Arthur could not describe his emotions right now. He could not get a handle on them, or sort them out, or do anything. Nothing. All he felt was his heart breaking and everything else was just numb. He just kept looking out the window, something he had been doing since the sun had rose. He could not look and yet he could not tear his eye sight away. He felt as if his very world was shattering . . . and there was nothing he could do. She would be dragged out to the square, tied to the stake and . . . Arthur could not even complete the thought. It was too much. Too overwhelming. Too . . . painful. If she . . . if it happened, he would die right along with her.
His mind thought back to last night, when his father had sentenced her, when he gave him such a cold look, when Arthur vowed never to forgive him, when she was taken away, and when he pulled himself away from the guards hold for one last kiss. It couldn't be the last time he would ever kiss her. His mind would not let him come to terms with this, and it would forever slip into a world of denial. Until it finally sunk in that he would not see her every day . . . she would not grace the halls with her presence, or light it up with her jovial, angelic smile. He would never be able to compliment her again, or hold her in his arms, or just be with her. No. This could not be the end.
Arthur pulled out a piece of cloth from his pocket, the piece of cloth she had once given him . . . to wear for luck. He just looked down at it. It was more than a worn piece of fabric. It was the only thing he had that belonged to her. A token of her affection. He had not noticed a tear stain the piece of cloth, even though it was from his own eye. He swallowed hard, trying to swallow all the emotions that were starting to surface as The Time was drawing nearer. He could not watch her die. He would not. He would run and burn himself at the stake with her, because every flame that burned her body, would burn his as well. whether he was there or not. He gripped the cloth tightly before returning his gaze to outside the window, where he was now stared, without really seeing anything at all.

Bloody 'ell! Kolby was not sure who was slipping more into madness; the king the prince or the himself for even bothering. He spoke to his commander, while his mind was thinking a few steps ahead. Kolby by nature was not one to think and plan. His skills were in his actions not his thoughts. His commander was a good man, and he could see that the man was having his own troubles with dealing with this. Still, there was a difference between knowing something was wrong and believing something was wrong. Kolby believed.
He left the man he had the up most respect for and paused a moment to look at him before turning to walk away. The next time they came face to face; Kolby knew that they might not be speaking as friends. He headed down the halls and up the steps of the castle he'd come to call home and gave a formal yet slightly casual bow nod like bow to the knights out side the prince's door before entering with out knocking. He shut the door and walked deeper inside to come to stand near the table.
Kolby took the last few steps he dared so he could rest a hip against it in a casual manner. "I hope she is worth it." He said as a way of bring up the topic, but he did not let the words linger (he did not want the prince to kill him); "Treason, I mean. Because helping you is what my actions would be." Kolby had known for over a year that the prince was seeing a bit to much of the servant girl. While he did not approve at first, he had known better then to speak up against the prince's choice. While Kolby still saw this as a step below the prince, he respected his friend enough not to speak up or stand in his way. "You're under constant watch, Arthur, you can't get to her. I can."

Arthur did not bother to look at who entered. He paid them no attention. It was only when the person spoke that he immediately knew who it was. Familiarity of the voice put aside, he knew that there was only one man who would say such a thing at this time. Sir Kolby. But Arthur was not in the mood. He could not even be angry. He was just . . . devastated. He did not have the energy to lash out at anyone, or shoo him a glare. He just kept looking out the window. And let Kolby speak because once he started, there was no stopping him.
"You're under constant watch, Arthur, you can't get to her. I can." This forced Arthur to miraculously turn his gaze from the window and towards Kolby. Hope was a dangerous thing, especially in a time like this. He could not afford such an offer from him. It was only when Kolby said this, that his words before that began to register in the Prince's mind. Worth it. Treason. He could get to her. Arthur was not even dwelling over the fact that his friend knew about his relationship with her. But wait, did this mean he believed that he was not enchanted? Arthur would only question such things when the thought of losing Gwen did not haunt and torment his mind.
"How." He said in a defeated voice. Yes, he could get into the dungeon, but the question became, what would happen next? His eyes were wide with fear and filled with such sadness and he could not bare to look at his friend again. Instead, he looked at the ground, and then back out the window, at the stake.

How? Really now, the prince was not using his pretty little head was he? Kolby was not a thinker, he did not plan things. He was HERE because he did not have a plan. If he had a plan, he'd have done it and then worried about how to tell the prince he'd done it. "If I knew how, I would not be here. I am not under watch, I am a high ranking knight; name one person who'd question my orders--besides, Leon." Leon was a good man, but honestly Kolby was trying to avoid crossing paths with him at the moment. Or anyone who out ranked him.
Kolby pushed off from the table and walked slowly closer while speaking;"I am not being watched, if you can help me think up a plan I can get her out. Then you can either know she is safe or join her if you wish." He was hoping not the later part of all this. He paused standing next to the window and leaned on the wall beside it. "I would prefer a plan which did not involve getting me caught." Kolby looked out the window casually and paused before asking a a shocked tone. "You're watching this?!"

Arthur had only really been half expecting Kolby to have an answer. He was at such a loss, and filled with so much grief that even he could not concoct a plan right now. Sir Leon. Maybe he could them as well? No. Arthur could not ask him for the same reason he had not asked Sir Kolby for his help. He would never put one of his men and friends in that position. He would accept Kolby's help for he came and offered it to him, but he would not ask for it thus creating a difficult decision: to defy the king and risk treason, or to help a close friend. Arthur just continued to look outside, not saying anything or averting his gaze to his friend when he joined him in staring out the window. Arthur was registering all of his friend's words. The more he spoke about it, the greater confirmation the Prince was getting that Kolby did not believe this was an enchantment. Then again, he probably wouldn't have offered to help him if he thought that it was.
A surge of hope filled Arthur and while this was a very dangerous thing, it was also enough to make him realize that he could in fact do something. That he did not have to say goodbye to Guinevère today. That that desperate kiss in the throne room would not be their last. That there was a hope for a future between them. Arthur ignored the shocked comment, and turned to face Kolby, his expression and tone of voice now transforming from defeat and sorrow, to one of more determination.
"If we can arrange the guards to be changed at a certain time, and then somehow delay the change in shifts, then it should be enough time for either you or I, to get to her. There is a tunnel that leads from the dungeon to outside," Arthur began to recall, as they had once used it to break Mordred out. "If you can meet me on the other side and release the bars," Since they were already somewhat lose. "Then we can escape before anyone notices she is missing." Arthur spoke collectively; saying 'we' so that Kolby would know he intended to go with her.
"She will never be safe in Camelot now that the King believes she is a sorcerer," he added, wanting Kolby to understand that this was the reason he had to go with her. He was willing to leave with her when she was banished, and so he would not send her off on her own now, when she was a fugitive in his kingdom. He did not even want to be in a kingdom where she was a fugitive. It was something he could not even pretend to agree with.

There were to many flaws in that plan, for Kolby to feel comfort with. No, they were not doing that! The prince would just have to think a little harder! "It's not going to work. If you try to change anything with the knights routines the king will know you are up to something. We need a good old fashioned distraction plan. Think harder!" He demanded but not in a desperate tone. The whole comment came out as if he was only have paying attention to Arthur.
"And you can't leave with her. Not at first anyway. Anytime someone escapes from the castle--something that has been happening at an alarming rate by the way--the King will give a little chase but stop at the border. If you are here, the king will not order his men to cross the border." Kolby could think about some aspects of plans but not others. He never did get good at thinking outside the box; "You will have to either let her go, or meet her later. If you leave wit her . . . . . . Just look what he made us do with the lady Morgana! He will order us to hunt you down and drag you both back."

There was no time to think of another plan. Their time was very limited as she was being burned at the stake today. The thought made Arthur feel sick, but if this plan worked . . . then she would be alive, and he would be with her. "Then you can distract them," Arthur said simply, implying that he was not in fact going to change this plan. "Merlin can remove the bars for us." Arthur knew Merlin was willing to help, willing to do anything to save her. While it was also risking his life, he knew that as a close friend of Gwen's, he was not willing to just let her die either . . . as he had just barged into his room and informed him that they could not let this happen. "Besides, we've done something of this sort before," he mumbled vaguely, not going into too much detail over the rescue Mordred mission. The less Kolby knew, the better. Though at this point, he could already be punished for his knowledge and offers.
Arthur knew the plan was reckless, risky, and extremely dangerous. But he did not care. The only thing he had to lose was Guinevère and at least going with her would provide him with a better chance of protecting her, rather than doing nothing which would only guarantee her death. "I'm not sending her out there by herself," he said stubbornly, as if the subject was not up for debate. "She will have a better chance of getting away if I'm with her." As Arthur previously stated, they had managed to get away with this before. He knew his men, he had trained them, he knew how to eliminate his trail, though it would be more difficult in the middle of the day.
Then an idea struck him. "You can lead the knights in the search for us. Lead them to the opposite direction than where I am going. It will buy us some time to get as far away from Camelot as possible. Everyone knows you know me extremely well and so they will believe you if you direct them a certain way." Arthur paused for a moment, not ignorant of all that he was asking of his friend. "If you can not do this Kolby, I understand and will never hold it against you." He would not consider Kolby any less of a friend for not doing this; but if he did do it, he would be more of a friend than Arthur could ever describe.

They've done this before? Oh joy. That filled with with confidence. He was working for professional jail breakers. "I really don't want to know of your past misdeeds." He told the prince, trying not learn of all the misdeeds. If he was asked, he could just shrug his shoulders and claim he was as clueless as most people assumed he was at times. Kolby wasn't an idiot. He knew more then he let on but just wasn't the type to use the knowledge he gained.
"I don't know the details of your past misdeeds, but let me point out two very awkward facts. One would be the knights your father has glued to your side, so that he will know if you attempt to see her. You can not get to her. In order to do so I would have to form a plan to distract over 30 people in over 12 locations. . . . . I am honored with the fact you think I am so dashingly distracting but COME ON! A man has his limits!"
"The other is the simple fact that SHOULD I manage to draw every eye of Camelot away from the door, it would only be for under a minute. Seconds really before they go back to their posts and notice She'd Gone!" His tone changed from his forever mocking and teasing to a very real tone, "Look at what happened to her father. Once she takes a step out of that cell room, the king will have her killed upon sight. If the plan fails at any second along the way you will not have to watch her burn, you will have to watch the men you call brothers follow orders. They don't want that, you have no idea how hard it is for us to follow the king's orders when it means betraying our general."
"If I could not do this, I would not be here. I happen to know it was not an enchantment that made you . . . with her. I've known for almost two years." Then his face changed! "Two years! Lady Jane! I think I have a a plan! No one has to get hurt!"

Arthur was barley listening to Kolby. Logic was not in the Prince's mind right now. All he could think about was finding that shred of hope to get her out . . . and leave Camelot with her so that he could protect her. So that his father's wrath would no longer be upon her. And so, Arthur spaced out, mentally formulating a plan. Despite the risk. Despite the technicalities. Despite everything that would not make it work. The only thing completely unacceptable was standing there, and watching her get burned at the stake.
It was not until Kolby began to speak about how he had known for so long. It should not have been a total shock, and yet it was surprising at the same time. The fact that he had known could both be a positive thing, or a negative thing. No. Right now, it was definitely a good thing for it was why he was offering to help. Had he thought it was an enchantment, he would not have been risking his own life to help Arthur . . . for he knew that if the King were to find out about Kolby helping Gwen escape, he would be severely punished. Arthur's focus went back onto the knight, as he was now fully paying attention again. "What is your plan?" Arthur asked in a very monotone voice. Everything inside of him felt numb. He could not bring himself to expose any more emotions for he was afraid he would lose any sort of composure he was managing to maintain right now.
