Isabel, although she would never admit it, was nervous. And that was an understatement. While she was now quite the socialist, and had been to both Sorelia, Camelot and Gawant, she had never had anyone visit Cantia before. The role of a host was an entirely new one, and she wasn't quite sure what she was supposed to do. When she had invited Princess Elena to visit her at her estate she had not expected Elena to actually do so, and while she was not unhappy about the arrangement, it certainly wasn't something she was looking forward to. Her stay in Gawant had been a pleasant one, and she found Elena as charming as her home, but it just wasn't something Isabel knew how to do.
Her main skills lay in manipulation and poisoning people, neither of which could be used now. Sarah, her ladies maid, sensed her agitation, and had tried to make Isabel feel better. It wasn't working. This was the third time Isabel had been down to the kitchens, just to make sure all the food preperation was going to plan. She hurried along the corridor, fists clenching and unclenching as she went, bumping into several servants and demanding to know what they were doing and was Elena's room prepared, and were there people to meet her, and were tonight's entertainers arrived.
It was all very frustrating. Normally Isabel would never let herself become so agitated. She was always calm and collected and always, always completely under control. This should not be an event to make her feel this way. Yes, Elena was staying in Cantia, yes, it meant she would be on her guard a lot more than unusual, but she had done it before. If she could keep up the pretence in front of the likes of Vortigern and Arthur, doing so in front of Elena - whom she had already met - should be no ordeal. She let out an angry sigh. This was utterly ridiculous. She was Isabel de Massard. She did not panic about anything.
Sarah appeared at her side once again, annoyingly telling her that she should sit down for a moment and stop worrying. She was probably right, only Isabel couldn't stop worrying. She could only await Elena's arrival.
