It seemed like nothing was working out right in the life of young Mia lately. First a castle guard had manhandled her…then some drunk bastard threatened to turn her in for sorcery (from which she was innocent) and now her father had given her a rough slap on the cheek. She chewed her bottom lip as she moved along the forest path, rubbing the still smarting mark on her cheek. You say one thing to the man and he went off the handle…but he never was good at controlling his temper, Mia wasn’t a child any more and was coming into her own. She had mentioned leaving the caravan to strike out on her own, something practically unheard of among her people. And he had taken it as a personal insult.
Mia decided to take a walk until things cooled down, her only companion a heavily pregnant cat that had been living with her family as of late. The obsidian creature looked up at Mia with golden eyes as it waddled along beside her.
“Yea….I know it was a bad idea…”
The understanding cat meowed. A strong breeze blew Mia’s long curly locks in a whirlwind around her. She clutched her arms around her exposed stomach as the biting wind struck home. With each step bells and its of metal jangled on her person. She was still wearing her uniform from the prior nights performance. It was early morning now and she was beginning to feel the ache in her legs from her long excursion. With a sigh she looked down at the large cat.
“I guess I should just go back and face him….”
Another meow. Mia was about to turn around when the sound of twigs breaking made her breath catch. Icy blue eyes shifting to a bend in the road where movement stirred the early morning silence.

::vaughn:: A man with no sense of purpose grew easily bored. What little entertainment he could get, was from other people. He had been wandering through the woods for hours with no success of another human being. In a way that was both a good thing and a bad thing. Either way, Vaughn was terribly annoyed, desperately in search of something to occupy himself with. It was then that he heard light footsteps from nearby, as well as a strange jingling sound. Coins perhaps. Whoever it was, could be rich and Vaughn was always on the lookout for a suitable person to rob. Part of the fun of being clad in knightly attire, was that most others automatically assumed he was a man of honor. Vaughn was no such person, and the deception was often amusing to play out. Right now, he was intrigued by the strange jingling sound of a nearby wanderer and as he had nothing better to do, began to follow the source of the sound.
It did not take long for his gaze to rest upon a young woman. A young woman who was not dressed to her fullest. A young woman who caused a smirk to form on Vaughn's lips. This was going to be fun indeed. He stepped into view, making his presence known, though he did not speak right away. Instead, he eyed her, his gaze slowly trailing up and down her body, scanning it in a manner that was meant to make her feel uncomfortable. Now whether she would feel such was something Vaughn could not entirely control. What he did know was that he was going to have some fun with his woman, who seemed the slightest bit distressed. "Well, well. Now what would a ravishing creature such as yourself be doing in the woods all alone, with no man to protect her." He was not concerned about her safety, but was more so implying that there were indeed dangerous others lurking about. And he could certainly play that role.

It didn’t take long for someone to come into view, a dark shadow of a man. Icy eyes studied him as she curled her arms tighter around her exposed stomach, though from his probing eyes she had the urge to cover her breasts as well. Felling much like his dark eyes were able to see right through the silky fabric. He didn’t say anything and the smirk on his face made her uneasy, but she was too fearful to turn her back on him to head back. To most a knight was a sign of protection, a sign of an honorable man…..Unless you were a druid. Her people followed no leadership so they were protected my no one and many guards/knights would take advantage of the simple fact that they would face no repercussions. She pursed her pale lips together, feeling the blood drain from her cheeks as a feeling of dread settled in her bones.
Eventually he spoke, though his words were anything but reassuring….He spoke of dangerous men, and she had a strong feeling he was one of them. The cat at her side hissed, turning at once and scampering back towards their current home. Mia’s blue eyes followed the feline for a moment before flickering back to the handsome yet menacing face of the man before her. Perhaps the cat knew something she did not.
“I…”
She began before biting her lip when the words jumbled in her skull. It was hard enough for her to converse with men…even kindly ones. So to speak with someone that seemed to be the exact opposite of a heroic knight was unnerving at best.
“I should be going.”
She finished quickly, making the decision to turn. Bracelets and bells jingled as she turned about, forcing herself to walk away from the dark knight….it was a fast walk…but a walk. She didn’t want to show him her fear…but she also didn’t want to see just what the cat had sensed from him and ran. Bare foot moved swiftly over the trodden path, curly locks blowing behind her as she propelled herself forward. Ears straining to hear if the strange man had decided to follow.

::vaughn:: Vaughn could not look away, mostly because his eyes kept resting on the exposed portions on her body. She was far too delicate to be in the middle of the woods, alone, dressed like that. Vaughn may have to teach her the dangers of such attire mixed with solitude in the woods. Of course, say for the irritating cat that clearly had a good judge of character as it already hissed at him. He was not disappointed when she turned to leave for it only meant that he would follow. He waited a few moments though, enjoying the view from behind. That was one reason he did not immediately follow. The other being so that he could give her the illusion that he would not follow. After several moments, not wanting to lose her trail, he began to follow. Taking large, slightly quickened steps after her.
When she seemed to be within ear shot, he spoke. "What is your rush? I did not even get your name." Again, he did not care, but far be it from him to allow such a sight to disappear without looking at it longer. And good god, was she such a sight. Had she no companion? What kind of person would just allow her to wander on her own. While Vaughn would never sexually assault a woman, he knew that there were others who would. He felt no compulsion to protect her. Only to remain in her company because, well, after taking a look at her did one really need to establish more of a reason?

An audible sigh fell from her lips as silence followed her. Eventually her footsteps slowed as the burn from the nights walk still ached within her muscles….How far had she walked anyway? Lets see….the show was late evening and now the sun was already breaking into the sky….so she had been walking for many many hours fueled by anger. As the path she was on forked she hesitated, casting her icy eyes back and forth trying to figure out the correct trail. An ominous sound made the tiny hairs on her neck rise. A loud clanking sound as a man clad in armor moved, the loud smack as each heavy footfall broke the silence. She swallowed hard, determined not to show her fear despite her dire circumstances…..Why couldn’t she be one of those women that knew how to wield a weapon? Hell she would even be satisfied with a few spells, but no….she was simply a dancer…..a defenseless dancer.
She turned slowly to face him just as his cold voice ran down her spine.
“You did not ask it….”
She replied sullenly, looking over her shoulder she wondered if her father was going to come looking for her….Or if he was even worried. He was always rattling on about the dangers of men…and yet he had left her out here for hours. A stinging pain in her cheek reminded her why. A jangling of bracelets sounded as she rubbed her sore cheek, eyeing the stranger with obvious distrust.
“Nor did you provide you own….as is customary.”
Her voice was soft and she fought hard to keep the trembling out of it. She let her icy eyes drift over the darkly appareled knight, taking an odd liking to his unruly curls.
“…..you don’t act like a normal knight….”
Her voice was barely above a whisper now as she questioned him. An uncharacteristically daring venture for such a meek girl. She took a slight step back, one that unless you were watching closely would go unknown.

::vaughn:: Ahh. At last. She had stopped. He chuckled when pointed out that he had not asked her name. That was true enough. "I was far too, distracted to ask such a question," he pointed out as he eyes looked over her once again. Everything about her had distracted him, so yes. It was meant to sound rather perverted, as most of his comments seemed to be thus far. Her glance over her shoulder revealed that she was either wanting someone to come to her aid, though he had not yet done anything, or perhaps she was not alone after all. Maybe there was someone else out there, someone she was hoping would join them. Either way, they were alone right now and Vaughn would not waste a moment. He took a few steps towards her, not yet invading her personal space.
"Are you expecting someone?" He asked curiously with a teasing smile. He completely ignored her comment about his name. He usually did not so readily reveal it. Her comments only further amused him as she pointed out that he did not appear to be a normal knight. "And how would you define, normal?" He asked her, aware of how he differed from other knights at the same time was curious as to what she would say.

He seemed to be one of those men…the ones her father was always telling her about. She nibbled her lip and took another step back as he moved forward, to anyone watching it would probably appear quite comical…But to Mia it was anything but. This time when his eyes caressed her body she was quick to cover her chest, crossing her arms much like an angry petulant child. Mia was not your stereotypical gypsy dancer…if there was such a thing. Normally women in her position where flirtatious, vibrant, had most men at their will with a single glance. But not Mia.. no, with her virtue still intact she was rather inexperienced…..and naïve. Thin fingers nervously rubbed one of the many chains around her neck, rolling a small smooth stone around her fingers time and time again as she tried to find her voice, her courage.
She couldn’t rightly ask him not to look at her….it was everyone’s right to see and look where they pleased. His argument could easily be that she should dress more conventionally if she preferred to avoid his gaze…which would be easy…if it were not part of her act to dress as she did. Men paid more coins to see a scandalously clad young lady dance than one covered in layers upon layers of cloth, after all… those hard earned coins were not easily willed away.
A brisk wind caused her long hair to dance about her shoulders, her icy eyes settled on his own dark locks as the breeze played. There was something strangely….was it attractive? No…alluring was the word, about someone who seemed so dark. Though she wasn’t sure why. For all she knew this man could be planning to rape and kill her…..it was ludicrous to be so curious about him. It was puzzling…and a true bother….was she a whore because she found herself enticed by darkness? Or did that just mean that she was condemned to hell? With the breeze steadily blowing Mia let her tongue slide over her dry lips, shifting to look over her shoulder once more. Hoping to see a friendly face.
His voice made her shoulders jerk, turning back to see him she met his eyes for a moment before looking down at the path. Here was her chance…..maybe if she said someone was coming for her he would leave her be….she had always heard that criminals were cowards….hopefully it was true. But then again she didn’t even know if this man was a criminal…..or just a pervert who wielded his words like daggers.
“Y-yes, my father….he should be along any time now.”
She tried to sound convincing and was pleased with the conviction in her soft voice.
“So….I think you should leave me be….he might get the wrong idea…”
She let her voice trail off, risking a look up at the strangers face to see how he would react to her empty threat.

::vaughn:: She was positively delightful. Her air of innocence. Then again, according to her style of dress perhaps she was not as innocent as he thought. Never the less, she seemed to act modest. Yet another contradiction if one accounted for what kind of clothing she was clad in right now. It was so, sensual. Inviting any man to look, inviting any man forward. He was not exception for while he was not a weak man, no man could help but succumb to such a delectable creature. He was noticing all her movements, her apparent discomfort over being alone in the company of a man. And not just any man; him. Which understandably, would not put her mind at any ease.
He took another step forward as she took one back again. It as as if they were both engaged in some sort of informal dance. He was the pursuer and she was the temptation that compelled him to move forward. If she was the reward, then he could play this game all day long. Ahh so there was a man. A father. Who would apparently be along any time now. "Well that does not give us much time then does it," he questioned, now taking a larger step closer to her, slowly inching his way into entering that invisible boundary otherwise known as ones personal space. "And what a father he must be, for he allowed his precious daughter to wander on her own through the woods, dressed in what can only be described as the most captivating of clothing." It had certainly been captivating enough to capture his attention. "Yes. I can see how concerned he must be," Vaughn added sarcastically, a sinister smirk playing on his expression.

His reaction to her threat was precisely what she was trying to avoid. He took another step closer…a much larger step than last time. She stumbled back, nearly gasping when she found herself backed against a large tree. Oh if she only had a dagger….something… Much time? What exactly was he planning on doing? Blue eyes widened as a conclusion settled in her mind….he was going to take advantage of her….right here….And it was all because she had dared voice her opinion to her father. She kept her frail arms firmly tucked across her chest, feeling much like a mouse in a cats clutches her chest began to rise and fall rapidly.
His next comment made the blood rush to her cheeks. Oh how she wished she had something to cover herself with, something to shield herself from those probing eyes. He didn’t seem to be taking her threat very seriously. Biting her lip she felt fearful tears flood her icy gaze as his final statement struck home…..He wasn’t afraid of anyone finding him…finding her. A choked sob burst from between her pale lips as Mia struck out with an open palm, fully intending on smacking the bastard right across his smug face.
Even a tiny mouse will stand up and fight back when pushed into a corner….the meek gypsy had finally reached her limit. “Get away from me!” She snapped, while trying to push her way past the dark knight who was turning out to be anything but honorable. She knew she was no match for him….any dummy could see that. But she had to try…she wasn’t just about to lie down and take whatever punishment he was going to dish out for her. Frustrated tears spilled from her closed eyes as she tried to beat him in the chest again and again with her fists, knowing all the while that her attempts were futile…yet unstoppable.

::vaughn:: Her reaction was what Vaughn had attempted to evoke from her. At the same time, she was crying. While he felt no sympathy towards her, it was less amusing to him when a woman lost control of her emotions. He chuckled, finding some strange sense of sadistic pleasure from all of this. She was fighting against him, and while he would not force himself on to her, the fact that she did not know that was what made this entire conversation and situation all the more funny. Well, funny to him. Clearly not funny to her. He continued to stand his ground, not budging even while she tried to push him away.
"And what will happen if I do not?" He questioned, wondering what threat she would throw at him. Or maybe he should approach this from a different perspective. He raised his hands and grabbed his wrists to stop her pounding on his chest. While it did not cause serious injury, it was not exactly the best feeling to be pounded on. Well, not like this anyway. As he held on to her wrists in attempt to cease the hitting, he spoke once again, locking his eyes on to her. "Or what will my reward be if I do?" He asked suggestively, looking at her in such a way that could very well make any woman feel objectified.

He didn’t seem the least bit unnerved or even angered by her by her actions. Calmly asking what would happen if he did not get away from her. The first words on her tongue were that she would kill him…Which obviously were not true…and even if she did have a weapon Mia didn’t have the heart to kill anyone…or anything for that matter. She couldn’t even watch as her father put down their lame mule last year, growing hysterical at the mere thought of death. She had kept her eyes closed as she wildly flailed, only opening them when she felt an iron grip settle around each slender wrist. What was left of her tears dripped from her chin and down onto her chest, taking with it tiny streams of red paint that had adorned her face in the prior nights performance.
She stared at him for a moment with her mouth agape. Terrified and yet also somehow exhilarated by being this close to him. Her tiny fingers curled against the hard armor of his chest, trying to push herself away from him….though even she could tell that her efforts were half hearted. Reward? He wanted a reward for not raping her? And was that to be sex? What was going on in this mans head? Never had she received so many advances, nor ones so forceful. With tear streaks quickly being dried on her face by the cool wind she looked an utter mess. But with the look he was giving her she might has well of been naked. She tried to cross her chest again only to find her wrists still captured. She began to tremble horribly, shaking so hard that the bells on her bodice jingled quietly. The only part of her body still was that being held by the dark knight.
“You….you never told me your name.”
She said suddenly, looking up at him with reddened eyes. If this was a physical battle she didn’t have a prayer….but if it was to be a battle of wills she was ready for combat.

::vaughn:: She seemed to stop fighting against him which was probably for the best. She still did not look like she was going to fully submit. He had to admit that she was strong willed. Far more than he had initially anticipated. Which made this challenge even more enjoyable. Being so close to her he began to notice the small details of her. While before, he had gained pleasure in merely eying her form and exposed portions of skin. But now, he was looking at the subtle details that created the whole picture. From her incredible blue eyes that held an almost icy pigment, to the curious piercings in her ears that made her stand out and he found actually rather charming, to her long cascading curled hair that went well down her back. Yes. She was a beauty to behold and right now, Vaughn had a hold on the beauty.
He continued to smirk, shifting even a bit more closer to her. He was not about to answer her question, but rather decided to turn it around. "And you did not tell me yours." But as she had so logically pointed out previously, he did not technically ask. "Ladies first," he added, as if manners were something he was so concerned with. Considering his current position and the tears he had caused in the woman's eyes, being polite was not his highest priority.

Once again he eluded her question, shifting even closer to her than before. This time she didn’t bother moving back…there was no point for he could easily overpower her if he chose to do so. She was so close to him now that she could feel each warm breath that trailed from his handsome mouth, caressing the bare skin of her neck. She looked away from him when he acted as if he was showing manners by letting her go first….a proper man would not corner her like this….chase her like he had….made such crude advances….stand so close. She pressed her dry lips together, once again wetting them with her tongue before she turned resolutely back to her captor.
“Mia.”
She felt no need to supply her last name…he was lucky he had received this much. But she had no warrants, no one was looking to bring her into the gallows so she had no reason to hide her identity other than the fact that this man was infuriating. She waited for him to supply his own name, though she assumed he would just avoid her question again….usually people didn’t tell their victims their name.
Momentarily she thought about kneeing him in his groin, her blue eyes flickering down at him before she realized what it must look like. Blushing she cleared her throat and looked away from his intense eyes.
“A-and yours?”
She stammered, chancing a look at his face before her eyes quickly darted back to the ground….seemingly something that interested the young gypsy a great deal.

::vaughn:: Vaughn was not oblivious to where her gaze intentionally, or unintentionally, trailed to. It only made his smirk broaden, especially when she seemed so shy after wards. It was greatly amusing to him, and he expressed as such by chuckling. Without having to say the words, he was assuming she knew what had entertained him so. She had now told him her name and he contemplated returning the favor. His name was no grand secret. It was just one less thing he enjoyed withholding from those he crossed paths with. There was no logical reason for this. Sometimes, it was just to test the creativity of the person asking. "Whichever name you think would suit me best." He stated, out of sheer curiosity to see what she would come up with, above anything else. It could be an insult, it could be a legitimate name. Vaughn waited with anctipation to see what he would come up with.
Now, he felt the compulsion to somehow touch up on her modesty, which as he previously established was contradictory to the way she dressed. "Now what would compel such a modest woman to dress so, provocatively?" He asked, obviously having no complaints with her garment. He just wondered why. What did she do for a living? Or maybe her outfit had nothing to do with a profession, but was just something she wore, somehow native to her culture. Either way, it had peaked Vaughn's curiosity.

If anymore blood rushed to her cheeks she would surely burst from embarrassment. His chuckle instead of being a sound that was pleasant grated on her nerves…he was enjoying this way to much. Did he make a habit of harassing young girls? Or was she just lucky enough to cross his path at the right moment? Of course when he spoke it was just a riddle of sorts….eluding her once again. She bit back the name that immediately sprang to her lips…calling him a bastard would probably not increase her chances of escape. She turned to scowl at him, obviously fed up with this whole business….If he didn’t want to give his name then fine…..she didn’t care what it was anyway. She did however care about getting away from him…
He ask her a question then that made her scowl deepen until it wrinkled the skin between her brows….He would not answer her question but he ask her one? Mia pressed her lips together, jerking once on her wrists to see if he had loosed his grip…and was disappointed.
“What business is that of yours?”
She said angrily, though she was unable to hold eye contact for any longer and shifted her gaze to his armor clad chest. Without warning she acted, throwing her slender knee upwards toward a very sensitive area of the dark knight. It was unteeling if her attack would work….if he was wearing any armor there….or if he was simply expecting her move. But she had to try it….

::vaughn:: She was getting bolder. Her words made that much clear to him. She was slowly steering away from remaining the shy woman to someone who was beginning to speak up. Whether this was good or bad remained undetermined. She had fully captured the attention of the nomadic knight however and he was not about to let her go. Well, that was what he thought. There were some things that no man was immune to, and one of them, was a certain anatomy of theirs that was very sensitive when directly targeted by oh say, a strong kick with a knee. So yes, Vaughn felt the full impact of it. While he did not cry out in pain, he leaned forward a bit, and in this hunched position, closed his eyes, trying to mask the intense pain he felt from the unexpected attack on his, manhood. If there was one word that was screaming in his mind, it was Ouch!
While it had proven to be rather painful for him, it put her at an advantage. He had not been expecting her to aim for that area, and so his grip loosened on her wrists. She would be able to make a clear get away for sure, but Vaughn right now was focused on making sure she had not made him...permanently injured in a very important part of his body. He would get back to her once the pain began to subside.
[HAHA! Good one Mia! I actually laughed when I read what she did.]

(( ^_^ well she has no weapons….so she makes due XD))
Remarkably it seemed to work. He didn’t cry out but he did hunch forward…his grip loosening. With a frantic series of tugs she was able to free herself, falling to the ground from her own desperate thrashings. Within seconds she was on her feet in a swift feline movement, she backed away from the dark knight but hesitated…..She had never done that to anyone before….what if she…ruined something? She hesitated, blue eyes wavering on his hunkered down form. Pin pricks of guilt worked at her conscious but she quickly pushed them away…he had ask for it….
“…Bastard….I think that fits.”
She said calmly as if she were having a normal conversation with him. Taking a moment to pull bits of twig from her long unruly mane. She kept her eyes on him however, not sure how long her move would keep him immobilized. She could leave now….possibly escape before he was able to move very well…But honestly she was tired of running from this man, tired of being his plaything. With a malice she never knew she had Mia planted her hands on her hips to watch him suffer, a tiny grin tugging at her lips.
“Well…..that name might not work now….”
She trailed off, leaning over and planting her hands on her knees so that she could better see his face. She was about ten feet away from him, out of lunging distance at least. But she was not done toying with him…..he had broken the soft pliable Mia and pulled out her dark undercurrents…And he might not be too pleased with what came out.

::vaughn:: As he was hunched over, he chuckled when she cursed at him, saying that she found that to be a suitable name, fitting to him. Was he offended? Not in the least. He was actually rather amused by her shift; from timid to defiant. Even more so because she was not taking advantage of his current state of impairment, nor the distance between them. She was standing there. Interesting. Very interesting. Vaughn, still slightly leaning forward, raised his head as an amused smile formed as he looked at her. "Finally. The darker side of the meek, shy girl is unleashed." He had no problem helping that side of her surface, though something told him it did not happen all too often. Then again, perhaps it did. For if she had a habit of wandering on her own, he doubted any man would just walk by without giving her a second glance.
When the pain began to alleviate a bit, he stood up more straight, not taking a step forward but looking at her too carefully. It was still a bit sore, so he would wait a few moments to regain his strength. Enough so that he would be able to walk without limping, or looking like he had been on a horse for too long. "I certainly hope there is more fight left in you. I am rather enjoying this feisty side of you." Yet another remark of perversion, as he obviously showed no reluctance in saying such crude things.

When he finally spoke Mia pulled herself up to her full height, crossing her thin arms across her chest as if expecting another onslaught from his probing gaze. His speech brought a small smirk to her lips. It was true that not many people saw this side of her….it was buried rather deep. She tried to be a good person…she really did, but when pushed too far she would inevitably push back. Blue eyes followed his progression as he slowly straightened his body out then took a menacing step her way. This time she didn’t step back….it wasn’t that she didn’t fear him….it was taking ever morsel of her courage to keep her rooted in the same spot.
Her eyes narrowed on him as he paused, seemingly waiting for his body to recuperate more before he continued. It was admiral in a way, how determined….and well resilient he was. She had seen a man kicked in the same region before and he had been reduced to tears and obscenities….But not this dark knight…not a single word. Once again she found herself drawn to him and repulsed at the same time….it was so confounding that she didn’t know what to do. Another teasing remark brought her back to reality, locking her own icy eyes with his dark ones. Really? His little remarks were getting old.
“You going to tell me your name now?…..”
She wasn’t sure why but she wanted to know his name….his calling. If nothing else maybe so that she could insult him properly. Lifting a single hand she scratched at the dried flaking paint around her eyes. Flicking the bits from beneath her nails with wrinkled brows.
“I don’t like this side of me…”
She let her voice trail off, blue eyes scanning the woods for a moment before flickering back to the handsome man in black.
“But people like you have a way of bringing it out.”
She spoke with a neutral tone though a frown curled at her lips. She assumed everyone fought with their own desires…their own demons. Their own urges that would go against their very morals. But she wondered if this man had any morals to go against…Thin fingers drummed on her arm as she pondered her next move.
“It makes me wonder…..if I have this dark side….then do you have a light one?”
She spoke softly, her words not as sure as they were before.

::vaughn:: Ah. There it was. Her courage or defiance, or whatever one would call it was slowly building. It would only make things more interesting. Especially when she did not take a step back at his advancing one. Now how far could he take this. How far could he push her. He had already made her attack his, sensitive area. What else was there left to do? She did not seem like a killer, nor was she running. Oh yes. This was going to be great fun. "I believe you chose one for me," he teased. It was not the first time he had been called a bastard and he was fairly certain it would not be the last. It was just particularly amusing it hear it from such innocent lips. From a woman who had resorted to tears, who now fought defensively. When she went on to say that she did not like this side of her, only reaffirmed his assumption that she did not act like this often.
He took another step towards her. "You say that like it is a bad thing," he stated, as she pointed out that people like him brought it out. Her next comment posted an interesting subject. Vaughn knew he had no light one. At times he did things that others felt were a favor to them, when in reality, he had his own selfish motives for everything. So self reflecting, he did not believe he had a light side. But now where would the fun be in revealing that right away? As they were still strangers towards each other, there was still a lot to learn. "Why don't you come closer and find out." His voice was urging her to come towards him, rather than him step towards her. It was almost like a cat call, attempting to lure her to him as he waited with anticipation to see how she would react.
