Despite her hatred for Uther, her love for Arthur still remained. He was still her brother - he had done nothing wrong, and this attack was completely unwarrented. Morgana's anger toward Odin was real and tangient as she viewed the fallen men, knowing exactly what had happened. As she pulled the clothes on, the brunette's mind wondered toward her brother, wondering if he were alright, and how easy it would be to save him from whatever Odin was doing to him.
She would not let herself wonder if it was too late... there was no way it could be too late. Arthur was stubborn, pigheaded, and a complete and utter... brat, at times. He would not let a man like Odin get to him so easily, of that she was sure! He would not give in so quickly. The ward pulled her hair back, twisting it so it would fit into the cap she had stolen, following Gwen's lead on that one, making a face at how dirty these clothes were. She quickly shrugged it off, though -there were more important things to worry about. Arthur was in trouble, and possibly ... no. She would not consider that eventually. If he allowed any harm to come to himself, she would murder him.
As they neared the cage, Morgana knelt down, picking up the sword that lay next to one of the sleeping guards, turning to Gwen. "you must be ready," she stated in an almost whisper, passing her the sword. She herself had one of her own tucked already into the strap of her clothing - as a rule of being a Pendragon's ward, she had learned to always carry such a thing around. It was times like this that she was grateful for such initiative. As they reached the cage, Morgana stepped forward, pressing a hand to one of the bars. "Arthur?" she called in a low voice, praying he did not startle and alert anyone. He looked worn, tired, which worried the ward. He was stronger than most people might know, so for him to be looking like this... what had they put him through?
Morgana shook her head, clearing the thoughts, makign her voice a little louder as she once again called his name, making sure to keep her voice low "Arthur?"

Morgana chuckled at the panic in Caitrin's voice as she held the baby. Really, she wasn't sure she would actually be able to cause harm to such a tiny baby, but... well, it was fun scaring the mother like this. "I wonder," mused Morgana. "What this child would think, if he knew that his mother was a lying slut who cared nothing for anyone but herself?" She turned to face Caitrin. "For truly, you must not care very much if you still lie to me."
She smiled as the woman pleaded again. "I will give him back to you," she stated, watching as Caitrin stood in front of the crib that held her other child. "... when you tell me where my halfbrother is, and deliver him into my hands. Do not act the innocent, Caitrin. We both know you know more of Arthur than you say. Do you wish for your child to grow thinking you did not care enough for him to tell the truth to the Queen of Camelot?" the Queen walked over to the window, pausing as she held the child. "It is a long drop indeed from here to there. I wonder... would he survive?"

Thank you, Dora! That is so sweet of you to say I was listening to the song the other day, and just couldn't get Arthur and his father out of my head (Merlin has taken over my brain, it seems!!!). I'm so glad you like the video!!

Morgana sighed as the blonde immediately dismissed her idea - she had to admit she was a little glad, however selfish that might seem. She listened to Arthur's reasoning, nodding softly in agreement as he spoke. He was right, of course. Uther's temper and the probibility of war would only strengthen if he walked in on her and the Prince. And ... if he and Arthur were some how late... then they might have a much bigger problem on their hands. "you're right," she agreed quietly.
She smiled a little as Arthur spoke of being diplomatic to avoid war, once again amazed at how maturely the young Pendragon was handling this. She had half expected him to fly into a rage and offer to kill the offending Prince, but no. He was being delicate, he was being practicle, and at the same time he was not making her feel as though she were worthless. As he squeezed her hands and then spoke to her of being by her side to face this problem, Morgana looked up, meeting his eyes. "I am so lucky to have you as a brother," she stated, knowing he knew she would mean a brother of heart, and not a true brother, although if such a thing had happened then it would not exactly be a burden or a bad thing.

The Pendragon's anger was tangiable, but she could not understand it's reasoning. Even as Arthur spoke, Morgana trembled, watching him as he spoke of her daring to speak of what had been between them, He then accused her of bringing this fate to her own hands, and the brunette stared at the man she had thought she had known. "What have I done?" she asked, desperate to understand. "Why do you treat me so? Why do you accuse me of such things?"
His clear anger toward her was heartbreaking. Especially as she did not know its reasoning. Surely, if she had done something wrong, she should have known what it was? But as she tried to remember as far back as she could, nothing came to mind. The brunette stared at the man she called brother, her body trembling a little. The bang of a door somewhere nearby caused her body to jerk in shock, and the ward swallowed, biting her lip. "Please Arthur," she whispered, the tears now falling free. "For the love you once bore me, if you do not still, please... please help me!" She was not below pleading for her life, especially not from him.
Before she could say anymore, though a man strolled over to the cage. "My lord," he greeted Arthur, bowing a little. "I thought you might appreciate my latest prize. Found her wonderin' around the forest. Knew what someone like this was worth, thought you'd be happy to have her in the dungeons," He grinned at the Pendragon. "Wasn't sure what you'd want us t'do with her."

As the man she called brother tried to assure her that everything would be alright, the brunette managed a soft smile. "I thank you for your words," she stated quietly. "But I fear that nothing will be alright. The minute your father finds out I shall be lucky to see the light of day again," And though Arthur might yet again accuse her of being so, she knew it was not melodramatic to fear such a fate. She bit her lip, raising her eyes slowly, hesitantly to meet Arthur's. "Thank you for being here," she whispered. "Thankyou for not hating me."
Arthur then continued, telling her that the child would have a loving father, uncle and possibly grandfather. "Uther will never forgive me," she stated quietly, but surely. "We both know this," she paused, managing a weak smile. "But even if he does not, as long as I have your support, then... things will be alright," she knew she was being over optomistic, she knew she was echoing Arthur's earlier words and perhaps being far too hopeful, but it felt nice to pretend, if nothing else, that somehow this mess would be sorted.
Impulsively, the brunette reached forward, to hug her brother-of-heart. "I am so lucky to have you," she whispered honestly. "Thankyou, Arthur."

Morgana nodded, sighing softly. "You must be careful, Arthur." she stated softly. "If Uther suspects, then who knows what he might do," she smiled slightly, squeezing the Prince's hand. "Don't worry though, I'll keep your secret. I have kept it safe thus far, and i will continue to do so, for Gwen and you belong together, I can see it in the way you are with each other." Away from Morgause's soft tongue, it made the words easier to say, less false. Though she had dreamed of Gwen becoming Queen, she was still uncertain as to why the idea brought such fear and hatred to her heart. Gwen was a simple yet lovely woman, and she would treat Arthur well. So why then had Morgana attempted so often to destroy her? The bruette sighed, shaking her head, dropping Arthur's hand and standing up, moving to the window. It was times like this when she begna to wonder if she were losing her mind; for one minute she would be the Morgana everyone knew, and then the next... she would be trying to get people executed. And always Morgause's voice would be whispering in her ear.
She turned back to the Pendragon as Arthur spoke of Cenred, nodding softly. "He is bitter and hates you and your father, though I cannot understand why," she confessed, biting her lip. "He seems to be in league with Morgause, though." This was the first time she had mentioned that she knew of the truce between them, and quickly she went to speak. "When I was brought before them, Morgause was there also. She encouraged him in his deeds, but Cenred refused." The words were not untrue, either. The brunette nodded as Arthur declared that the end of the war would be better for them all, biting her lip. "Do you think such a time will come?"

Morgana sighed softly, able to tell from the Pendragon's tone that her idea would be tossed aside. Still, she spoke it, just in the small case that he might actually consider her words. "To make your father listen we must have something that he cannot deny against the prince," she stated quietly. "My thought was... what if... I ... enabled him to... see me again?" she asked softly. "Chances are he is likely to attempt to recreate what he has already done once before, if not push it further," she failed to force back the shudder that pulsed through her body. "and if we could... arrange it, perhaps you and the King could simply... happen upon us?" It was a risky proposal, and if they were late or Uther did not come, then Morgana would be playing into the Prince's hands. But what other choice was there? She bit her lip, awaiting Arthur's decision, for he had more power over this situation than she.
"Deplomacy is not always your father's strong point," she reminded softly. Admittedly, neither was it Arthur's - his very attitude to this situation surrpised her, rather plesently. At least he wasn't threatening to kill the man. She sighed softly, listening to the blonde's words, nodding softly. "Thank you for helping me," she stated, rising to take Arthur's hands, managing a weak smile. "I wish I could have dealt with this by myself, but I... did not know what the right course of action would be,"

To hear Mordred speak of such unwavering loyalty to her made the brunette's heart fill a little with happiness and warmth - how she had missed the approval, respect and love of other people. To become Arthur and Uther's enemies had distanced her from them so much, and she missed the dinners, the talks, even Arthur teasing her. If only.... no. The brunette shook the thought away - things could not change. Morgause had taught her as much, and she knew that the other Witch was far wiser than Morgana herself would ever be. "I am glad you like the soup," she said honestly. "And I thank you for your words. It has been... sometime since I have heard such kindness spoken,"
Morgana smiled, sitting close to Mordred, grateful for the light the boy brought into her life. "And I will still be here for you, as much as I can," she promised softly. Perhaps she could even do more now than she had been able to before; she did not have to hide who she was, and she answered to noone... but then again, if she was caught, she didn't know what Uther and Arthur might do to her. She listened intently as Mordred spoke of how it had been for him, nodding solomnly. As he spoke of bringing badness, she rested a hand upon his back. "I will protect you," she promised softly. "I know well what is to fear death consistantly; it is why I left Camelot - " there was far more too it, of course, but she was not about to burden Mordred with her tale. "Just know that you are safe here, Mordred, and are welcome here as long as you wish to remain."
NRP: Haha I love it! *hugs Mordred*! I'm so sorry it took me so long to get to replying to this thread!

Caitrin's rather pompous reply had Morgana growling in annoyance. "You dare to name your child after the bastard who threatens my throne?" she spat at Caitrin. Her hand went as though to slap the woman, but at the last minute her features changed, and she smiled, sweetly. "Well, if he is Arthur, then he must do all I had planned for him," With that, the Queen wrenched the child from Caitrin's arms. "I suppose you would not wish for your child to bear the brunt of the the consequences that Arthur Pendragon must face. So if you wish for his saftey, I would answer my question properly, Caitrin,"
She turned to the woman's husband, narrowing her eyes. "I do not care for your opinion, for to me you are useless. What powers have you? What influences have you? You are a dog that trails around his wife, you are a father who laps up the stench his children create," Morgana smirked, still holding the chld. "It is very cold tonight," she commented casually. "I suppose your child would not last long out in that weather."
NRP: Let me know if you want me to change anything?

The Queen laughed softly at Yassia's obvious attempt to anger her with her foolish and contradictory words, rolling her eyes as though the words themselvs meant nothing to her. "You know nothing of how a Queen must act," she taunted softly. "I would keep your mouth closed, Yassia, or I may have chance to cut it out! And then where would you be?"
She smirked as the woman spoke of the paper she had made Caitrin sign, and rolled her eyes. It was becoming obvious that Yassia knew nothing of how the Prince, Arthur, thought or acted. Perhaps it was time Morgana made things clearer to her! Perhaps it was time she made things clearer to both of them. But for now.... she pasted a smile on her features, a patronising and pitying smile. "You know nothing of Arthur. I have grown up with him, and I know how he thinks. To see Caitrin has signed such a paper will break his will. They once were firm friends. It matters not whether Caitrin made it under duress or in her own will. She made it, and now she will hold to it." She smirked. "You will both see Arthur bow down before me, and pronounce me as Queen."
Stalking forward, Morgana grabbed Yassia by the cloth of the woman's dress, glaring into her eyes. "You know nothing of my plans," she hissed in her face. "If i were you, I would speak carefully to your Queen. For she may yet decide to grant peace to you and yours. I only ask for what is rightfully mine; what Arthur threatens to take without promise." She let go of the woman, returning to stand near the door. "Perhaps sometime in the darkness will have you changing your mind,"
NRP: I am SO SORRY this has taken me so long to respond to!!!!

The day had been one of warmth and sunshine, and as Morgana sat in front of her dressingroom's mirror, brushing her hair, she smiled, her heart feeling lighter than it had in a while. The dreams for now at least had stopped, and she and Arthur were to go riding later! Her brother of heart had spent much time with his council recently, and though she did not begrudge him, the brunette had to admit to missing his company (though she would never tell him that.) But Arthur had not come, and Morgana was wondering whether he had simply forgotten that they were supposed to go riding together. Well, no matter! She would tease him about it, and then they would go another time.
Little could phase Morgana, and she knew how busy her brother-of-heart was. Despite her teasing him often, she would never wish for them to swap places, for there was so much pressure upon him! And although he confided in her, it was still not sometimes enough to lower the pressures and expectations of the Prince. The brunette shook her head, with a soft sigh, her mind turning to their King, Uther, her guardian. The man was one of many curiosities, and yet Morgana still felt incredibly lucky to be under his protection. Despite his harsh laws, he was generally a just King; it was only his ban against magic that frightened the Ward.
Upon hearing the door knock, Morgana turned, an eyebrow raising a little. Was that perhaps Arthur? But he never knocked! So it must, surely be someone else. "It's open," she called softly, for her door was always open; whether it be Merlin, Guinevère, or any other friend! Still sitting, the brunette awaited the entrance of whomever was on the other side, a small smile on her face.

As they stepped out of the carriage, Morgana's heart lifted at the sight of Arthur standing next to Guinevère. They looked so peaceful, so at home together! Her heart swelled with happiness for the couple, and as Arthur greeted them by name, the brunette sank into a graceful curtsey, for despite the King being her brother-of-heart, all those around her were now royalty, whilst she was only a Lady. Thus decorum was, surely, somewhat expected? A sharp tug of her husband's hand on her arm almost had Morgana losing foot, and she stumbled a little before rising again, feeling her cheeks go red.
Charles' hand on her grew tighter. "King Arthur, Queen Guinevère. We thank you for your kind welcome to your country. It has indeed been too long, but alas my wife has been unable to travel." Morgana almost protested at the outright lie, but shut her mouth quickly - now was not the time for conflict. If she was only to have a few days with Arthur and Guinevère, then she would make them count, and not spend them arguing over petty things with her husband. Her eyes widened, however, as Arthur revealed the boy in his Queen's arms, saying that he was their son. She shot her husband an accusationary glance - she had known nothing of this! If she had, then nothing, nothing would have stopped her from coming to Camelot! "We congratulate you on the birth of your child," Her husband spoke for her, his hand still on Morgana's arm, warningly.
"Your Highnesses' should know," Morgana stated quietly, for she would not let this pass! "that I knew nothing of your son's birth. Had I known, then not even the Gods could keep me from coming here. It is indeed a happy time for you both, and I know no one else who deserves such a joy more than you." Her words were heartfelt, and once again she bowed her head in respect to both of them. Guinevère's offer of refreshments brought a smile to the brunette's face - if Charles were tired, he could retire alone! For she would spend whatever time she could to make up for all these lost years. Everything that she had missed... She opened her mouth to reply, but Charles beat her to it, his voice tight with agitation and anger.
"You must forgive my Lady, King Arthur. She knows not of such matters, for she has yet to produce such a joy for me," he glanced over at Morgana, and the woman shuddered a little. "Perhaps this is what one should expect when their wife is not of... appropriate stock," he smirked softly, pulling Morgana to him, his hand sliding down to clench her butt, possessivly. "Still, time may yet prove her able." The Prince paused, then turned to Guinevère. "We must politely decline, Queen Guinevère," he said cooly. "My wife has a delicate temprement, and the travelling has left her wary and tired. Too much excitement is not good for her." Morgana clenched her teeth, wanting to argue back at this, but knowing the punishment if she did so. The brunette gently inclined her head.
"We thank you both for your hospitality, though," she stated quietly.

"Get her.... to help." Morgana gasped quietly to the guards, not caring about herself as she shuddered again in pain, pressing a hand to her mouth as she forced back the urge to vomit. Caitrin's condition was worrying her more and more, especially so as Morgana, in her current state, could do nothing to help. Had she been able to, she wasn't sure exactly what she could have done anyway. But she would have tried something! Anything.
With a sob the Witch folded in on herself, closing her eyes tightly. As she did, images swept before her eyelids; images that terrified her to her very core. At the centre of them, as always, was Morgause, smiling victoriously. "Goddess help us," she breathed softly, still shuddering violently.

Nothing was definable any longer. The pain was so real, so intense, that all Morgana wanted was for someone to end it fast and furiously - she would have welcomed Arthur's sword at this point! She gave a soft sob, knowing that no one would help here. Even if her sister were here, Morgana knew that the blonde would not even care, she would act as though everything were normal. "Please, Caitrin," She gasped quietly between her sobs. "Please leave, now, before..." She cut off, shuddering in pain. "Curse you Morgause!" She spat at the air, the first time she had ever used such words against her sister. Sister. Was she really that? What if it had been a lie from the very start? Morgana had given up so much, and for what? For whom? Who was Morgause really? And why did she even care about Morgana? Was it just to take over Camelot?
Her head jolted up though, as Caitrin fell to her knees, a soft cry of pain coming from the other woman. "Caitrin?" She choked out beneath her own pain, glaring up at the guards. "Help her!" she snapped at them, though she could do nothing herself, for she was still in so much pain. Her eyes widened at the sight of the blood on Caitrin's hands, and she felt her breath coming faster as panic filled her. What was going on? By the Goddess', what on earth was going on? Was this another trick of Morgause's? Or was there something much deeper happening here?

"Perhaps that person.. is not worth something now," She whispered in response to Caitrin's words, and though she knew what the girl meant, though she knew she was referring to when they had been at court, and friends, Morgana felt her heart break a little. How had she come to this? How had she changed so much? It could not all be Morgause, could it? Some of what was going on had to be Morgana's choice... surely? But she would never cause harm to these people! Not Arthur, her brother of heart, not Caitrin, her friend of court! None of them deserved this!
"Please... just go," The brunette's words were little more than a whisper, and she was unsure whether Caitrin would even listen to her. Once again she wondered why this woman was caring about her; why she was attempting to help her. For Morgana had done nothing but hate this woman! Hurt her, confine her to a dungeon. The pain continued, and Morgana's eyes filled with tears, for she had tried to do everything! Everything her sister had wanted, she had done! And this... this was what was happening? All she had ever tried to do was... -- again the pain came, and Morgana cried out, stifling a sob. "For the love of Camelot," she harried out in a single breath. "Please, go,"

Breathe, Morgana... breathe.... breathe... Caitrin's voice was getting further and further away as the brunette struggled against breath. But as the woman asked if Morgana was sure she was alright, the brunette gave a struggled laugh. "Why do you... care?" she asked, though her voice was soft, without accusation. "I should mean nothing... to you." She shudderedin pain again, her head beginning to spin. "Please," she whispered, though she was unaware the word was said outloud. She shuddered once, twice, three times, her head feeling as though someone were hammering their way through her brain. She swallowed, trying to struggle through the pain, to answer Caitrin's question. "You... deserved better," she murmured, her hands clenching upon the table, as she struggled to breathe.
As Caitrin asked if she would like some water, Morgana managed a tiny smile; as if water would help! This was not something natural, though she knew she could never say such to Caitrin. The woman would probably think that Morgana was simply insane. Perhaps she was. "You can..." she whispered, as the woman asked if Morgana was certain she could go. "Please... before I... they... she..." The words would not come, and with a gasp the Queen attempted to stand, to gain some distance, but her legs were weak, and she fell to the floor, shuddering gently. "Please Morgause!" she choked out, barely able to breathe.

To hear Arthur proclaim that she would not break him, with such strength in his voice even as the whip lashed upon his back made Morgana furious. Who was he to act so pompous?! Of royal blood maybe, but how could he be so arrogant when faced with such a trial as this?! No - she would break him at all costs. And then she would have him walk through Camelot, to show the peopple that even Arthur was not unbreakable. Lash upon lash fell upon the Prince's back, but still he did not beg for mercy. The brunette's lips pursed together; perhaps some different punishment was required? She had not expected him to stand so firmly against her - even in his pitiful position, he was being defiant. Defiant, proud and... well, the perfect Prince. Acknowledging such a fact was hard for her, but she had no other choice. For who else would endure so much for their people?
It was then that a dusting of chance came upon her, as Caitrin broke free from her guards, and pleaded for Morgana to unleash the whip upon her, instead of the blonde. The brunette's lips curled into an ugly smile; there! There it was, the way in which to break Arthur! For the foolish Pendragon cared nothing for his own health when there was much at risk - hadn't he proven that so many times before? - but for his friends and those he held dear, no risk was too great. The Queen chuckled softly, raising a hand to stop the torturer as he moved to lash Arthur again. "Why would you be so willing to take this... street rat's place?" She asked, referring of course to the Prince. "Why would you offer yourself?" She smirked, shrugging. "Very well. If that is your wish - guards!!" She called out, waiting for two to come forward.
It was the Princess's desperate denial of her friend's offer that paused Morgana, for the second time in those minutes they had been here. She turned to her, her eyes flickering between the three - Caitrin trembling where she stood, Arthur on the ground trying desperately to catch his breath... and this girl, this Yassia, asking what it was that Morgana wanted from them all. She raised an eyebrow, humming softly, thoughtfully. "You three are curious to me." she stated. "Arthur would give up his life for any of you, and despite the sins his father - my father - has commited, you would both protect him. But you, Yassia... to what do you owe the Pendragon? Why do you ask justice of me?" She asked, not sure if she expected an answer. "Or is it simply for the safety of your friend, Caitrin, that you ask such things?"
She moved toward the throne, resting a hand upon the head of it, watching the three still, her eyes flickering from one to the other. "There is a way that this can stop," she stated softly. "There is a way to end the pain - not only for Arthur, but for all of you, and for Camelot. If Arthur were to bow to me, and call me Queen, and sign his admittance, then all this would be over. No one else would have to endure pain or torment." The brunette's eyes fell upon Arthur. "I only wish for peace for these people, Arthur. The choice is yours."

Sooo I don't know if anyone is interested, but I have very recently (in fact, today!) started making music videos about Merlin (the series), and the character's relationships with each other. As of yet there is only one video on there, but I'd love to get your guy's feedback! Premises: The vid is based around Arthur and Uther's relationship from Season 1-3, and the song I used is 'Kelly Clarkson's 'because of you'. Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXyI9JJi140

At Caitrin's words, Morgana's eyes shot up; surprised that the woman cared at all how she was. Shouldn't she hate her? Shouldn't she hope that Morgana was at death's door, after all the Queen had done to her? "I am quite well," she whispered, though her words were weaker than she had hoped. "Thankyou." She nodded in acceptance as the other woman stated that only time would tell if she were sorry or not - Caitrin was right, she supposed. After everything she had done.... "I should not have..." the words were getting harder to speak, Morgana's voice thickened a little as it seemed as though there were a hand clasping about her throat. "I..." but the words did not come, thus she fell silent, her heart pounding in fear.
"You may... go home," She said the words rather quickly in reply to Caitrin's question, fearing the consequences Morgause might give her for allowing such leniency, but at the same time refusing to make this woman, this innocent, pay for something she was not responsible for. "Whenever it ..." Again Morgana's voice choked, and again she had to stutter for breath. Her face was aflame; Morgause had never done this in public, so why now? Why would she cause such a thing when it might reveal whatever was going on? In truth, Morgana herself didn't even know.
