"I did, Sire," Nicolae responded politely, the voice of boasting thankfully no where to be found. The servant had no idea that the Prince was a bit skeptical, for he hadn't recognized the emotion when he looked at him. Nor did it really matter, because Nic did know that he could just as easily find out from his mistress.
"Well. . . yes, I guess you can say that," he replied, with a slightly nervous tone. Nicolae did not want Prince Arthur to think he cared for her in that way, especially because he knew from what Sasha had told him that there was something affectionate, if you will, going on between them. Nic considered it a bit dangerous to even attempt something like that, even if Sasha seemed to like him in some way. And the skeptism he sensed in the Prince's voice deepened his belief of this. "But I couldn't just let an innocent woman die when I very well could have helped her."

The Prince asked how the Lady Sasha had received the wound. Hmmmm. . . what exactly could he say that would not anger him? To. . . explain that it was basically his fault that she had been wounded on the shoulder. Then again, if he hadn't pushed her out of the way something far worse would have happened. "I pushed her out of the way when the dragon breathed it's fire at her, and. . . unfortunately, she was still wounded," the servant explained to Arthur. "We. . . both were."
He could not help but wonder how the Prince would respond to this. Would he blame him for Sasha's wounds, forgetting that it was better than being burnt by a dragon? Or would he be appreciative of his actions? Again, Nicolae did not want to boast. And he was not. It was just. . . most people of royalty were known to be a bit touchy and non-appreciative at times. Which meant Nicolae might be in a bit of trouble in a moment, for 'hurting' a woman of nobility.

Nicolae looked a little more intently at the Prince with his amber eyes. "She has a small cut on her upper arm. Gaius said that it would take about a week or two to heal fully," he answered the Prince. He was not going to mention that he was the one that had rescued Sasha, as it would come out like he were boasting about it. And he just wasn't that type of person. Besides, maybe he had heard from others?
"It's causing her some pain," Nic went on to the Prince, and added with an impressed voice. "But she seems to be handling it very well." And this truly did impress him. When Sasha should have been in great pain from her wounds she instead just dealt with it slowly, trying to show that she was still strong and able. He had never met a woman like her. . . one that seemed as brave as a knight. And that was what impressed him.

Nicolae began walking from Sasha's chambers, intending to go straight back to his house in the lower town. He then saw the Prince walking his way, and giving an attempt to be respectful he turned his amber gaze away. But then the Prince of Camelot came to stand in front of him, forcing Nic to stop. He looked back to the Prince, and hearing his question he was quite quick to answer. He knew that Arthur was very close to Lady Sasha, or at least from she'd told him. "She is well, Sire. Her injury is healing very quickly," he responded to the question. "She's resting now."
It was actually nice to engage in conversation with the Prince, to get to know him better possibly. As if he hadn't heard enough about him from Sasha. What he didn't understand was how she could be so fond of the King's son. Nicolae couldn't expect her to see the royal family like he did, but it was the Prince's father who had killed so many of his kind. Upon coming to Camelot, he had stopped practicing magic and hadn't done so for long time. But the point was, he was willing to 'give the Prince a chance'. But just for Sasha.

It had been a few days after the dragon had attacked Camelot during the night. He had only arrived that day, under permission of the Lady Sasha Tiberius. Nic could not put his finger on why, but despite being total strangers to each other they had quickly become friends. Since he had no real rank in the castle he had offered to help out with servant duties. The night the dragon attacked was something very similar to a horrible nightmare, if not the same thing. . . only a reality. It was very fortunate he had arrived in Camelot when he did, for no one would have been able to save the Lady Sasha’s life when it was needed. It had been him to have pushed her into safety when the dragon breathed its’ fire. Luckily he had not been burned, but even if he had been it wouldn’t have been major.
After the dragon had left the castle in ruins, he had been acknowledged for his works by saving the Lady Sasha. She owed her life to him, and he knew that alone took their friendship to another level. Surprisingly, he had been made Sasha’s servant and had been so past few days. He had yet to properly greet the Prince, but hopefully sometime soon. Right now he was bringing the newly clean and dry clothes to his mistress, walking through one of the hallways. He entered her chambers and gave them to her, and while he was there willingly made her bed. She dismissed him, and so he left her chambers. It was already near evening, and he would have the rest of the night to himself.

| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name of Character:. Nicolae Rei Jacob
.:Nick Name:. Nic, Rei, Shady Servant (by Arthur)
.:Age:. 27
.:Race:. Sorcerer
.:Status:. Servant
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:.
Nicolae is very slim, something frequently expected of an constantly traveling nomad. With that, he would obviously be a quick runner. And he is. Especially when the adrenaline starts flowing through his blood, as it would anyone really. Nicolae wears casual themed clothing, and snake skin pants that he made for himself. Made by a man, they are without a doubt poorly made.
But it suits his needs, and that is really all he cares about. His shirt is just another average light brown sewn outfit. It is very much, if not the same, as a peasant would wear. He may also wear a coat over it in winter, and most of fall to keep warm. He can very easily get sick, but only in cold seasons. He's almost never sick during spring and summer.
Nicolae has wavy medium brown hair, blazing amber eyes, and a few scars. He received a tiny scar down his left eye brow while being caught off guard by a wolf. He killed it instantly, but it did not prevent it from leaving a mark. He considers it a shameful scar, for he should have more aware of his surroundings at the time.
His grandmother gave him a scar across the right palm of his hand, to spill some of his blood in dedication to protecting the druids. He hasn't exactly stayed true to that promise, you might say. . .
.:Height:. 6'1"
.:Portrayed by:. Justin Long
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:.
Nicolae is very different from many others. He's tends to be the cruel one every now and then. Whether he's drunk or in his right mind, he can also be slightly crude with his humor. Despite his disturbing past, he never usually tends to drink -- if you know what I mean -- over it. It happens, however, but not often.
On the other hand, Nicolae can be a very chivalrous and caring man. He is over protective of woman and his so few loved ones, and so few friends. He has mood swings constantly; one minute he's happy and blissful, the next he's depressed and enraged. Whenever he hears the name Uther, he will beyond a doubt become agitated. He could never dislike anyone or anything more than he does the King.
Also, whenever he gets the chance to be with his sister he's very happy and this is the only time when mood swings will not normally effect him.
.:Strengths:.
- Skilled with a sword
- Skilled with control of fire
- Good at thievery
.:Weaknesses:.
- Looks at women. Like, really looks.
- Has mood swings
- He can be such a girl sometimes. Rare.
.:Magic Abilities:. Nope.
.:Special Skills:. None that he has developed yet.
.:Accents:. Irish
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Kingdom of Caerleon
.:Family:.
- John Alwyn Jacob - Father (deceased)
- Delilah Afanen Kastus - Mother (alive)
- Sasha Aerona Tiberius - Half-sister (alive)
.:Occupation:. Servant
.:Current Location of Residence:. Kingdom of Camelot
.:History:.
His place of birth is the Kingdom of Caerleon. Nicolae Rei Jacob is the illegitimate son of Delilah and John. Both parents were magic users, and not of nobility. However, Nicolae has not inherited this skill. He can only practice magic and hope it works. He is not a natural sorcerer. Once Nicolae's mother found out she was going to have a child, she told John and they agreed to marry. Therefore, Nicolae was born in the summer. Only a year after that, his father had an affair with another woman, and so Delilah killed him with her magic.
This, of course, was a five years before the Great Purge brought upon the land by Uther. Otherwise, his mother would never have openly used her magic. After that, his mother was disgusted by her husband's betrayal, and therefore started to dislike Nicolae for being the son of John. Delilah abandoned him in the care of his grandmother, who is also a witch.
He was raised by her, developing quite a nice relationship with the woman. His grandmother taught him everything he knows about magic, and in fact spilled a few droplets of his blood as a promise to the druids. A promise that would mark his alliance with the druids. Nicolae has not stayed true to his promise to protect them. He became aware of of the Great Purge at the age of five but hardly understood it.
When he was old enough, he left his home in Caerleon and became a traveler. That was when his days as a thief began. He stole many things. Nicolae unfortunately became a member of Hougen's -- a murderous and cruel bandit chief -- clan, half under force. He had been given a choice, whether to join Hougen's clan or die like most of the other villagers of the town he had been staying in had. He had chosen to join, only assuming that it couldn't be a horrible life.
He had been wrong. Nicolae had seen nothing like it; in fact, he was disgusted at what Hougen and his men did and practically forced him to do. He had been forced to kidnap the Princess of Mercia s that Hougen could hold her for ransom. When the bandit camp was raided by Mercian Knights, the bandits fought back. In the end, Hougen threatened to kill the princess if the Knights continued to kill his men. Hougen was eventually killed and the rest of his men escaped from the camp, all except Nicolae.
He did something very non-masculine; he begged for his life as the knights were about to kill him, insisting that he had only been following orders that Hougen had forced him to do. That he would have been killed if he disobeyed them. Surprising to him, they spared him and he was just able to make a run for his horse and leave the bandit camp forever. Nicolae traveled the kingdoms in those next few years, grateful that he had been spared. The world seemed like to much of beautiful place for him to die just yet. One day, he arrived at Camelot. There, he became his half sister's servant. Though as of now, neither of them know they're related.
