Even if her mind had cleared and she could think with a stronger mind, she would NOT have let him ride off alone! She was no fool! He had an army with him the last time and he had fallen! Arthur take taken her hand and moved closer to her but she wanted to move closer to him and SHAKE him! Do not worry he asked of her and she shook her head, for that was the most foolish request he had made. "I will return well before Anna's birthday," Another promise he could be breaking.
"You promised to return last time and I spent five years morning you." She reminded him, "You've been returned a day and you speak of leaving again?!" Gaius had given his life to bring him back and she wanted him to stay! To be safe and sound and WITH HER and the children! "Invite them here! Bring the for Anna's birthday or another event and let them see you THEN! You need not leave again!" She wanted him here! ALIVE!

He went on to ask her to help with a list of trusted and untrusted persons. He wanted to know whom to trust and whom to purge from the castle. ". . . when I return." Return as king, she assumed, for she could not bare him from her side so soon. She had lived five years with her husband gone and dead. Five years of nights, and mornings alone. Five years of missing him. For Arthur it was but moments, but for Guinevère it was years. Years and years.
"Tonight I will go to our allies--" In the castle? Yet he spoke more and she realized he was speaking of leaving! LEAVING! She just had him back! Surely a trusted messenger could ride and build aid, why did he need to go personally? She knew somewhere in her mind that she was being unfair and not thinking with a clear mind but he had been dead for five years, returned a night and spoke of leaving again!
The last time he had gone and promised to return she was give his sword and an apologetic speech telling her how her husband had been brave and strong and he would be remembered for years upon years to come! Fear was evident on her face but so was the determination of keeping him alive and home where he belonged! "No," She whispered, rising to stand before him and moving away slightly. "Send a messenger. Send Kolby, or Percival or even someone else! Your place is here."

Arthur reached out and took her bag from her, Guinevère's eyes scanned the room as he gave orders and people hurried to obey and help. Her brother had not yet appeared in the room, but it mattered not. Her secret was reviled. She had a child, and everyone would be wondering if she had left a husband int he village. When none appeared to claim his wife they would learn she was unwed and had a child. For now there was no judgment in their gazes but she knew when no husband ever showed, that they would start to wonder of the father.
With her and Arthur having been public before he left her, she feared that in time others might wonder whom the father was, before her or Arthur were ready for others to know. "I'll be up shortly," He told her and she gave a shaken nod, and a small bow of her head to the king before turning to follow someone to a room they were ready for her.
She sat Amaren on the bed once there, and sat there beside him, her arms hurting from the weight, which had not seemed so much until she carried him so far and so long. Brushing his hair back she felt tears fall over her cheeks for she knew not what had happened to her neighbors nor friends. Were they alive? Harmed? . . . worse?
The door had been left open and when she heard someone enter it she stood quickly and turned to look at it. Arthur.

"I spoke to Kolby last night," Arthur sat them down and spoke of speaking with Kolby. She still felt worried about what he might be about to say. With everything changing she felt very on edge. "I thought that perhaps, we could have a proper table built. A larger one, for the council chamber," And for apparently no reason. She smiled softly, feeling everything ease down and relax. He wanted to speak of more changes for the good, nothing of the bad.
After a moment she found she was able to smile brighter and with more ease. "I think that sounds wonderful," She admitted to him. Liking that he still had his same ideals and wanted to move forward for the better. Change things to help the kingdom grow. "It would make a wonderful statement if your first council meeting with you being back was done around such a table." One with no head and no man above another. "Did you wish me to have it made?"

She had walked all night, all day and into the night again before reaching Camelot. Too afraid to hide or stop, she had barely even let Amaren walk near her for she wanted to keep moving quickly. The fear that someone could be behind her, following her, had kept her going. Upon reaching the city, many had recognized her and helped her get here quickly and even summoned the king for her.
Her arms hurt from carrying Amaren for so long and she feared they were break but until she knew he was safe she would put him down. He had only been asleep for a few hours before she reached the city. "Guinevère?!" She turned at the voice, feeling tears swell up at the knowlage that they were now completely safe. Her dress was dirty, and her hair a mess. "What happened?" He demanded looked very worried. Had he not shown up yesterday--or was it now the day before?--then he would have been in for a rather shocking surprise.
"The village was attacked." She told him, "I have . . . " She tried to reach in her bag for the broken seal but her arms were not strong enough to hold Amaren and reach at the same time. "I have apart of a seal, but I know whom it was."

Guinevère had helped the knight remove his armor so she could bind his ribs. She nearly jumped when she heard the sound of the voice that never left her heart or mind. "How bad is it?" Arthur asked, moving closer. She stared up at him for a moment before she was able to answer, "His ribs are broken," She said softly, before realizing that she was staring. Blinking she looked down and picked up the spare makeshift bandages.
"I will be fine." The knight told his king, looking at him almost expectantly. "He's stubborn." She tried to jest but it feel flat. Moving toward the sink she wet some of the bandages so she could begin cleaning the cuts that everyone had. "A trait that my mother swears I get from my father," The knight said, not looking away from Arthur. "Yet he swears the same of her." His parents sounded like they were in love, and with Arthur so near . . .
She could not even think of the knight. Arthur was here. Why? Had he been tracking the warlord? Why here? Pulling a wet bandage up she walked over to where the men were but paused before going too close to Arthur. Unsure of everything in this moment, she wanted there before approaching to clean the injured knight's cuts.

"I can't wait to get rid of it," Arthur admitted and Guinevère held back the words she wanted to tell him. She liked it, but she wanted him to be comfortable. "I will ask someone to bring something up. Perhaps Alex or Kolby whom we trust." That way he would not have to wear it long and could be comfortable, without anyone wondering why the queen required a blade for such reasons.
"May I speak to you for a moment?" His next words made her brows bow as he lead her across the chambers and even drew the curtain in order to give them a moment alone. "Is something wrong?" She asked, hoping that he simply just wanted some more time with her, yet with everything that had happened she still feared.

Guinevère could not have move during the fight if she had too. She could only watch as Arthur and the warlord exchanged blows. When Helios got in a stronger one while Arthur was distracted she tried to move forward but was tangled with the injured knight and could not move. She had not seen the approaching man until he was nearly on them. Before she could scream he burst into ash! Arthur stood behind him.
Her eyes were wide for she understood nothing of what was happening. The fight was over as Helios seemed to understand as little as she and charged forward. "Arthur!" She cried out, forgetting that there was too much between them for her to speak so informally between them! Yet he did not need the warning, for he delivered his own final blow.
"Are you both alright?" He asked as he turned to look at them. "Breathing." The knight told him, and Guinevère could only nod. Arthur! Arthur was here! "Go inside," He told him, "I'll be there shortly," It seemed the battle was turning. Camelot just might win.
The knight helped her (and her him) into the home that was not her's. "You need to sit." She told him, "My ribs are broken I think, I will be fine." Now he sounded like Arthur! For the first time she looked into his face and felt herself pause for a moment before speaking again. "I should bid them." She told him. He nodded but didn't move. "I fear I do not know your name." Whom to thank for saving her life back there. "I am called Amaren."
Her heart nearly stopped beating with how hard it skipped a beat when he said his name, while watching her closely. was he making sport of her now? "That is a fine name." She whispered, "My mother thought so."

Arthur left and she left out the breath she had been holding. As she heard the horse taking him away she felt herself starting to cry, for she was finally alone with her thoughts and fears. Arthur. Back in her life as she had not expected. He was here and it was as if he had never changed. Kind and strong and understanding rather then the man whom had left her in her hope after giving her hope.
She made sure to hide her feelings when Amaren awoke and asked about Papa. He then played while she tried to not think, yet Arthur's name never left her mind. Not even for a single moment. Arthur.
When she went to put Amaren to bed, Guinevère could not help but to watch him and think of how he even slept like his father. Oh Arthur, if only things had been different. Reaching down under Amaren's pillow she went to remove the rock that he had found earlier--as this was an almost nightly habit now. He would find a rock (or worse a bug) and hide it under his pillow so his mother would not take it and return it outdoors.
Yet tonight it was different, for as she pulled out the 'rock' she saw it was not a stone--but a broken off bit of metal. Looking at it for a moment she reconzied a bit of a seal! Not a dragon! Her eyes moved to the window and and she wondered whom had passed by. Being on the far edge of a little town like this meant her home was in danger should a raid happen for she could be one of the first.
She decided to pack a bag just in case, hoping that it was a lone man and nothing would happen. She put Amaren some clothing and her some clothing into a bag, as well as a two toys that might keep him silent if they had to leave. A water skin as well. Guinevère walked to hang it by the door and paused to stare out the window.
Between her new worry, and Arthur back in her life she feared she would never sleep. She didn't know how long she stood there--long enough for the darkness to take the sky and with no candles lit she her house was in darkness. Yet she kept looking at the stars and thinking and thinking.
It was movement in the village that drew her eyes down from the stars and the fear filled her. Men. Many of them. She did not think, she only reacted by silently running to her son, wrapping him tightly and turning for the bag, before running for the woods with a sleeping Amaren tightly in her arms.
Camelot was half a day's ride and on foot it would take her nearly a whole day--but she knew Camelot had to be warned and that she could not stay. she had to make it to the city . . .

Guinevère opened her eyes slowly, after having a rather restless night. She would open her eyes often, afraid that she would not see Arthur. Every time she had--he'd been there sleeping. This time however, she only saw a patch of empty bed and her children. Her heart beat so painful as she turned her head to look around the room. Seeing him there, as if he was preparing for his day made her head spin with the relief from panic.
Pushing from the bed she walked toward him, to come to stand between him in the bowel as she looked up at him. Her fingers reached up to touch his roughened cheek. "I fear I have nothing husbandly in here any longer." He could not rid himself of his bread yet. "Though you should keep it for a while. It would make you harder to recognize and you said you were not ready for others to know you are returned." Stretching up she kiss his lips lightly before falling back to her heels. She was just glad he was here still. She feared when the kingdom would have claim of him once again. "You are awaken early."

Guinevère saw Arthur step before her, and she looked up feeling more then a bit of fear at the sight of him here when all seemed lost. "Take her to the horses--""No!""--and ride far away from here. Now!" "No!" She didn't not want to leave Arthur here and not know what happened to him! She saw the young knight grip his ribs from the pain but then he ran toward her. She backed away at first but let him help her up.
'Arthur Pendragon,' She heard Helios say in his smooth voice. Taunting the king. 'I've heard many things about you.' The knight put an arm around her, but she could tell he had trouble standing up, so instead she put his arm on her shoulders, "We can't leave him." She whispered, as Helios spoke again, 'Had I known you wanted the girl, I would have shared.' Guinevère took back as she watched the men, and had to hold back a scream as Helios moved forward with a strong attack. "We need to leave," The knight said but neither of them moved, clearly unable to leave their king.

"I just want to lie down next to you and the children, and hold you for the rest of the night." He assured her and Guinevère smiled up at him softly, knowing that she had to had faith in him and everyone working for them. She had to be strong and not let her fear make him dead on his feet. "Then we should join our children, and rest for a while."
It would be hard, but she would be strong, and start being the person and queen that he needed to her to be, rather then how she had been. She had done what she believed to be the best at the time, but after speaking with Arthur, she was seeing that she really had not been ready to rule. Having kindness toward the people was only half of what you needed.

Four days. He would be able in four days. Surely that was enough time to clear their minds and let them think about how things would be happening, and the details of their lives. Yes, four days was time enough! She would make it time enough. No matter what. Yet she knew that four days would still not be enough to forget two and a half years.
He apologized and her heart beat painfully while she tried to force a smile but it fell after even a second of trying. "Then in four days I will meet you in the apple trees, were you found me today." She told him, "He likes it there. He likes to run." Or try too as he was still learning balance and speed. Arthur could play with him there, and she could peel apples or bring her sewing while watching them. She could not speak on his apology yet, for she wasn't sure what to say. " . . . . Until then."

Guinevère looked up when Arthur entered and she rose to her feet to walk over too him. He spoke of leaving the paper work for another day and she wondered if he was tired. Apart of her was afraid for him to sleep--or for her to sleep. What if he never awakened? What if she did and it was all a dream?
"Are you tired?" She asked, "Or hungry? You should eat something." If he was tired she knew she had to let him sleep, even she was tired, yet she was still afraid of waking and finding tonight a lie or a dream. She had a thousand questions as well, but did not wish to over load him, so for now--for tonight--she would do what was best for him. Tomorrow they could do what was best for the kingdom.

Kolby bowed his head at the order to remain here and guard the heir. "I will remain here then, and continue to keep the Pendragon line alive." For once his reply was serious, a sign no doubt of how serious he took his job here as a knight. "I will go an ready a list, so you will have it with all haste. Though some names on it might surprise you, and some names on it might not."
Bowing his head he turned and exited to leave the king alone with his thoughts, not waiting for a dismissal. Everything had changed when they made this plan, and there was still much yet left for the king to discover--some of it, Kobly was rather glad that he did not have to be the one to tell him. Until then, they had to keep moving forward.

Guinevère fell to the ground as the warlord known as Helios pushed her aside in favor of the knight whom had come to her aid. She watched as the men exchanged blows, and the younger knight of Camelot seemed skilled but Helios did as well. She feared which man would fall. Her eyes looked toward the battle field, knowing they were not in Camelot yet the field was filled with the bright hopeful red.
Arthur! She saw him there in the mist of the battle, fighting men that did not seem to fall! A cry of pain had her turning back to the battle of the knight and Helios as the warlord got in a blow and the younger knight feel back. "NO!" She screamed as she looked and grabbed a near by stick to give the knight aid. When she struck Helios, he turned to swing his sword at her only just missing most of her. Her cheek held a thin red line where the tip caught her as she fell again to the ground.
Helios used the moment to look over the battle before him, and she noticed the knight did too. Hopeless. They were all going to fall here! The younger knight pulled the somewhat golden sword from where he carried it on his back and pushed to a stand. "ARTHUR!" He called as she spun to throw the sword toward Arthur, and Helios moved again to use the distraction to down the knight. Guinevère's cry of NO this time was louder and more frantically high pitch as she reached out to grab Helio's foot and shorten the blow. He kicked her in the ribs, to shake her off, but at least his low had not been mortal.

Arthur sat there for a while watching their son sleep, and Guinevère watched him watching their son. When he finally did rise up and turn to look at her, she felt her heart beat painfully. He thanked her, and claimed their son was perfect--an ideal she was in agreement on. He was perfect. Perfect for her and her life in every single way. He was half Arthur, and half her. Half prince and . . .
"You will return in a few days then?" She asked, trying to keep the emotion from her tone but not quite keeping it such. "If you wish we could have a belated birthday party." So he could have that moment with his son if he wanted. "Or plan a walk somewhere to get him out of the house for a while . . . We can do both or either. You can decide when you return." Not today. Today everything was still too fresh.

SO MANY! Animals to touch and play with! HOW were they even allowed?! That was when she knew why they were being allowed to do these things. When her mind caught up to be reasonable. Money. There was no other reason that she would be doing this then Arthur making a 'donation' to the zoo. "Arthur," She said his name very seriously, because this was important to her. She waited until he looked into her eyes and gave it a moment so he would see just how important her next words were to him.
"Thank you for this." She said slowly, knowing that he had more then 'planned' this, and wanting him to know that she more then thought it just simply wonderful. Stretching up slightly she kissed his lips softly but lingering. When she pulled back just enough to whisper her next words their lips brushed, "And you need not fear, I am not afraid to get dirty." Then she kissed his again a little more suggestive before."
