.:Physical Appearance:. He has a strong, tall stance and never lets himself waver. His hair was once a strong colour of red but it is now instead a musty grey with the occasional red hair. He always has an air about him with demands respect, and usually gains it quickly. He always wears his blue, Mercian uniform when in training or when he is leading troops. When he is in peacetime he always dresses in such a way that is appropriate for one in his status and wealth.

.:Personality:. Payton has become incredibly ruthless throughout his life, and usually will only aid others if he believes it will be beneficial to himself. From a young age he has had the ways of a warrior drilled into him from a young age, so he uses the morals of a warrior to guide most of his life and the day to day running of his home. He has a quick, sharp temper which is something terrible to behold if you are on the other end of it. Payton tends to only be at ease when he is on the battlefield, as he does not enjoy the day to day domestic life, much preferring to leave those responsibilities to his wife Ardith.

Payton was the first born child and was therefore tuned to take over the estate and his families wealth from a young age. As he already had a younger brother, who could step in to his shoes should he be killed on the battlefield, Payton was allowed to pursue his want of becoming a warrior in the Mercian army. From a young age his father employed swordsmen to teach Payton how to fight and by the time Payton was sixteen, he was already commanding forces on behalf of Mercia.
He met his wife, Ardith, in the Mercian courts and married her shortly after as theirs was a quick courtship. From then on his wife was almost constantly pregnant and gave Payton 4 boys and 3 girls. Payton took more interest in the boys than the girls as he expected the male children to one day join him on the battlefield, and naturally the female children would just be married off for his own gain. He demanded respect from all his children but only failed to gain it from one; the youngest Caitrin, who was constantly a thorn in his side from the moment she could speak.
Payton, after marrying off all of his children, apart from the youngest, finally got in contact with his brother Rouland, commanding him to take on her wardship. Now Payton lives alone with his wife Ardith in their Mercian holding. The only communication he has with any of his children is usually by letter.
