How History Had It Wrong

Being in his arms was so comforting as a feeling of safe and protected filled her. How odd that he could do this to her with out her knowing him so well but he could. He made her feel untouchable and safe. Warm. Wonderful. "Everyone here is wonderful." she told him, looking up into his face and her smile becoming more real and less sad. "Very kind and welcoming."

Then her smile fell, "Only there is . . . .There is this one man, whom I had issue with tonight." She told him and pretended to look around for a moment before looking back at Arthur, "You see while I was walking around the room, and thinking of my husband--He ignore me all night, when I had hoped he would steal me sooner." Her smiled returned, brighter then before as her tease became evident. "Perhaps you would speak to him? So he will not repeat such a thing again?" The next time they could circle the room together.

Arthur was relieved to hear that she was having no trouble fitting in. Not that he thought she would. He was just glad that she was enjoying herself, and hopefully it was making her transition from her home kingdom to Camelot a bit more easier to bare. "Only there is . . . .There is this one man, whom I had issue with tonight." It was these words that caused Arthur's guard to immediately raise. His eyes followed hers, searching around the room. Was it Lancelot she was speaking of? Or was it someone else who dare make her feel uncomfortable? Arthur was already planning to get to the bottom of it. For if anyone had the audacity to say or do something to his wife to make her uncomfortable . . . then they would pay the price. He felt his shoulders tighten at the thought, an strong protectiveness he felt for her coming through . . . until she spoke again.

And at which point, his shoulders relaxed and his expression went from determined, to slightly stunned . . . to amused. Amused, and relieved that no one had actually created a problem. "I will send him to the stocks first thing in the morning," he joked, clearly having had fallen victim to her teasings. "Though he must be suffering from some sort of mental affliction if he is able to resist your beauty for the entire evening." Which . . . he hadn't. Physically, perhaps. But mentally, she was all he could think about. Was it normal to be so, consumed with thoughts of a single other woman? He had never experienced that sort of fixation before . . . nor could he find any reason to complain for it. As she was completely praise worthy. "He is not worthy of your attentions either. For you deserve someone who give you deserved praise at every possible moment." Which, Arthur felt he didn't do enough of.

Arthur wasn't even sure he was moving to the music anymore. He moved his head back to look at her as her words were becoming as bold as her as her actions had been. And he loved that about her. Loved how she was embracing their intimacy and how she was speaking so openly about it. It was clear that was far more gifted with words than he was. Which was why he had no words to offer in return. His teasings -- concerning intimacy and passion -- was more so physically expressed rather than verbally. She seemed to be the latter. Her question caused so many thoughts to rush through him, and his body . . . slowly growing ready for her. Well, perhaps not so slowly. "Nothing ever hurts when I am with you," he managed to get out. "It only hurts now . . ." When he could not be with her. When there was a room full of people surrounding them. When -- "Geoffrey," Arthur suddenly said when the councilman was walking by them. Geoffrey stopped and gave a small nod, returning the greeting with his formal title.

"I fear I must retire early tonight," he began to tell him, breaking the contact of their dancing positions as he looked at Geoffrey, rather than hold his wife. "Is everything alright Sire?" Geoffrey asked. That was when Arthur realized he needed an excuse. Staring at the man for a few moments, he finally knew what he could say! "Oh yes. It is just . . . my injury from the joust. I fear it has not quite fully recovered yet." An immense exaggeration; a complete lie. For that was not the physical pain he was feeling right now. "Shall I send the physician to your chambers?" Geoffrey asked, concern crossing his features. "No no. There is no need for that. I will escort the queen to her chambers and then rest for the remainder of the night. I am sure all will be well by morning." Oh yes it would. Geoffrey gave a nod as Arthur politely smiled and returned the gesture before turning to his wife, extending his arm for her to take for he did not wish to waste a second now that he had just made up an excuse to leave.

"It only hurts now . . . " It DID hurt? Her eyes widened slightly as he spoke of pain but before she could ask him what was wrong, he spoke again. "Geoffrey," He spoke of needing to lie down and his jousting injury! While he had not sounded as if he was in pain, she had known he was pushing himself too hard! Taking his arm she looked up at him worried and let him escort her out of the room.

As they grew closer to the floor with the royal chambers she noticed that they would pass his before passing her's. Taking a few quick steps ahead of him she pushed opened one of his doors and stepped in. "If you are in pain, then you need not walk me to my chambers. You need to take care of it!" If she thought him in pain she would demand he send for this Gaius everyone sore by. Let him look at the injury and care for it properly!
