The fear that had settled in her stomach over the past few days was a constant presence with Morgana now. How could it not be though? While perhaps she should fear the consequences of harbouring a wanted individual in her chambers, Morgana did not. It was fear for the individual, the boy, that followed her wherever she went, rather than what Uther could do to her should he discover the truth. The boy was an innocent. He was a child for heavens sakes! And yet Uther was hunting him like he had tried to stab the King or Prince in full view of the court. She didn't understand it. The boy was just that, a boy, and yet the King claimed he was dangerous. Morgana didn't know why, but everything within her protested allowing Uther to execute him.
And so, with the help of Merlin and Guinevère, she was going to get him out of Camelot. The guards were on high alert, searching everyone who came and went from the city, but there was a way around that. Merlin was to get the key, while Guinevère fetched some of her own clothing for Morgana to disguise herself with. It was dangerous, oh extraordinarily dangerous for Morgana to be doing this, but she had to help the boy. Gaius had disapproved of them all for looking after him, but the old physician hadn't failed them. He'd saved the child's life and now it was their responsibility to get him safely out of the city. Morgana worried her lip as she looked out the window of her chamber, her eyes scanning the courtyard where the boys carer had been executed not too long ago. Her mirror had shattered with such force without even being touched.
That had, if nothing else, made Morgana's resolve even firmer. This child had magic, but he wasn't old enough to be scheming against Uther. He didn't even seem old enough to make a concious decision to learn magic. Perhaps he had been born with it.
Releasing a small sigh, Morgana closed the window and made her way back over to the boy's hiding place, drawing aside the curtain. She couldn't help the smile that made its way across her features as she saw him sitting up. "Are you feeling better?" she asked softly, even though she could see it. His skin no longer held the pallid colour that he'd been sporting for the last few days. Gaius had done his work well.
