for students and the parents of the students. So only hoped the same thing worked on him. "And, telling our parents." Oh. "You do not have to worry about mine." She told him and shrugged slightly, "There is just me. I have a brother . . . somewhere, but he only checks in every now and then." Elyan and her were close emotionally but they didn't talk often.

He did have a suggestion. A recommendation. He wanted the best for her and their child, and he was going to get it. These were the benefits of having good connections; he was able to get the best doctor in the field for the mother of his child. The words, even in his thoughts, were difficult to fully acknowledge. But he hoped that with time, the shock and denial would subside. "I know of one. I'll make arrangements." But not before he spoke to his father. Dr. Longestead knew Uther very well, and if word were to get out that way . . . then it would make things all the more worse. She then spoke of not having any parents to worry about telling . . . were they both deceased? Well, obviously Arthur. That was what she had meant by her words. Good thing he didn't actually ask that. He could relate in the loss of a mother, but he was fortunate to still have a father.
"I see," he said pensively, showing that he had heard her words and wasn't ignoring them. But in his mind, still trying to figure out a way to broach the subject with his father. He casually happened to look at the clock, realizing the time, at which point he looked back at her. "I have to get back to work." Would she think that was just an excuse he used? To show disinterest? When in actuality, it was the truth. He best show that he was not trying to avoid this entire thing . . . he couldn't, even if he actually did want to. "My shift ends in a few hours. Maybe I can come by your place, and we can talk about, the situation." The kid. The baby. The . . . pregnancy. Everything. Because they would need to have many conversations at length about this. And tonight -- if she was free -- would just be the first of many.

"I know of one. I'll make arrangements." She hoped they were with in her budget, but did not say anything. She would wait until they had a chance to speak of things a bit more before making a point of not wanting his money, only his time. He could of course buy things for the baby, but she wasn't trying to take advantage of him, and felt that this would be.
Guinevère noticed he didn't say much on her parents and she didn't blame him. Most people gave her an awkward 'I'm sorry' because they didn't know what to say. "I have to get back to work." "Oh!" Right! he was an doctor! He was needed. She was at his job. For some reason the nurse came to her mind, and she wondered what he did at work--besides work. Not that it was her business!
It wasn't! "My shift ends in a few hours. Maybe I can come by your place, and we can talk about, the situation." "Sure!" She encouraged, knowing he knew where she lived. He'd been there once but she would have to make sure it was clean. While she kept her home clean all the time, there was a living clean and a 'guest is coming over' clean. '"If you would like, I could make supper, and we could talk about it over some food?" After working surely he would be hungry. She could at least feed him the poor man after dropping this bomb sell on him.

He gave a small smile at her offer to make food. Ordinarily, any offer from a woman to make him a home cooked meal was an enticing one . . . one that he seldom ever refused. Only this time, it was for very different circumstances. And that was when the first flicker of realization came into Arthur's mind . . . that he would have to drastically alter his lifestyle. "Only if you're up for it," he told her, not wanting her to cook if she wasn't feeling well. "If not, then I can just pick something up on my way over." Something that wasn't wine or champagne or anything else to make them lose their senses. Oh right, and she was pregnant of course. That was when another realization hit him . . . that she didn't have his number. No wonder she had to come to his job. He'd never given her another method of reaching him.
And now, he would give her every single possible way to get in touch with him. When only moments ago -- before she made this grand revelation -- he would not have cared if she had his number or not. Grabbing a notebook, he pulled the pen from his pocket and jotted down his cell phone number, as well as his pager number. Ripping it off the pad, he handed her the slip of paper. "My phone number. If my cell is off, then page me." Because he never wanted her to feel like he was unreachable. If they were really going to do this, if they were really going to have a baby together . . . then he needed to make himself more accessible. And always prioritize her. Meaning . . . not dates with Nurse Mithian Nemeth.

"Only if you're up for it," Guinevère gave him a slightly teasing look, "I'm pregnant. I'm always up for cooking and food." She joked, knowing it wasn't quite true but she didn't want him to think it an inconvenience. In fact she enjoyed cooking, and doing things around the house to make it feel like home rather then an small apartment in the lowertown. It suited her, it had a studio style bottom floor, and while you could walk from one end to the other in a few seconds it was large enough that one person could be at ease and not need more space.
Though she knew she would need to find a one floor flat. Her's had steps and the bedroom and bath took up the second floor. Babies and steps dd not do well. She was already looking for a cheap one floor flat. "My phone number. If my cell is off, then page me." "Thank you." She said softly, and paused for a second before she realized she should return the favor. Pulling the paper in half she reached for his pen. "Here," she handed it too him, "My cell phone and work number." Because her cell could not be on at work. "I'm a high school teacher, so if it's a school day then my cell will be off until after classes."

His smile grew a bit, with more amusement at her teasing remark. It seemed that she was in good spirits . . . and that made it easier for him to come to terms with this news. Though he knew, that this was only the beginning. Taking her number from her, he glanced over the digits before tucking the piece of paper into his pocket. He would have to put that into his phone later, so that he would not lose it. "Thank you," he said, then listening to her explain the best time to reach her. She was a high school teacher? Did he know that? If he did, he didn't remember. No matter. Soon enough, she would need to take maternity leave . . . and the earlier the better. Besides, money was no object. He could easily support her and the baby. It was never money that was an issue; just everything else. "Let me walk you out," he offered, hoping that it didn't sound like he was rushing her off. Though he really did have work to do.
And . . . he was trying to be polite with offering to escort her out. He opened the door for her, waiting to step out before he did the same, closing and locking his office behind him. "I can't remember if I asked you this before, but what do you teach?" He asked, hoping he didn't ask before . . . for it would make him look like a complete ass of himself by repeating the question that he should have already know. If nothing else, he was trying to make an effort to get to know her better. To get to know the woman who was carrying his child. When all he had previously known was her name, and what she was like in bed. Both things were valuable pieces of knowledge . . . but their relationship had automatically gotten deeper, now with a child involved. Besides, it would make for good conversation as they walked. For he was not ready to have a full public conversation about his unborn child. That was news that needed to be revealed delicately and with the utmost care.

"Thank you," "Your welcome," She said, though mostly out of habit and being polite. "Let me walk you out," "Oh, thank you. If you need to get back to work, I can walk myself out. I know your a doctor, I don't want to keep you from . . . umm . . . putting a band aid on someone or surgery." Oh goodness! What sort of doctor was he? She wasn't sure! For all she knew he spent his days engaging women's assets. Oh goodness?! Did he!? She hoped not. She would have to ask.
"I can't remember if I asked you this before, but what do you teach?" Oh! thank goodness! A question to distract her mind from the idea of him and women's assets. "I sort of teach different things at different times. Mostly history and English." She told him, while they walked, "Anything but math. I really get tripped up over that one." Math might not be her strong subject but history was. She loved it. "What sort of doctor are you? I don't think I asked, but that night is sort of foggy . . . most of it. I remember most of it, but I never drink, so the new glasses I did have really hit me hard. Apparently I am a light weight, when it comes to drinking." Not the ending. Being in his arms. That part was shocking clear.

He ignored her words about not wanting to trouble him, knowing that it was no trouble at all. Though something she said caused him to slightly raise an eyebrow. Put a band aid on someone . . . or surgery. He would have said something teasing on the matter, but it was put to rest when she went on to answer his own question. It caused a less teasing smile to form on his lips. "Ironic. History and English were my least favorite subjects. But Math and Science were my favorites." They were truly different. Though that was not necessarily a bad thing. He knew how well opposites could attract. Not that that was the basis of their relationship . . . well, not anymore. "So long as you enjoy it," he added sincerely. Knowing that one needed a strong passion for whatever career they chose. Otherwise, it would only be a paycheck and hold no meaning to the person. "What sort of doctor are you?" He let her finish talking before he answered, the smile remaining in place as she spoke of the haziness of that night.
He was the same way. He couldn't quite remember conversation -- then again, most girls talked way too much and he didn't always pay attention to them. But he did remember quite vividly the intimate moments. "I'm an emergency doctor," he answered casually. "Or in other words, I put band aids on people's cuts," he added teasingly, now taking the opportunity to tease her for that remark. Deciding to tease her all the more, he kept going in that same playful voice, though lowering his tone so that no one overheard. "So what parts of that night do you remember?" He inquired. If it was anything like him . . . then it was parts that would bring a blush to her cheeks -- already aware of her modesty -- and thus, fulfill his point of asking the question. Just to tease her some. And help lighten the mood . . . as it shifted further away from the topic of the child. Besides, it was not as if he hadn't flirted -- and done far more -- with her anyway.

"Ironic. History and English were my least favorite subjects. But Math and Science were my favorites." Guinevère laughed softly at that, "I did not mind science, I liked it, but I wasn't very good at it. Once you got away from the basics, I kept getting over whelmed." "So long as you enjoy it," Teaching. "I do, I love my job." She admitted.
"I'm an emergency doctor," Oh! wow! That was very impressive. Her eye brows went up and she looked up at him, clearly impressed. "Or in other words, I put band aids on people's cuts," Yet her impressedness went away to be replaced with a bright smile and open laugh at his words. Oh, now he was making fun of her. "I said that when I realized I didn't know, and I needed something to finish my sentence." She admitted, "I assumed you did a bit more. But, an ER doctor. Wow! TV I am sure glamorized it, but it always looks so cutting edge and fast paced."
She looked into his eyes for a moment and her smile stayed in place, bright and seemingly positive. "So what parts of that night do you remember?" And it all turned into a blush the moment he asked his question. "Oh!" Looking away she bit her lip and nearly walked into someone with how distracted his words made her. "Sorry, excuse me." She told them, still trying to not look at him. When they were walking again, she reached up to run her fingers though her hair, so the strands and her action would hide her blush for a few moments. "I umm . . . . well, mostly just . . . . " The end.
"Just parts of it . . . Yo--you?"

Understandable. She sounded more like an arts based person in terms of academics. He was a more science based. Each subject well suited for their jobs . . . especially hers. So hearing that she enjoyed it, caused the smile to remain on his lips, glad that she at least found it enjoyable, rather than mundane. Why he was glad for that? He wasn't right sure. But he was. Though she seemed to have a fairly positive attitude about most things. Which was perhaps why her smile was so contagious. "And band aids were the first thing you thought of?" He added in further teasing. "Truth be told, I can't stand those medical soap operas," he admitted. "You're certainly right when you say that they glamorize it. And they tend to be far more over dramatic." Then again, they were more chick flick type of shows . . . especially the drama aspects. He had been forced to sit through some of them, and would spout out all the medical inaccuracies that drove him insane. Thankfully, he had found other places to rest his attentions while being forced to endure such torture. And thankfully, now, he did not have to dwell on the subject of medical dramas. For her reaction to his question was absolutely perfect.
He smirked, for she not only blushed but also ran into someone due to her frazzled state. "You alright?" He asked, though perhaps in a more teasing tone. He knew what she remembered from that night, solely from her reaction to his question. He found it rather endearing, that she blushed so easily and grew so uncomfortable at answering such a question. Even more so with her laconic response. Returning the inquiry by asking what he remembered. Arthur was not as bashful about such things. "I remember . . . " He began, just to play with her a bit more and deciding to return the favor by properly answering the question himself. Stopping from their walk, he leaned forward, his lips slowly moving toward her ear, just hovering over her cheek in the process though not caressing it. Once his lips were there, he whispered directly in her ear. "Everything apart from our conversation on the couch." And that 'everything' was all the intimate parts of it. For they had casually talked on her couch, before one thing led to another. Letting his lips linger there, they curved into a smile before pulling his head back to look at her once more, giving a small wink as they then continued walking forward.

"And band aids were the first thing you thought of?" Granted it had not been the best thing to think of but she had been nervous. At least he seemed to be enjoying her error instead of holding it against her. It showed he enjoyed humor and she hoped she was right in thinking that. That he was more like her then she thought. "Truth be told, I can't stand those medical soap operas," Good! Nor could she, Guinevère did not enjoy cop dramas either. "I think people like to think that is how it really is. All clean cut and simple, even when the show is a mess. They don't see theme as people but . . . I dunno. I rather watch discovery channel or something more planned out. Where they rely on the weekly shocker but your love of the characters."
"You alright?" No. No she wasn't, for her mind was filled with how he had.. . . . Filled her.
NIGHT! Filled her night. He stopped their walking and leaned forward to whisper in her ear. "I remember . . . " A shiver went down her spine and she reached her hand up to automatically rest of on his chest. From there she could smell him. The scent that had clung to her bed for a week.
"Everything apart from our conversation on the couch." Oh! He walked on and it took her a few moments to walk with him. He remembered their night together. Oh. How. . .
Did he like it? Was it a good memory for him? Or had she not been . . . . "Then we remember the same." The night. "Perhaps it would be best to start over? Assume neither of us know anything about the other?"

That was quite well put. The medical dramas only desensitized people to the actual conditions of the workplace, in areas such as hospitals. At least they were on the same page with that. So whenever they were spending time together, he wouldn't have to worry about having to watch such shows. Not that he found the discovery channel all the more entertaining. But at least it was educational. "Then we remember the same." He looked at her and smiled, knowing that she remembered at least parts of that night . . . otherwise she would not have gotten so awkward and modest from the way her cheeks blushed. When she went on to say that it would be best for them to forget that night, his smirk stayed in place, and his words only encouraged further teasing. "Was it really that bad?" He asked jokingly. It certainly wasn't for him. But . . . it was her first time.
Something that he still wanted to ask about but knew that this was neither the time nor place. Though it did provide a good distraction from the larger situation that they needed to concern themselves with. "But if that's what you want, then I'm fine with it," he said smiling, so that she knew he was not bitter nor against her desire to just put the past behind them. Even though it was fully impossible since she was carrying a child as a result from it. Getting to the door, he paused near it. "I'll see you later tonight then," he said once again, as further confirmation. Leaning forward as if to kiss her, he instead went to the side, his lips gently kissing her cheek. Pulling back he smiled, and gave a little nod of farewell. They were after all friends at the very least.

"Was it really that bad?" Blushing, she shook her head, "No, it's not that. I meant for what we know of each other." Because they knew nothing of each other, and they should take time to learn of each other so they could become friends, and a parental unit rather then two strangers who shared a baby. "But if that's what you want, then I'm fine with it," "Is that what you want?"
It was then he changed the game, and the rules she had thought they were playing by. Leaning forward as if to kiss her, Guinevère felt her heart kick up and her eyes close. . . only to feel his kiss on her cheek. Opening them, she watched him nod and speak. "I'll see you later tonight then," Really? Oh! Right! Yes! She was cooking! "See you tonight." She whispered taking a few steps backwards, "Just send me a text and tell me about what time later, so I know when to have the food ready." She imagined doctors never got off on time.

"Is that what you want?" That was a question that they could talk about later. When he was not pressed for time and when they were alone and could speak more freely. "I will," he told her when she said to text him. "It'll be around nine tonight," he added, relieved that he was not on call and that he would actually be able to talk to her without hopefully getting paged every few moments. "Thank you, for . . . telling me about all this." For he knew it couldn't have been easy and he knew he had not dealt with it very well. "We'll speak soon," he added, before giving a final smile and then turning to walk back to the main desk. This time, there was no flirting with nurse Mithian, nor trying to scour his surroundings for attractive young woman.
With what Guinevère had just told him . . . he was going to have to make some major life changes. And for now, he could not exactly date whenever he so pleased. He had to straighten out his priorities. Good gosh. The thought alone made him feel like he sounded just like his father. Oh dear. His father. He would wait to tell him, until at least he and Guinevère sorted some things out . . . had some sort of plan. Taking his patient's chart from the receptionist, he looked toward the doors again to ensure that Guinevère had left and that she didn't need anything. And with that last glance, he then turned to continue on with his job . . . though her words were proving to be a massive distraction for the rest of the day.

"It'll be around nine tonight," So late! Guinevère smiled brightly and nodded, it was late for her, but she knew as a doctor his job was very important. She could eat a late lunch and snack early so she would be ready for a late supper. "Thank you, for . . . telling me about all this." "There was never the option to not tell you. Not for me." It ad just taken her a month to build up the courage to come.
"We'll speak soon," "Until then."
Guinevère left then, and went home to ready her home. She cleaned and showered, and tried on ten outfits before she found a long loose style purple skirt and top to match. That with a purple cardigan would give her a comfortable feel. She made steaks, and left her feet bare. She hoped that it would show him who she was at home, and help him feel more at ease here. Guinevère also made sure to set her apartment guide books out, so he would know this wasn't where she planned to raise their child. There were blue flowers--forget me nots--on the table in a vase.

The rest of the day felt odd. Surreal. As if he was just floating through his shift, while his mind wandered to so many other things . . . things pertaining to his baby. And Guinevère. And his father. And what this meant all around. He didn't know how this was going to work, though Guinevère seemed so optimistic about it. And that had been oddly comforting. It was what kept him calm -- well, calmer than he could be -- when she had told him. And what would probably get him through these next few months. His shift was and he was conflicted between finding it too soon, and finding it a relief that his day was finally at an end. He got dressed out of his coat and scrubs, wearing jeans and a shirt, and spend the next several moments in the mirror to make himself look like he hadn't just been working the past several hours. He even went as far as to spray a little cologne on since he had spent the entire day in the hospital and didn't want to give off that . . . hospital smell. Changing into his shoes, he was finally ready to go. He sent her a quick text, saying that he was on his way.
Though instead of going straight there, he stopped at the store, picking up a box of the highest quality truffles he could find. Chocolate was a good thing to get for a woman who would have cravings, right? He couldn't exactly bring over wine or champagne, and the flower stores were closed at this time. So truffles it was. The store clerk wrapped them to make them look presentable and with that, Arthur was off. He somehow managed to remember her address, even though it had been months since he'd last been here. And even then, his driver had dropped them off. But he found it with little difficulty. He parked the car and paused in the driver's seat for a moment, taking a deep breath and trying to calm himself . . . trying to mentally prepare for this conversation. When he felt he was as ready as could be, he made his way to her door, and ringed the doorbell. He was strangely nervous . . . though not in that giddy first date kind of way. More in the . . . we're going to be talking about our child' kind of way . . . making it a very unfamiliar sort of nervousness.

Guinevère put the steaks on when he texted and felt her nervousness rise up. He was coming! She felt the urge to run change everything about her house. She ended up putting one of the flowers in her hair and finding slip on flats to put on, but other then that she refused to let her self change more. Well, perhaps just another flower. Yes there. Or was it too much? Ok no flowers!
Then she made a salad to go with the steaks and baked potatoes. Sitting out a two person setting--oh no! Drinks! Running tot eh fridge she opened it to see milk, and apple juice. So, milk, juice or water! "Great, Gwen! Just great!" She told herself as the bell rang. Walking toward it she stopped by the table to pick up a flower for her hair and put t in. Then another. Back to two flowers. Yes.
She reached the door and smoothed over her clothing but then tossed it flower on the couch, as she once again questioned if it was too much, then opened the door. "hi!" She smiled and stepped back. "Come in."

Arthur used the time waiting for the door to answer, to force back any uneasy feelings. He needed to appear confident, and sure . . . and ready for what the future had in store for them. "Hi." She was carrying his child. "Come in." He smiled in return to her offer and stepped inside her house. 'Thank you," he responded politely. His eyes quickly searched around her place, not having remembered a lot of the details of it. Only where her room was. Since that had been where he'd spent most of his time the last time he was here. And he hadn't exactly been looking at the environment. Every single ounce of his attention had been placed on her and only her. Speaking of which, he turned to look at her, his eyes finding themselves of their own accord, lingering over her figure, and then back to her face.
Well one thing was for sure: the alcohol had not exaggerated her beauty. In fact, he appreciated it all the more while fully sober. It was enough to cause him to remain silent for a few moments, before he snapped out of it and remembered why he was here . . . and what he was holding. "These are for you," he said, extending the small package of truffles to her. "Nice place," he then complimented, trying not to stare at her too much. "Not sure if I said that before," he added jokingly. Since he couldn't remember his words exactly . . . only his actions. Talking a couple more steps in, a scent hit him so hard that it seem to bring attention to his empty stomach. "Something smells phenomenal." Because talking about her place, and food . . . was an easier way to ease into the evening and the more serious conversation that would be sure to follow.

He looked so much better then she remembered. More . . . dashing. Taller! Her shoes today had given her an extra inch, but now with flats and nothing she felt small next too him, yet for once it wasn't in a threatening way. She felt protected. "These are for you," "oh!" Her eyes went wide, with surprise and she took it from, opening it slowly, "Oh my gosh! Thank you!!" She smiled brightly, a wise and happy smile as she looked up at him. "You didn't have too, but thank you very much."
"Nice place," She looked around her small but comfortable home and hoped he would understand that this is where single people on a budge lived. Small flats with limited space. "Not sure if I said that before," Laughing, she answered, "That is the good part about starting over. You don't have to remember what you have said. Thank you for the complement. I love it here, but I am trying to find a new apartment." Gesturing tot he steps, "Bad for babies."
"Something smells phenomenal." "I hope your hungry! I am not used to cooking for two--well three." She made a teasing face, at her joke before turning to walk toward the kitchen. The whole four steps.
