Guinevère was tired. Her body ached in every place that moved and the smell of smoke was once again filling the grand hall. Once this hall had been used to knight men, and host balls, and all sorts of grand and glittering events. Now it held bloody bodies, dieing people, and chaos. Gwen's dress, even with the apron over it, was no longer clean and soft. It went from a soft purple color to a dark grimy shade, with slashes of red blood on the middle, and sleeves from working. Soot from the fires, and heat covered everyone. Between the water they had to drink, and the water they used to clean the injured, they were running low. Even with all this, her every thought of was the prince. Was he safe? Had he fallen? Every burn she soothed, and gash she bandage could have been one of Arthurs. Every body that others carried in, could be Arthur. If she cared for them, the perhaps . . . . . just perhaps.
Gwen reached over and pulled the hot cloth off of the one man's face and re-placed it with a cool cloth. It would help with the fever, and burning. After a few moments she moved on the next knight. The dragon was attacking the city every night, and at dawn he would withdraw. Making them slowly suffer and slowly die. Every day they spent HOUR putting out the fires, only to have then back again and worse once darkness fell. Water, food and clothing were running short. With out help-and soon-the city would fall!
Moving to the next knight, who had not yet been cared for, Gwen tried to give him a kind smile. She knew who he was, but had never spoken closely to him. She was a lady's handmaiden, and did not get to speak with knights often. Not besides Lancelot, who was also on her mind. "Sir William?" [TAG: Sir William]

For days and days the dragon would attack. Every night he would come right back causing harm to their beloved Camelot. Every day it was hard work seeing to it that every fire was out. Every man was saw to and taken care of. But so little good it would do. The next night it seemed to get worse. The fires would return more destruction would come back. It was an ongoing battle. They would fight to the fullest of their ability but it did no good. The dragon never seemed to lose any power or it's ability. It was an ongoing battle every night. No one could rest. By day they were seeing to the destruction of their city and by night they were fighting a dragon. Many had fallen. William did what he could to try and help. So many had fallen all around him and he did what he could to help them. Many were taken back to try to be healed. Many of his fellow knights remained trying to fight what seemed impossible to be defeated. But none of them would give up. They were determined to stop this beast, this dragon. They had to protect Camelot. They had to make certain their land was free of the dragon once and for all.
William had been going for days and days. Trying to do all he could. Working till it seemed he could no longer go on. He had tried to stay close to his father. He held a great deal of respect for him he had taught him everything he now knew. Though William knew he could not stay close to his father at all times. For most of the night he had but they separated trying to see to those they could. Trying to put out what fires they could. And all trying to figure out a way to stop the dragon. There was so much going on all at once. It was difficult to know what to do next. To see that the wounded were put safety. Try to see to the citizens help put out the fires. William had separated from his father both going separate ways trying to do what they could to help. They were all knights of King Uther and lead by Prince Arthur. William knew he could not stay near the prince constantly but he did make an attempt to do just that. When he didn't see he was needed elsewhere. With so much going on he was doing a multiple amount of things any given moment.
William had been helping with a recent fire on the castle walls so many had been put out over the past few days. At times it seemed pointless. The fire would only return the following night. The King caught William's attention as he attempted to put out the fire. Stopping to pay his respect to the king as he always did. The King seemed about to speak but the sound of rubble from above took William's attention as he pushed the king out of the way. The rubble that had fallen from the castle wall's crushed William's legs where the King had been. William felt immense pain as his legs were crushed he knew they were broken but he held in the scream. It was so important to him to show no weakness, no pain. William saw a few fellow knights and others that were not of the knighthood working to free William. His attention was on the pain in his legs he heard words but didn't acknowledge to who they belong to. It seemed time went by really fast for before he knew it he was within the castle surrounded by those who were injured just as he was. It upset him that he was no longer able to help. That he could do nothing but lay here. Despite the pain and barely able to focus on anything but that he wanted to do something more. For his Camelot for his King. Though he has saved him he still felt as if he should do something more. William had his eyes closed wanting to do something more until he heard a voice. His eyes snapped open looking at the girl, the servant Guinevère. "M'Lady." William replied though trying to keep the pain out of his voice with some difficulty. He hated being so weak.

Gwen looked down at the knight and wondered what happened. She looked around for Guais but saw he was busy. He was working to stitch up other knights whom had been injured in the fighting. Some looked as if they might die, witht he amount of blood on the floor below them. Turning back to Sir William she tired to look un-distressed. "I shall be your nurse, Sir William. Will you tell me what happened so I can know what must be done?" She could tell some of what happened by the site of his body. But not the details. She could tell he seemed to be in pain as well, and wished she knew how to help that.
She could handle the blood, and chaos of the sickroom, it was the look on the faces of the men in pain that she could not. However in times such as these, Gwen knew she did not have a choice. She had to keep fighting the need to run, and cry and stay and help the ones she could.
She knew Sir William normally fought near Arthur. She wondered if he was safe or if whatever had taken Sir William down had take the prince as well? Gwen wanted to ask about him, and if he was well but knew better then to cross the line. If she was going to ask about the prince with out giving away her feelings and and avoiding Uther's wrath she would have to watch her every word. For now, she would try to help Sir William, and just hope Arthur was safe.

William was in a lot of pain this much he knew for certain. However, he tried to mask the pain in his expression. This was a difficult task he hated to seem weak in any way. Though he could say he was happy he was the one who suffered the injury rather than the King. That was certainly something William was glad for. That he had been able to see what was to happen before it had befallen their very King. That would have caused even more panic. At least with a knight being harmed it was the same as all the others. William looked around the room so many more were in worse shape than he. Some were dying and nothing could be done for them. He cursed the dragon for it's doing. For it's escape. For so long it had been chained never to harm Camelot again. Yet it had escaped and brought much destruction along with it. There was nothing that could be done about what had happen. They would have to rebuild everything. However, unless they stopped the dragon soon there would be little they could really do.
William tried to smile at Guinevère as she looked over him and questioned what had happen to him. "I was putting out a fire, M'Lady." William knew being a knight it was very important to be humble. He was not one to be boasting about what he had done. And now certainly was not the time. He had saved the King yes, but anyone else in his place would have done the same. It was his job as his knight to protect the King and the people of Camelot at all cost. There was nothing more than that he would expect to do. "Some rubble from the castle wall had fallen upon my legs. Nothing more than that." William looked around the room frowning at the sight and the pain. "So many are in such more worse condition than I." It was easy to come to this conclusion with one glance around the room. All the injured, all the blood, all the moans of pain. His Camelot was in complete chaos all because of the dragon. It had to be defeated. And William could do nothing about it. That angered him more than anything. To know he was utterly helpless to his kingdom. He could do nothing more than what he had.

Gwen knew others were worse off but maybe that would give him some hope. In a time of need such as this, hope was greatly needed. "Yes, many others are greatly hurt. You shall not be among the dead today, Sir William. I think I am promise you that. Soon you shall be back out there. . . " Hopefully the fighting would have ended by then. Gwen did not know how much more the city could take. She was fearful of things as it was. "Guais has made some syrup that will help with the pain. I should warn you, it will taste like toad water." She tried to joke to take him mind off things. "I will return in a moment with some."
Gwen walked over to where he keep it, and mixed the syrup with water and walked back to Sir William. She placed her hand on the hand of his head and did her best to lift him so he could drink it. "Slowly, if you can. I know it tastes horrid, but it will help you." Some men tried to gulp it down to avoid the taste and only ended up coughing it all back up. "Once you get this down, I will help you remove your armor, so we can see what must be done for you."

William nodded at Guinevère's words. He knew he would not be among the dead. But he too knew he would not be out there soon enough. He cursed the rubble that had fallen. Enabling him from being able to help as he wanted. "It will not be soon enough M'Lady." William knew not how long he would be here days, weeks, he knew by then the dragon would either be destroyed or there would be nothing left of their beloved Camelot. However, William had great faith among the knights and Prince Arthur they would destroy the dragon before it came to Camelot being completely destroyed. However, he hated the fact he was restrained here. Unable to do anything but wait. And deal with the pain he felt. He didn't care about the pain if only he could move without the help of another. His legs were completely useless at this point and knew he would be of no help to anyone. William nodded his head at her words not caring if it tasted so horrid or not. If it would ease the pain he knew it would be well worth it.
William was not one to remain down for to long and the fact he had to stay were he was annoyed him throughly. He was a knight he should be out there fighting or putting out fires something. He hated knowing he could not help and that annoyed him more than anything. William listen to Guinevère's words knowing the syrup would taste horrid the moment he tasted of it. William allowed the mixture to slide down his throat trying to drink it slow but wanting nothing more than to gulp down with the horrid taste. He tried to hide how badly it tasted from his expression but knew he didn't succeed to well. While at first he drunk it slowly by the end he was trying to drink it a bit quickly. "That was completely horrid." William said with a cough knowing he had drunk it much to quickly. But most of it was in him and he knew it would begin to work very quickly. He also knew soon his armor would be taken off and what needed to be done for his legs would be done. That was what was needed more than anything.

Gwen lowed his head back down to the pallet and gave him an apologetic smile. "I know, I am sorry. It will help you. Especially since we have to try to remove your armor." Which meant his body would be bumped and moved some. She didn't even want to think about having to remove his boots. That would be very, very painful and she knew she would need help to get them off with out causing more damage or pain.
She started with his arm plates. The laced along the forearm, and she gently took his hand in her's and gave it a encouraging squeeze before starting to undo the laces. Had the dragon not attacked, Gwen would never had dared breached the barrier between knight and servant. She would not have offered him comfort. However in this moment where chaos rules and the city quite literally burning down around them she felt this was one barrier that was not in need of keeping. "You fight along side the Prince, do you not?" Everyone knew he did but she was trying to distract him from the pain, and from thinking about what was to come. Besides, truth be told, she wanted to know how Arthur was. "How does he fair out there . . . and his men?"

William nodded at Guinevère's words. He knew it would help in ease the pain when the armor came off. It had to come off so his legs could properly be fixed. Though it only seemed to take moments before the mixture he had been give seem to start to work. The pain started to become less and less. For which William was grateful for. "Yes M'Lady it will. The sooner the armor is off the sooner I can begin to heal and the sooner I can get back out there and help." William was eager to help if he could. He didn't want to be helpless but he was. He couldn't to anything. But he was grateful was he harmed instead of the King. He would rather have been injured far worse than allow harm to befall their King. It was William's duty to see to it that all was well. That the King and royals were all well and protected. As the citizens of Camelot. He was knight and he took the duties bestowed upon him very seriously.
The first part of the armor removed was nothing that hurt him. The pain was fading thanks the horrid tasting mixture he had been given. William smiled at Guinevère as she squeezed his hand in a comforting way. If he had not been injured and if what was currently happen outside was happening they would probably not have talked much to each other or even crossed paths. "Yes M'Lady I do." William could say the Prince and himself were good friends. The Prince seemed to try to be friends with all the knights. Trust and friendship was needed within the knighthood. They had to be there for each other. "From what I've seen they are all doing well and the best they can. Tonight I was not with the Prince. But I have great faith in him he will stop the dragon." This was something William was certain about. He held great faith in the Prince and those within the knighthood they would defeat the dragon. They would restore their Camelot soon enough. It would not be much longer any moment could be the dragon's last. William did not believe Camelot would be completely destroyed. The dragon would be stopped before that would happen.

Gwen knew better then to give him false hopes, "I am sorry Sir William, but I doubt you will be getting back out there today." Or even next week. "It might be a while before your legs are strong enough to hold your weight." If they ever were. Gwen did not know how bad the damage was until she could get a better look at his legs. If the bones were only broken, then it would be a few months, if they were just bruises and cracked a few weeks. However if the bone was shattered then he might never walk with out help again. If at all.
He was speaking of Arthur, and the men. He seemed to have great faith in the prince. "We all have faith in the Prince. He brings us all hope for what he might become." A better king the his father, "I worry for him." She froze for a half moment after realizing that it might give a away to much. "And his men." She added. "The dragon is such a magical best. It's hard to imagine mere men fighting it. I worry for all of Camelot." She was covering her earlier statement but she almost meant it.

William nodded looking at Guinevère knowing there was no way he would be able to help today. His legs were in bad shape there was no way he could walk on them. They were broken unable to hold his own weight. It was a fact he hated more than anything. To know he was restrained here unable to do anything at all. "Will it be weeks before I can be of any use to Camelot?" William knew well his legs were broken it would take days if not weeks for them to heal. The pain he had felt at first had been very intense. He hadn't even been aware of where he was going or who had brought him here. The pain was now gone but that did not ease his thoughts. He knew he would be utterly useless to his dear Camelot and that was not something he liked. He wanted to be of use, he wanted to prove his worth. But it seemed it would not be so.
William nodded once more at Guinevère's words. "The people need to have great faith in their Prince." William was no exception to this. It was important to have trust within their future King. William was confident that Arthur would defeat the dragon and the knights would be there along with him assisting him in however they could. And unfortunately for William he could do that no longer. He could not fight along his side. He was restrained to this bed unable to support his own weight. It was something he distaste very much. He was not meant to be restrained as he was he should be able to be out there and help. But who he had saved, the injury he had taken made him grateful it was he that was harmed. If it had been the King it would have been so much worse. It's better a knight be harmed than their ruler. "The beast will be slain, M'Lady, there is no reason to worry. Prince Arthur will be successful as will the knights that are by his side."

Gwen did not wish to upset him but knew better then to lie, "Yes, even with out seeing, and knowing for sure I know it will be at lest a week. I am very, sorry Sir William." She knew however that it could be much worse. She had gotten most of the armor loosed up by this point and was sliding it off slowly and storing it under him. "I am going to have to slide your chain mail. I will be gentle, but the quicker I do it, the less it will hurt." Chain mail however was heavy and hard to move when you were laying down. She began lifting it up and trying to move it with out causing him to much shifting.
It was odd, one would think undressing a man would cause her to blush, but she had done it so many times now . . . She feared she was getting rather good at it.
He spoke of Arthur killing the dragon and thought over what she had heard from other knights. No weapons were touching the beast. Everything it hit ti with bounced off as if it were stone. There was no way to kill it. Only one knight in Camelot's history had ever killed a beast that no weapons could touch. He had not even been a real knight. (He WAS a knight to her, but not to Camelot).
Lancelot.
That was who, Camelot needed now. He had done the impossible before, but even knowing that Gwen was glad he was not here. Every moment she spend in here she feared for news of Arthur's death. If Lancelot was out there fighting as well she might not even be able to work out of the combined fear for the two men she loved. For the first time since he had left Camelot, Gwen was glad he was gone. She could not lose them both.
"Yes, I pray every moment that they will do the impossible. The prince is known to be a great warrior and general. He will lead his people past this." Or he would die trying. And that frightened her more then the dragon.
