[/color] she called over her shoulder as she made her way up a tree. the people came complete this time: swords, pitchforks, torches and all! unsurprisingly, angie lured them all the way out of Camelot and into the woods where they were vulnerable and easy to spot. with torches lighting the sunset, eve watched their path with glimmering light brown eyes. she was surprised that they were still pursuing her especially since they were well out of Camelot. was bread really that valuable? reaching into her pocket, evangeline grinned to find that the shiny new necklace she stole and still burning a rich little hole where she left it.green, green and more green! the forest was a great place to rest, concentrate and possibly lose a buncha angry villagers- and that, evangeline was thankful for. nimbly leaping through the trees, she was making her very escape once again for she’d stolen a piece of bread or two and the people were furious. ”hey hey! it’s just a piece of bread!”
maybe that’s why they were willing to harass her this far. with a shrug, eva leaped down onto the lowest branch and dangled there until the angry villagers arrived. ”you guys want this?” she teased, holding out the necklace before grabbing it with her mouth. chuckling through clenched teeth she did a flip, landing right behind them. ”cant catch me!” evangeline sneered before quickly turning tail before they could respond.
up the tree she climbed once again, dangling happily along one of the branches. she snickered and mocked them through clenched teeth. now this was what the former servant girl called fun. teasing the villagers on a daily basis was starting to become more common than actually eating even though eva only ate when she took something from the villagers. she didn’t mind at all. as long as she ate or as long as she got a dose of laughter everyday, she was happy. that was exactly why evangeline never took to begging on the streets like most peasants. she’d rather take the risk of dying or getting in trouble. besides, almost nine out of every ten times she steals, angie usually got her meal- or in this case a meal and something shiny.
it wasn’t long until the villagers finally gave up on the chase. besides, they probably wouldn’t be able to get her out of that tree or any of the other trees without setting it on fire or chopping it down and that would just be too much trouble and so with final curses, the men turned back in the direction of Camelot. ”hah, something shiny and something new for evangeline!” she mused to herself in a sing song kind of voice. hanging upside down from a tree branch, angie grinned, finally able to take her first bites out of her stolen little meal and oh how heavenly a piece of bread could taste.
