Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! we live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY Galahad was furious! It was the final two in the melee, everyone was watching . . . and he could have sworn he saw hesitation from his opponent. Galahad already had issues with the knight he had been faced against -- one that led into their childhood. So he had been looking forward to knocking him on his arse, fair and square. But noooooooo! The imbecile just had to hesitate! Galahad was named victor but he didn't feel like it was a victory! Instead, he just felt incredibly agitated, and stormed off the field, right into his chambers.
He threw his sword to the ground before turning over his table out of anger! He should have just punched the man again! He would demand a rematch! He didn't care what the rules said but then . . . would he hesitate again if he did?! Hearing a light knock at the door before it opened, Galahad didn't even look to see who it was. "Get out!" He demanded, not even considering that it could be his father or Guinevère. Anyone else . . . he could get away with speaking to in such a way.

Guinevère, Queen of Camelot, had been sitting in her sit beside her husband when she saw it happen. She knew how her son would react, and she knew this wouldn't sit well with him. Like her, Galahad's emotions were too close to the surface. He expressed them no matter if he wanted too to not. She looked over at her husband and smiled softly, "I should check on him," she said, but didn't move at first; lingering to share a knowing smile with her husband.
Guinevère, was not his mother by birth, but by marriage. And while she loved all three of the children she's inherited by marrying Arthur; Galahad had a special place in her heart. Their journey to being a family had been the hardest, and perhaps the most intense. Because of that they'd always been closer then she first thought they could be.
She walked up to his room, and knocked on the door--hearing his snapped reply. Pushing open the door she stepped in, but left it open. "I assumed you meant to get out of the hall," She said calmly with a soft smile, "So I am only doing as you asked." Closing the room, she walked in and looked at the floor. As she was a servant in the beginning, she knew someone would have to clean this. Bending she picked up one iteam that had rolled all the way over here and sat it on the table near by. "You know he was only trying to get under your skin? That you would have won anyway?"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! we live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY His mother. Galahad should have expected that. Though it did not lessen his fury in the situation. He glanced at her pick something up before proceeding to tell him that he was just trying to get under his skin; that he would have won anyway. "How the hell do I know that?!" He asked rhetorically. "How the hell does anyone know that?!" Another rhetorical question.
"People can say it but it proves nothing! You and father are already bias when it comes to who would have been victor," he said irritably, but more over the situation than the actual thought of his mother believing he would have won. "How am I to prove myself if others don't even try?!" He wanted to win, fair and square. He wanted to earn the title of champion, because he deserved it! "All this shows is that no one would dare strike a prince! I rather he stab me in the bloody arm to show that he could!" At least he would know the damn knight was trying and not holding back!

Sometimes one of the son's of Arthur Pendragon were so much like their father, and Guinevère had to fight not smile at times where the humor would have been unwelcome. This was one of the times. Arthur had never used such language around her, but then Galahad was not his father. "Is it very necessary to prove yourself?" She asked, wondering if it was his pride that was injured, or if this (like many things he did) was coming from somewhere deeper?
Yes she was bias, she wanted him to win with the same fervor she wanted him to NOT even complete in the joust. How trying to not get hit with a pole was fun, she'd never understand. "I would rather no one stabbed you in the arm--or anywhere," She calmly countered, knowing he was being dramatic. "Perahps I m bias, but I have never let that hinder my judgment. You'd worked your whole life to be better then all the other knights. Do not let one arrogant moment take that away from you."
She couldn't help but to think of Arthur, and his own time that Leon had upset him causing him to enter a joust as a pretend knight and fight fairly.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! we live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY Was it necessary to prove himself. His mind was screaming yes, but Galahad listened as his mother explained that his bias did not hinder her judgment . . . that he worked his whole love to be better than the others. To not let this moment ruin that. "Yet, it is moments like this where it counts." Where all eyes were upon them. It was not training, or sparring, or even in the midst of battle. "My role, is not to sit on a throne and rule the kingdom." He held no resentment to his brother who was fated for this.
Alymere's future was as king, not Galahad's, and he was perfectly content with that. "Mine, is to lead the men into battle." Because that, was where Galahad's strength lay. Not in diplomacy or rulings, but in combat and strategy. "How am I to prove I am fit to do that, if the people see me win because of my title?!" He kicked the chair over, as if saying the words reignited his anger. "The people will not trust me with their safety if they don't see me fit to ensure it." Because as the leader of the knights . . . he had to be fit for it. He had to prove that he was not a useless second son to the king and crown prince! He had a purpose, and he wished to fulfil it, and . . . he needed to make sure the people trusted him to do so.

Guinevère listened to his words, and tried to think about how he felt. He didn't talk about pride, and his reasoning was sound and clearly thought out--even if it was delivered in the heat of the moment. Guinevère looked back at the door, and then her son. Over the years, he had gotten himself into a lot of trouble but never with her aid.
"And if there was a way to prove that you could best him, they would trust you more?" She asked, her mind thinking of the plan, but she needed to know that this was more then him just being angry over that one knight doing this. "How will that aid in the people trusting you more?" She asked, stepping closer and looking around.
It could work. She could make him clothes, and they could find someone to be the face of the knight. They even already had a fake noble man who he could be. She'd never done anything like this before, and she was a little excited about it! When Arthur had done this she helped, but had not been there on the planning and other parts!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! we live TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY A way to prove it. Did she have a way? Or was she just asking hypothetically? "It would!" He confirmed. "It would show that the people can trust the leader of the knights, without having to worrying that I can fall so easily." People wanted to see strength in the one who led them. Alymere's strength was more of the mind, and Galahad's was of brawn. While his brother proved himself over and over, Galahad wished to follow in his footsteps!
Her second question however . . . brought to Galahad's mind that this wasn't just about proving himself to the people. But also, to himself. But voicing that sounded ridiculous! . . . Didn't it? "If people see me fall, or be given special treatment . . . how can they trust me? How can they rest assured that the second Pendragon son can lead protect them? This is my role to fulfil and without . . . winning fairly, I'm just a useless sod with no purpose but to have others bow down in my presence." The last part was quite sarcastic, but the sentiment held. He would be useless . . . if he couldn't even prove to himself that he held worth.

Guinevère watched him closely, remaining silent for a long moment, while thinking. Then she finally gave a nod of her head, as if coming to a decision before smiling at her son. "Have I ever told you about my first kiss with your father?" She asked, already knowing the answer. Galahad knew the story--she was a servant, they fell in love. He even knew that she had fought with Arthur at Eldor, something most didn't know; but a first kiss wasn't something you shared with your children.
Knowing that she was changing the subject, and how he would react, Guinevère walked over to the table he flipped and picked up some paper and the quill. Stalling--mostly to tease him--she looked for the bottle of ink. Once she found it, she carried it to the table. "It began with Sir Leon telling your father that he let him win a joust, because he was a prince." And ended with her heart being given to a prince she couldn't have.
