She just sat there and smiled up at him as he once again swore he did not snore. When he asked what she'd compared him to she only grinned brighter and repeated the words she had said that day; "I thought a little pig had gotten into the house." He was NOT that bad, but he was a prince then and she had enjoyed teasing him in one of the few ways she could. Now that he was king and they were more at ease with each other she did not see why she should stop.
"I happen to have be getting used to the sound." She kept teasing, referring to how she had been sleeping in his bed--even when they where not being intimate. In the days after he'd won the kingdom back she knew that the weight of the kingdom and the change would weight heavy on him, and she had a few nightmares of her time under Morgana's rule. They'd spent a few nights just holding each other. "I would miss it if you stopped."

Arthur made a face as she so easily told him that he had sounded like a pig when he snored. He didn't like the sound of that at all, and he doubted he liked hearing it the first time. But of course, if it didn't disturb her sleeping -- as her next words suggested -- then he supposed it wasn't too huge of a deal. But still. He didn't like to hear that he sounded like a pig. "I don't sound like a pig," he argued defiantly, though not overly angrily. He knew she was just teasing, so the way his words came out sounded more juvenile than anything. He fought a smile and just kept on the front of pretending to be offended by the comparison to sounding like an animal -- though of course, he wasn't genuinely offended.
"I may have to ask Gaius if there is some sort of remedy for that," he added, thinking aloud . . . only half kidding with his statement. "You would really miss it if I stopped?" He asked, unsure if he actually believed that. If she did, maybe he wouldn't be so inclined to find a solution for it. After all, her opinion was what mattered the most to him since one day they would be married and sleeping next to each other every night. "I can't imagine anyone missing something that makes it sound like a pig got inside the room," he added . . . again, only somewhat kidding.

"You would really miss it if I stopped?" Yes. She really thought she would miss it. "I like knowing your there." She told him, trying to explain why she liked the little sounds he made. It fit him in a way too; the manly sounds that he made while sleeping. Her father had snored as well, but it had been driffernt. She had not even realized she missed the non-silance until the first night he'd spent in her bed. While she had been in an almost other room, the sounds had been oddly comforting.
She could recall the surprise in find out out that the golden perfection that he was, all handsome and strong did something as common as a snoring. It had made him seem more real; less . . . the untouchable golden light at the top of the throne. Something meant to be admired in his youthfull glory; rather then touched. "It's a comforting reminder."

"I like knowing your there." This time, Arthur could not refrain from smiling. He liked hearing that; that something as simple -- and loud, apparently -- as snoring gave her that comfort at night. To remind her that she was near him. "Well if it comforts you, then I will not be so quick to find a way to get rid of it." Yes. Get rid of his ability to snore. Surely, there had to be a way? But, maybe it was not necessary after all. He didn't care if Merlin said anything about it. Surely Arthur did not do it every night. But even so, he was too afraid to ask. He had a feeling he would not like the answer, so best to leave the subject alone.
"One day, you will not need to be reminded for it will an expected frequency." He was talking about the time when they were married. She would not need to be reminded that he was right there, for every night he would be. Every night he would be able to hold her without that knowledge that told them they could not spend every night together. He seemed to vaguely remember the two of them talking about a time when they would be married -- apart from whatever mention they made of it in the recent past. All that was missing now, was the formal proposal. But Arthur did not forget the queen's crown, her jewels, and the ring in his safe, so he must be planning it for a time in the somewhat near future . . . hopefully.

She smiled up brightly at him; "I like that," She told him, "Of knowing that one day it will be . . . . that will just be." Liked knowing that when they spoke of 'one day' now, it was not fear of his father that kept their lips sealed; but out of respect to his new title and the people he served with it. It was their CHOICE rather then a king's prejudice that keep them still mum about 'them'.
Still, the idea of waking up to every dawn with him was something she wanted. The since of family that it would bring to know that he would be the last thing she saw every night and the first one she's see everyone morning. To know that children would follow one day, from their marriage. To know that she could wake up every morning with his strong heart beating under her ear as she used his chiseled chest as a pillow, and his strong muscled arms as a blanket to warm her. . . .

That day was something for both of them to look forward to. And in the meantime they could find comfort with each other on those select days, whether they be based on circumstances, which seemed to be the case most of the time. But to think that one day they would not need to find an excuse, was just something greatly anticipated. "Hopefully not too long now," he added in a low voice, wondering if he had told her about the crown and jewels in the safe, waiting to be worn by her. He was unsure if he wanted to ask, just in case there was some undetermined reason as to why he hadn't. He knew with the rate that his memory was returning, it was only a matter of hours before it was fully restored.
"Have we talked a lot about our future together?" As husband and wife. He just wanted to know if he was missing larger details. He of course was aware of the fact that they were practically engaged . . . that they were committed to each other in their hearts, even if it was missing with that formal union of a marriage. "I remember us talking of having children," he said smiling, not wanting her to think that he remembered nothing of such conversations. He knew that they had talked about that on their picnic in the woods.

They've talked about the future, some. Never in the immediate since, but more in the long term. After she had agreed to wait for him, they had stopped debating over the 'now' and started just looking forward to the future. "Some," She admitted.
"Nothing certain or set in stone. Mostly just what we wanted from the future, how we'd like it go." Children. Yes! She wanted a few of them. "Yes," She said in an almost whisper, seeming to forget about the fabric in her hands that she'd yet to start working on. "We've spoke of children. One day." Her eyes trailed off tot he side as she was thinking both about the conversations they'd had and the children she'd like to have.
When her eyes found his again she smiled, "You must be remembering quite a bit--" She stopped and looked toward the door as she thought she'd heard someone yelling 'get down' or 'sit' or both; but then there was a bit of silence so she ignored it and looked back at him. "You must be remembering quite a bit if you can recall talking of children that day in---" This time she knew she had heard barking! Close barking!

Children. The thought made Arthur both excited and horribly nervous. Excited because, well . . . he wanted children. He wanted to be a father, and he knew Guinevère would make the perfect mother. He wanted either a son or daughter, or both! At the same time, he was nervous, for Guinevère's sake mostly. Considering it was how his own mother had died -- giving birth to him -- it made Arthur afraid that he could lose Guinevère in that way. But with their mood so uplifted right now, it was easier to focus on the one, rather than the other. He listened to her speak -- or try to speak -- of how much he was remembering, but her words were suddenly cut off by some commotion that was going on outside. He heard someone throwing out commands, which created a bit of silence. So Arthur was not too distracted, as Guinevère tried to speak again.
But this time, she was cut off by the barking that was right near the door. And Arthur instantly realized what was going on. "Just a moment," he said as he quickly stood up and hurried to the door. As soon as he opened it, two rather large rottweilers had been waiting eagerly on the other end. With a second to think or give them an order then burst into his room, running about. The guard who had been to walk them just looked at Arthur, exasperated and evidently out of breath. "I'm sorry Sir. We were going to take them out for their daily exercise but we were having difficulty controlling them." Arthur didn't mind keeping them here; in fact, with everything that had been happening, he hadn't realized until now that he had not seen his companions for several days.
"That's alright. I will keep them here." The guard looked rather relieved and with those words, Arthur closed the door once again and turned to face his two dogs. They were obedient, but mostly to Arthur. His mind went back to the time they had chased Merlin around the city, knocking over market stalls and such. They were enormous dogs, and could look menacing . . . but in actuality, they were just extremely hyper, and rather friendly. He smiled as he looked at them. They were near Guinevère, sniffing her, trying to familiarize themselves with the unknown person in the room they often spent time in. "Guinevère, have you met Cabal and Bohrs?" He said it as half a question and half an introduction. With the way she had her feet tucked up, she either had not been in their presence before, or she was still uncomfortable around them. Had she met them at all during the past three years? He was about to find out the answer, based on her full reaction.

Guinevère watched as he got up and walked to the door. Where their dogs in the hall? As a lady's handmaiden she had not spent much time with any of the castle's dogs. Various knights owned some dogs, but she'd never been close to them. They were always walked and kept away from the ladies and nobles as dogs were seen as weapons allot of times rather then 'pets' of a true source. Mostly from what she knew knights didn't even really spend time with their 'pets' until it was time to go hunting or tracking.
Her eyes widened a little as the two large beast hurdled themselves into the room! When they came right for her she remembered seeing Merlin run for his life once from them! She pulled her feet up into the chair, "Guinevère, have you met Cabal and Bohrs?"
No! She had not! She knew he would never let anything near her that would hurt her but the memory of Merlin running and then knowing these were the animals called in to track down and bring down pray and villains kept playing in her mind. One of them put it's nose hear her foot and she slid it back; but it seemed encouraged and put it's front paws up on the free space in the seat as if it would CLIMB UP IN HER CHAIR WITH HER! "Arthur!" She called, alarmed before standing and moving so she sat on the table, once again trucking her feet up under her. The dog just climbed into the chair, while the other one put it's front paws up on the TABLE and gave a bark at her!

Alright, so she had never met his dogs before. Not based on her reaction from seeing them. She seemed . . . scared? Was that the right word? It didn't surprise him. Those who did not know of their 'harmless' nature were often scared of them because they were hyper and almost always energetic. He knew he shouldn't laugh but he couldn't help and let out a few chuckles at her apparent fear. At the way they sniffed her foot and she recoiled from them, making her way on to the table to create distance from them. But of course, they were too curious to just let her be. When one crept towards her, and barked at her, Arthur stood a few feet from it. "Cabal, sit," he told him in an authoritative voice; one that they complied with. He did as he was told, but kept his gazed focused on Guinevère.
Arthur moved towards him, scratching him behind the ear as he began to pant with excitement. "Bohrs, down," he ordered his other canine who was on the chair trying to sniff the woman that they weren't used to. Bohrs did as he was told, and jumped off the chair, standing next to master. When Arthur took his other hand and patted him on the head, he grew excited by such affection and rolled on his back, his paws sticking up in the air, waiting to be rubbed on his belly. Arthur slightly shook his head at his less than menacing self, before looking at Guinevère. "Don't worry Guinevère. They're harmless," he assured her, knowing they didn't exactly have that reputation. But she was probably going to be seeing them a lot more often than anyone else . . . since she spent the most time in his chambers.
It was actually quite surprising that he had not made the introduction earlier. Though it made sense; with all that had happened, there mustn't have been time to just relax in his chambers. Which is why this day was so special; so rare. He took a couple more steps towards the table, offering his hand to help her down, to encourage her to come down. "You have nothing to be afraid of," he added, as Bohrs continued to roll around the ground and Cabal cocked his head to the side, his ears perking up a little bit as he was still trying to become familiar with her scent.

"Don't worry Guinevère. They're harmless," He told her as he walked over to her after making his hell hounds back off from her. She reached out for his hand and put her feet in the chair, slowly moving to sit there but not put her feet on the floor. "I have the strong memory of seeing Merlin running for his life from them, and them nearly distorting a new market stalls in the process." She reminded him while sitting. "You have nothing to be afraid of," but she knew that she would always be weary of them. They were so big, and seemed to have no idea of personal space.
When one of them, (Cabal she thought he called this one) moved closer to her and stuck it's head out resting it on the chair near her foot she found that she was glad she did not speak her thoughts allowed. Maybe never was a strong word, for Cabal's face was rather cute looking up at her, but it still looked as if he could eat her fingers if she did something wrong. She wanted to reach out to touch him, but held back. Not sure if she should.

It was clear she was still hesitant to be in complete comfort around his canine companions. On the one hand, he did not want her to be in the slightest discomfort, especially after everything she had been through. On the other hand, dogs themselves provided great comfort and she needed to get used to them sooner or later. Eventually -- hoping it would not take too long -- they would prove their innocence well enough. But when she brought up the next story, an incident that Arthur did in fact remember, he chuckled again, recalling how he had gotten Bohrs and Cabal all worked up so that they would chase him. "They merely mistook Merlin for a long bone with legs," Arthur said jokingly.
He crouched down next to Bohrs, giving him what the animal was waiting for: a good scratch on his belly. While he did this, he looked at Cabal who was still staring right at Guinevère. Arthur knew neither would hurt her. They only attacked when ordered to, or when they recognized someone as an immediate threat. Guinevère was clearly not one they needed to be wary of. He didn't doubt they would develop an affection for her soon enough. "They won't hurt you," he told her, encouraging her to extend her hand out to pet him, for that was what Cabal was waiting for. Cabal moved his head forward, sniffing her shoes. He continued to move forward, his wet nose touching her dress as he continued to catch her scent. Arthur just smiled at the scene before him. "Look, he likes you," he told her, hoping it would make her a little less afraid.

Guinevère heard Arthur talking to her but she did not look away from the dog to say anything in return to him. As Cabal moved his noise closer she slowly reached out with one finger to touch the top of his noise, and start to slid her finger back in a sort of rub, but Cabal's head moved up, as if to look up at her hand. Jerking her hand back quickly she just watched him until he rested his head down again.
Reaching out again, she attempted to put her whole hand on the top of his head but he looked up again and she moved back. "I'd like him better if he didn't try to put his rather large mouth near my fingers." She waited until his head was down again before reaching out to quickly pat the top of his head twice before he looked up and she pulled back again. She found a smile on her lips as it was a bit of a game now, rather then real fear.
The the dog, taking the game to the next level; moved back so he could jump up and put his front paws on the chair again, but this time also putting his head more or less in her lap! Her jerked back a little, pressing her back to the chair with her hands frozen inches over his head.
Slowly, inch by inch; she lowered her hands to touch his ears, and give them a little rub.

Arthur just smiled as he watched the two play a little game, though he knew it had not initially started that way. It was easy to see that she was slowly -- very slowly -- warming up to them, easing her comfort in their presence. "He won't bite you," he continued to assure her when she spoke of his large mouth being so close to her fingers. They may look like they could bite viciously, and perhaps Arthur had entertained that idea, but in actuality, they would not randomly bite someone . . . not unless they recognized them as a danger. "They're very obedient," he added, as he continued to rub Bohrs stomach who was enjoying it far too much. It was moments like these that Arthur wondered how they could ever be regarded vicious . . . until he told them to snare at someone, just for show.
He noticed Cabal rest his head in Guinevère's lap as he titled his head up a bit so that he could start to lick her fingers. "And they're really quite friendly," he told her, in the hopes of eradicating all her suspicions about how dangerous they were from what she had seen. She would be one of the few people he did not mind knowing of their true nature. Some of the other knights often kept in the canines company, exercising them through various games of fetch and other such activities. It was really mostly with Merlin that such a public display of their supposed ferocity occurred.

Guinevère pulled her hand up just out of reach when Cabal attempted to lick it but slowly moved it back down so he could. She wasn't sure how she felt about an animal using it's tongue to rub her hand; but the dog did look rather cute. "Other then helping chase down a chicken once, I've never been this close to an animal." She told him, "Well, other then a horse." And the one time the dragon had gotten close to her.
Guinevère smiled as she watched the dog try to get to her hand. "So, they look like something that could bite your hand off but are really just hyper kids who want attention?" She asked, before looking up at him with mirth in her eyes. "Basically they take after their master?" She was teasing him, as she moved her other hand to be able to rub both ears of Cabal while talking to him. "Were they a gift?" She asked, not sure where he got them from, only knowing they were mean looking animals, hunters, and apparently big babies.

Then that definitely made sense she was not comfortable with them, but it seemed to be changing as she rubbed Cabal's ear. He was liking that attention, and Arthur noticed the calming effect it had on the animal. "So, they look like something that could bite your hand off but are really just hyper kids who want attention?" -- "Exactly--" -- "Basically they take after their master?" Arthur's smile broadened when he heard this, refraining from letting out a laugh at the comparison she had just made. "Well right now Cabal seems to be claiming more of your attention. I may start to get jealous soon," he joked. They were spending the day together, and the fact that his dogs were here, and that they were playing with them, or entertaining them rather, only added to the casualness of today.
Despite everything that had happened in the past few days -- even the past few months -- today felt so completely normal, and yet special and rare at the same time. It was a wonderful combination, and Arthur would enjoy every second of it. When she asked if they were a gift, he nodded. "From a fellow knight and friend of mine." He smiled at the memory of getting these dogs, a gift that he clearly cherished and immensely appreciated. Arthur drew his hand back from petting Bohrs, and he almost instantly noticed. He rolled off his back, and lay on his stomach instead, putting his chin on Arthur's knee. In this position, Arthur knew he would not be able to crouch for too long, so sat on the ground, just scratching the animal behind his ears. "He was a good man," Arthur added, speaking of him in past tense for he had been one of the many casualties that battles in Camelot had claimed the life of.

Guinevère smiled softly at the sight of the king sitting in the floor petting his dog. She imagined that his father had never sat in the floor in his life for such a casual reason. For Arthur however, it looked natural. She wanted to join him, but she had a different plan for rather then sitting on the hard ground. Before she could give her thought words, Arthur spoke of the knight who'd given him the dogs. She knew from his words that the knight was not in his army still.
"Then the gift is all the more special now, for they carry his memory." She told him, so he'd know she understood with out having to ask more questions.
After she told him that she stopped betting Cable and wondered how to get him down. Knowing she was not strong enough to move the dog, she stretched her feet down and slide around him instead. "Don't get comfortable." She demand of the newest king of Camelot before turning to walk to his bed and picking up some pillow, before taking them to sit on the floor before the fire. Walking back over to get her sewing she looked down at him, "Bring the rest of the pillows and join me."
Walking back to the fire, she noticed the dog was following her as she had been trekking a crossing his room and was still following her. Guinevère sat down on the pillows, with her sewing in her lap and watched the dog with a big of wariness until he plopped down to lay next to her, his head in her lap. Now they could relax on the floor with the dogs, and still be side by side. Maybe Arthur could bring some paper work to do, or a book to read. Maybe they could just talk?

That was true. It was indeed part of the reason he had cared for the dogs so much. That, and he had such an instant affection towards them. It had taken time and effort to train the animals, but they were indeed loyal friends. He looked at him, thinking of the man who had given them to him, but before he could delve too deep into those memories -- ones he fully remembered -- he heard her speak. "Don't get comfortable." He looked at her curiously, but did not ask for she began to move about, getting a pillow and shifting over near the fireplace. When she asked him to grab the rest of the pillows and to join her, he did not need to be told twice. He was not as careful in how he moved from Bohrs, as she was when she moved away from Cabal, disrupting his position. But it seemed he was not too discouraged for he had regained his place, this time clearly more comfortably.
Arthur went over to the remainder of the pillows, Bohrs looked at him slightly confused but eagerly followed him to the fireplace where he set down the pillows and awaited Arthur to sit down so that he could mimic Cabal. Sure enough, the moment Arthur sat, Bohrs sprawled out on the ground, his head resting in the king's lap. He pet the affectionate animal as he looked at Guinevère and Cabal. "Now that's something his master has not yet done," Arthur commented, jokingly, though it held truth to it; referring to him having ever rested his head in Guinevère's lap. He gave Cabal a mocking look of disapproval, raising his eyebrow at the canine. "That jealousy may be starting to set in sooner that I thought."

Guinevère would have made a comment about him doing it; telling him to lie on back and she would pet his ears too. Yet she knew better then the make any sort of reference to the THOSE days. The days of the goblin. Even now she felt like she could die of embarrassment. So in stead of making a joke that could remind him of something they were both glad he forgot, she simply just smiled at him and followed a different path of thought, by leaning over to kiss his cheek.
She leaned back to look up at him, "There is something only you get." Guinevère was growing more comfortable around this dog. Cabal. She was slowly beginning to trust that he would not bite her. She was not so sure about the other one, for she'd never meet him before. He looked cute begging for his master's touch, but with Arthur they could be one way. They were obedient he claimed, but from the guard's relief from dropping them off it appeared that they only obeyed him.
After a few more moments of petting Cabal, she picked up her sewing and started to cut the fabric, so she could make the shirt. She was feeling stronger, like she had told him she was. Walking around the room had only made her breath like she'd walked up the steps. The tightness in her chest was easing slowly by the hour. She planned to rest as much as she could today, before . . . .
Guinevère blushed at the thought of tonight, but didn't say anything. She looked up at him from hew cutting, before looking back down at it and a large smiled crossed her face. Finally she looked back up at him, "I feel so happy just to sit here. Imagining that I am your wife, and this is our everyday."

Arthur smiled when she kissed him, assuring him that was something only he would get. He was of course just joking around. Yet when he spoke of jealousy, strangely familiar emotions came back to him. Not that he ever remembered being jealous of a dog in her life . . . but of another man? More than one? He felt it an odd thing to question her about and perhaps once a few more hours passed, there would be no need to ask for his memory would be fully recovered. He'd have to wait until then . . . hoping his patience would last. Ever since the vivid dreams about another man holding her hand, and now a strange sort of jealous feeling over seeing her with someone -- the two seeming to have occurred more than once -- well, he was hoping he could wait just a bit longer before growing too curious over the thought and vocalizing it. "Give it time," he said, continuing to jokingly eye the dog suspiciously. Not many people felt comfortable around the dogs to actually kiss them, or rest their cheeks against heir fur . . . but they were already warming up to Guinevère, and it was clear, that she was warming up to them as well.
When she began sewing, he decided that he would spare himself of doing paper work right now. Instead, he sort of lay back on his pillow, crossing her arms behind his head and spreading his feet out on the ground. With this adjusted position, Bohrs, raised his head for a moment before putting it back down on Arthur's stomach. He smiled at the mental image of them being married, and this just being an ordinary day. "Hopefully you will not have to imagine for too much longer," he told her, still holding on to that hope that the day would soon come. "But in the meantime, I too enjoy envisioning myself as your husband." Not a king; not even a royal; just a man laying next to his wife; the woman he loved with all his heart.
