Alistair noticed that Vaughn did not take the wine. In face he did not move, blink or breathe. He wondered if he succeed in shocking the man, and how Vaughn felt about him asking something of this greatness from him. "I'm not a fool, Vaughn. This lie I live can't hold up forever. I've made too many foes, and was too public in my actions. One day someone will know my face. I can not remove every threat."
He would not not be able to see all them coming. "Should something happen; and I fall my wife and child would be left to take the aftermath of such actions. Should they be something to hurt them; I need you to swear to me Vaughn; that you will get them out. Take them to place I can tell you of and let the people of Mabon handle it from there. I need you to do what I would be unable to do."

Every possible curse word that entered his mind, did. All directed towards the bastard in front of him. "I'm not a fool, Vaughn." Clearly he was if he was saying all this to him. "This lie I live can't hold up forever." True; because Vaughn was going to kill him. "I've made too many foes, and was too public in my actions." Exactly. Like Vaughn. He did not seem able to focus on anything else the druid said. Because he kept talking about his trust in him. Vaughn knew how protective the man was over his whore now wife, and his child. And what. Now he was asking him to take care of them? To bring them to safety should something happen to him? Vaughn was going to kill Alistair. That was what was going to happen. And then he would take the druid's head to his wife and throw it on her lap.
How the hell had Vaughn exuded kindness? What had he done to make Alistair trust him as such? Well, he knew what he did. But still. Shoving him was one thing, asking him to protect his family was another. Yet, family was a strong spot for him. Perhaps this was what Vaughn would do to lose his favor. Because he needed to get out of here. "Go to hell." His voice was blunt, cold, angry. Still void of any semblance of amusement. A rarity for him. "And take your family with you." Because he couldn't give two damns about what happened to them. He was not their protector. What was Mabon anyway?! He had traveled the ends of the earth, but had never heard of such a place. He wouldn't be surprised if it didn't even exist. He took a step towards Alistair. Despite the couple inch height difference, Vaughn was not the least bit intimidated. His size meant nothing, because he had become a soft pansy of a man. "I will never be godfather to your child." He took this not as an honor. But as a high insult.

Alistair didn't blink at Vaughn's words; for he knew this wouldn't be something the man would take lightly. Vaughn would bitch an moan and drag his feet. He was all talk; and pushing everyone away from himself. He liked the being alone; and not having anyone around.
But Alistair knew that Vaughn also had proven he was a good person under his cold exterior. That he wouldn't let his friend die for no reason and Alistair was willing to bet that he'd claim no a million times every time the sun moved across the sky. In the end however; Alistair knew that Vaughn would step up and do this for him when the time came. Alistair said nothing; and just wanted his friend take in all the information.

Shocking. The man didn't speak. As if that was new to Vaughn. The druid hardly spoke, though in this case he found it to be a blessing. To not have to hear Alistair's words of how Vaughn was a brother to him; of how he wanted him to be godfather to his damn child! Vaughn was done speaking. For once, he did not try to provoke or press. He wanted to keep this man away from him. As far away as possible. He served as nothing but a reminder of what Vaughn had done. A man that he did not want to be. One with a... conscience. Damn druid! "Well, if you are done speaking then, I should like to get out of his hell hole you have dragged me to." Meaning, Gwent. The kingdom that Alistair now called his home.
The place that Vaughn had demanded access to and now wanted nothing to do with it. It should have been a relief to the druid. But they seemed to have switched roles. "So get out of my way. And let me pass." Vaughn knew he could not kill Alistair... but that did not mean he wouldn't seriously impair him if he did not step aside. Vaughn would do whatever he could to get away from him and his pathetic family. A family that he would never be a part of. No matter what Alistair told him or tried to bribe him with.
