.:Name of Character:.Sir Kenric Dale .:Nick Name:. Ken, Kenny, Sir Tripsalot .:Age:. 23 .:Race:. Camelotian .:Status:. Knight
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Sir Kenric is a handsome young man, with curly light brown hair and soft brown eyes. He's tall, but often doesn't carry himself that way, and often walks with his shoulders hunched, as if he's trying to make himself look smaller. He's in good shape, but not overly muscular, and is often seen hiding toward the back of any group of knights, as if to avoid standing out or being noticed. .:Height:.6'1" .:Portrayed by:. Heath Ledger <3
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:.Kenric is very shy and somewhat awkward. He often doesn't know how to behave in social situations and tries to hide behind his "official" duties as a knight. But for those who are able to get past his defenses, they will find that he's a warm, good-hearted young man who just wants to do the right thing. He isn't the best knight, but he makes up for his shortcomings with his bravery and sense of honor. He always tries to do what he believes is right. Although he is extremely loyal to Arthur, he will, on occasion, refuse to follow an order if he thinks it is the wrong thing to do. In Uther's time, he was disciplined for this several times. This is part of why he is always trying to avoid attention. The other reason is that he is rather clumsy, particularly during training. He's been known to trip over his own armor and fall on his face. He's better in actual battle situations, because he's focusing on the task and not allowing himself to be nervous. This works to his advantage, because his reputation for being clumsy has caused a lot of people to underestimate him in battle. .:Strengths:. - Strong sense of right and wrong: He'll go out of his way to do what he thinks is right, even if it goes against orders.
- Bravery: He'll take great risks in battle, even if he thinks he can't win.
- Singularity of focus: In battle, he is always able to focus on what's happening and what must be done.
- Crossbow: He has great aim and is sometimes used as a sharpshooter when necessary, especially during hunts.
- Warm and caring: He often helps some of the poor people of Camelot during his off-time.
.:Weaknesses:.
- Clumsy: During practices, he's been known to trip and fall, earning him the name "Sir Tripsalot"
- Swordfighting: It's not his greatest skill. He does well enough in battle situations (he hasn't been killed, after all), but he gets nervous in practice and doesn't do as well as he should.
- Shy and soft-spoken: He's awkward in social situations and often mumbles when spoken to.
- Children: He has a weak spot for children, and will help them whenever he can
- Horses: When possible, he prefers to walk instead of ride. He has never been entirely comfortable on horseback.
- Women: He has no idea how to talk to them.
.:Magic Abilities:. No magical abilities whatsoever .:Special Skills:. Crossbow .:Accents:.light English accent
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Camelot .:Family:. - Father, Sir Elric Dale(deceased): Was one of Uther's knights until his death several years before Merlin's arrival in Camelot.
- Mother, Lady Elisabeth Dale(deceased): She died when Kenric was very young.
- Grandmother, Lady Marian Dale(deceased): She helped raise young Kenric after the death of his mother. She was the last member of his family to die, having lived a year longer than her son Elric.
.:Occupation:.Knight of Camelot .:Current Location of Residence:. Knight's Quarters .:History:. Sir Kenric knew, before he could even speak, that he would grow up to become a knight of Camelot. His father was a knight, as was his father before him. The family was of noble blood, but they still weren't the wealthiest family in Camelot by any means. They had more than enough to get by, but they weren't living in luxury, either. In Kenric's family it was all about duty and honor, and this was how Kenric was raised. He played with toy swords, and was fitted for his first suit of armor before he turned eight years old.
But Kenric was a shy boy, and didn't always feel entirely comfortable with the role life had handed him. He wasn't incredibly confident in his abilities, and he doubted that he could live up to the family expectations. By the time he started his knight training officially, he was all but convinced that he wasn't good enough. His early training sessions were such a disaster that he was almost ejected from the training program. But because of his family legacy, he was allowed to continue, and eventually improved somewhat. He still had a tendency to trip and fall, but in simulated battle situations, he seemed to gain confidence.
His father never lived to see his only son follow in his footsteps. He died in battle, sacrificing himself to protect the king himself. He was hailed as a hero, and Kenric was presented with a medal in his honor, which he still wears every day. Although some think he considers it a good luck charm, Kenric actually thinks of it as a reminder of all he has to live up to.
