Riding through the bustling castle town of Camelot, Isadora paid more attention to the activity of the peasants, so busy with the morning market, than to where she was headed. It wasn't like she was in danger of getting lost; her escort of knights, adorned with the blue and black crest of Gwent, rode both in front and behind her, ensuring that no one got too near the princess, and effectively ensuring Isadora couldn't get lost in an unfamiliar city. She smiled at those who paused in their business to bow or curtsy respectfully, giving a slight inclination of her head to return their respect before she let her gaze move on.
She was startled by how foreign the place seemed; she seemed to recall spending a great deal of time in Camelot as a child, yet she found very little of what she saw struck any sort of remembrance in her. Thinking back, she hadn't spent very much time in the town itself when she was young, having instead been kept mostly to the castle, which had been more than entertaining enough for a young girl. Never mind that she had her own castle back in Gwent, this one had been shiny and new, the earliest place besides Caerleon she could recall spending time in. It had been so exciting back then, and she wondered if it would feel the same now. She could see the main gate now, white stone towering over the huddled masses of wooden structures imposingly, and she supposed she would find out soon.

My Lord, someone is approaching the gate!
Arthur looked at the knight who announced this and quickly stood up. The king was out of the castle for the day, and so he was left with all responsibilities. Not that he wasn't usually already, but he was now primarily responsible. He was not fully clad in his armor, just his casual wear as he had not planned on leaving the castle for any errands today. Both men of the royal family could not be absent; who knows what could happen! He did however have his sword attached to his side, just in case. With all the attacks and stranger visitors in Camelot, one could never be too sure. He made his way down the hall, first, going to the balcony area so that he could get a proper view of who this unexpected visitor was.
Royalty. He saw the flags and immediately recognized them. His gaze them shifted to the woman in between both knights. Recognition of who she was hit him, even though it had been years and years since he saw her. Even though the last time he saw her was when they had been children. Would he have recognized her had the crests not been present? Who knows. Either way, he was rather glad to see her for they did share fond childhood memories, and this eased his concern for it was replaced with excitement. He quickly made his way down, motioning for the guards to open the gates so that she would not have to wait any longer. He would be there to personally greet her when the gates were opened, and he could get a closer look at her rather than a far away glance.

Halting outside the heavy wooden grate that served as Camelot's main castle gate, Isadora leaned forward on her saddle horn, reaching forward to stroke the neck of her bay mare affectionately while the lead knight shouted greetings to the guards at the gate, lest they decide they were enemies of the state and start pelting them with arrows. That was certainly not how Isadora had envisioned returning to Camelot.
They had sent word of their visit in advance, but thanks to good riding conditions that had allowed them to ride longer each day, they had arrived a few days earlier than anticipated. Isadora was glad, she preferred to spend less time on the road if she could. She looked up when she heard the creak of the gate opening, and she straightened up in her saddle, peering around the shoulders of the knight riding in front of her briefly. Despite her exhaustion from the long ride, she was excited to have finally arrived, it reminded her of when she was small and she and her father would make the journey here together, and she was looking forward to seeing Prince Arthur again.
She didn't have long to wait, it seemed, as she rode through the gate, she could see a young man approaching from the castle quickly, and from the deference the other knights showed him as he passed by, she felt certain that he was Prince Arthur, and she smiled brightly. He was so...tall! It was really all she could make out from here, but it was, in itself, startling. She remembered when she was taller than he was. Those days were over, it appeared. She pulled up on the reigns, bringing her horse to a halt as the castle hostlers approached. "Arthur? Is that really you?" She called out laughingly as he came closer.

The closer he got to her, the more he recognized her . . . and yet, the more different she looked. This sort of change was inevitable, especially after not having seen each other for so long . . . but there were some faces that one did not forget. Especially a dear friends. She had become an exquisite beauty indeed, with delicate features and an aura of kindness that was easy to recognize. He smiled, moving to the side of her so that he could personally help her down from her horse. It was something reserved for guests of honor, and she certainly fell under that category. He motioned for his men to tend to the guards, while he would help Isadora. "My Lady Isadora," he greeted, still smiling as he offered his hands to help her dismount from her horse.
"Its been far too long." By neither of their faults. When they were children, they had less responsibility than they had now. But she was the sole heir of her kingdom, as was he. Something they had in common . . . something that they could both relate to . . . pressures that they both understood. But even as mature adults, he still held on to those juvenile memories as they were something he would never forget. He would wait for her to get off her horse before asking her any questions . . . for they had a lot of catching up to do.

Isadora found herself staring at Prince Arthur as he approached, comparing the man to her memories of the boy, her recognition laced with startled surprise. She knew she shouldn't be surprised, of course he'd grown up, but she had still half-expected to see an eleven year old bounding down the castle stairs in his father's wake. Arthur had been a cute child --not that she would ever have thought so when she was younger-- so why did it seem so surprising that he was a handsome man? Especially when you coupled it with the rumors of how girls fell over themselves for the young prince, there was no reason that her expectations should clash so with reality.
She smiled at his greeting, at least he recognized her. With his assistance, she slipped from the saddle easily; he was strong, too. "Much too long." She agreed, tilting her head up to look him in the eye; she had to look up to see him! That wasn't unusual, men were usually taller than Isadora, but it was somewhat disorienting to think that this was her childhood friend. "I trust you've been well?" He appeared to be in good health, but her question covered a broader scope than simply his immediate health. It had been nearly a decade since she'd seen him last, that was a lot to account for. Seeing her so closely, was like an instant comfort as it reminded him of fond years. "You look positively ravishing My Lady,"He said as he lightly kissed the top of his hand. He was never shy or timid about flattering a woman. It would be absolutely wonderful to spend time with her . . . and her extreme beauty would not hurt to look at in the least bit. While Arthur did not necessarily wear his heart on his sleeve, and instantly fall in love, he was still a young man who appreciated the beauty around him. . . and it would be a lie to say that he was not attracted to who used to be a young girl, and now turned into an alluring woman.
"I have," he answered not wanting to get into the details of what have been going on while they were standing. He would wait for them to be seated at a meal, or perhaps a ride around the kingdom. "And how have you been?" He hoped all was well with her, and that this visit wasn't one that bared bad news. He continued to smile, offering his arm to escort her into the castle. He hoped she planned to stay for a while. "I hope that all is well in Gwent," he added, just wanting to make sure her father was healthy, and the kingdom was in a stable state.

Isadora couldn't help but giggle softly at his compliment, it seemed that all she'd heard of the young Lord Arthur's flirtatious ways was true; why wasn't she surprised? "Why thank you, My Lord, I must say, you've become quite handsome yourself." She replied indulgently, and why not? Arthur was already very confident, with good reason; she wasn't lying when she said he was handsome, and it was well known, even as far off as Gwent, that he was also skilled in the arts of combat, having won championships for years past.
She nodded when he inquired about how she was doing, and smiled. "I am quite well, thank you. A little weary from the journey, but nothing a bit of rest and a hot meal won't cure." She answered, when she had left her home at Caerleon, everything had been well in order, and even her father's health was looking up. She hated to leave when he wasn't feeling well, since that could be the last she'd see of him. She nodded again. "Of course, we're prospering." Like Arthur, she did not wish to go into the details right here and now, out in the courtyard.

Arthur smiled. It was always nice to hear a beautiful woman compliment you . . . flirtations were far more fun if it was not solely one sided. "Thank you," he said proudly. "I'm glad you noticed," he added jokingly, just playing around with her comment. He had not seen her in so many years and yet . . . it felt as if they have been in each others company far more frequently than they actually had. There was no awkward silence, no uncertainty as what to say. It was completely comfortable, and that was one of the reasons he considered her a close friend . . . maybe eventually something more.
"That is certainly understandable. Was your journey safe?" While they would have time to catch up with everything, he wanted to ask the basic questions to ensure that no danger had befallen her on her way to Camelot. The safety of anyone in the kingdom was his responsibility and so if someone did something, especially to a royal guest of honor, Arthur would have to deal with it immediately. "I do hope you'll dine with us tonight. Unless of course the journey has tired you too much. The most important thing for you to do is rest and regain your energy." While Arthur was anxious to spend time with her, he was not inconsiderate of her health. He doubted she would be leaving as soon as tomorrow anyway. She had traveled this far; to leave so quickly would have practically been a wasted journey.

Isadora smiled, he was confident, yes. Maybe even bordering on cocky? There was nothing wrong with that, really, especially since she was only visiting for a short time. "Much better without the mud on your face, I have to say." She added teasingly, referring to childhood memories; she seemed to recall Morgana having a fondness for shoving Arthur down in the mud whenever the opportunity arose. She was surprised he was as arrogant as he seemed to be with her around, but she supposed being the only son of a king would bring on more positive attention than even Morgana's efforts could negate.
She nodded. "Indeed, entirely uneventful and dreadfully boring. And I wouldn't want it any other way." An eventful journey was never a good thing for a princess, it usually meant bandits or would-be kidnappers, she much preferred being bored silly to scared stiff, any day. "Thank you for your consideration, but I think I will be quite recovered in time for dinner. I'd be honored to join you." She would be staying with them for a few days at least, but while she was tired, she figured she'd be just fine in time for dinner; besides, it would be rude to refuse the invitation from an old friend. Arthur made a bit of a face as he recalled the memories that Isadora spoke of. He would pretend he had not. "Actually, I think you're a bit mistaken. She used to try to push me in the mud, but never succeeded." The imagine of him with his face dirty was far from flattering. Especially around her; so that was certainly not the image he wanted to portray at this time. After all, he was more masculine than allowing Morgana to gain the upper hand on him.
"I was far too gentleman like to ever push back. Something that you and her should keep in mind." It was his way of justifying any loss he had suffered as a child. "I would not want to hurt either of you when you were, and I'm sure still are so delicate," he said teasingly. He of course did not have that impression of them necessarily. He knew Morgana at least had been trained with a weapon, and he did not doubt that Isadora had skills that would allow her to fight back to some extent, whether physically or verbally, when caught in a dangerous situation.
"Well I will ensure your stay here is anything but boring. Seeing as you have not been here for many years, I will offer you the greatest honor of all; my company. For a personal tour of the kingdom." He was yet again, acting a bit more cocky than he really was. "Its a shame your father could not join you. How is his health?" King Alistair was a man that Arthur deeply respected and so it was regrettable that he could not come, but he knew that it was difficult for him to travel, especially during such long journeys.
