It was very inconvinient, Griff thought, that whenever Lucan was needed he was never to be found. It was almost as if his brother just assumed that Griff had nothing better to do with his life than spend his time looking for him. What's more, Griff was sure that should he ever make a comment about this - something he was rather tempted to do because honestly why was he never to be found? - Lucan would just say something about his being a knight and the fate of Camelot and all its inhabitants - and yes, that included him so he should stop complaining - rested on his shoulders. It all sounded like a handy excuse to Griff.
None of this internal ranting was changing the fact that Lucan was still in some mysterious location, unfortunately, and so Griff was just wandering around the castle. It was another opinion of his that the castle was far too big, unreasonably so, and he didn't approve at all. In his current state of mind, he didn't approve of a lot, but he'd been trying to find Lucan for well over an hour. Any excitement that could have been found for the reason of his looking and slowly been chipped away until he was just bored and annoyed and not entirely convinced Lucan deserved to be told his news if he was going to insist on hiding.
As he walked through the one millionth corridor, Griff could say with quite some confidence, he was irritated. There were only so many places Lucan could be, this was ridiculous. He was all for giving up when he noticed someone walking the opposite way. Judging by the man's clothes he was a servant; weren't they supposed to know everything that happened in these places? "Excuse me, I'm looking for Sir Lucan."

There were very few times that, when leaving Camelot, Arthur was not accompanied by Merlin. It was a common sight to see the raven haired man following Arthur on his own horse when the prince wanted to go on a hunt, or was sent on patrol. After many years of working for Arthur, the people of Camelot were used to seeing Merlin trail behind the prince like a shadow; so when Arthur rode out on a hunt that morning, a few chosen knights in tow, some citizens wondered where the servant had got to.
Earlier that morning Merlin had gone to open the curtains in Arthur's chambers to wake the sleeping Prince, when a loud sneeze had reverberated around the room. Arthur had shot up in bed, alarm at the noise making him reach for his sword, until another sneeze from his servant prompted the confusion as to the source of the noise to change to annoyance. "Sorry sire," Merlin had said, stifling another sneeze, "Gaius says it's nothing to worry about. Just a cold." The glare from the prince had been enough to make Merlin pause in his step, and he had arched an eyebrow at Arthur's incredulous look, "Is there something the matter?" he managed to get out, before sneezing once more. This was enough to set Arthur off on a rant about how silence when hunting was imperative, and ended with the prince refusing to allow Merlin on the hunt, despite his protests.
Now Merlin was walking back from the courtyard, having seen Arthur and the knights accompanying off. At first he had been annoyed that the prince wasn't allowing him on the hunt, but now he had time to think, he realised he could try and catch up on chores that he'd been putting off due to lack of time. As he was walking through the corridor leading towards the physician's quarters, he noticed someone walking the other way. Not thinking anything of it, he was about to walk straight past when the man asked him a question. Stopping in his tracks, he turned to face the stranger, wondering what he could require from a knight. "I believe he is currently out on a hunt with Prince Arthur. They left a few minutes ago, and probably won't be back until late this evening. Was there something you needed him for?"

Lucan was out hunting with Arthur? Didn't he realise that Griff needed him here now? Urgh. His brother was the most irritating person on the earth. Actually no, he was the second most irritating person on the earth. No one could irritate him like Caitrin could. The worst part was that she was completely aware of this, and exploited it at every chance she could get. He realised he was smiling, purely because he was thinking about Caitrin de Archer. Well that was embarrassing. Snapping himself out of it, he focussed on the task at hand: finding Lucan.
Once again, Lucan was being as annoying and unhelpful as he could. If Griff didn't want to talk to him, then he wouldn't be left alone, but because he had something to say, something rather important as it happened, the man was nowhere to be found. It was just typical - he really shouldn't be annoyed, he should have just known this was the enevitable outcome and stayed at home. "I needed to tell him something." Griff replied, and the because he thought the man in front of him was giving him a strange look, he felt further explanation was necessary. "I'm his brother Griff. It's rather important."
