Guinevère waited. Arthur and the knights of round table (yes all 5 of them) and Merlin had left two days ago to go and try to free Uther from Morgana's hold. They would figure out what to do next. And so, Guinevère waited. She stayed here, knowing she'd not be helpful on this mission, and that if found Morgana would kill her. So, she waited. And waited. And waited.
While only days, the waiting felt forever. She worried something had gone wrong, or one of them might be killed. She worried it would be Arthur. She worried (for Arthur) it would be Uther. She worried for her brother. All the knights. Percvial. Gwaine. . . . Lancelot.
Finally, they came back! For a long moment she was worried, since Arthur was not with them, but seeing the smiles on there faces made her run out to greet, and hug each one of them. The news they carried was unbelievable! Thy's taken the kingdom back! Morgana had been defeated! They set out on that same say to go back tot he kingdom, camping at night and riding as far as they could in the day.
Seeing the flags over the hill, made goosebumps break over her skin! The closer she got, the most restless she found herself. Arthur! Camelot! Riding into the kingdom, into the castle, she felt no longer tired but wide awake and excited. Turning her horse into the courtyard, Guinevère smiled brightly! Arthur was waiting for her! He looked good! She'd worried about how she might find things, but everything was brighter and calm! It was as if Arthur was no longer a mere-prince; but had stepped into a role that he was born to be in and the kingdom almost glowed! Guinevère was so happy at seeing him, so relived to see him well, and the kingdom standing that she forgot to even run toward him. The horse took her toward him, and she could only grow still, and proud, and so happy to see him where he here! Arthur Pendragon!!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Much had happened, and perhaps Arthur's mind had not yet processed it all. But, he dealt with the immediate concerns. Once the kingdom had been saved by . . . Morgana -- a thought he was still not used to having -- everyone was working to rebuild the damage she had done. The first, being the king. Uther. Arthur could see it quite clearly that he was a broken man. This time, it was different than what had happened about a year ago. He had been asked to step into the role of acting king, and he had refused, believing it was treason. But this time . . . he did not reject it, He accepted it. Knowing, that right now, it was what Camelot needed. But there was still more than would need to be done, other priorities. One of which, was Guinevère.
He sent the men he trusted above all else, the greatest warriors he'd ever known . . . to bring her home. He hated not going with her, but his presence was needed here to finalize matters, accepting the role of acting king and ensuring that when she did come home . . . it would be to a stable kingdom. And so, he waited for her. Because despite all else that needed to be done, she was priority. The people he loved and cherished, were priority. So he ignored all else, sitting on the steps with Merlin, speaking to him. And then . . . he saw her ride in. Surrounded by the knights. "Who knows what the future will bring." And yet, here was a perfect glimpse of it. A queen, surrounded by the knights of Camelot. It was as if he was seeing into the future right now, for he knew, that he could only do this, with the people that he now saw, and Merlin who was by his side.
So where this expression seemed so impossible before, it came with ease and sincerity: he smiled. Deciding not to wait for her to come closer, he walked towards her, his arms extending out until his hands reached her hips and he helped her down from the horse. Where they had hid their relationship from all, he no longer cared to keep it secret. What had he told her in the castle of fallen kings? I don't care. And he meant it. He no longer wished to hide one of his greatest strengths, found in the woman he loved. And, the way they came together seemed so natural. With his hands still upon her hips he lowered his head, leaning down to kiss her lips. She was here. She was safe. And . . . this was the beginning of a new era. Their era.

Guinevère smiled as Arthur walked over to her, and Guinevère loved that they could be open about their friendship now! He reached up to help her down, and it reminded her of that once where he helped Morgana mount her horse; and she'd wanted nothing more int hat moment to be able to touch him in pubic. Now he helped her down from her horse!
She wanted to tell him how proud she was of him, how much she missed him, and so much more in that moment--yet instead his hand shifted to her arms and he bent to kiss her! HE was going to kiss her! In the court yard! With EVERYONE watching! Guinevère didn't hesitate to lift to her toes and meet him part of the way!
The world blurred slightly as the weight of the kiss over took her! They didn't have to hide any more! It was safe! This was truly the dawn--a bright moment! Slowly, her heels touched the ground as the kiss broke. She looked up at him with her heart in her eyes. "Everyone saw that," she breathed, in awe that he had just done that. Showed everyone how he felt so publicly! It was everything she had waited for!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Once the kiss had ended, he wrapped his arms around Guinevère in a hug, holding her, basking in the relief that she was safe. That she was home. Drawing back, he heard her words as a soft smile formed on hi slips. Everyone did indeed see. "Good," he answered simply, as if it was no big issue. As if it didn't matter . . . and it didn't. He was done hiding his feelings for Guinevère. His had knighted non noble men. And now, he wished to proclaim his love for Guinevère, regardless of the fact that she was a blacksmith's daughter. His father had been the reason he had not before, but there would be no more hiding.
He knew that Guinevère was cautious, for even in the castle she had spoke of how they would see . . . but now, it went beyond the knights. Whoever roamed in the courtyard would have witnessed it and truthfully, it felt as if a weight had been lifted. To be open with his feelings, to show that he held no shame for who he loved . . . it was all he had ever wanted. "Let them see," he added on, before leaning forward for another light kiss. Drawing back, the smile upon his lips reformed. "Come, you must be exhausted," he told her, offering his arm for her to take. The houses in the city were ruined so it would take time to clean them up. He wanted Guinevère to rest, to eat, to just be comfortable, especially after the ordeal she too had been through.

Guinevère kissed him back, and smiled up at him with so much hope in her face! He wanted them to see! Apart of her wanted to ask where Arthur was, and who was this man; yet she knew him. He was showing everyone what she'd seen all along in him. Love. And Greatness! While the events of recent days were dark, and twisted--seeing him now, and the hope he brought . . .
She was looking forward to the future. He offered her his arm, and Guinevère felt her eyes prickle. THIS was something she'd long for for ever! Looking back at the knights she thanked them for bringing her home, before turning to take Arthur's arm and let him take her in. "I find myself very untired," she told him, knowing the hope that this moment brought her erased everything! She felt awake and excited and full of energy! "I want to hear, from you, about what has happened." He had come to save his father, and ended up here! "Your father?" She asked, knowing that Uther must be alright if Arthur was smiling--yet the kiss said that something had changed! She wanted to know that!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Once she was ready, Arthur walked alongside her up the stairs to the castle, entering through the doors as she told him she was not tired, wishing to hear all that happened and then . . . asked about his father. Arthur knew he had to remain strong. Camelot could not afford the downfall of three Pendragons. Two was bad enough. "He's, alive." Barley. Truth was, Arthur didn't know how long he would live in the state he'd already seen him in. "And safe." He hated seeing his father like this. And he hated what Morgana had done to him.
It was all so . . . complicated, and Arthur couldn't even get answers from his father when he was like this. "Camelot is safe once more," he added on, wanting her to know that the city and castle was restored. As they made their way towards his cambers, Arthur pushed open the door so that she could enter first. Inside, was a change of clothes for her, a bowl and some water for her hands and if she so wished, her face, and a meal laid out on the table. "I figured you may want to freshen up," he told her with a smile, knowing the discomfort of being in the same clothes for days. "And have something to eat," he added on.

He didn't explain much about his father, and she wanted to know more. Yet, he would explain in his own time. She would not press for more so soon after she'd just arrived. His kisses, and taking here to his room without arranging to met her there quietly, spoke enough about what was happening. Arthur had power over his father. That much was clear, or things would be different. Alive. Safe. But he held no fear of what his father could do to her. Again.
He gave her water. A dress! Food. All in his chambers. Guinevère almost felt dizzy with the changes. Turning, she looked up at him. Him having had this readied for her, in his chambers instead of her home was louder then him screaming his love for her. "That would be wonderful," she said softly, feeling overwhelmed and . . . happy! "Would you be joining me?" She asked, stepping forward to--OH! "To eat!" She clarified! "For the food part!" Guinevère laughed at herself blushing from her words.
Guinevère smiled up at him, laughed, and then let him leave so she could bathe. It wasn't until she was naked, washing in his room that she realized what she was doing. She was bare. Around his things. Touching his desk. Near his bed. Heat flooded her, as she paused her washing to look around the room, and try to imagine this being her every day. It was larger then her whole home, but that wasn't what made her heat. It was how masculine it was. Arthur was everywhere. The bed was so close. His chain mail was so close. The desk where he worked was right there, and she could almost feel him sitting there looking at her. Staring at his seat, she pulled the dress to her, and shivered--not from cold or fear. From something better.
Once she was dressed, Guinevère walked to the door, and opened it so when he returned he would known he could enter. Then she went tot he mirror and looked at the dress. It was her new favorite! Made of thicker material then all her others, it would keep her warm in the cool months. It was the dress of a lady, not a handmaiden. Arthur's choice was bold. It made her heart swell! It hadn't escaped her thoughts that he knew her body well enough to know her size. She wished she had a brush, but instead she used her fingers while waiting on him.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Did he want to join her? He parted his lips in preparation of a reply when she quickly clarified. He knew what she meant, yet the opportunity to say something had been too tempting. He instead, told her that he would return in a little bit so that they could eat together. With that, he made his leave, closing the door behind him. But, he did not go far. He took a couple steps to the side, resting his back against the stone call as he closed his eyes for a moment. Would he be joining her?
One day was the silent, unspoken answer that entered his mind. One day, they could be together in every sense of the word. And with his father's state, he knew that day was coming closer. He did not wish his father dead, but he also knew what he would have to do to restore Camelot. However, in this moment, he was not thinking of his father. He was thinking of . . . Guinevère. And the fact that he was currently bathing in his room. He was after all, a young man with needs . . . with urges. There was a beautiful woman that he loved currently unclad in his chambers and . . . the temptation was there. Was it so improper to have such thoughts? No. He supposed it was natural. Even if he could not act on them. And so, he would have to part himself from such temptations.
One day, indeed.
In the meanwhile, he went to check on his father, to see what Gaius said about him. It was not a long visit for the king was resting. Arthur spoke briefly to the councilmen, knowing they were awaiting his addressing of the situation. He confirmed it. That he would take the role of acting king. Where he once fought the very idea, considering it treason, he now knew he had to. Perhaps he would never be ready but there was no other choice. He then went to ensure the knights were settled in, that his brothers of heart were all unharmed. He had given them chambers in the castle, and had already explained his decision to the council. He stood by it. They would remain knights.
Deciding enough time had passed, he made his way back to his chambers, eager to spend time with Guinevère. Though the door was opening, he still gave it a light knock -- this being the first time he had ever knocked to the door of his own bedroom. When he stepped inside, he closed it behind him, and a smile spread on his lips when he took in the sight of her in the dress. She looked beautiful, as she always did. But he knew what the dress symbolized. He also knew that her position here was . . . undefined. With Morgana no longer here, and unable to ever reduce her to a mere castle servant, Arthur was well aware that her role was no clear.
But that could be something discussed later. Right now, he just enjoyed the sight of her, seeing the dress and the implied elevated status it granted her. "It fits," he said, unable to help his gaze from lingering over her as he took a few steps towards the woman he loved. He never was good at vocalizing just how beautiful she was, yet nor did he tried to hide or guard his gaze when he felt it. So he hoped what he lacked in words, he made up for in the way he could not pull his gaze from her.

Guinevère had her hands smoothing over her gown when she heard a knock at the door. Her heart jumped slightly from old habits until she turns to see him. Smiling brightly, she walked over toward him. He said it fits, and she had to laugh. Yes. It did. "Very well," she admitted, turning slightly in a circle so he could see it all. "It's beautiful! Thank you!" She loved it! While her pink dress HAD been her favorite, this one was not her favorite! It was wonderful! "It's my favorite!" Because HE had picked it out for her!
Now that she no longer smelled of horse, she wanted to kiss him again--and nothing was stopping her. Stepping closer, her hand went to his chest. "You're not wearing chain mail," she noticed, liking that she could feel him! She had yet to put on shoes, so she stretched up to her toes to kiss him. This kiss, unlike the ones outside, lingered and deepened. It was the kiss of two people in love, who had missed each other dearly. Falling back on her heels, she smiled up at him. "Let's eat," She invited him . . . . to his own table so that they could sit and speak of everything.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur smiled as he watched her spin around so that he could get the full view. "I"m glad you like it," he told her honestly. It wasn't often he was out shopping for women's clothing. But getting this made for her, specially for her, was . . . well, just the start. Now that they could be together, now that they no longer had to hide, he wanted to treat her, spoil her where he could. He felt a sense of honour and pride when she spoke of how it was her favorite, remaining still when she stepped closer and pointed out that he was not wearing chainmail.
"Not today," he told her. Because, he wanted to be casually dressed with her. Comfortable. "Besides, I've been in it for far too long." For the several days they were forced to flee Camelot. Tomorrow, he would have to be acting king. Today, he wished to just be with the people he cared about. To enjoy their company. To rest assured that they were safe and sound. He closed his eyes, breathing into the kiss as he arms wrapped around her, enjoying the lingering touch, the emotion in it, the passionate extent now that they were alone. When she pulled back and spoke of eating, Arthur gave a small nod, motioning to the table as he took the steps towards it, pulling out a chair for her.
"Several of the houses in the city were damaged," Arthur began to explain, wanting her to know part of the reason they were here -- though the main reason was the more, emotional one. "Until they are repaired, you're welcome to remain here." He paused for a moment, realizing his words. "I mean, in the castle. In the guest quarters. You can remain there . . . if you want." Pausing again he made his way to the of the table to make a plate for her.

Her home was damaged?! Guinevère thought of her father for a moment, and wished she could go see. It had been her home with her father, and one of the few memories she had of him. Plus, there was so many fond memories there of other people. Elyan . . . Arthur. She didn't want to leave the room though, so she would eat before going to look at her home, and making a plan to fix it.
"Pity," she teased, but blushed while she said it. "That would be tempting." She was teasing him, with his offer to stay HERE. Though she knew she would return to her home as soon as she could. "And thank you. It will only be until I can repair whatever is done to it. I have . . . fond memories there." She smiled at him, hoping he was thinking of their first kiss too.
"And the citadel? Is there much damage here too?" She asked, having not looked around too much on their way up here. She didn't know what Mogana had done after she left. Morgana's magic could have done anything here. Her men that were loyal to her could have burned the place . . . but it didn't appear to be so.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur couldn't help but smile at her saying how it was tempting. Ah yes. Temptation. He knew that well. It was the very thing he had experienced when knowing she was bathing in his room. So he felt now, was a fitting time to voice the words that had entered his head. "One day," he said with a smile. A reminder of a promise. That when he was king, things would be different. He hoped that his actions upon her return, showed that the day was approaching. For even with his father alive, he was unfit to rule. His presence, no longer an obstacle that he and Guinevère need face. Though even with that in mind, he wished his father was not in such a way. He would not exchange one for the other, yet knew . . . that nothing could be perfect.
His father lived and Arthur had to believe that in time, he would recover. "As do I," he said almost teasingly, though he meant it, as she told him of fond memories. "It would be disappointing if I could not visit anymore," he added on in the same teasing voice. He handed her the plate before making his own. "It still stands," he assured her. "But I did not think you wished to return to the mess after such a long journey away." Not necessarily distance, but the reasons for it. "Nothing that can't be repaired," he told her, taking a seat in his chair, knowing he had to tell her what would happen in the coming days. Or well, he supposed technically starting today. "My father is . . . unwell," he said, his jaw clenching at the reminder of his state. And what had caused it. "I will have to step in, as acting king." And Arthur couldn't even say for certain that it would be until his father recovered for he knew . . . that Uther may never recover.

After seating her, Arthur took a seat as well. Guinevère watched him as she spoke of her home, which thankfully was only a mess he said. He spoke of the castle, which could be repaired. These were easy things to fix, and she knew that she would help in every way she could--but these were not the words she thought of. Not the words that changed everything. They were not the important words that he spoke.
Acting as king.
Yes! While she knew this was hard for him, these were the words that made her want to smile. She regretted that Uther was unwell, but Arthur as king . . . yes! This is what she wanted! This is was the clearly the best way to get him as king, and without him loosing his father! She felt guilty that this excited her, but it did! Yet she didn't smile at him, as the more pressing question was still there. "Are you alright with this?" She asked, reaching for his hand, and forgetting the food. "I've made no secret that I long for you as king. Yet I feared that it would come, as I never wanted you to pay the price." He'd have to loose a father, to be king. "Yet, it seems that something has come out of this." He would be king, in a way!
"You can help the kingdom heal! You can give them the same hope that you have us back at the fallen castle! Camelot has seen Uther rule, and seen Morgana's rule--Now it gets to see you." Moving from her seat she leaned forward to kiss his hand. "I am glad you're father is alive." That he did not have to loose him to get this chance.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Was he alright with this. Her question of concern, asking him how he felt made him softly smile. As well as made his heart swell with emotion; of the love he felt for her. "I don't know if I'm alright with anything that's happened," he said almost as a joke, but it held the weight of truth. "But I know . . . that this is what has to be done." That it was time. That he could not reject the position like he had last time. He had to embrace it. He looked at her, gaze filled with affection as she spoke of the hope that he would bring to the people; that they would now see him rule and . . . that she was glad his father was not dead. He knew that could not be an easy thing to say. And he also knew, that no one had a greater heart than Guinevère, for saying it.
He was well aware of his father's actions, and what they had cost her . . . yet, she spoke of gladness that his father was not dead. It left him staring at her, soft longing in his gaze, adoration and love in his eyes. How, could one be so incredible? How, had he deserved the love of such a woman? He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, her light kiss leaving a warm sensation upon his skin. "I hope to restore the people's faith in the Pendragon name," he began to explain to her. "And to make them feel safe once more." Unlike they had under Morgana's rule. All the damage she had done . . .
"Thank you, Guinevère," he told her sincerely. "I do not know what the future will hold." How long he would remain acting king. How long his father would live. How long until Morgana returned. "But I do know, that this may mark a new era for Camelot." He paused for a moment. "And for us." A smile on his lips, for he knew that in the time to come . . . he would draw strength from her. He would seek her counsel. He would, need her, in ways that he had never thought he'd need anyone. That the day they had long spoken of, and all that time he had made her wait . . . would not be in vain.

Guinevère knew that even if he wasn't saying a lot, he was feeling a lot. "You know I'd have waited for you," She told him, "I am just glad that the change is happening sooner then expected, and without the death of your father." She had felt odd at times, wishing for things to change but knowing it would happen 'over his father's dead body'. Now Arthur could be the one in charge, and without his father dying to make it happen.
Yet, she couldn't help but to wonder what would happen when Uther recovered. Would Arthur have to give him his power back? She didn't want there to be a fight for power, but she didn't want to see Uther back on the throne. "The people love you, they trust you. It will be easy to give them a reason to trust in the Pendragon name. I don't think they ever lost their faith in you. I was here when Morgana was in power--" she didn't say Queen, but as much as she didn't like Uther on the throne, she rather him then Morgana.
"--and they knew you'd come back. . . . you did do it a lot easier then I thought." She admitted, knowing he took a handful of men to get his father out and ended up with a kingdom won. When they spoke of Arthur Pendragon, 50 or 100 years from now it would be of this feat.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur softly smiled when she told him that she would have waited to him. "I know," he assured her in a quiet voice. "And I can't tell you what that means to me." That she would wait for him, despite the uncertainty of when they could actually be together. He understood what she meant of course. He never wanted to look forward to his father dying; he never wished for that. But, even he knew that right now . . . his father was dying. He could see it. The man was broken and his body would not be able to withstand much of this.
Still. Arthur liked to believe that the king was strong and that somehow, they could overcome this. But that did not lessen his confidence when it came to being with Guinevère, or keeping the men of non noble blood knighted. He felt his heart swell with so many different emotions when Guinevère spoke of how the people love him, and trust him . . . how they had believed he could come back. He had taken long, he knew that. A week of hiding out in that cave. But, he had lacked the strength to return. Not only because of his injured leg, but because of his wounded heart, upon discovering Morgana's betrayal. "I'm sorry that you had to endure that for so long," he told her, referring to Morgana's reign. He couldn't imagine what it would have been like after hearing all the stories.
"I just wish, I had come sooner." Perhaps more lives could have been saved. "And I hope . . . the people will continue to feel this way." Love and trust in their soverign. "They deserve a time o of peace, after all they went through." At the hands of his family. There was clear shame in that, and Arthur -- while grateful for Guinevère's words -- knew he had a lot to make up for. He had a feeling that he was not only going to continue to pay for his father's mistakes, but also, for his sister's. Breaking out of these thoughts, he smiled once more, looking at Guinevère. "Everyone did their part. Including you from what Sir Leon tells me," he said teasingly but with truth, for it had been Guinevère who broke Leon out of his cell.

"I love you, I'll always wait for you." She told him, knowing them to be the truest words she ever spoke. He then began talking about the time Morgana was in power. "You came as soon as you could. There was nothing more you could have done if you'd come sooner. Until you had a clear mind, and a good plan . . . . and a handful of men . . . you could do nothing more then wait."
Sir Leon. Yes. Guinevère bit her lip and looked at the door before she looked at Arthur. "He looked very pretty in a dress." She teased him, knowing Arthur would ask about that. Sir Leon, the knight that was his brother and challenger in many ways. A general of sorts sometimes, and a friend all times. "It's how we escaped. They were looking for a tall knight, and so I gave him a purple dress, and two women walked out. They didn't even try to stop us!" She told him with a laugh at how simple it had been! "He was very put out!"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Once again, Arthur felt his heart swell at hearing Guinevère's words. That she loved him enough to wait for an uncertain future. Especially now, when he knew there was another returned from her past . . . yet, her decision to be with him did not waver. It meant more than Arthur could say. That she loved him. "And I love you," he told her, always feeling the need to return the words. To be able to say them so confidently, without fear or uncertainty. Yes. He loved her. More than words could say. She spoke of a clear mind and a plan and he gave a small nod. Though, he still knew he should have tried sooner. And at the same time, lacked the strength in many ways.
He supposed it all came together. They were reunited with Guinevère and Leon . . . Lancelot and Percival came later. Everything was timed so perfectly that perhaps, they were meant to remain there for the time they had. Besides, it let his wound heal without further complications. "Everything came together," he said speaking out loud. "Or, everyone I should say." And that, was what had made the plan successful. That was what saved Camelot; the efforts of every single person at that round table. Arthur chuckled with amusement when she spoke of how Leon looked pretty in a dress, explaining how she had gotten him out of Camelot.
"I must say, you are becoming quite the expert in smuggling dresses," he said with a teasing tone. First, she had taken the two silk dresses when returning from the castle of Fyrien. And now, this: a dress large and long enough to fit Leon. "I can't imagine he looked good in it," Arthur said with the same teasing tone towards his brother of heart. "It was a clever plan," he praised. "And, I'm not sure if I wished I had seen the sight of him in a dress, or am relieved that I didn't," he added on with a continued smile of amusement at the thought of Sir Leon, knight of Camelot . . . in a dress.

"Yes, they came together," she agreed that it was the people and not the plan, "Because they believe in you." She told him, knowing that it was true. Gwaine didn't fight for a kingdom, or a king. He fought for his friend. Merlin fought because he believed in Arthur as a friend and king. Percival didn't know him, but he'd believed in the Prince. Believed in the good Arthur would do. Her brother believed in Arthur as a friend, and knew that one day he would support Arthur as a brother as well. Arthur had fought for Lancelot's right to be a knight long ago, and had Lancelot's loyalty since then. "They came together because of you. They stay for you." Yes, some of them wanted to be knights, but not all of them. They were here for him.
She'd loved seeing her brother as a knight! Watching him ride up to her in the red cape at been one of the most amazing things she'd ever seen. Speaking of amazing things, "You wish you saw it," she teased. Yet she also felt the need to say, "He stayed loyal to your father and you even knowing it would cost him his life." She respected Sir Leon, and after seeing his strength she did so even more. Leon was one of the knights who went to fight the dragon with Arthur, and they had thought died.
