I have heard that it will start sometime in December. I think but I am afraid thats all I know, they have gave out some screencaps of the first episode of season 3 but they are only a few images.

Merlin has already been recommissioned for a third series for BBC One and the news has been confirmed in a press release by the British Broadcasting Corporation and Shine Limited. According to star Anthony Head the third series starts shooting in March 2010 and the first episode of Series 3 is due to be released in late September. It is assumed that it will be showed September 18th; as the first series debuted September 20th and the second series on September 19th.

(As the cast signed a "5 year contract", as mentioned by Johnny Capps, it is assumed the series will go onto a 5th season).

In an interview, Julian Murphy has mentioned that a Dragon Egg may be introduced in series 3.

Colin Morgan revealed in a May 13th 2010 special in Australia's channel TEN show, the 7 p.m. Project, that "...A year has lapsed and quite a lot has happened. And Camelot is in the midst of a war." The program also showed footage a bar fight involving Arthur and Merlin at the beginning of an episode early in the series.

ugh it's such a long wait... my move in day for college is the day RIGHT after the first ep of series three comes out >< But I really can't wait I have been anticipating this ALL year ^^

If you check out this (LINK) then you can see photos of the sets. On pages 6 & 7 there is a few pics of Arthur and Merlin with what looks like more fires in Camelot. It looks like allot of flash backs might be coming up.

I hope it is a flash back! I want to see how it all started. Maybe even get a glimpse of Gwen's past. We might be finding out that as well! A guest star is supposed to play someone in her family. Maybe Season 3 will be the year of the flash backs? *JOKES*

HAHAHHA Thats what it looks like Alistair . . . . . SO WEIRD! But I can't wait to see that in the show! It looks like she's trying so hard not to laugh! Looks like a hilarious episode!

I also love the battle scenes! They look super intense! Especially with Uther out there fighting. Also liked that they showed some Morgana at the end. . . and her dramatic entrance when Arthur found her!

One more thing I have to comment about . . . WARWICK DAVIS! I'm SO EXCITED to see him on the show!!! Love that actor!

On that first link you posted, Gwen for spoilers. I noticed that there has been some updates. It has allot more detail. Including, who comes back from Gwen's past. Her brother! Here is some other quotes from that site. Some look really promising: 'Series 3 is being written to appeal to both adults and kids, adjusting plotlines to a fanbase that is growing older.' -- 'Arthur's relationship with his father is really put into tests as he learns the truth about his mother, which is disturbing information for him' -- 'There is a lot more banter between Merlin and Arthur and more magic.' -- 'More about Uther's past will be shown, and the repercussions of everything he did keep filtering to the surface' -- 'Morgana will be involved in a big fighting scene. -No fighting for Gwen although her part will grow into a more powerful part.' -- 'Uther is finding out not everything he did was the brightest move.' -- 'Uther has secrets that will gradually surface'

'Short scenes involving Bradley and Colin and Bradley and Angel were filmed. In his scene with Gwen, Arthur was yelling for some reason.' -- 'More jousting' --'-Katie, Angel and Emilia filmed a scene in the lower town. Emilia had aged aging make up that made her look like an 80-year-old woman. An apple was part of the plot.'


Merlin's keep has a few rumors as well, but they all look the same. 'There are unconfirmed rumors of a scene in which Morgana slaps Gwen.' Ouch.

It just talks about the bromance of the show, and their budget. Talks about how you will see allot of battles and their aftermath in S3. Camelot is at war. I can try to make it bigger for you on my computer tonight after work, if you wanted to read it Neav.

New trailer!! And according to one site it's Official. Merlin start on the 11th,a nd the ep is called 'Tears Of Uther Pendragon Part 1' not the traitor with in. Either way I can't wait!!!!

The Great Dragon has rescued Merlin in the nick of time and uses a powerful enchantment to heal him of the serket's poison, as the drama based on the legend of King Arthur continues. But as the young warlock recovers, Morgana and Morgause are free to step up their plans for the invasion of Camelot.

Morgause continues her manipulation of Cenred, as he prepares to launch an attack on the citadel, but Cenred knows he cannot take the castle alone. Morgause promises him that they have an ally within King Uther's court who will ensure they win the day – no one can fight a battle on two fronts. Morgause gives Morgana a powerfully enchanted rowan staff to aid her in her magical treachery. King Uther is still unable to rule as he recovers from the enchantment inflicted by the mandrake root. So, as Cenred's army attacks the citadel, Camelot's fate now rests on Arthur's shoulders. The young prince and his men fight bravely but, just as they think the tide might turn, Morgana plays her deadly card. In the vaults beneath Camelot she uses the rowan staff to summon a skeleton army to wreak havoc within the castle walls.

Arthur and his men cannot hold off both an army of the living and an army of the dead. Merlin knows that their only hope is for him to stop Morgana and vanquish the enemy within. Will he be able to do so without revealing his own magical powers?
