She had finally been captured. After a last desperate attempt at plotting the death of the now King and Queen, Morgana found herself a prisoner at Arthur's mercy. She would not beg, she would not even acknowledge him. The priestess was almost certain that his marrying Guinevère had somehow brought about her loss of powers... how, she had no idea. But it must have done, for there was no other explanation for it. All those years, all this time, whilst she had been trying to kill Arthur... she now realised, she should have been trying to kill his wife. And with her powers, it would have been so, so easy.
But the once Ward would not admit that she was weak, or vunerable. No, no. She was biding her time. To do what, exactly, was another matter, but just because she had lost her powers did not mean that she had lost her wits, her cunning, or her charm. There were many ways to ploy Arthur Pendragon and his maid-turned-Queen. After all, she'd been doing it for nearly a year before she had attempted her first takeover of the Kingdom, hadn't she?
So Morgana's head rose, and she gave the King a deliberate sneer of a smile, then her eyes turned to his wife, who stood nearby, her belly large and round with the promise of a child. "I would not count the days for your child to be born, Guinevère," she spoke, her voice low, but with a slight edge of teasing to it. If there was one way to scare someone like Guinevère, someone who longed for a family of her own, it was to threaten the life that grew inside her. "Many things can happen in the time it will take for you to give birth... if indeed, you ever do."

The Prince's words were rightfully put and yet Morgana trembled before the man she thought she knew so well as he turned away from her, desperate for him to understand, though little by little she was beginning to see herself more and more through his eyes, like a snake in the grass. "I did not think," she confessed, "I..." but what use was it telling him this? Would he not just turn her aside and scoff once more at her words? No, Arthur wasn't dismissing them, he was simply putting it into persepctive.
People had died for her absence. Arthur himself had probably been searching continuously and relentlessly for her. People had been... worried for her. Honestly, Morgana had not believed so many would care for her. Not that she would say so out loud - she did not have a death wish, though Arthur's words were making her consider the thought. The ward swallowed, trembling as Arthur continued his words, tears appearing in her green eyes as she lowered her head, unsure what she could do.
"I have nothing to say for myself, no words to change the past," she whispered quietly, for she was not going to insult him with lies or the truth, which might be even worse. "But to satisfy the people, to repay them, and you, if you wish, I will tell your father the truth... and face the consequences." She swallowed, raising her eyes to meet Arthur's, hoping he would look at her. " I hope one day... if you cannot forgive me, you will at least learn to understand."

There was nothing more that could drive Morgana to tears than the disappointed tone of her brother-of-heart's voice. To know she had failed him in this way broke her very soul, and the brunette bowed her head a little, ashamed to look at the man she thought of as family, despite there being no blood tie there. "I wish I had also," she whispered quietly, in return to his words. "I wanted to protect you, I... thought it was for the best..." Words, all words. Would he ever trust her again? She meant everything she said, but... after such a betrayal, would he truly believe her? She would not exactly blame him if he did not.
"What's done is done," She repeated quietly, then looked up as he stated that she must be freed. The brunette swallowed. "Arthur..." She hesitated, biting her lip, taking a slow breath. "You cannot take such a risk for me..." Was there any point in trying to pursuade him? Was there any point in trying to ask her brother-of-heart ot simply let his father deal out the punishment they were both evidently sure he would pass upon her? She suspected not. But then he asked whether anyoen else had known, and the brunette shook her head, raising it a little to meet his eyes, her own open and honest. "No one." she whispered, wondering if he would at last realise how lonely it had been, to hold this great secret, this... burden. How much she had wished for someone to know, to understand, or if not to understand, then at least as a comforting shoulder. But if she had allowed it, if she had trusted him, then Arthur would have been that shoulder.... but trusting him with such a thing had not been something Morgana had allowed herself to do, not knowing what his view would be.
She swallowed as he spoke of sending her away, biting her lip. "You will risk yourself if you try to help me," she stated quietly. "If your father plans for my execution, then someone setting me free would not be recieved well by him." she bit her lip. "I do not want anyone else to suffer...."

The brunette managed a thin smile at Arthur's words. He was trying so hard to make her believe she was going to pull through, that, like countless other times they had been in trouble, they would return to Camelot together, eventually alright... but she knew how hopeless her situation was. Arthur might still return, but she.... no. The Ward's time was coming to a close, for she could feel it in her very soul. Each part of her was beginning to shut down, slowly, like a clock run out of wheel, or like a horse pulled too far that decides it cannot pull any longer. "No one can predecide their fates," she whispered in response to the blonde's words.
The brunette paused, to take a breath, gathering her words in her mind before opening her eyes, to focus on the young Prince. "You must... promise me something," she whispered. There was no time to wonder what he might think of what she was about to ask him, or any assumptions he might make... for too much had already been assumed, and it was time for the facades to end. "You.... be happy. Be with... with Gwen. She... loves you, and ...." she cut off as the cart moved over another bump, her body shaking a little with the pain of the action.
After a few sharply inhaled breaths, Morgana let her head rest back into Arthur's embrace, her body still shaking weakly. "No mortal's time... lasts forever," she whispered quietly, as a remindrance to both of them. "Arthur... you must..." she swallowed, closing her eyes, her voice beginning to fade a little. "Promise me..."

The Prince's anger was something she had expected, but his increduality was not. Morgana swallowed, closing her eyes briefly as he spoke of the carnage that Uther had wrought upon his own people whilst she had been gone, and though she opened her mouth several times to interrupt, she did not, for her brother-of-hearts words were rightfully heated.
The ward of Uther Pendragon stood, biting her lip, and gently reached forward, to place a hand upon the blonde's shoulder. If he withdrew, she would not try again, bu she needed to make him understand. "Arthur," she spoke quietly. "I did not know the terror Uther would cause by my leaving, or I would have never gone. I swear to you," she swallowed. "ButI was desperate for answers, I was so frightened, and I...." Morgana took a breath, biting her lip. "I meant... to return after a week. But... I... felt safe there. Content. But then I heard of what was happening here, and I made my way home, as soon as I could." She tried to meet his eyes, to get him to see the sincerity in her words.
"Arthur, please.... please believe me."

The Priestess turned to Nimeuh, her right eyebrow slightly raised. Anyone who had known her well once; Arthur, Uther, perhaps even Guinevère, would have sensed the bubbling anger that was shifting inside of her, at this woman's pompousness, at her utter disrespect for the woman who had brought her back from her grave. "you will do well not to irk me, Nimeuh." Stated the brunette. "You might have once had control and power, but those times have gone. You are not whom you used to be, and I can see that clearer than the stars that shine in the night. I warn you now, not to treat me with indifference. I am no man's mistress, nor no witch's plaything."
Morgana narrowed her eyes as she weatched Nimeuh begin to walk away. This insult could not go unchallanged; for if she did not say something or do something now, then Nimeuh would forever more belive she was in control. Thus, the brunette raised her hand, speaking a soft word of magic, causing fire to leap across the path Nimeuh had been about to travel, cutting across her access. "Do. Not. Underestimate. Me." Stated the brunette calmly, her hand still raised.

Morgana chuckled softly as Nimeuh remarked on her powers, and shook her head. "I would not belittle your friends, Nimeuh," she warned quietly. "I am no child, and I will not be won by whim or desire."
After Morgause was buried, the Priestess turned to her new friend, taking a slow breath. "I think, my friend, it is time for you to get new clothes, then perhaps you may feel more like your old self," she paused, grasping Nimeuh's shoulder. "I warn you now; if you cross me, or turn against me, you will woe the day I brought you back from death," It might be presumptuous, and even dangerous, to threaten a Priestess; but beter to do it now, whilst Nimeuh was still weak enough to be confused, rather than she was back at full power.

The Queen laughed outright at Yassia's clear horror and hatred of her. Oh, this was glorious! And to think, all it took to rile the woman was a few words! And this woman, this she-hussy, was to eventually be some sort of Queen? Ha! Morgana pursed her lips together, to avoid the urge to laugh again, her eyes still twinkling with amusement. "I see that calling you out enrages you," she teased. "Perhaps you had hoped you were more sly than you are. But I have seen you flaunt yourself, Yassia. You have gandered more times than I can count at Arthur; not that I blame you, for he is fair of face indeed; among others. You and Guinevère would be well matched as sisters, for you are both easy to switch your heart's wantings." she smirked. "Or perhaps I should say, your body's wantings."
"You know nothing of my life here," she hissed, all humour now gone. "Do not act as though you do, for you do not! And you never shall. Your place is on the sty of your people, and that is all you will ever know, Yassia."
The brunette raised an eyebrow as Yassia suggested she be allowed to converse with her uncle, and Morgana frowned, trying to figure out the implications of such a request. "Why would you do such a thing?" she asked softly, her voice that of the woman she had once been, as she hoped to sway Yassia to her will. "You have just told me you would fight me with every breath; so why would you do this for me? Why would you ask your uncle to do this?"
NRP: I am SO sorry this took me so long to get to.

Morgana nodded as the Priestess attempted to reassure her. "I hope I will not," she stated softly - she would not blind Nimeuh with falsities. If they were to be allies, let them first earn trust through truthfulness. "My sister spoke of you in high regard. I trust she had reasons for doing so, and I can see some of those reasons already. Others might yet become clear to me." She paused to listen to the woman's words of her gift, finding it interesting to learn more of Nimeuh's powers. "I am learning to use these visions to my gain," she stated softly. "For years I had been told to ignore them, and to proceed regardless, but now... now I can embrace them fully. Sometimes though, my ears and eyes still close to the threats, and later I find myself wishing I had heeded them more seriously."
Morgana msiled softly as Nimeuh spoke of Morgause, nodding softly. "Her element was Earth," she spoke softly. "She confided in me once and I have never forgotten it," The Witch shuddered briefly at the idea of burying her sister, and leaving her in the cold ground. "It seems wrong to give her such a small thanks for her sacrifice," she murmured softly. The brunette looked up, nodding in response to Nimeuh's words. "Yes," she agreed softly. "This place has spent too long shrouded in darkness. It is a shadow of its former self, and we should bring it back to its right place; give it reason to be called what it is," she smild softly.

Yassia's words might be meant to placiatate the Queen, but it only served to enrage the brunette even more. "you know nothing of what you speak!" she hissed, her whole body trembling with anger. "Who are you to tell me of respect, when you are nothing but a she-dog for the taking?!" Morgana laughed bitterly. "I had Camelot's love! I had the love and respect of every member of court, including the King and Arthur! But the minute that they realised whom I was, they would have pushed me aside! And of course there was Uther's secret - for he was so determined to hide the truth he would not admit it either to me or Arthur! We two who he professed to love so very dearly! But always, Arthur was foremost in his thoughts and heart. As with the people, it was always Arthur. Arthur the glorious Pendragon Prince, Arthur the hope of Camelot, Arthur the Golden one," The once-Ward laughed bitterly.
"Lets see how glorious he is when he is beant before me, licking his own blood off the floor." Angrily, Morgana moved over to a nearby guard, grabbing ahold of the dagger that sat in his belt, aiming and throwing it near Yassia's head, only just missing and managing to hit the Pendragon crest that still hang proudly upon the wall opposite. "Damn him! Damn Arthur and his father to hell!"
She clenched her fists, glaring down at the panicked woman before her. Taking a few deep breaths, Morgana forced herself to calm, if not just enough to speak with some sort of authority. "What will you give me?" The Queen demanded. "If I were to respite, and to adhere to your pleas, what would you give me in return? I want only peace, Yassia, and it would please me to have you as a friend rather than an enemy. But you must undersatnd that I require something in return for something. So what will you give me?"

Morgana watched with motherly affection as the boy drakn his fill of the soup, revelling in this feeling of being... liked by someone. Of not having to plot, to plan, to simply sustain herself. In Mordred's eyes, she was worthy of respect, of dillagence. As he asked if he could enquire something, the brunette gave him a soft smile. "Of course," she promised softly. "Mordred, you have full permission to speak freely with me, regarding any matter." If he had ever needed permission at all.
She smiled a little as he spoke of having a home. "I am afraid this is not exactly what one might call a home, but you are more than welcome to stay here as long as you wish," assured Morgana. She sighed at his mention of bad fortune, shaking her head. "I fear I bring enough of that upon myself, Mordred. Therefore whatever you might bring does not shake my thoughts - you are welcome here, as long as you wish to be here."

Some secret part of Morgana that she would not acknowledge envied Yassia. Envied the strength she seemed to have, whilst she, Morgana, consistantly failed about, trying to make sense of the pieces of her past that had been handed to her. How the other woman was still so defiant after everything, the Queen did not know, but it enraged her. She narrowed her eyes as teh woman spoke of dreams, giving a bitter laugh. "You know nothing of what I dream, Yassia, so do not pretend otherwise," she spat. "All I wish is for the people to love me, and for magic to be allowed and celebrated within Camelot once more... is that so entirely wrong?"
The woman's fear made her more sure of herself, and Morgana smiled despite her earlier hesitance. "You forget, Yassia, that I can do anything. I am Queen. I control Camelot now, and I *will* have your allegance. If you do not wish to be treated like a free lady, then that is your choice, but I will do what I must to gain what I must. Including throwing you to whatever I feel is necessary."

Morgana nodded softly. "I agree. This is not the best place for such conversation, and I am sure you would rather... be more certain of yourself in such a conversation." she hoped her words would not insult the Priestess, but she had merely meant the confusion would be somewhat... gone, hopefully. She nodded as the woman spoke of Arthur, agreeing wholly. "Sadly, you are right. It seems he is doomed to repeat his father's mistakes, which is sad. Together, if he had been of the right mind, he and I could have made Camelot undesputable."
Her interest perked when Nimeuh spoke of her visions. "Do you... own such a gift?" she asked softly, though 'own' was not the word for it. However, she could not think of a better one. "I do not think I can ever welcome such gifts," she admitted. "for the dreams I have are always terrifying, and either have cited Arthur's doom or my own. How can one learn to welcome such things?"
She sighed quietly as the Priestess spoke of Morgause, and she shook her head. "If you'll forgive me, I do not think we should speak of such things here," not with her sister still warm in her arms. "If we could... bury my sister, and then leave this place, perhaps after you are more... stable here... we can talk, but after everything, here does not seem the right place for such a conversation."

Morgana laughed a little, though she made sure it was quiet, as he suggested they both leave. "And leave you here?" she hissed softly. "Never. Besides, we both know you get upset if you don't get your daily bath, Arthur." The teasing the words would normally held were somewhat lost in the urgency of the moment. "Guinevère is right, we are here to rescue you," she stated quietly.
Looking about, Morgana wondered briefly where the rest of Arthur's party was. She was fairly certain he had left with more men. Had they all been killed? Or were they hiding somewhere, waiting for the oppertune moment? She wanted to ask, but time was precious, and if the prior answer was right, she didn't want to upset Arthur by forcing him to admit such a thing. Not here, not now.
She shook her head, glancing about. "Which of these morons hold the keys?" she asked softly, although she was fairly certain that it wouldn't be so easy to free the young Prince.

"Morgause told me that you knew him personally," stated the brunette softly. "But she did not elaborate. I would like to hear your story sometime, if you would not mind." she hesitated. "He barely spoke of Igraine, not to me nor to Arthur. In fact it was as though she never existed most times. Though I think Arthur has more of her in him than he does of his father. He must do, for their tempriments are so different."
She turned to Nimeuh, as the woman spoke of being a seer, and her dreams being a burden. "No one has ever fully explained my dreams to me," she admitted. "I would like to know more. I know that I cannot control when they come, for even Gaius' potions when I was Uther's ward did nothing to stop them. But I would like to understand them."
Morgana smiled at the information the Priestess offered up about her sister, for it did not surprise her. "She always had a fighting spirit," she confessed. "And yet sometimes..." she hesitated, feeling as though somehow she were betraying her half sister, yet she was too curious not to continue. "...sometimes it feels as though... I was too much under her command. There were thoughts and deeds that ... I would not have chosen without her guidence."
