Everything seemed to be going so well; until the king went mad. Guinevère was worried for Arthur, and of course for the king as well. She knew all too well what it was like to lose a father and she wished with very breath in her body that Arthur did not come to face this soon. Even if it allowed her to be with him openly and freely. She did not want that to come at the cost of his father.
She knew that the men and the people were growing restless, but surely this was just stress. She did not gossip about what was going on in the upper rooms of the castle for she did not want to aid in the king's downfall if this grew worse. But it would not, because she had to have faith that things would get better.
The king's personal servant needed to go and speak with Gaius and had asked Guinevère to deliver a pitcher of water to the king's room. Gwen did not like the idea of going into the king's personal rooms but she liked to help others out so she promised she would. She knocked twice before entering the rooms and then walked in with her dead down and did her best not to look around . . . even if the room was a mess. Maybe she should pick it up a bit? Clean rooms could make people feel better?
She sat the pitcher down, and began to pick up some of the items on the floor. She peeked around trying to see where the king was she she could not disturb him.

He was still lying in bed, where Gaius had led him after his lashing out and messing up a lot of things around the room. He wasn't very responsive to Gwen's movement around the room, his mind fixated on what he had just seen out near the well. It had been frightening but not intolerable at first, the drowned children, the people he'd killed. But this was different. This was horrifying and devastating and shocking all at once. He knew it was her, he'd never forget her face, her body.
"It was her...I saw her. I KNOW it was her. It could be no one else!" He'd been saying this on and off since Gaius had been there and was still insisting the same things to Gwen. He wasn't really cognant of who was who,not completely aware of who Gwen was, although he'd known Gaius, and he'd recognize Arthur or Morgana probably. "I know my wife, I can never forget her. It was her!"

Gwen jumped slightly at the king's works. Knew it was who? Was who. . . . oohhh. Oh dear. She looked back at the door before looking back at the king. She'd heard rumors that he was slipping, but seeing it for her self made everything more real, more frightening. She worried for Arthur, for if his father was slipping away then he would have more pressure on him.
As much as she feared the king as well, she knew loss. Everyone one of her family members were either dead (one by his order) or missing. He must be hurting greatly about this time. She walked edgingly closer before pausing a few feet away. She stood there for a moment before she stepped closer and silently pulled the bed sheets up around him so he would be warmer. She did not know what to say, but she hoped it would help him sleep.
