The castle of Gwent was positively abuzz with motion, servants hurrying to and fro with platters of food and drink, while nobles dressed in colorful gowns and tunics entered the great hall, everyone ready for an evening of merrymaking and maybe even a little debauchery. Even those who would never partake in such things hoped for it, because it would give everyone something to giggle and gossip about later. Isadora was no exception, even as she stood by her Father's side as he looked out over the congregation, his seat the highest in the room to show his sovereignty.
They were celebrating the engagement of one of her cousins to a noble of another land, their union to symbolically bind the two lands. It was the best way to ensure peace, she knew, and she knew that one day, she would likely be in that position, too. But not today. Today, she would simply get to enjoy the festivities, and Isadora always did enjoy a good banquet. Plenty of good food, plenty of people to mingle with, and the opportunity to see friends, old and new alike. Speaking of old friends....
Isadora excused herself from her father's side as she heard the introduction for the entourage from Nemeth being called. Her father gave her a knowing smile before he granted her permission to go, and she pressed an affectionate kiss to his kiss before she made her way nearer to the main entrance, so she could greet the attendees from Nemeth, or really, just one person in particular. "Mithian!" Isadora called warmly when she saw her friend, making her way through the crowd towards her.

The world around her was jostling with excitement and merry. Today she was visiting with her brother the kingdom of Gwent to celebrate the wedding of two nobles and what everyone hoped would be peace for many years to come. She could not imagine her own wedding but on days like this she wondered to whom it might be and what he might be like. Mithian knew she was young yet, and had some time before pressure would be placed on her to wed a man.
At the sound of her name she turned and her face lit up with glee at the sight of her friend. "Isadora!" Reaching out for her and embracing her gently so not to smudge either dress. "It is so good to see you after so long! I have missed your dearly!" As her brother's traveling partner and hostess until he wed, she often was busy traveling and did not get to visit friends as often as she liked. Still, on evening such as this one when the nights were alive and the mood was merry it became the best time to catch up with a friend.

Isadora laughed with shared glee as Mithian embraced her, returning the gesture, just as careful as her friend was to make sure neither of them mussed their dresses or their hair. Both women shared certain priorities, it was why they got along so well! "As I have you! It's such a shame when our duties keep us apart for so long." For they both had their responsibilities to their respective kingdoms, and neither of them would ever think of shirking those duties, no matter what they might want to do.
Turning so that she stood beside her friend rather than before her, she linked arms with Mithian and drew her deeper into the party, to seek out a place where they could talk. "Now before I start to interrogate you about every single detail of your life since the last time I saw you, I feel it is my duty as a good hostess to see to it you are well sated. May I offer you some wine, or perhaps a bite to eat?" She was quite serious about the interrogation thing. Isadora knew that Mithian had the good fortune to travel with her brother, and she did so love to hear of distant lands...not to mention any juicy gossip about the people who lived there.

Mithian smiled at her dear friend's evil threat of an interrogation before waving her hand in turning down of the offer of food and wine. "Absolutely none for me, I fear that it will go to my head this early into the events. I will take you up on it later however when I have t watch my words less!" For then everyone would be int their cups and she would have more food on her belly to help balance in her liquid filled belly. She had once learned from her brothers that drinking during or after a meal would soften how quickly the wine took her grace away from her nimble tongue.
Knowing that they both would be doing to questioning of each other, Mithian knew they would do well to not be in the center of the party so others could join with so much ease. "Instead let us move to the edge, or to the balcony, so that our words will be our own. I want to know all the details, even the ones you keep from your father!" She teased her hoping that scandal never touched her friend but knowing that life with out an adventure wasn't very fun. It was why she enjoyed hunting, and watching other sports, for it gave her the adventure but in a safe proper distract from any real harm.

Isadora gave a giggle when Mithian spoke of keeping her head, yes, it would not do to lose one's wits around these nobles, you never knew who was going to turn around and use your words against you later. But she didn't have to worry about that with Mithian, no, she was sure of that. "Of course, we wouldn't want to say anything inappropriate because of too much drink." Isadora had never overindulged to such a point before, such a thing simply wouldn't be proper.
"Come, the balcony should be open, and we need not worry about being overheard." She agreed to her friend's suggestion, neither of them wished to be overheard by prying ears, particularly if they were to share the things they kept from all others. "You must tell me all about your travels! You're so lucky to be able to travel about with your brother...the furthest from home I've been lately is to Camelot, and it was all on business." She was envious of Mithian's journeys, Isadora would love nothing more than to see what the world had to offer.
