The ceremony was progressing wonderfully. After he had read the oath, the celebrations had became with the feast, drinks, and entertainment both within the castle and outside of it so that the non-noble citizens of Camelot could be part of this occasion. Arthur could not help but hold this nagging fear that something was going to happen. It would come as no surprise for it seemed that on most festivities Camelot held, something had to happen; someone had to take advantage and attack them. With the twenty year festival of peace and prosperity, it had been Lady Helen -- or the impostor rather. With his crowning ceremony as prince, it had been the immortal knight. With a large knighting ceremony, it had been Morgause. It just seemed that every time there was some grand occurring in the city, an enemy took it as an opportunity to strike. Yet, so far, everything seemed to be going fairly well. Guinevère had been right in suggesting that they make this out to be something more momentous rather than a rushed coronation and birthday.
While the birthday part was still unsettling to the prince king, it was not difficult to politely thank the person and then move the conversation along. But right now, he was trying to make his way out of the crowd and inconspicuously as he could. Not because he needed an escape, but because he had promised a dear friend that they would meet in private for a few stolen moments of the night. He had made sure to designate a time to see her, and that time -- as they had previously decided -- was now. Which was why he was trying to get out of the grand hall undetected, so that he would not be stalled. After all, he did not want to keep Sasha waiting. He cared for her greatly, but more so as a beloved friend, and he still held that guilt for not having been honest with her sooner, yet he would not dwell on that right now. He was just thankful she was still in his life as a friend, even if it was selfish on his part.
When he finally made it out of the grand hall, and he headed towards where they said they would meet: the gardens. Near the entrance to the garden there were small stone benches where they could sit in comfort and the light from the castle would make it extremely easy to see. Most importantly, they would be able to speak for a few moments in private, for it had been quite some time since they were able to do so, especially since Morgana's reign. But right now was not the time to think of it. He was just glad she was safe, for many had lost their lives during those several days. Arthur tried to push such dark thoughts away from the surface for today, had been set in place to celebrate, not mourn. It was meant to lift up the people's spirits and lead Camelot to a better and brighter future.
Setting: In the castle, near the garden Time of Day: Night time Timeline: During the coronation/birthday celebration Tag: Lady Sasha Tiberius Note: Wasn't sure if you wanted to have Sasha already there or not so I just left it open for you to pick!

It was very dark where she was in the garden. But the only thing to blame was the fact that it was night time. Sasha had been waiting for what felt like an eternity for Prince. . . no, KING Arthur to arrive in the garden. She was so proud of him, to be honest. Sasha knew he'd make a great King, and had known that since she the day they had spent together by a rather lovely lake. And now nearly three years later, he was the King of Camelot. . . and a damn good one, that's for sure.
Sasha finally saw him walk into the garden, and feeling a bit excited when she saw how irresistible he looked -- so attractive, as always -- she decided to sneak up behind him. Meanwhile, she was holding his gift in her hand wrapped in a linen cloth that she had gotten from the lower town. The gift she had picked wasn't much at all. . . but she hoped he'd like it. Sasha hadn't know what to get him. She stalked closer to him, well hidden in the lightly dancing shadows that were cast in the darkness. It had been so long since she had felt so juvenile!
Sasha made sure he did not hear her slow, soundless footsteps as she inched toward him. She was not going to scare him, but more so. . . startle him while covering his eyes in a playful way. She was right behind him, and so before he had a chance to sense her presence behind him she placed the gift that was wrapped in linen cloth on her left shoulder, her head tilted to the left side to hold it. She reached both of her hands over his shoulder and gently covered his eyes just to "impair" his sight for a moment. "Guess who?" She grinned playfully. Surprisingly she was not exactly thinking about how much she loved him tonight, nor was she reminded of any pain she had felt. It was just an enjoyable time that she was thankfully able to spend with him again, as a friend.

Arthur had been so distracted in his thoughts that he didn't hear someone slowly approaching him, even in the stillness of the silent air. His eyes were too busy searching in front of him to see if she was here yet. He had not realized she was there behind him, until he felt two hands cover his eyes. While it was incredibly unexpected, he did not jump in surprise of jolt in the slightest. He was not alarmed by her presence, quite the opposite actually. A smile crept on his lips for he knew who it was; he could tell from her voice of course, but as well from everything about her position. At the same time, it was fairly unfamiliar. While the two of them obviously got along extremely well, he could not remember the last time they had been so . . . playful? Was that the right word? His memory went back to the time they had spent in the woods, and while it had been a different sort of intimacy then, it was still a time where the both of them could smile and laugh so carefree.
Since then, it seemed that their encounters were filled with heartache, sadness, fear . . . so many different emotions, but never extreme joviality. But now, was different. It was such an incredible relief to see her this way. To see that there were no hard feelings between them; to see that he still had her in his life as a friend. It meant so much to him. Even as a king, he was not about to lose the people close to him, Sasha included. He put one hand over hers, as if trying to determine the answer when of course his mind knew it instantly. "Hmmm, I may need a hint," he told her jokingly, playing along with her actions. It was strange -- but in a very pleasant way -- that despite the maturity associated with his newest title, he was still able to engage in such encounters, and was rather enjoying the light hearted, undramatic, air about this conversation. It was already off to a wonderful start.
He remained in place for a few moments before his supposed curiosity got the better of him and just wanted to see her. He took her hand in his own and turned around to face her, obviously knowing who it was that had pleasantly startled him. His smile grew a bit as he looked at her, seeing that she herself seemed so very happy. With her hand in his, he lowered himself in a bit of a bow and kissed the top of her hand. "Lady Sasha Tiberius," he greeted formally. While he obviously respected her, the formality of the greeting in his words were a bit exaggerated for they had passed those formalities. They had known each other their entire lives, and had spent the past few years in each other's company. It was enough for him to call her a dear friend, so titles and rankings . . . well, they were entirely unneeded. "What a pleasant surprise," he added, knowing they had plans here, but of course, he was continuing with the little way she had sneaked up on him, liking that she could remain so unpredictable even though he liked to think he knew her well.

Sasha raised her right eye brow slightly and grinned when he played along with it. "Hmmmm. . . let's see. . . blonde hair, eyes that stand out, almost as tall as you. . ." She chuckled. He turned around to face her slowly, holding her hand. Formally, he greeted her and kissed the top of her hand. She had to admit. . . she had missed the times when he would do that! "King Arthur Pendragon," Sasha returned the formality playfully. She was so happy that he was the King of Camelot! Even if many wouldn't admit or even think so, but Uther had been a good King. She only agreed with his views on magic because she herself had only seen sorcery used for evil. So she knew Arthur would be a great king. She only knew this because he had been a great man, prince, and knight before wearing the crown. So why not a King? In fact, it probably suited him better than those two ranks.
"I have something for you!" Sasha exclaimed excitedly. She still hoped he'd like it, despite it being a bit. . . overdone. Waiting for him to join her, she slightly brushed past him and sat down on a very nearby metal bench. She held the gift, which was very loose and dangly. When he sat beside her, held it out to him. "Happy birthday, and congratulations on becoming the King of Camelot!" She smiled brightly. Normally she would have cowered in anxiety but not now. She was enjoying herself.
She was also interested to see his reaction to her gift. . . which were two necklaces, both for him and the other woman he loved.

Hearing her laugh and so high spirited just added to the amazing casualness of this moment. She deserved to be happy, after all that she had been through. While he could not be the man to grant her that happiness, he was still honored to be in her life some way or another. Arthur continued to play along, wanting to keep this sort of mood in the air. He looked around in a couple of glances. "I don't know where to find such a man," he said, obviously kidding. He continued to smile when she addressed him with his titles. She was one of the few people he preferred the lack of formality with, and this was something easily established early in their friendship . . . or rekindled friendship rather, for he doubted it was this way when they were children. But he of course knew the tone in which she said it now. He had to admit that the title of king in front of his name was something he had not grown used to, and probably would not for some time. He knew it would one day come, but the fact that it had come so suddenly was . . . just surprising. Of course, this was not something he so readily expressed. One quality that a leader must possess is confidence, and even if he felt nervous with this new role, he could not let it show.
"I have something for you!" He looked at her curiously, truly not having expected to be given anything, despite the coinciding occasions of today. When she moved to sit down on the nearby bench, he sat next to her. He briefly looked at the necklaces, but of course it was her words and general presence that meant more to him than any material object. Now, that did not mean he was appreciative, for he was beyond words. He held out his hand and slowly took them from her, pausing as his eyes met her gaze. "Thank you," he said with a strong sincerity in his voice; a tone of immense appreciation. "You did not have to do this," he added, as he looked down at the gift, now getting a better look at it. They were two necklaces, one with a piece that clearly completed the other charm hanging off of it. Was it meant for who he thought it was? If so, then this was something that this was something that could not have been so easy for her. Or perhaps it was. He already knew how strong of a heart she had, and she seemed so sincere, this moment lacking any sort of awkwardness over . . . their intimate past.
"Sasha . . . " But his sentence was uncompleted, mostly because he did not know what to say. He knew for certain that he did not deserve such a gift, especially after how guilty he had felt when he had failed to tell her of the other woman in his life sooner. And now, she had given a gift to not only him, but her as well. That could not have been easy. Thinking back to a couple years ago, Arthur compared this moment to one where he would have given both Guinevère and Lancelot a gift that symbolized their love for one another. While he knew that was not the case now, he thought back to when it could have been. And he knew, he would not have been strong enough to give that sort of gift to them. But, the fact that Sasha had, just proved the incredible woman that she was. A generous, genuine woman who he could not fully express how he felt from this this sentimental act. He gave a faint smile. Faint because he was so very touched by this gift. Words eluded him, for thank you just seemed too small. "I don't know what to say," he told her honestly, as he looked down at the gifts. How did one express such a magnitude of gratitude? Right now, it seemed just so impossible. "I am not sure I can say in words, how much this means to me." While he never doubted her, this just showed a support from her . . . one that he would never have expected or asked for, as it was concerning another woman.

"I didn't really know what to get you at first. . . I thought a dagger might be appropriate," she began enthusiastically, but then continued, "But I'm sure someone has already given you a dagger throughout the day, so I thought I'd try for something more complex." Giving a faint smile, she let a few moments pass. He mentioned that there were no words to describe how much this meant to him. "It was no trouble. I requested they create something like this, so you and your girl could have a gift." She had no clue who this woman was, but she felt that if the other woman knew of her intimate background with the King she would not be welcome with her. There were times she had suspected that the Lady Vivian was 'the other woman', and other times Lady Morgana. Thinking of Morgana now frightened her to the core of her soul, but at the time she had seemed like a kind woman. Whether Arthur had loved her in that way or not, Sasha knew they shared a deep bond. . . therefore she truly felt sympathy for the poor man.
On the other hand, it could be a woman from the castle here in Camelot. Perhaps a young lady of nobility. Unfortunately, she certainly did not know the lady was someone in the clothes of a servant. "I just wanted to show you that there aren't any problems between us," she began happily, wondering anxiously how he'd react to her saying this. "I was disappointed that I'd never be, well, be with you. But in the end, I truly mean it when I say that I'm just hapy that you're happy."

Arthur wanted to tell her once again that she did not have to get him anything, but such requests were unnecessary right now, for it was too late. And to be honest, he was rather flattered that she had gone through this effort. But again, it was not the physical object that filled him with appreciation . . . it was the thought behind it, what it symbolized: the sentiment. When she spoke of the potential of a dagger, a smile played on his lips. She had been right about that, for his mind went to Kazira and her beautiful gift. One that also held such strong sentiment to him. It had been a hand crafted dagger, wrapped in the cloth that once belonged to her mother. Both Kazira and now Sasha had given him such precious gifts . . . ones that he would always cherish. Even more so that they were not only gifts meant for him, but to the woman who possessed his heart: to Guinevère. It made them all the more special, and all the more appreciated. "Either way, this gift is beautiful," he told her, meaning it with the utmost sincerity. "I can assure you that no one has gifted me with such an item before," he said, meaning it as the highest compliment.
"It was no trouble. I requested they create something like this, so you and your girl could have a gift." This only caused the smile to remain. His relationship with Sasha had . . . been very delicate as one point. He had feared losing her as a friend due to his cowardice, but she proved to be a constant in his life -- unlike some others he had once had strong bonds with. He realized that she did not know who the woman was . . . and he felt compelled to tell her. News of her identity would slowly be revealed throughout the kingdom -- for those who didn't already know. He wanted to be the one to tell Sasha who it was. He didn't want her to find out from some stranger. He had avoided telling her so many things in the past . . . he did not want to keep being that poor of a friend. "She will appreciate it, of that I am certain," he told her. He had not spoken to Guinevère about Sasha and the . . . feelings she had for him. He often did not speak to Guinevère about any of the woman he had an intimate past with. Though she did know that he and Sasha were good friends. As he tried to figure out a way to reveal the identity of the woman he loved, Sasha continued to speak.
"I just wanted to show you that there aren't any problems between us. I was disappointed that I'd never be, well, be with you. But in the end, I truly mean it when I say that I'm just happy that you're happy." He knew he did not deserve this, but also knew better than to say such a thing. He had told her many times -- when he had nearly married Elena -- that she had been entitled to be angry with him. But she had never acted on this anger. The closest had been when she'd decided to leave Camelot. Something that had caused him great pain to see . . . but he had understood the distance she had needed then. At least she was back now; and that was what mattered. He wanted to express how much her kindness and friendship meant to him -- though the magnitude of it could not be expressed in mere words. But he had a question, far more pressing . . . one that he felt he needed to know. She always wished him to be happy, and he desperately shared the same desire for her. "Are you happy Sasha?" He asked, as his eyes found hers.

“I am happy,” Sasha smiled at him. "I truly am." She truly was... for once in a long time. It was the first time since the day she'd experienced her first kiss that Arthur and Sasha had actually been alone and she had been happy. But to hear him say he liked the gift meant even more to her. However, she knew what he meant. He meant in general. She was content. But she hadn't found her true happiness yet. But this moment was definitely an exception of that, for she was extremely happy right now. And happy that Camelot, her birth place, was finally at peace from Lady Morgana's short reign as Queen.
“Arthur,” she put on an amused smile. “This is your business. You really don't have to tell me if you don't feel you want to. But...” She was going to ask a question that she had wanted to ask for a long time. Since he'd told her he loved another woman. She still somewhat thought it might be the Lady Vivian, even if she was long forgotten by many others. Sasha knew it was probably someone else, someone from Camelot. “Who might this lucky woman be?” Should she have said lucky? Whoever she was, to say she was lucky was an huge understatement.

Arthur was relieved to hear that, for he could detect the sincerity in his voice. He had feared losing her, though knew it was selfish to ask her to remain a part of his life. She had been through so much; they both had. So now, to be able to sit her together, and smile without it having to be strained . . . was indeed a wonderful feeling. "I am glad," he said, though the words were spoken with such strong emotion of genuineness and sincerity, that the words themselves sounded far less simple. It was not a casually outspoken statement; for it went deeper than that . . . as they were spoken from his heart. He hoped she continued to remain happy. He wished such a happiness for all those he cared about but being aware of what could grant her happiness -- as he had something to do with it -- and knowing that he could not grant her that, had made him extremely concerned.
But she was happy; and that was what mattered. Arthur looked at her when she continued to speak, and then asked a certain question. "Who might this lucky woman be?" It was an entirely valid question. Incredibly legitimate. Especially for her, since she had known about it longer than most others. Merlin had been the first to find out . . . and though it had been over a year since Sasha did, she was still one of the few who actually knew about it. Now, the time had come to reveal the name. This time, Arthur was not afraid to say it. He had been fearful in the past, concerned about the position it would be Guinevère in -- as it had been proven that if they were discovered, she'd be in great danger. But it would soon be common knowledge among the people. And he felt Sasha deserved to hear it from him personally, rather than from the whispers of the townspeople. Looking at her intently, a small but strong smile on his lips, he answered her question.
"It is Guinevère," he revealed. He continued to look at Sasha, awaiting her reaction for most knew the name, or at least its association to Morgana's handmaiden. If of course she needed further description, Arthur would gladly give it. It still felt so odd to disclose the name so willingly, after being forced to keep it a secret for years. But he loved saying it. He was not ashamed of her; in fact, he felt himself undeserving of her at times. But it was never enough to discourage him from pursuing her . . . from giving her hope in them. And this was what it had come to. Every pain that they had suffered had been worth it, if it meant now that they could be freely and openly together. he doubted the hardships and obstacles they faced would only remain in the past; he knew more to come would follow. But for now, he would enjoy being able to say her name proudly, as the woman he loved and future queen of Camelot.

She would finally hear who the girl was! She was so excited to hear! And when he finally spoke the answer... she really didn't know what to think. She'd probably have this reaction anyway, but... she'd never have expected him to be in love with a servant. She knew of Guinevère as Morgana's handmaiden, and had even met her through Nicolae once. Her brother had been on the training grounds that day, observing Arthur and the others practice fighting techniques.
Guinevère. Well that was interesting. She didn't have anything against him loving a servant at all, it was just... she just missed him, and hearing the woman's name made her really feel like that. But when would she get over that and think of Arthur's happiness first? Sasha was extremely happy that someone was making him happy, that perhaps he'd found the right woman for him. His future Queen. She didn't really know what to say in reply, though. . .
"I am happy for you," she told him with a genuine smile.

Arthur had noticed that she showed no reaction . . . in terms of finding out that it was a servant. Arthur was not ashamed, but he often braced himself for any insults -- whether intention or not -- that others showed when hearing about who the future queen would be. Of course many avoided it, knowing it was a sensitive subject to broach with negativity. But never the less, Arthur prepared himself for it. But Sasha showed no surprise nor curiosity in her rank nor the person herself. Did that mean that she had met her before? Her words though, stating she was happy for him . . . were ones that Arthur believed. For they were spoken with unmistakable sincerity. And in return, he gave her a small but sincere smile. "Thank you," he said in an equally genuine voice. It still felt so strange -- or unfamiliar rather -- to reveal to others that it was Guinevère he loved. But the time had come; they had waited so long for this moment where they could openly be together. They had taken so many steps forward and he was not about to back track.
"Have you met her?" Arthur asked curiously. She would eventually if she had not, Arthur had no doubts about that. Though the context in which she met Guinevère would indeed be different. She would no longer be introduced as a servant to aid nobles; but rather, the future wife of the king and thus, soon to be queen of Camelot. He also knew that this was a difficult transition for Guinevère, for she would begin to feel the pressures of others watching her and judging her. But he would do all that he could to help her through it. For before being a queen, she was first and foremost the woman that he loved: his future wife. She had often told him that she could see herself in the role of his wife, but not queen. It would come soon enough however, and if she could find comfort in the company of other nobles -- ones that Arthur felt would not judge her nor look disapprovingly of her -- then he wanted her to surround herself with such people, to avoid negativity and insecurity.

Of course, she was surprised by what Arthur had told her. The last thing she would have expected was that he had fallen in love with a servant... though she had learned to hold no prejudice against the title despite servants having no nobility. Perhaps her brother Nic had taught her that. Arthur asked if he had met her, she tried to remember whether she had met her face to face or not when Nicolae had been watching the training grounds... "I don't think so," she replied to him calmly. She knew her brother probably had, but Sasha hadn't.
Sasha felt a sudden breeze pick up and it brought a good feeling with it. She couldn't put together the reason why, though. "I think my brother has met her once on the training grounds," she added. "But other than that, no." She would be happy to meet her actually. Even if Arthur and her shared an intimate relationship. Her imagination had always run wild when thinking about it, but when she imagined the king with Guinevère she didn't really panic.
She assumed that Guinevère's kind ways made her more acceptive of her as Arthur's future queen. "Not much can happen in one day, I suppose, but how are coping?" She asked him, changing the subject. Then Sasha worried that he might think she was talking about the whole Morgana thing. She knew they had been close and that it was a a sensitive subject for him. So she added, "With being King, I mean."

He noticed her change the subject and did not quite say anything returning to the topic of Guinevère. For both of their comfort. While Arthur was not ashamed of her in the least bit, nor wished to hide the fact that they were together . . . some things were just so important to him that he found it difficult to talk about. He was bad enough at vocalizing his emotions that when it came to the subject of Guinevère, he would always find it difficult to speak about, because she meant so much to him. Speaking of his inability to speak what emotions were in his heart, her next question posed some difficulty in answering. He knew she was asking out of concern, and he truly appreciated that. He did not want to lie to her, but he knew he would have to swallow whatever guilt and weakness he was experiencing, and appear strong and confident. He faintly smiled before his mind organized his words enough to speak. "I knew this day was inevitable," he began to say. He knew the day would come where his father would pass on and he would be king.
He just never expected the circumstances to be as they were. He never thought that he would have been the one who killed his father. Others could tell him it was not his fault, that he was exempt from blame, but Arthur knew that was not true. And that was why he would not keep reiterating the fact that he was to blame for Uther's death. He would never forgive himself for what he had allowed to happen. "I am coping as well as can be expected," he said, still faintly smiling, not wanting to sound overly negative but found it impossible to jump for joy at his newly attained title and position. The entire kingdom would be watching him a hundred times closer now; and he was the ultimate authority. He was ultimately responsible for every life within this kingdom. "Did you enjoy yourself this evening?" He asked, wondering how she had found the events. He was genuinely curious, but his motives were also related to the fact that he wanted to shift the conversation off of him. Though he knew that was not entirely easy, considering today was the day of his coronation.

Sasha knew she had to address this subject carefully, and especially gently because he was her best friend and she did not want to sound or uncaring. Because she was sad he had lost his father. Sasha knew that pain too well and had lived with it all these years. She was really one of the few who believed King Uther Pendragon to be a great king. . . and King Arthur would be even greater. “Even if it was inevitable, I'm still sorry,” she told him softly. “I can relate to what you're feeling.” She didn't want to dampen the mood, but she wanted to let him know that she cared about about him and that if he wanted to he could talk to her anytime about his father's death. Just like she could with him.
“That's good,” she commented, showing a slight half smile. She was well aware that he blamed himself for what had happened to his father, though she could not understand why. Sasha had not been when it had happened, she'd arrived only hours later. She knew he was not responsible though, and that he would never have done it on purpose even if he was. And when he changed the subject off of him she respected that. If he really felt that guilty about his father's death, that was another thing that had in common. For years Sasha had believed that she had been responsible for her own father's death when she had only been thirteen.
“Oh, it's been very nice,” Sasha answered, trying to give him a good detailed answer but also not dragging it out at the same time. “Nicolae is quite happy to be back,” she chuckled quietly. “We've been away so long we have forgotten how nice a Camelot evening can be.” There was another thing that she wanted to bring up... “I'm thinking about extending my visit. I've really missed Camelot.” Of course that was her way of saying she missed him. “And I'm sure Nicolae will be glad to hear that we can finally settle in one place for a while.” Oh wait, she almost forgot! “... Well, that is... if you'll have us?” After all, he was the King.

Arthur gave a small appreciative smile over his condolence. He knew that she was right. A loss of a father was something she could understand. It was a pain that he did not wish on anyone. He had always sympathized for those who had lost a father, and could only imagine what it would be like to lose his . . . trying to put himself in their position. However, the reality of it was far more painful than he ever could have imagined and prepared himself for. Even though he had known his father was dying, he had still held hope. Up until the moment magic had taken all his life from him. A moment that Arthur would never forget. Not wishing for the conversation to center around such dark things, he was grateful for her next words . . . seemingly a bit more uplifting in spirits. Especially as she spoke of how it was nice to be back, and how happy her half brother was.
To have returned. Even more so when she spoke of wishing to extend her visit. Something that was never unwelcome. He was only glad that he had not lost her as a friend. That she seemed happier now, rather than saddened. He'd not forget how he had led her on for some time, but was grateful that it seemed they'd both moved past that. "I am quite glad to hear that Sasha," he told her sincerely, to hear of her decision to stay for some time. To settle here once more. "Camelot welcomes you with open arms. It is your home after all," he said. It was his way of assuring her that he had no problems with her staying. That she was more than welcome to. "If you are planning to stay for some time, perhaps you should claim your father's lands. His estate is still there."
For he had been a noble of Camelot and all were given their own land and estates. It would be better than her having guest chambers in the castle for an unestablished period of time. For if she was in her own home, she could be in full comfort. "I'm sure it would be easier for you and Nicolae to have a place to call your own home." Of course he would offer her guest chambers to help her get settled back in, but he also wanted her to have a proper home. And as she was the daughter of a noble . . . his land would have fallen under her possession. Rather than her mother's for, well . . . everyone knew that situation by now. She was no friend of Camelot's. Not after her past actions, so therefore, Sasha would have more entitlement to the land than Delilah.
