The bandits were only growing closer and Elsa wasn't fast enough to outrun them. Despite being a working class young woman and in rather good shape -- and even with her long legs -- they were still faster than she was. She wasn't paying much attention to where she was going, so long as she was heading towards Camelot, and as such didn't see the torchlight ahead or Arthur's silhouette against the swiftly darkening sky.
And so it was with a gasp of surprise and wide eyes that the young woman ran into him, staring up at him in fear. At first she thought he was one of the bandits, but then she realized that he was wearing chainmail and the crest of Camelot. She breathed a sigh of relief and then glanced back in the direction she'd come from. She was out of breath and scared, but there was a knight of Camelot here now! That meant she at least had a decent chance of survival. She'd almost given up before running into him.
"Bandits..." Elsa managed to say, sounding as breathless as she felt and holding the cape tightly around her. "Kidnapped me and I escaped to get back to Camelot... It's not safe at night." Then the men came crashing through the trees and bushes and she jumped, instantly moving behind Arthur for protection and tugging the cape even closer. She hated feeling helpless, but violence and self-defense were not was she was good at.

As soon as the door opened, Elsa's humming quieted and she straightened up from leaning against the wall. She was much taller than Guinevère, but she'd come to expect that in her years of height. At the other's words, she nodded and gave her a small, hesitant smile. "Yes, I'm Elsa de la Noue," she replied, bowing her head a bit in greeting. "I haven't been waiting long at all; I only just arrived a few moments ago. It's nice to meet you."
The sight of Guinevère made her instantly feel more comfortable. The other woman just gave off a kindly vibe, something that caused Elsa to relax a bit. If her first day was in Guinevère's hands, then she was certain to be alright. Elsa wasn't sure how she knew that, but the woman just made her feel that way. It was an almost... motherly aura. "So you're the king's aide?" she asked, trying to be conversational. "How do you like it? The job seems like it'd be... taxing." Elsa frowned. "I think that I would be saddened by the constant reminder of his current state."

Elsa hadn't even really started to look for a job in the castle before Prince Arthur gave her one. It had been complete chance that he'd been the one to save her from the bandits and dorocha, and as they'd been traveling back to Camelot, he learned of her search for employment and happily offered her a position as a servant in the castle. She'd been surprised; of course, she'd heard of the prince's kind and honorable nature, but it had been a shock to experience it firsthand.
Quickly afterwards, she was informing her parents of her new job and then starting at the castle. It was her first day now as a servant and she was nervous. She had never done any work outside of the bakery -- she knew how to do the things a servant was meant to, of course, but she was still a bit scared -- and it was intimidating to be in the constant presence of royalty.
When she arrived, dressed in a simple pale green homemade gown, Elsa was directed by another servant down towards the King's chambers, where someone else was supposed to be showing her the ropes and giving her a tour of the castle. The servant had explained that it was Guinevère who Elsa was to meet, the personal caretaker to Uther. She had heard of Guinevère: the young woman was kind, sweet, and in love with the prince. It seemed that the prince returned her feelings, but these were only rumors, of course. She had no evidence to believe they were true or not.
As Elsa reached the doors to Uther's chambers, she stood back, leaning against the wall opposite, to wait for Guinevère to come outside. She didn't want to interrupt the servant while she was doing her job and she certainly wasn't about to knock on the door of the King openly like she was comfortable in the castle! That was absurd! Absently, Elsa began to hum a self-written tune as she waited, not even really realizing that she was doing so.

It really hadn't been a smart idea to go for a walk in the forest that day. First of all, it hadn't really been necessary for Elsa to leave the safety of Camelot, and second, it was dangerous in the woods. Bandits seemed to enjoy wandering around and ambushing unsuspecting passersby. Elsa should have known not to head into the trees alone that afternoon, but of course, she had not really thought about the consequences until after she was already far past the tree line and into the greenery.
The young woman could have turned back then and probably avoided all the unlucky events that would soon occur, but she figured that she was already partway through her walk anyway, so she might as well continue onwards. That decision was her ultimate mistake, as not a quarter of an hour later she heard a rustling in the bushes and glanced up curiously. No one was there and she couldn't see any animals, but she walked cautiously a few steps forward. That was when someone suddenly jumped in front of her and she shrieked in surprise. A masculine covered her mouth and she struggled against his hold, another man coming up behind her to grab her wrists. She wasn't exactly certain what they wanted with her -- she was a servant girl, without any valuables whatsoever on her -- but she knew that she did not want to be at their mercy.
They tied her hands behind her back and gagged her with a piece of dirty cloth before dragging her to their camp. They didn't tell her any reasons as to why they'd kidnapped her, but she didn't really care what their reasoning was; she just wanted to get away. As soon as the sun began to set and the bandits were cooking their dinner, Elsa realized that she needed to get free as quickly as possible; Camelot was still under attack of the dorochas and that included the forests. She certainly did not want to die any time soon.
Luckily, once they'd reached the camp earlier, the bandits had tied her to a tree, her arms spread wide, with the rope ends bound at her wrists. She was able to shift and rub the bindings against the rough bark of the tree and it was only minutes later that the rope broke from the fraying. With a triumphant smile, Elsa hiked up her skirts and sprinted in the direction of Camelot.
Moments later, she heard the bandits cry out as they realized she had gotten free and Elsa panicked, trying to move faster. She needed to get back to Camelot and find somewhere safe to hide for the night, and being with the ignorant bandits was definitely not safe.

| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name of Character:. Elsa de la Noue .:Nick Name:. Elsie, Els .:Age:. 19 .:Race:. Camelotian .:Status:. Servant
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Elsa is very tall for a woman, which she doesn't like very much. Her hair is long and very curly; it has more volume than is probably necessary and tends to frame her face in a manner similar to a lion's mane. It's easy to spot her in a crowd because of her height and hair. She also is tanner than nobility would be because of having to work for a living. Despite having long legs and being rather attractive, Elsa is not very popular among the men of Camelot due mainly to her height. Women who are as tall as the men are not very well-appreciated. She usually wears homemade dresses of muted, quiet colors so as not to attract attention. She also often uses a scarf to hold her hair back while she works. .:Height:. 5' 9" .:Portrayed by:. Tamsin Egerton
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Elsa was always taller than average, which probably was what caused her low self-esteem. She is a bit shy, but not afraid; she's more embarrassed than anything else. She is worried that due to her height, she won't marry or have children, and she does not want that to look forward to in her life. However, there isn't much she's able to do with her current status and looks, so she does her best with what she has.
She is very friendly and accepting and always sees the good in people. She has been hurt many times because of this trusting nature of hers, but she has never grown cold or bitter. She may be shy and quiet, but she is always willing to talk and help people out if she is able. This especially includes children, as she would do anything to help kids, even if it was at her own expense.
Of course, Elsa is a very talented singer. Her voice is not traditionally beautiful, as it's lower than most females', but it is still enchanting to listen to. She can often be found humming or singing quietly to herself when out alone, but when in the company of those she trusts Elsa is much louder with her singing. Along with this, she tends to dance with her voice. However, she usually only dances when she is alone or with her family; she isn't as confident in her dancing as she is in her singing. .:Strengths:. ~singing: Elsa has a wonderful singing voice, but she doesn't often sing in front of people. She can be a bit shy and intimidated.
~friendly: she is always willing to make friends and learn more about people, no matter who they might be.
~easily accepting: she tends to believe that everyone has good in them somewhere, despite their outward appearance.
~quiet: in Camelot in these times, being quieter and keeping to yourself and your own life seems to be more of a strength than anything else. .:Weaknesses:. ~trusting: Elsa tends to be much too trusting. She gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, despite the evidence against them, and this tends to lead to her getting burned.
~height: she is much taller than most women and this can be a bit embarrassing. She's even taller than some men! It doesn't work very well when she wants to settle down soon.
~children: Elsa is instantly drawn to kids. She adores them and would do anything for them. .:Magic Abilities:. none whatsoever .:Special Skills:. ~beautiful singing voice: her voice is throaty and lower than average, but entrancing.
~good dancer: she isn't the best, but she's certainly more talented than some.
~efficient worker: she can get the job done in a decent amount of time. .:Accents:. lower class English, but her voice is low and throaty compared to most women
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Camelot .:Family:. ~father: Ambroise de la Noue ~mother: Beatrice de la Noue ~younger brother: Kendrick de la Noue .:Occupation:. future servant in the castle .:Current Location of Residence:. Camelot .:History:. Elsa de la Noue was born to Ambroise and Beatrice just after the start of the Great Purge. It was a terrifying time, but the couple managed to be happy about the successful birth and raised Elsa to be as loved as possible. Ambroise was a baker; he specialized in varied kinds of breads and his food was well-liked. Beatrice helped her husband in his trade and as such, Elsa grew up surrounded by wheat, flour, and the smell of freshly-baked bread.
It was obvious from an early age that Elsa would be a talented singer. As a little girl, she loved to sing around the bakery, usually just nonsense tunes and words. As she grew older, however, she began to make up her own songs and her parents noticed that they were actually very good. By the time Elsa was nine, she was making her own songs and ballads that told actual stories and spoke of real emotions and experiences.
When Elsa was three, her younger brother Kendrick was born. He was small and sickly, so Beatrice spent much of her time taking care of him. In order to continue to earn money, Elsa helped her father in the bakery, taking her mother's place. Luckily, Kendrick grew healthier with time, but he was still frail. He was unable to help much in the bakery until he was almost twelve, and even then he wasn't able to do much. He spent most of his time in the back, reading the few books he was able to gain access to and occasionally kneading dough. Elsa continued to work with her parents, making and selling bread, until her brother was able to take over her job.
Once Kendrick was strong enough to take her place in the bakery, Elsa decided that it was time to get herself a job outside of the family business. She had heard that the castle was looking for more servants and so she told her parents her plans. While they were sad she didn't want to continue baking, they accepted her decision and were glad that she hadn't chosen to find work outside of Camelot. At least this way she would still be at home most days.
