Though Caitrin had referred to Morgana as a 'Lady' rather than 'Queen', the brunette decided not to say anything or to be angered by it. She wanted to gain the woman's trust, after all, no send her in the arms of Arthur and his friends. She shook her head from the thought - there it was again! Why was she consistantly seeing Arthur as an enemy? Wasn't he her -- no, no. No. Arthur was none of those things. She should put the thought from mind! A sharp pang to the chest, and Morgana winced, shuddering a little before she forced herself to be calm.
"No," she agreed to Caitrin's words. "You did not." Her eyes looked the woman up and down, before she gestured to a chair near to her. "Please, sit. The dress looks well on you."
As she was asked if anyone would be joining them, once again Morgana's mind flashed to when she had once shared such times with her brother of heart, and Uther. How had things changed so much that she could not dine with either of them? Her hatred toward Uther was understandable - he had lied and decieved her, he was a hypocrite of the worst kind! But Arthur... wasn't Arthur just a victim, like she was? Really, he had been the best brother anyone could ask for. Their blood tie should have drawn them closer, not further apart! Morgana's body shuddered again in pain, and she cleared her throat, swallowing as her gaze returned once again to Caitrin. "No, we will be dining alone," she stated softly, and for the first time since her take-over, she sounded more like the Morgana of old. "I wish to... apologise." The words came out without her realising, and a cold fist clutched at her gut, squeezing her insides. The witch swallowed, struggling to keep her features neutral through the pain. "For what ... what I have put you through."

It was almost night when Morgana sent for Caitrin. She had pondered how to handle her new ally - how to make her stay true, and how to make her tell her things that might help the Queen in her rule, whilst appearing to be gracious, but Caitrin was trickier than Morgana thought. Though she had once thought she knew the girl, becoming Queen made her realise she did not. She had not seen Caitrin since locking the girl up in her chambers, and was a little worried that the girl might just realise how unsure in her new power the Queen really was.
It was for this reason that Morgana had decided to make a gesture - to invite the lady to dine with her (of course, invitation was rather a loose term - Caitrin would not have a choice!) and to make things seem as they had once been. She was unsure if the tactic would work, but it was worth a try. The dining table had been laced with a simple but full meal, including wine and water should Caitrin desire it. Morgause had been fobbed off with some excuse - despite her sister's protests, Morgana did not want the blonde interfering here.
The brunette herself sat at the head of the table, trying not to remember how one it had been Uther in this seat, and her and Arthur on either side. They had been... happy. A true family, even when she had not known her blood ties to them. It had truly been that knowledge that had tipped the scales. However, it had been Uther's doing, and not Arthur's, that had been the cause for such deciet, and once again Morgana's certainty wavered. Why should Arthur pay for his father's mistakes? Why should Caitrin? Why should Yassia, or anyone else? But Morgause's words flowed through her mind, and once again Morgana held firm, as the doors opened.
"Caitrin," she greeted. "Thankyou for joining me." .

Morgana smiled, reaching forward to taken Arthur's hand. "And I missed you, more than I can say," the words were true, for she had. The guilt she had felt in leaving was only guilt because she had left Arthur. Uther did not matter as much to her, but it was Arthur's companionship she cared for and missed whilst she had been with the druid people.
To hear Arthur promise such a thing was a relief beyond all measures. More than any man or being, she knew she could trust Arthur when he swore such a thing. He did not take promises lightly, and he would always keep his word as much as he could. The brunette allowed him to lead her to the bed, sitting down adn tugging him down next to her. A nervous glance to the door, and then her eyes were upon him once more. "... the druids did not take me," she stated quietly. "I went to them willingly, but there is good enough reason for my going there." The ward of Uther Pendragon sighed softly, shifting a little. "You know as well as any other, adn perhaps more, how troubling my dreams are to me, Arthur. How... real they sometimes are," she could list a thousand times where the things had actually almost occured.
A pause, a breath, and Morgana steeled her resolve. "The druid people were helping me to understand, Arthur. I... now know what my dreams are, I now know why they occur," she bit her lip, lowering her voice to just above a whisper. "It is connected to magic, Arthur," her voice trembled a little, as she worried how he would respond.

She could not understand his attitude. What had she done so entirely wrong to deserve this? The brunette closed her eyes, a few tears leaking from her eyes. "I don't understand," she whispered brokenly, referring to all his words. For she could not see what he meant. Coming here had been not of her own choice, despite it being a blessing. She had not even known their destination until he had taken the cloth from her cage! So why was he looking at her like that? As though... as though she were an enemy?
"What have I done to you to make you treat me like this?" She asked softly. "Have I not been a sister to you? Have you not called me such, treated me as such, and teased me as such? Where is all that now, Arthur? Why do you look at me as though you hate me? Why do you hold your sword as though you wish to--" she cut off, giving in, closing her eyes with a sigh. "If you do not wish to free me, then please... leave me be."

As the carriage drew over the cobblestones that met with the bridge into Camelot, Morgana's heart raced a little with excitement, happiness and relief. Finally she would be home; finally she would be somewhere safe, if only for a small while. It had been so long since she had been here - far too long for her liking. Nearly three years, by her count.
Shifting a little uncomfortably in her seat, the brunette glanced over at her sleeping husband, feeling the familiar hatred for him rise inside. It was because of him that she had missed so much. He had refused to let her travel without him, and he hated Camelot with a passion. The only reason he had married her -- well, they would not go into that. The very thought made her feel ill. Silently Morgana wondered what Arthur would think of her, when he saw her. Her brother of heart was no fool, and he above anyone else in the land would be able to tell how much had changed; by Morgana's countenance if nothing else. She was meeker, barely ever answered back or raised her tone, very rarely offered her opinion on anything... and all this was due to her husband, Gods curse him.
Even if she did not say anything, she feared Arthur would notice. And if not him, then Gwen. But if they did notice, woudl they care? For she had not been able to respond to their letters thanks to her husband, and thus they had eventually stopped writing altogether. It had broken her heart to lose contact with them, but what else could she do? Besides, the news she had to share was not news they would ever wish to hear. If Arthur knew what was happening... the lady sighed, shaking her head. He could not know, ever.
A glance out the window showed Morgana they were nearing the Castle and - oh ! It was almost in sight! Her heart raced happily, and for the first time she felt as though she belonged somewhere. The brunette almost smiled, then she caught sight of her own reflection in the mirror, and the threat of such a thing faded. She did not belong here, and she was not fit to be here. They would not recognise her. Her face was drawn and gaunt, her skin pale where once it had been healthy. She was so much skinnier now; thanks to many attempts at producing an heir, and failing. The continuous hemmorages and miscarrages had taken their toll on the young woman. And she feared what her friend's reactions would be when they realised just how changed she was.
As the carriage drew to a stop outside the Castle, Morgana swallowed, grateful to see her husband had still not yet awoken. She nodded to the carriagman, who opened the door for her, though he did not bow. None of her husband's men bowed to her, nor would they ever. Morgana offered the man a soft nod of thanks, though he did not deserve it, and descended the steps. As she was about to, though, a hand reached out, and grabbed her by the wrist.
"Whores do not go before Kings," She flinched at the harshness, though not at the name. She was used to being called such things by now. "Show me some respect, or so help me Morgana, we will return home and you will woe the day you came here."
"Yes, my Lord." Morgana shied back into the carriage, watching Charles stand. Though the now-King was handsom, the facade was only a cover for the bitterness and hate within. He was a pompous, arrogant man with no respect for anyone but himself. He hated the Pendragon dynasty with a passion, and he made no secret of it. It had not helped when he had found out that Arthur had married a servant. For her part, Morgana had been thrilled. Her brother-of-heart had gone against tradition, but she rejoiced for him. He deserved to be happy, and Guinevère was the perfect choice for him. They would make a good couple, a happy couple. Better that than Arthur be unhappy with a bride of someone else's choice.
Morgana watched her husband descend the steps of the carriage, and move toward the small procession waiting for them. "Arthur of Camelot," his voice sounded out, loud and clear, and she shuddered a little. "We thank you for your gracious welcome to your country." She knew this was her cue to join his side, but she could not find the courage to do so. What had she been thinking? She no longer held the pride she once had, she was too different, and Arthur and his wife would know that in seconds. She was not fit to be among them.

Morgana paused, thinking. "I... may have an idea," she said hesitantly. It was not one that she enjoyed thinking, but... if it would help expose the man.... would it not be worth it? Assuming, of course, that Arthur would even agree to the plan. She very much doubted he would, for sometimes he was protective over her to a fault. She quitened when he spoke of finding others who had probably become victims, biting her lip. "it would take time," she stated quietly. "And some might not even be willing to come forward. If it were I, I do not think I could bare the shame of admitting it," it was an uncomfortable thing to admit to, but nontheless true.
"Can we? Can I afford to do this, and risk war? You know your father - if he finds out, he may be the one to declair ware. Not for my sake, but because his pride will have been tarnished." she sighed softly "I am sorry Arthur, to have burdened you with such a thing." She managed a slight smile though as he promised that the visiting Prince would not touch her whilst Arthur was around, knowing he was a man of his word. "Thankyou," she stated quietly. "That means more to me than I can perhaps explain."

His words held truth she could not deny, yet Morgana was determined not to sit back and just allow this to happen. Arthur was the only chance that Camelot had of ever being fair and just - toward all its people. "Then they may have to leave Camelot," she stated sadly in return for his words "For none of them can afford these taxes or anything else Uther might impose." She shook her head as the Prince continued, his words showing how much he doubted himself. "No. Be no one but yourself, Arthur. The people hope and pray for your reign, and for you to change to please him will mean that Camelot is doomed."
She sighed quietly as he continued to ask her not to defy Uther - using the people as well as himself to try to convince her. "It is for both the people and you that I cannot stand by," but she quietened a little when he revealed his thoughts - that he he wanted her to gain information, and be privy to such laws that might change. The brunette nodded. "That I can do," she promised softly. "Very well. I will do as you ask, but only for the reason you ask me to. Despite the fact that I care little for Uther and ... her... right now." - she would never call that woman Queen!
The brunette nodded, placing a hand on Arthur's arm. "I will stay here for now, and do as you ask. But only because I want to see you reinstated and for Catrina to be banished. Or at least dismissed. Remember that throughout my being here, that will be my goal."

A small smile flittered to Morgana's lips as Arthur tried to lighten the humour - not so much at the words he was saying, but the fact that he was saying them for her sake. She wanted to say something in return, but the pain was unbearable. As the cart ran over a bump, a sharp pain rippled through her, and Morgana cried out, body arching a little "Arthur!" she cried out, giving a soft sob as she spoke his name, trying desperately to hold on to some sense of consciousness.
Hearing him return her words - even if he were only saying them to humour her - made the brunette feel as though she had accomplished at least something in this word. She was no great warrior, she was not a Prince, and she was not particularly of any importance; apparently except to Arthur. Even though Merlin and Guinevère cared for her as friends, she doubted they would mourn her for long. She could not say how Uther would react, but selfishly it was more Arthur's reaction that she cared for. For it was he that made her feel worthy of being in this life.
As he practically ordered her not to leave him, the brunette managed a tiny smile, and snuggled a little further into his embrace. "I will always be... with you," she stated quietly, though she knew that was not what he had meant. "You.... will be... a great King," Did she have any wisdom to impart? No, for she did not know the ways of Kings and Princes, despite having lived with both for practically her entire life. "Please... Arthur..." She whispered, not quite sure what she was even asking for.

"And the second you had turned to leave again, I would join you," Morgana countered with a teasing note, though her words were honest. "It is hardly a place for you, either," She shook her head, sighing softly. "I still should have done more." she stated firmly. She nudged him gently, careful not to hurt him. "Perhaps next time I shall run into the courtyard naked. That should get your attention," she would never do anything of the sort, but it would be fun to see what Arthur's reaction to the threat would be.
The ward sighed as Arthur expressed his wish to see her dreams eradicated. "It is at such times like this when I am glad they are not," she replied honestly. "But generally I agree with you." She shivered a little in remembrance, biting her lip. As he spoke of consistantly teasing her, the shadow over her features passed, and Morgana gave a slight smile. "I would rather have you as a teasing brother, than none at all," she promised softly. "And you are the best brother I could have ever asked for." Sentimental words that the Prince might later tease her for, but for now Morgana was grateful she had said them out loud, for they were true; completely. She felt honoured to know Arthur, to be respected by him and to have the privalage of being called his sister-of-heart. He was the person she was most closest to in all of Camelot, and she could not imagine life without him in her world.
When he asked whether Gaius had been able to say anything about her dreams, the brunette sighed. "He simply gave me another potion," she shook her head, bitterly. "I think to him and Uther I am a lost cause. Perhaps they are right." She swallowed. "One of these days I fear he will give me a potion that will mean I never wake again," to speak such words to anyone but Arthur was dangerous - but she knew to Arthur she could say almost anything, and he would listen, though he might not agree. The thoughts made her feel slightly ill, and when he stated that he would listen and not be reckless, she barely responded, her mind still with her dreams.

Morgana smiled a little as Arthur spoke of his fear for Guinevère, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I knew at the time that you would not marry Elana," she said honestly. "Even though she was a lovely woman, I knew your heart belonged to another," She gave a small smile, but the smile faded a little. "But Uther will never allow you to marry Guinevère," she stated, knowing that he must know this.
"Cenred will always be a coward, Arthur. He would rather risk the lives of others than his own," Her words were true, and she did not doubt them for a single moment. "I was lucky - Cenred did not lay a hand physically on me, he was too cowardly," she gave a slight smile. "And I would never reveal your and Guinevère's love to him. Though if you are right, and he does know, we must be extra careful," but of course Arthur already knew this.

She could almost feel the raw pain pulsing through the Prince. It scared and awed her, for in this state Morgana did not know what Arthur was capable of. He had never, in all the years she had known him, struck out at another person blindly, but now he looked to take out half the kingdom with such an action, and to show no regret, either. The brunette frowned, but did not remove her touch. She would find out the truth, even if if he killed her for knowing it.
As he spoke his desire of wanting to kill Uther, both relief and honest surprise filled the Ward. She had never, ever heard him speak such words before, so what would be means to invoke them now? Instead of letting the torrent of questions in her mind take over, Morgana spoke quietly, calmly, hoping her voice woudl soothe the blonde at the same time. "But he is not here," she stated softly. She bit her lip, "Arthur, what has happened?" a hand now went to his back, as though to support him. "You know you can tell me anything,"
The pure anger she could feel radiating from the Pendragon Prince was as awe-inspiring as it was terrifying. And to know that the anger was now directed at Uther... it made Morgana curious to know just what had happened to make Arthur say and do such things. Was this something to do with Gwen? Or Merlin? Did either of them know what Arthur was going through? No - if he had talked through this already with somone, she knew he would not have been in the state she had found him in. "You can trust me,"

As the blonde snapped at her for being melodramatic, Morgana almost laughed. Almost. For in truth, there was nothing funny about this situation at all. Everything Arthur said was right, and she knew it. Something had to be sorted, and she had to tell him everything, or goodness knows what might occur. A strange calm stole over the brunette as suddenly the simplicities of the situation became clear. If she took one step, one leap, then perhaps all this would be over. The nightmare would be ended, and she and Arthur could go back to being squabbling sister and brother-of-blood. But coudl she really, truly, do such a thing? To the child? To anyone? Could she really be such a coward...? She was fearing not.
Forcing herself to listen to Arthur once more, the ward managed a faint smile. He was telling her that he was glad, glad that she had come to him with such a thing. But who else could she trust? Who else knew her as Arthur did, and who else would listen to the whole story before they passed judgement? She trusted the blonde implicetly, and thus she would have never kept such a thing. Which was why she had to tell him the whole truth, no matter the conequences. "I know I can trust you," she stated softly. "Above everyone else in this world, you hold my trust, Arthur." She took a shuddered breath as Arthur tried to pry the truth from her, and closed her eyes, forcing herself to look out of the window rather than at him, nable to see his expression, fearing how he might react. "I... it's nothing, Arthur," she eventually said, "I have made a foolish mistake and... i alone must bear the consequences."

She had expected him to retort, but not with the sterness and belief that he injected into his words. Guilt slammed into Morgana - she should have told him. She should have trusted him. Arthur was like no one she had ever met before; she had known this since they were children, so why had she been so afraid he would betray her? Her head lowered in shame, and tears rose to her eyes once again. As he continued to say that she was still the same woman, that he loved her nonetheless, and that for him, she had not change, the tears began to fall. Morgana looked up, shakily, her sorrow clear in her gaze.
"Please forgive me," she choked out. "Forgive me for keeping this from you, for lying to you, for not believing in you." she swallowed. "I did not know where to turn," her words were honest and rang with sincerity. "And I thought... if you knew... you would despise me. For your father hates everything to do with magic, and even if you thought of me as you say you do, you would be put in a terrible position," She swallowed, shaking her head.
As he warned her that he would not stand by and do nothing, Morgana's heart filled with relief, and fear. Not for herself, but for him. The brunette bit her lip. "Arthur..." She began, then stopped. No. He was right, she did know him well enough to know he would not allow such a thing to happen. "you are a true brother to me, Arthur," she said instead. "I am honoured to know you... and to know that you do not hate me humbles me to the depths of my soul."

Congratulations to Gwen, Athur and Elyan!!!!
Gwen, your portrayal of Guinevère is amazing, and you make her so believable, even to someone who doesn't actually like the character (like me!).
Arthur, your portral of Arthur is outstanding, and it is always a pleasure and privalage to roleplay with you, as you bring so many layers to your character, making him so believable!
Elyan, though we haven't had the chance to rp together yet, I have read a few of your threads with other characters, and your portrayal of your character echoes perfectly the Elyan we all have come to know and love through the show!
Thankyou so much for the award for Quote of the Month!!

"You are not in the position to make demands, Caitrin," Morgana's voice was sharp, although she was starting to tire of this argument. It had been fun, but really, how much could one argue over such a thing? "But I will allow you to write to your uncle, assuring him of your safety here, and of your pleasure at being my guest." The last bit was said with some irony; she knew Caitrin would never find pleasure being here, and she wanted to dig the knife a little closer to the heart.
She watched as Caitrin read the document, able to tell the noblewoman was not really reading; perhaps even that she could not, for by now she must be exhausted - both emotionally and physically. As soon as the treaty was signed, Morgana wisked it away from sight. "The guards will now take you to your rooms," she stated firmly.

Morgana smiled, though it was impatiently done. "When I decide," she replied, wanting to keep control over this woman - mentally as well as physically - for as long as she could. "It is my pleasure to have you here, and will stay so for a while," She chuckled softly.
She tossed the allegance agreement at the girl as she said she would read it, knowing that Caitrin would have no choice but to sign it - and even in signing it, she would not be saving anyone. Arthur would die, when Morgana found him. And anyone opposing her would have their share of pain and fear. "Read what you will," she stated, nodding to a guard, who quickly brought through a makeshift wooden table and chair, for Caitrin to sit on.
NOTE: SO sorry its so short!!

"You will be an honoured guest," replied Morgana. "But because of your previous... descrepancies, we must be careful. It is only to begin with. Then you will be released, fully." Of course Caitrin didn't know of the things that would happen before that time. And Morgana wasn't intending for her to find out any time soon, either.
The Queen's smile was prominent as Caitrin asked about the treaty. "Do you wish to read it?" she asked, though her voice held a slightly teasing edge. "It does not state anything we have not agreed to between ourselves, but if you wish to read it you may." Despite her victory, Morgana could not but help feel a little... well, sad. Is this what people were brought to when they succombed to her? She had to admit, she had been hoping for a happier Camelot. But they would be happier, she supposed, in the later years; after this first one, when she had had the chance to prove herself fully.

The boys words made sense, and Morgana nodded her understanding. "It is hard to be at peace when one has been hunted," she agreed softly. "But please know that you are safe here; I will do whatever I can for you," The boy was the only link to the life that she had once had, the only good thing left in her life. Perhaps he would help her see where she had gone so wrong; perhaps now she need not be alone.
His enthusiasm about the soup made her chuckle, the first in a long time, and Morgana's eyes crinckled into a smile. "I wish I could give you better, Mordred," She lamented softly. "Alas, this is all I have." She paused. "And please, there is no need to call me 'Lady' any longer," she sighed quietly. "I am a friend of Camelot no longer, I fear." She feared little, but she knew for certain she would never be regarded in Camelot in the same way she had been for so long. No one would trust her - how could they?
Mordred's word were true; much had happened. "That is a question all in itself, Mordred," She smiled at him, though her heart was a little sad that this was how he had found her. "Things are better now that you are here," That was at least true. "And how have you been?"

A soft chuckle left Morgana's lips as the true state of Caitrin filled her gaze, and for once she felt truly as if she were on the avenging side. The girl was broken - so much more than her friend was - and in this, the Queen felt as though she had accomplished something. "Perhaps you should learn to think it is," Morgana's words were sharp. "For with it, you will be a guest instead of a prisoner, an ally instead of an enemy."
With a nod of her head, a guard stepped forward, handing Morgana the scroll upon which held the treaty Caitrin was to sign. She had had it carefully written, and if Caitrin looked close enough, she might refuse altogether. For though the wording was complex and strange, there were things in there that would mean that once the paper was signed, all honour to Caitrin would be lost. "Here is the treaty," Morgana said sharply. "Sign it, and all will be well between you and I."

Damn! This woman was tougher than any prisoner yet. And smarter, too, by the sounds of it. Morgana schooled her features into a smile - though some might call it a smirk - and nodded. "You are well versed in politics, Yassia," she complimented. "You are right, of course. No matter the promises you make, there is a possibility I could hurt those you care for. But you are mistaken in my needs. I am not power hungry, but I yearn for this kingdom to know that I am a stronger ruler than those before me." She shrugged a little. "It is no large thing to ask, I think."
"It is not your privalage to see such a thing!" Morgana's mind worked quickly and she stepped forward, then stopped; to strike this woman would only prove that Yassia had some power over her. She was not threatened by a simple remark! She would not allow this girl to see how much she had irked her! She was stronger than that. "Whether she signed it willingly or not is no concern of yours! She has signed it and I hold her to my pleasure."
"You are no subject of mine but you are within the walls of my Castle! YOU WILL pledge yourself against Arthur and for me, or more will suffer. Do you not understand, foolish girl?" Oh, she was royally riled now. Morgana's words broke through before she could stop herself, and she almost regretted them once she'd said them. "Perhaps you wish to see Arthur begging before me. Perhaps you are no true friend of Camelot, and your decline to accept me is simply your way of saying that you do not care for the rule of Camelot as a whole?" Morgana forced a breath, before she lost her nerves completely. "If you wish to see Arthur before me, begging for mercy, then you shall have your wish."
[Note: Congrats on being the first character to manage to rile Morgana up!!!]
