Hello everyone!
Here are this month's competition entries. Please send me your votes by the 29th!
Entry One“What are you doing here?” The words, accompanied by a sword pressed against his back, was the way that Gwaine was torn from his slumber. It wasn’t a rare scene in the slightest, but it didn’t make it any less inconvenient for Gwaine. At the moment, he was going with the theory that whoever was poking a sword into his back might just leave him to his rest. The man who had spoken though just pressed the sword in harder, and Gwaine winced and sat up. The woman who was asleep next to him stirred a little, but Gwaine paid her no attention for the time being. “I said, what are you doing here?” The man repeated, the sword still drawn. Gwaine put two fingers to his back, and brought back blood from where the sword had been up against him,
“That hurt you know.” Provoking this man was clearly the wrong thing to do, yet Gwaine was too far gone to care anyway, so he just continued, but got out of bed with his hands up, “I was sleeping, can’t you see that?” He gestured to the now unmade bed, and quickly took his chance to grab his shirt from the side of the room and pulled it on over his head. He slipped into his shoes just as the man was regaining his stance. He pointed to the bed with his sword,
“I demand to know what you were doing in my wife’s bed.” Gwaine smirked and winked at the woman who was now sitting up, running a hand though her blonde curls,
“I was sleeping.” Gwaine professed again; the husbands face was now a deeper red than beetroot. Gwaine was enjoying this far too much,
“Do you think me a fool? ‘Just sleeping’, with my wife in the bed also?” Again, Gwaine just shrugged,
“Well it was her bed, I couldn’t banish her from it. It would have been most un-gentlemanly.” The woman in the bed was stifling a laugh, and her husband was just outraged,
“I will run you through where you stand.” Grabbing his bag, Gwaine took it as his chance to leave. The husband was blocking the door, so he ran to the other side of the bed, stole a kiss from the woman’s lips, and hauled himself out of the window without a second thought. They were on the ground floor luckily, so he was saved the discomfort of a fall. Gwaine ran a few paces forwards from the manor to gain his balance, before he looked back to where he had just come from. Gwaine gave an exaggerated bow to the man who was now trying to manoeuvre himself out of the window, and blew a kiss to the woman who was stifling a laugh behind him. Gwaine quickly turned on his heels and ran in the opposite direction.
His life was lived at a fast pace, and Gwaine wouldn’t change it for the world.
Entry TwoThe lock turned softly. He didn’t hear her enter. She softly walked up to desk and smiled.
He didn’t move. His golden head bent in serious concentration on the parchment in front to him.
She looked at him, really looked at him.
His thin white shirt was gaping open to reveal his hard chest. His shoulders were broad and well formed from years of wielding a sword. His arms were finely muscled. His hands were graceful as they held the document he was studying.
She felt herself blush but she couldn’t help but stare at him.
His silky soft hair was golden like the crown he would wear some day. She could see his long lashes move as he read. His jaw was finely chiselled and strong. His lips were full and pouting at what he was reading.
She looked down at her hands wondering if she should say something. Her thoughts were still lingering on him.
“Guinevère!”
She jumped. “My Lord!” She was blushing fully now.
"What are you doing here? His full lips formed a smile.
“I … I have no idea.” She was suddenly embarrassed. She had intruded on this privacy. “I seemed to have forgotten why I’m here.”
“Did you?” He teased.
“Yes. Sire. I’ll just go.” She turned to leave.
“Guinevère, don’t rush off.” He was still teasing.
She smiled and practically ran to the door.
Just at that moment Merlin came into the room. “Gwen I thought you were going to get the sheets.”
“That’s it the sheets.” Gwen smiled and grabbed the basket with the soiled bedding and left.
Merlin looked at his master. “Did I interrupt something?”
Arthur sighed. “I hope so.”
Entry Three"What are you doing here?" said very quitely, with a painting tone of his voice. He couldn't believe in his eyes. He has to see her about one whole year, and was there again, to standing and look to his way with a tenderness in her eyes. She didn't had change a lot. She was always sweet and very beautiful, making his heart in faster pace. He asked again, "What are you doing here?". She didn't answered, but she make some steps forward to him. He knew that she couldn't make him bad, but unconsciously touched his sword. She stopped to somewhat close distance to him. Enough to him to feel the love for her into his heart. He couldn't understand how one woman could make him to miss his mind and his sleep.
"Why you left me?" her voice sounded with a tone of love and sorrow. She was looking up to him, with sadness. Her eyes heart his heart. She never wanted to see her sad. He left her for her good, and now she was sad. For a moment, he wanted to take her into his hug, but shook his sword in his hand, and did a step far of her. Now he took a serious tone, and said with broken heart, "Your father told me not to bother you anymore, and said for your good is better to left you." Now a tear rolled from his eye, and turned his head to avoid to see him in this situation. But, a light touch on his arm made him to turn his head again to her. "I Love You!" said softly, with a tone of love in her voice.
He has decided to be strong opposite to her, but with these words make him feel his heart beats like mad from love. He said to her with sadness, "Why?". "There is not why in love. You love someone, because you do." said sweetly, but with a more happy tone in her voice. "Love me again. I can't leave without you." It was easy to words, but difficult to do it. If is has no mind, was going to express his feelings immediately. But now no. He has mind and he is not going to say yes. Not now. In some minutes maybe yes, but.... How could be together happy? How... How... How... This question was rolling in his mind, the last few minutes. Until she get into his hug. Can last it forever? Now he has decide. Anything could stop his love now for this woman. Any King, and any army... The words now wasn't necessary. A hug, and after a softly kiss, was enough to express his love for her.....
Entry Four“What are you doing here?” Roslyn demanded peering over her balcony, a cloak wrapped tightly around her because it was freezing and some lunatic was standing underneath her window, disturbing her sleep.
“I’m standing under your window.” Iwan replied simply. He’d thought that much was obvious.
Roslyn rolled her eyes. His flippancy was not making her mood any better. “I know that, idiot. But why are you standing under my window?”
He just stared at her, arms stiff by his side. This had been a completely stupid idea but it was too late to do that now, unfortunately running away would only make things worse. This is why he didn’t do this sort of thing. He wasn’t any good at it and everything always went wrong.
“Well?”
“Gwaine said I should. I’m, erm, I’m serenading you.” His tone was a pathetic one, as was his plight but he was going to continue anyway because well, because he didn’t know what he was supposed to do and if he was good at this, he’d carry on and everything would work out.
Roslyn tilted her head. He was serenading her? Well so far he was doing an awful job of it. She was tired and he was not making his company a desired one. “And how do you plan on doing that?” She asked, eyebrows raised and fully prepared to return inside and leave him standing there.
“I didn’t think this far ahead.” He admitted, feeling even more of a fool.
His words made her stop. He didn’t think this far ahead? Iwan planned everything, yet he hadn’t planned this? So she wasn’t that important then, she didn’t even deserve a plan from a man whose life was just one long to-do list. And this was supposed to be him “serenading” her? “You plan everything.” She said, trying not to sound petulant but frustratingly her tone of voice was betraying her. “Why didn’t you plan this?”
Iwan was rather taken aback. And he didn’t know how to react. This wasn’t a new feeling, it was one he was too bloody used to, and yet he still didn’t know what to do or say and this really wasn’t working and he was going to absolutely kill Gwaine, only he wasn’t because yes this was all going horribly wrong and yes she was glaring at him and was going to leave him standing in the cold any second now but it was alright because she was worth it. This was worth it. Oh Jesu, he’d gone all romantic. “I wanted to be spontaneous,” he admitted, more than a little self-conscious. “It’s romantic.”
Roslyn narrowed her eyes, the hint of a smile forming on her lips. He wanted to be romantic? Oh now she couldn’t be angry with him. How horribly annoying. What’s worse, she was actually flattered. She leant forward, forearms against the balcony, a smile on her lips. “Alright then, you have five minutes to convince me to stay outside.”
