"A celebration for the summer solstice? What is that? And why to go?" "Come on will have fun. You have never been in a celebration like that before. I guarantee it." This discussion prevailed all the time in her mind along the way. She knew this old man with the name Sebastian, only a few days, and now she was there with him and went to a festival that had not heard about this before. Okay she has an idea of what it was, but they didn't make of this kind celebrations in her Kingdom. Surely ought to trust him and be there with him?
At least he had explained her that there any need to wearing heavy dresses. So her choices was simple. One long dress in beige and grey colour with some red and silver flowers in it. Her hair had caught in a bun and decorated with a crown of small red flowers. No jewelleries, no heavy dresses. At least she wearing and her red cloak. Hoped Sebastian had not given her wrong informations, and other guests wore impressive dresses and sparkling jewels. If that happened she was going to feel great shame.

Roslyn had been looking forwards to this feast for some time. She had been on her best behaviour at home, and had been waiting for this night since her father had mentioned it to her. Roslyn loved feasts, but especially this one as it was the summer solstice. Though this meant an end to the summer, and that they would now welcome the winter, Roslyn preferred it to the winter solstice. After all, in the summer one the dresses were always lighter and prettier, and the weather was so much nicer. Roslyn was taking great care to enjoy all that she could in this evening, and it all started with her dress. She had made her jade green dress especially for the feast. Only recently had she started donning women's clothing, rather than that of a young girls, so she was enjoying every gown that she put on at the moment. It made her feel so much more grown up than she had been feeling in her girls dresses. Her father had even got her a new cloak to go with her dresses. She had needed a new one anyway, as she had grown quite a lot since the last summer. This one was a pretty shade of dark green, and Roslyn absolutely loved it.
There was nothing about today that Roslyn wasn't determined to enjoy. She loved feasts, as they let her get out of the house and enjoy the company of others for a while. Roslyn hated being cooped up with her father, as he was hardly ever in a good mood. She suspected that he had only bought her the cloak because it would have looked silly if she had turned up without one at her age. Her father cared a lot for appearances, and she felt like she was sometimes just an extension of that. Roslyn brushed her hand through her hair as she looked around the hall, hoping for something interesting to happen. She didn't want to spend all evening with her father after all. Biting her lip, she watched all the other noblewomen. Most had friends already to talk to, or they looked too old or too unfriendly to pay Roslyn much heed. Brushing down her gown she started to circle the room, so she didn't feel as awkward, thinking that soon she might have to rid herself o her shyness and introduce herself to someone.

Oh there were much more nobles than those who waited. And some in her age, because she thought that were only in the age of Sebastian. But until now she was in the Sebastian's company, who was consisting of other elderly. Xenia wasn't going to pass her time with this company anymore. They were too friendly with her, but sometimes they said some things that she could understand them. So she left very kindly.
Now she was walking around the room. She was scanning everyone and was wondering with whom one else to chat! There were a lot of nobles young men and old men, young women and old women. She decided to chat with a young Lady, but with who? Some Ladies in her age has already their company. She didn't want to annoy them. Suddenly she saw a young Lady with a bright gown and she seemed that she was looking to talk with someone too. She was a little embarrassed, but she decided to do the first step. She walked to her and finally she could to say something. "Um Hello my Lady!"

Overall this was lining up to be quite a boring feast. She had hoped that she would be the centre of attention, or that people would at least seek to come and converse with her. She sighed a little and straightened out her dress, she did not want to be reduced to speaking with her father or suchlike, how embarrassing would that be if she had come all this way to speak to her own family. Roslyn wondered if her mother would have guided her through such functions, had she lived this long. She stiffened a little, Roslyn didn’t think of her mother much as she knew how much it upset her. She forced a smile, and a servant offered her a goblet of wine. She took it, and sipped at it a little. Roslyn was still getting used to the bitter taste of wine, but her father had told her that she had to get used to drinking it as it was sophisticated.
It was not long until a young brunette girl came up to her quite suddenly and greeted her. Roslyn was quite shocked, but did not show it. Making sure she did not spill her wine, she curtseyed on cue and smiled at her new acquaintance, “Good evening my lady.” She chirped, just as she had always rehearsed. She wasn’t quite sure what to say now, oh Jesu, they hadn’t even introduced themselves yet! “Sorry, I should have introduced myself, I am Lady Roslyn Griffin, what may I call you my lady?” She was trying so very hard to play the part, like she had seen all the other noblewomen play it. She knew she could do this, but she needed encounters like this to push her in the right direction.

Polyxena was happy when the young lady introduce herself immediately. Maybe she didn't have to go there and speak so suddenly, but her previous company was boring and she was not going to pass all her day there feeling so alone. She could understand that the young lady was looking for someone to chat too, so why to waste time! She just noticed that she was holding a goblet of fresh wine. She wanted one too, but the wine could wait for now. Lady Roslyn Griffin! Interesting name, but it didn't sound famous to her. Of course, from her appearance she looked like a Lady, but maybe she and her family wasn't a hugely rich family in the kingdom of Camelot. Or maybe they were from another far away place.
But she had to stop thinking now and introduce herself. "I'm Princess Polyxena of Graecia! Nice to meet you My Lady!" She said with a very kind voice and a under-tone of proudness. But what had happened to her?! She usually never had pride about her social position. Maybe the trip tired her, and she didn't know what she saying. Ignore it, she told herself and she continued chatting. "If it is alright to ask you, where is your family from, My Lady?" And other stupid question! Surely it wasn't ok to ask such questions. If she was going to continue saying and asking such silly things, she was going to leave the celebration and go somewhere else.

Roslyn had been hoping for something like this to happen, after all she had wanted to come to so many of these feasts so she would meet the other ladies of the court, and begin to learn their ways. There was no point in her being stuck at home with her father for all this time, she wasn’t going to learn anything, and she had more chances of making a match that she wanted if she was here at court, rather than her father making a match for her. That was one of her biggest fears; her father wouldn’t see a problem with marrying her off to one of his friends, or their sons. She resisted the urge to shudder, and instead focussed her attentions on the new acquaintance she was beginning to make. The girl in front of her had an accent that Roslyn could not place, but then she did not know many of the girls from outside Camelot. She didn’t even know that many from within Camelot, let alone outside it.
Oh gosh, the girl was a princess? Roslyn was slightly speechless for a moment, she had never met a princess before and was unsure of how to act. Was she supposed to curtsey again? Or address her in some other manner? She had never been prepared to speak to a princess, as Camelot only had a prince, and why on earth would Roslyn be expected to converse with royalty? The princess was still speaking to her, so Roslyn couldn’t have offended her. She smiled sweetly at her, “Of course you may, princess.” She straightened down the front of her dress a little; she didn’t want to appear untidy in front of royalty, “My family is from Camelot, I live with my father in his manor, it is only a short ride away from here.” She began to explain, “Are you enjoying your stay in Camelot, princess?”

Xenia was happy that she met that young Lady, because if she didn't she was going to feel bored during all the celebration. Of course it was a celebration and celebrations are for having fun, but you cannot have fun if you must keep company to an old man and his friends. Lady Roslyn was almost in the same age with her so they may have same interests. Moreover Polyxena had learned from a very young age to be sociable in the celebrations but she was afraid always of the first debate. Camelot, yes of course she was from Camelot. She maybe wasn't like her, who was going from celebration to celebration. That was the rules. So she was there to have fun and not to think. If she wanted to think of something, she could just stay at her home and not travel with a carriage for hours. "My Lady, I’m having a great time here. It is always great in Camelot. It is bigger enough from my kingdom and there are more ladies and nobles to meet here." Now she was thinking, of what theme they could speak on. Maybe about their interests. But it would be better if she could have a glass of wine. "Would you like to go to the servant who stands there to get a goblet of wine?"
