For weeks she had lived in fear. No, not weeks. Far more time than a measly few weeks. Months. Months she had been on her own, wondering if each morning would be her last. She had managed somewhat on her own to survive once her tribe had exiled her. Yet now it seemed that her story of survival was about to end. That was, until Merlin arrived.
The exhilarating run through the dark streets of Camelot had her heart pounding an erratic rhythm against her ribs. The young druid woman followed her savior silently, her eyes wide with fear as they hurried to avoid being caught by the patrolling guards. Freya bit back a whimper as the young man before her led her into a tunnel. Wouldn't this lead to the castle? To the very king that her captor had been intending to bring her to? She knew quite well that magic was outlawed in Camelot. Because of who she was, who she had been born, she would be executed. Although, now cursed, she felt as if she deserved it for her crimes, even if they were involuntary.
But this young man had magic, as shown by the spells he had cast when freeing her. Even now he was lighting a torch with words alone. She clutched onto his hand tightly, afraid to be lost in the maze of stone halls beneath the citadel. They eventually reached a room carved out into the stone, causing her to pause. She wrapped her arms around herself, looking about like a caged animal. It was a hard habit to drop, after being caged for so long.
Time: Series 2, "Lady of the Lake".

Merlin didn't really know how he had managed to pull off getting Freya out of the cage, let alone being able to hide her beneath the city in the many tunnels that ran under it. But he had done it, and soon Freya would be safe and out of Camelot without any suspicion. Well, perhaps a little but that was always going to happen.
He lit a torch to get a better look around, she would be safe here for a while until he fully figured out what to do. She looked so helpless. Merlin gave her a half hearted smile, "Hey, hey it's alright" he soothed, "They won't find us here." He sat down next to where she was huddled. "Im going to look after you," he told her with some look of determination, after all didn't she deserve to be looked after for once? Instead of being treated like cattle going to market.
"Are you hungry?" he asked eventually, knowing she should at least have something worth while to eat.
