Alistair's casual response made Vaughn just stand there. He continued to smirk, and gave the druid an expectant look. "Lead the way," he told him. Vaughn could obviously not go there himself. He had been avoiding the main hall, though he thought it would be fun to torment Uther a little by showing his face. Vaughn was however, not stupid. And knew he would be massively outnumbered. No man was skilled enough to fight an entire army all on his own. And he was not going to die in this frivolous way. Alistair had blended into the crowd, and even changed his appearance with longer hair and formal attire. Uther was clearly too distracted to take notice of him. But Vaughn would not take the risk.
Plus, Garrett did not know Vaughn, so Alistair would have to do the introduction. "The longer we wait, the more time Asher has to open his mouth." And spill everything that Alistair was trying to keep contained. Alistair would have to keep up his end of the bargain first, before Vaughn offered his own services to aid the druid gone noble. "But we can wait. Unlike you, I've got all night." Because Vaughn had no where to be, nor anyone who would question his missing presence. Alistair on the other hand, had a time constraint and a little princess who would not survive more than an hour without him.

Alistair did not have all night. He had to get back before he was noticed gone for too long. While it was a party, he was still at work. With her here, he was always at work. Especially now with a child. There was too much at risk; and he needed this handled fast and silent. "Follow me." He told Vaughn before turning and walking toward were he'd last seen the general. Alistair didn't want to turn his back on Vaughn but he knew how it might look. He had never been afraid to do so before and doing so now would raise an alarm.
He needed Vaughn's guard at it's normal level; if not dropped. He needed things to appear normal. When this was over: he needed Vaughn dead. In order to be able to live in peace and to keep his child safe; Vaughn would have to die. It took a bit to find Sir Garrett but once he was in Alistair's line of sight he paused to look back at Vaughn. "We should appear to be on good terms." Meaning not looking like they'd just kicked each others ass.

Ah, finally! When Alistair started walking, Vaughn took an extra few moments; the pain in his ribcage intensifying with all this movement. He put his hand over it for a moment, before lowering it and walking forward. While he felt a smirk on his face, the pain was immense. He forced himself to walk with straightened posture, not even giving the slightest indication that there was a limp there. It hurt even more to do that. Of all days for Vaughn to not be wearing his armor. At least the good part of it was that his nose was not broken. It was just bloody sore. But his consolation in bearing with both these injuries, was that he was about to get something well worth it. Something that would put him in a position to freely drive Alistair and his squeeze mad.
When Alistair said that they should look as if they were on good terms, Vaughn chuckled. "Easy for me to do," he said as he moved to now stand next to Alistair, rather than trail behind. "You on the other hand, may have more difficulty doing this." For so many reasons. "You really need to smile more. You tend to look rather unwelcoming and cold to other people." Vaughn knew he was not one to talk. For even if Vaughn smiled, it was always in that sinister or amused way. It was not meant to make others feel comfortable in his presence. Alistair on the other hand just had his glare and silent tongue. Something that Vaughn was now mocking for him, when in the past it had been a helpful asset to getting done whatever job or kidnapping they were doing.

Alistair glared at Vaughn for for words, either not caring or not knowing he was feeding into the taunt that Vaughn had just through at him. He stood there for a moment and thought about killing him now but knew he needed him to get past Asher's fools and to distract Asher's wife who would have to killed as well if she saw him there. Better blame Asher's death on Vaughn and let Vaughn's body turn up somewhere after he and Isadora had left this kingdom.
Silently; Alistair reached up to put his hand forcefully on the back of Vaughn's neck to make it look like a half hug or two men close before giving it a sharp squeeze and turning to push Vaughn into walking toward Garrett. Alistair wasn't going to smile right now for it would be too odd for him and he didn't need Garrett wondering what all he'd drunk. "Sir Garrett."
Alistair called to him as a way of both getting the man's attention as well as in greeting. When the knight turned to look over at them; Alistair gave Vaughn a little push forward. "I wanted to introduce you to my little brother." This would allow a good enough reason for Alistair's request and also give him a chance to show someone from his past who knew it. Making his 'history' more solid. "He was a father's ward, and we were raised as brothers."

Sir Garrett was still in the Great Hall, along with a number of other nobles who were enjoying the festivities late into the night. Now that the Princess was safely tucked away in bed with two of his most trusted knights at her door, he could stand to relax a bit. He was mingling with a group of other nobles, laughing along with the others and flirting a bit with a very friendly lady, a half-full goblet of wine in one hand, when he noticed one of his decidedly less sociable knights enter the hall with someone Garrett couldn't recall seeing either. Sir Alistair.
Garrett had taken notice of the knight lately, mostly because her royal highness seemed to have as well. Her request to have Sir Alistair be her escort to the ceremony today and the banquet that followed was only the latest in a series of events involving the pair of them over the last few weeks. He didn't really think Alistair was the type of man to sweep a princess off her feet, he seemed to be cold and disinterested in most people, but he couldn't deny his own observations, nor his instincts. But that didn't mean he had any intention of trying to put a stop to it; he had no problem with Sir Alistair, he worked hard and despite his lack of social skills, followed orders just fine. And Isadora did seem happier lately, so until Alistair did something to make her unhappy, Garrett wouldn't interfere.
He caught the other man's eyes, and when Alistair seemed to be heading straight for him, Garrett broke away from the crowd of nobles to meet him a few steps away. He doubted Alistair was here to make small talk, and while he didn't detect anything urgent from the knight, he'd rather not discuss anything to do with his knights in front of nobles from other kingdoms. "Sir Alistair." He greeted with a nod in return, glancing towards the man he was introducing and giving another nod to him as well. "Not much family resemblance." He pointed out, glancing over the two men. Siblings didn't always look alike...but then Alistair went on to explain how they were raised as brothers. "Well met," he greeted the nameless brother, extending his hand for him to shake in meeting. [/size]
