It was so nice to see Camelot again after a month of being away from anything that Lucan could deem as ‘scenic’. The Group were tired and just as eager to get home to their families. He had missed Camila a lot; jeez he’d even missed Griff! And that was saying something! He just couldn’t wait to see the look on her face. He’d felt guilty about having to leave a day after her birthday, in fact he’d spent every day regretting it, but he didn’t care now, he was home.
Once everything was in order he headed back to the estate. His armour felt heavier than usual, and it seemed he’d only noticed just how hot he felt. Seeing the estate was a more welcome sight – he dismounted and handed the stable boy his horse whilst he headed on inside. Thomas, the servant bowing his head as he greeted him at the door. “Welcome back my lord, I trust the journey was pleasant.” Oh he had no idea! Lucan just smiled and nodded, “Yes, it was thank you Thomas.”
“Is there anything I can get for you my lord?”
“Not at the moment Thomas, where is Lady Camila?” he asked
Thomas looked around, “I believe she is at the de Archer Estate my lord, I haven’t seen her since this morning, but then again she could have returned?” The servant looked unsure, and then again he’d tried as hard as he could not to interrupt his master and his wife, ever since the awkward moment the morning after their wedding. Luc had found it pretty hilarious all the same.
“It’s ok, I’ll look for her” he sighed and headed out into the garden, Cam liked to spend some time out there so perhaps he’d strike lucky and find her. “Camila?” he called, “Cam?”

Camila had had enough of staying with Griff and Caitrin after some time. They had been terrific hosts but Cam felt like she had been too much of a bother to them even if she had been helping Caitrin out with the twins a lot. Her in-laws seemed so happy that she felt as if she were just spoiling their mood with her constant worry about Lucan. Of course, they were strongly against her returning to Allard's Estate and staying there alone. Cam couldn't blame them; she was in a rough state when she was alone. So she promised she still go and visit during the day, mainly to please them but also to get herself out of the Estate at least once. There was nothing else she really felt like doing anymore. She didn't read anymore, or practice her archery, she hardly socialized besides Griff, Caitrin and the servants. She just wanted to fall asleep until her husband returned to save herself the trouble. Unfortunately, she couldn't. She could hardly sleep at all. She had been taking sleeping draughts to at least get some rest, she had to for the sake of her unborn child.
Cam sat in the garden all morning; it was her favorite place to be. She didn't do much, she just sat on a bench next to the small pond they had back there. She needed the fresh air, otherwise being cooped up inside. The gentle birdsongs were the only happy thing around her right now. It took her a moment to realize that the chirping wasn't the only sound in the air anymore. Someone was calling her, and she knew it was Lucan. Excitement ran through her and she stood in a sudden jolt. Her heart raced in her chest but she didn't turn around to look for him just yet. What if she was imagining it? It had happened once before. She would be crushed... but she could not not look.
Cam turned around and walked out onto the small path that led to the house. Her heart almost leap out of her chest when she saw him, still in his armour and calling out for her. "Lucan!" She called back at him before picking up her dress and running to him. She threw her arms around his neck and held onto him tightly, not even noticing that her cheeks were moist with tears now. She pulled away enough to face him and started to fix him up a little, frantically; she swept aside his hair a few times and touched any and every part of his face, making sure that he was really there with her and wiping away any dirt at the same time. She couldn't believe that she was really there.
(a little meh, lots of cam muse today, but this post felt a little off)

Woah! Cam seemed to have run so fast to him that he hadn’t time to even register that she was there until she practically threw herself at him. He could’ve sworn that she had grown more beautiful, she looked happy and had a certain glow about her that he just found as enchanting as when he had first met her.
She was touching his face, tears staining her own. He frowned slightly at this. “Why are you crying?” he asked, “hopefully not at the fact that I’ve actually come back alive.” Shooting a certain look her way, he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her forehead gently, just as he had done so when he’d rode out. Now he was back in her arms. It killed him to leave her, but seeing her again had made all of that disappear.
Seeing as she was sweeping aside his hair he may as well tuck that darn stray one of hers behind her ear. “I’ve missed you” he smiled, “I hear that you’ve been spending lots of time with my brother and Caitrin, are they all ok?” he asked and then looked at her worriedly, “more importantly are you ok?”.
(gah! Short but hey! )

Of course he would be his typical self no matter how worn out he should be and probably was. Cam gave a small laugh as she shook her head, probably crying even more. "Never. I'm just so happy you're back." She could never let herself think that he wouldn't come back to her alive, she knew he would, he always did. God forbid, the day came when only his body returned, Cam might just kill him even if he was already dead. But there was just something about Lucan, he always got out of trouble. She felt at home now, with his arms around her and his lips against her forehead. Things were right again.
She had missed him so much, even missed how he pushed aside that one annoying strand of hair of hers aside. "I've missed you too." She had missed him far too much. "They're fine, they were just worried about me being alone for too long." She explained. "I'm fine, I'm great, I'm... just so glad you're back!" She stroked his cheek with her thumb unable to keep herself from beaming. There was so much she still had to tell him but she wanted to know if he was alright first. "How are you? Nothing broken? How was the quest?" Camila asked, looking him over quickly. She was sure that he wasn't hurt, or not much if he was as all.

He could feel her, she felt more tense than normal? Perhaps it was all the worrying that she had been probably doing, knowing Camila. She practically worried for him all the time, even when he told her not to. They both knew there might be a day where he might not come back and she had been more than prepared to take that chance by marrying him.
Luc gave a small laugh as she stumbled over her words, flooded by the relief of him being home, “I’m in one piece.” He looked himself up and down to check that he didn’t have any kind of injury that had managed to sneak its way across his body unnoticed. Thankfully there were none, only scars underneath his armour and clothes as a reminder of various incidents he’d been present at. He hadn’t even discussed how he’d come to gain each one with Cam, for one he didn’t enjoy bringing up the subject or remembering, and secondly she’d most likely faint at the details anyway. “I did my duty, and overall it was successful that’s all I really have to say about it” he shrugged, wanting to the close the topic.
Offering her his arm, he began to guide her down the path. He very rarely had a chance to actually spend any time with Camila, especially since he’d been away, so now was the perfect chance. “You look…different…” he said, looking at the ground and patting the arm entwined with his, gently. “I hope you haven’t been worrying too much, the last thing I want is for you to be ill.”

Camila smiled, glad that he wasn't hurt, and that he was still himself. "Good." As long as he was back in one piece, it was all she could ask for. Cam knew that the quest was some of a secret and she respected that. She also didn't say a word when he replied to her courtly. She ask about it seeing as it obviously seemed to be a subject that Lucan didn't want to talk about. At least not right now. She would leave it alone until he wanted to talk about it. Cam just nodded.
She grinned when he offered her his arm and took it happily and let him lead her back into the garden. So he'd noticed. "I've been worried, I really can help but worry." She admitted. "I've been taking sleeping draughts to get any rest, but I guess I don't have to anymore." She added with a small grin at the thought. Cam pulled Lucan over to the bench she had been sitting on a moment ago and sat down, inviting him to sit with her. "But despite everything, I've got some terrific news." She beamed, taking his hand in hers. She felt a jolt of excitement rush through her. "Luc, I'm pregnant." She finally said, just waiting for his reaction.

He sighed when she admitted she’d been worrying, resorting to sleeping draughts to get some rest of a night. He wished he’d have the privilege of some of those whilst being away. “Camila” he tutted and shook his head, “When you worry then that makes me worry” he admitted, “and you know how I get when I worry about you.” Yes, a nervous wreck!
Ah her favourite spot, by the pond.
Hang on, why was she sitting him down, more importantly, why had she suddenly taken her hands in his?! Had someone died?! His father? Allard?! Elaine! "But despite everything, I've got some terrific news." Ok, no one had died, that was a relief. "Luc, I'm pregnant."
He blinked his expression blank trying to take in what she had just said to him. Had she just said that she was pregnant? As in, with child? As in BABY?! A baby? Their child? Oh crikey! Lucan now found himself staring at her, the words still trying to chisel themselves into his mind. Finally, they seemed to sink in. She was carrying their child – something that they had both wanted for a while. Something that Elaine had chided about some months back. A grin started to form on his lips, seeing Camila’s own expression. That was why she looked different!
“You’re…we’re….” he stumbled over his words; “baby!” was all that came out, how pathetic. He laughed slightly at his own stupidity, “You’re carrying our baby?!” he grinned and shook his head once again in disbelief – how on earth was there a baby in there? “Cam, this is…this is just….” He didn’t even know what to say, “Amazing.” He finally managed to find a word to sum up the situation, although at the moment nothing quite came close to it. His hand rested on her stomach as he kissed her lips gently, “are you sure?”

Camila gave him a caring look. "You don't have to worry about me, I'm done worrying. You're here and there's nothing for me to worry about now." She tried to ease his worries. Lucan was always over worrying about her when there was no reason for him to be worrying, especially now. There was really nothing for him to be worried about. She was fine, he was fine. It's all that mattered right now.
Cam sat there watching him. She wanted to be patient but there was something in her that was just dying for his reaction and he was taking a long time to process the news. But then he started to speak. Well, started to stutter and blurt out half-thoughts. You could say that he was speechless. Cam smiled a little more watching his reaction and couldn't help but laugh a little. "Our little boy or girl." She nodded. Luc placed his hand on her stomach and kissed her. Cam smiled into the kiss, having missed the feeling and too glad at how happy he was, and she placed her hands on the one on her stomach. "I'm very sure. I've seen the physician already a few times." Besides, she had been getting sick from time to time because of her pregnancy, she had no other explanation for why she would be. That and many other signs.

He still had no idea what to say, her hand rested on his over her stomach, there was a baby in there? It was still hard to believe, and Camila certainly wasn’t joking. A little boy or girl would soon be in their arms and it was just how quickly that the time would pass that it would be real. It was a scary thought, and he was a hard person to scare. He’d certainly need some of Griff’s advice at this rate, if he’d been worrying about Cam before, he’d certainly be worrying about her more now. Worry for two people rather than one.
“I…I just…I can’t believe that they’ll be another person in this house” he grinned, watching his hand on her stomach. She’d seen the physician, all was well apparently, and at least he could be sure that there was defiantly a baby there.
“You do realise I’m going to worry for you more now?” he told her, “and I want you to take it easy.” She was so fragile and yet so strong. His hand mindlessly tapped away on her stomach, he didn’t want to move it, just in case everything would somehow disappear and it wouldn’t be true.

Camila was excited to have a child of her own. She had loved taking care of Arthur and Esmae during her stay with Caitrin and Griff so much. She had taken to the children and they, her. Cam also knew how important it was for Lucan and her to have a child, especially a boy. Girls weren't heirs. And seeing as Lucan would become the Duke of Glouchedon when his father past, there was pressure for Lucan to raise his own heir. Cam didn't care if it was a boy or a girl, she just wanted a child to love and to hold. She knew that Luc would feel the same.
Lucan kept stuttering in disbelief and Cam couldn't help but laugh a little. "It's rather exciting, isn't it?" Cam was almost bouncing with excitement. She took one of her hands off of Lucan's and stroked his cheek again. "You shouldn't worry so much, love." She said, giving him a smile before she gave him a gentle kiss. "We," She started, holding his hand against her stomach with both her hands again, a little tighter. "Are going to be fine."

No matter how many times Camila could say that they were going to be ‘fine’, the word didn’t even cut a thin slice of what risks there were. Lucan knew all to well that he could lose either, or even both. He didn’t even want to think of it, of what could happen – Camila and now their unborn child were everything to him, and to try and even think of a life without either or both was unbearable. He hadn’t any recollection of how he’d even got by before Cam came into his life. She was his everything, and he’d gladly give his own life or hers in a heartbeat.
“Cam, I’m serious…” he gently squeezed her hand that was on his, even though it was protectively covering her stomach. His child, their child was in there, unaware of the happenings or what was to come when he or she entered the world.
“I can’t lose you…both of you…” he told her, “You’re my everything, so promise me you’ll take it easy and not roll your eyes like I know you do, when I tell you to just slow down.” He knew what Cam was like; in no time she’d grow bored easily and would most likely do something that would give him some kind of heart attack.
Smiling slightly he looked to the nice little scenic view before them. “So Luc junior it is, even if it’s a girl – right that’s settled then.” The smirk on his lips making it obvious that he was joking.

Cam didn't feel so happy anymore as she looked into her husband's eyes as he spoke. He was really worried and she didn't blame him, but she would be serious when she had told him that she would take things easy until their child arrived. There was a chance that she could lose the baby before or during the birthing. Camila was already so in love with the unborn child within her that the thought of losing it hurt already. It was a part of her now. He or she was a product of how much she and Lucan loved each other. However, there was also a chance of other complications. Eloise, Camila's mother, had suffered some when she gave birth to her daughter. She had barely made it through the whole process herself. Eloise managed to pull through in the end but would never be able to have children again.
Cam wanted many children, knowing how long time could be when one was an only child and she loved children. But she also needed to survive the pregnancies to raise her children. "I know, I will." She nodded, looking down at their hands on her stomach, feeling tears roll down her face again. But these weren't the happy tears from earlier, these were sad. Cam didn't want to lose her child and she didn't want to die trying to bring her child into the world.
She laughed, she had married they perfect man for her, that was for sure. He knew just how to make things right. "You can't be serious? I wanted to name him or her after me." She joked.

He could see the tears forming in her eyes as he spoke. It wasn’t going to be an easy ride – carrying a child never really was for any woman. He brushed a few tears away with his thumb. “Come now Cammy, don’t cry” he kissed her softly, not wanting to dampen any happiness that they had. “Do you know what?” he turned to her, “I’ve faced some scary things over the years, and I’ll admit to you now that this has to be the scariest” he chuckled – he, Lucan Aubert could be such an idiot at things like this. “The thought of being responsible for someone so small …” his hand trailed across her stomach. There was only a slightly indication that she was carrying his child from where his hand was rested; soon it would be clear to everyone.
He had to tell Griff….
Knowing his brother, he’d most likely come out with some sardonic line along the scale of ‘wow…never knew you had it in you…’ even the thought of Griff saying that made Luc roll his eyes. Trust his little brother to say something like that, and it was only in his mind!
“Cam junior?” he scrunched up his nose, “Nah, I believe that Lucan junior is better” he smirked, “Although knowing you, you’ve most likely picked out some names already” he smirked. Cam was ever the perfectionist, so of course she must have done. No doubt they would be prefect, and so would their child, whatever the name.

Camila looked down at their hands on her stomach again. She already had so much love for her unborn child that it hurt her to think that there was a chance that she might never get to raise him or her. But she would rather give her own life for her child in a heartbeat. Cam raised her face to let her husband wipe away her tears. His comment about this being the scariest thing he had ever encountered only slightly reassured her because it was a very frightening thing all the same. "If it was a fight or a war, I would at least know how to defend myself. But this... I don't know how..." It was so confusing. "My mother barely made it after she gave birth to me, Lucan." She reminded him sadly. "I want to be here for our child." All she knew was that if anything were to go wrong, she wanted Caitrin to help Lucan, she was perhaps the only person she trusted to, besides her own mother, but she was get old and she didn't need the burden.
Cam laughed at his reaction. Of course she was only teasing him. "I was thinking more along the lines of Camila the second?" She teased. "Well, yes, i have. But I want your opinions too." Camila added, resting her head on his armored shoulder. "If it's a boy, I was thinking maybe Benjamin or Lucas... And if it's a girl, maybe Nadia or Heidi... What do you think?" She asked, turning her head to look up at him. She really wanted to his opinion on the names she wanted and she wanted to hear his suggestions as well.
"We should really get you out of this armour, you know? It can't be all that comfortable." Camila added. It really looked heavy too and now that he was home, he didn't need it.
(blah and bad, sorry it took forever) (obviously, luc could suggest sam for a boy too XD )

Lucan knew the threat of childbirth, he would worry up until the day the little one entered the world. He gave a small sigh and squeezed Cam’s hand. “This is certainly something else…” he spoke in a small voice that was barely audible. “Of all the things that I’ve come up against, this is no doubt by far the hardest, and I’ll admit that…” he looked to Cam and smile weakly, “You’ll fight, you’re a fighter and we both know that.” He remembered her withered expression when he’d first visited after being stuck in the dungeon when Morgana had her rampage against Uther and Camelot. She’d come up against far more than he had during that time, Lucan had just been sitting in a dungeon waiting for his death sentence from the tyrannical ‘Queen’.
Then the subject of baby names? Cam had certainly thought a lot of this through whilst he’d been away. “Heidi” he rolled the name on his tongue and smiled. “I like it…as for a boy? I was thinking along the lines of Samuel?”
He raised his brows at the suggestion of freeing himself of the armour finally. He couldn’t complain – he was used to the feel and the weight, when he’d first been knighted he’d hated the fact that on some of the hottest days it would feel like a human oven. Never the less Lucan had soon become accustomed to it, just as he had done his job. It was something he’d worked towards since his mother had been alive, should his father choose his timing well – then he hoped he could at least have another few years as a knight, but somehow Lucan knew that this wouldn’t happen, and it saddened him to think that one day he would have to just give it all up to sit around an estate all day. His father may have wanted it when he was Lucan’s age, but Luc certainly didn’t. Allard’s letters had been promising the last few times, so he was preparing himself for the worst. “Hmmm, I suppose so…” he replied, finally collecting his thoughts together and answering his wife. “Im used to the weight, most of the time I don’t even realise I’m wearing it.”
Standing up, he offered a hand to Cam and walked down the path to the house. “How has everything been since I left?” he asked.

True. Cam was a fighter, she knew it too. But that didn't do much to comfort her. When she looked back to the hardships she had been through over the past years, mainly when she had been taken by Morgana's men. She had been locked away in a lonely cell for Lord knows how long, only to be kept as a weapon to be used against Lucan, should he be too difficult. Yes, Camila had been a true fighter, not a brave one — she yelled until her throat burned and cried at least once a day for good amount of time — but she had fought and made it out with much of her old self intact for her then to become fiancé. Lucan called that a fighter, but she called it nearly making it out alive, with her sanity. Cam couldn't do much else besides give Lucan a sad grin and look down.
Camila gave a genuine smile as Luc gave his thoughts on the names. "Oh, I rather like that name. Samuel." It was a lovely name. Rolled off the tongue pleasantly. "Heidi or Samuel it is then." Cam got a littler more excited know that they had named their unborn child.
Cam let herself be led back to the Estate as they talked. "Nothing, really." She confessed, intertwining her fingers with his. "Things have been rather boring and lonesome without you, to tell the truth."

Lucan wasn’t surprised at how content his wife now seemed, now that he was back at home. He knew that she would have worried herself at every given moment. “Haven’t you even seen Cait or Griff?” he frowned. His brother was only nearby at the de Archer Estate; surely she would have spent time with them?
He couldn’t imagine his wife being bored. She was so energetic that even he couldn’t keep up with what she was doing. She was either out for a walk or overseeing things in the house. He just let her go about her own business – Camila was a woman who did as she pleased and had no one stand in her way. Lucan just kept himself to himself, working or shutting himself away in the private study where he’d write his uncle more than his father.
They headed inside and upstairs where Luc could finally take his chainmail off. “Have you heard from your parents?” he asked, pulling his tunic off and splashing some water from the nearby basin onto his face. Now that felt good. He replaced the tunic for a new one and rearranged his hair after putting it on. He looked like he’d been dragged through a hedge backwards. It was first time he’d looked into a mirror for some weeks and now he saw the extent. The dark circles under his eyes were enough to show for it, but he’d most certainly sleep well tonight.

"No, I did. Like I said, I've only been back at the Estate for a few days, now." Cam reminded him. "Caitrin started getting worried about me after about three weeks. I had visited her during that time but after that time, she and Griff invited me to stay with them." She had felt so out of place, staying with Griff and Caitrin, especially with the twins. They were a handful on their own. "It helped Caitrin to have me around for the twins but I couldn't stay much longer." Caitrin had to keep making her sleeping remedies which took too much of her energy, Cam thought. She was already up all night with the kids. Helping Cait out wasn't all that bad, though. They bonded a lot and Cam learned important things about raising children.
They made their way upstairs together and reached their room. For the past several weeks, the space had been an unpleasant place for Camila without Lucan. She hardly got any real shut eye without him sleeping next to her, resorting to sleeping draughts to get any rest at all for the baby's sake, and her own. But now with Lucan back, the room was more welcoming to her and was far more comfortable. As they walked in, Camila instantly noticed that the servants had set out another vial of medicine for her on the dresser, as they had been for while now. She grinned to herself, thinking about how she wouldn't be needing it tonight. She could finally rest properly and naturally again.
Camila picked up the small bottle and turned it delicately over in her hand. The sound of moving chainmail was followed by her husband's voice, bringing her back from the little reverie she was having over the bottle. "Not in a few days. They were rather worried about me as well... Lord know how far more worried they would be, had I told them aboutmy being pregnant."
[/b] She confessed. It wasn't like she had not wanted to tell her parents, she really could not wait, but she just could not find the energy to make the trip over to Faintree and share in their excitement fully. Of course, she would not worry Luc with those details, though. "I was hoping that we could both go charge the news with them." Cam went on as she looked over at her husband and finding him shirtless as he washed up. Obviously, she has seen far more of Lucan than that since their wedding. However, it had been over a month since she had seen him at all and her body knew it, too. Her stomach was tight, her heart was beating a little faster and she felt a little warm as she watched him. Perhaps it was her hormones; Caitrin had mentioned something about them being a little out of control. But perhaps it was just the long period of time they had spent apart (which was what Cam figured) that made her body react in such a way. Cam paused for a moment, finding herself unable and unwilling to do anything but stare at Luc. "I had thought..." She started slowly as he pulled on a new shirt. "That we could visit your father, if you'd like? Maybe you could see your brother, as well? I have only told Caitrin, so far." She finished. Cam found herself disappointed now that Lucan had dawned another tunic, and also slightly embarrassed by how she had reacted. Only slightly. She knew she had every right to feel the way she did but because she hasn't felt like that in so long, she felt a little embarrassed. Cam found herself wanting to take the darn shirt right off, or wanting to tell Lucan to do so. However, without his bulky armour, she did get to see his shape again, under his tunic. It at least made him look like himself, but Camila still held her opinion on his shirt needing to be removed. She played with the vial, still, mindlessly as she went over these thoughts in her head. Lucan didn’t know how Camila’s parents would react when they would finally tell them that she was with child. Obviously they would be just as concerned as he was, her mother especially. He could see his wife’s face changing in the mirror as he washed up. “Are you ok?” he turned to her after pulling on his tunic, “you look a little peaky?” Bring the back of his hand to her forehead she didn’t see hot, just a little flushed in the cheeks.
He hoped that she didn’t want them to go to her parents that afternoon, all he wanted to do was sleep, and the mention of his father almost made him want to throw himself out of the window. “That wouldn’t be necessary…” he told her, knowing full well that visiting his father would only cause a rift and he would be reminded constantly that Camila would let him down as a wife if she didn’t give him a son. “This is a time that I don’t exactly wish to see him, besides he’s growing weaker, and I know that it would be strenuous on all of us.” If there was one thing that Lucan didn’t want, then it was Camila stressing over nothing. “I’ll send a message to him this evening.”
Planting a small kiss on her forehead, he noted that vial that she was toying with a frowned. “What’s this?” he asked taking it out of her hands and turning it over in his own. Was it for the baby? Was she ill and hadn’t told him? He was worrying now.

Cam's cheeks burned up a little when Lucan asked her if she was alright. Of course she was, but she couldn't let him know what she was just thinking and what was making her react like she did. How could she answer him in a wait that would not make him worry about her. He always worried too much. "I'm fine, love. Just... since I'm pregnant... my body has odd reactions from time to time. It's alright." She shook her head lightly. She hadn't lied to her husband, because her body would and was acting differently than it usually did. It was a good thing that she told him now because there would be tough days for him, as Caitrin explained to her one day. She mind get sick now and then, especially in the morning, she might have odd mood changes, as well as many other things. It all seemed worth it when she thought about their child.
Camila nodded. Somehow it had slipped her mind that Lucan and his father weren't on the best of terms and that his father was also ill. "Alright." She said simply, turning the bottle in her hands still. "We can go see my parents later on this week. You need to rest. A month and a half is a long time to be gone on a mission." And the time that he would take to rest, so would she since she finally could, now. She was already feeling all her sleepless nights slowly creeping up on her but she wouldn't let that show. Lucan didn't need to be concerned, she could handle herself.
She looked down at her hands with him and back up again at him as he took the bottle from her. Her cheeks burned a little again. "Oh. Like I had mentioned earlier, I've been taking sleeping draughts to get any sleep at all." Camila explained, tilting her head to the side a bit. "I think I can stop taking them now." She finished, a small grin drawing itself on her face.
