Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Upon entering Arthur paused in surprise when he saw his son. It was not, a bad kind of surprise. But one in which he never thought to see his son wear the Pendragon colors. And it made his heart swell with emotion. He quickly smiled, scooping Amaren up in his free hand that did not grip the two bundles of clothing. "And such a noble looking prince at that!" He exclaimed to encourage his son's excitement.
"Will I get to wear a crown, Papa?!" Amaren asked excitedly. Arthur kept his smile in place, knowing they were far from gaining a crown. He was not even king yet. Not officially. "Only time will tell," he told him, kissing him on the cheek. Still holding onto him, he walked up to his wife. "Thank you," he told her sincerely. For the cape. For embracing all these changes. For allowing her son to wear the Pendragon colors. Standing close to her he now extended the bundles of fabric. "One is for Amaren, the other is for you." He suddenly wished he could give them so much more, and yet at the same time . . . felt far happier in their humble home than he ever had in the castle.

Guinevère loved seeing Arthur as a father, and it made her heart swell with pride that he was her husband. That she cold give him another child. He gave her some fabric, and told her it was for Amaren and her. She unfolded her's and gasped, at the color and the fabric! It was beautiful! More so then anything she owned before! Where had he found the coin for this?!? "Arthur!" She breathed this name, and looked over at him. "It's beautiful!" Moving closer she kissed him, a short but loving kiss before unfolding Amaren's clothes. She hadn't even known tears were in her eyes until she felt a few happy tears on her cheeks. "Amaren, go an put these on," she told her son, who was still in his father's arms. "And do not get them dirty, or I will have your hide!" She teased him, as her son hurried to his room.
"Thank you," Returning his words, she didn't know how he did it, but she loved it. Purple was her favorite color, and she couldn't wait to try on the dress! She loved pretty things, and this was more then she had ever owned before! The fabric was so soft, yet strong! "It seems we are both full of surprises today," She teased him. Reaching over for more of the red fabric that she had cut from the cape, Guinevère handed it to him. "I had enough to make two capes." Only this one would not fit Amaren, as it was much too small. In fact it would only fit an infant. Her hands lifted to rest on her belly, while she waited for Arthur to understand what she was telling him. Her face glowing with happiness at the thought of them having a baby! That once again he would be a father, and she a mother!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT He smiled at her reaction, and knew he would have to tell her that Gwaine had . . . borrowed it from someone. He was not going to keep any more secrets from her. He closed his eyes during the brief kiss before setting Amaren down as Guinevère instructed him to go change . . . and to not get it dirty. Arthur smiled with amusement as he watched their son excitedly hurry to change into his new clothes. "We may have to return it after," he admitted. "But tonight, it is yours." And . . . should the day come when they were in the royal household, he would give her all the pretty things that she deserved. He slightly raised a brow in curiosity when she spoke of how they were both full of surprises. She pulled out another piece of red fabric and held it out to him.
He took it, looking over the size. It was tiny. Amaren already had his and even still, it was too small to fit him. Arthur just looked at it, every stage of curiosity, to confusion, to realization dawned on his features. And when the realization hit him . . . his eyes widened as he looked at his wife. She put her hand on her stomach and that just fully confirmed it. "Guinevère . . . " He breathed, emotion in his voice as he let the news process.
He could feel his heart practically explode with joy, wrapping his arms around his wife in a hug as he lifted her and spun her around one time before setting her back on her feet. With his arms still wrapped around her, he kissed her, this time more deeply than the previous one and let her emotion and pure joy pour out into the embrace. Easing out of it, he kept his forehead against hers, a smile immediately reforming on his lips as his eyes remained closed. One hand slowly trailed down her stomach and rested against it. Where there was another child growing inside of her.

Guinevère watched his face change, and she smiled at him. When he said her name she nodded, knowing what he was asking. Arthur moved to her, and spun her around. Guinevère laughed from the joy of the moment, and the sound faded under his kiss. "I love you," she told him, before kissing him again. She knew their time together would not always be so happy. She still felt the awareness in her that he had kept something from her for their entire marriage. She didn't know if she could be the woman beside him--but she knew that if you didn't embrace the good, then you'd have nothing to which to survive the bad with.
And with Arthur there was a lot of good. Breaking the kiss, she looked up at him. "I know the timing is horrid," they were about to go to war with his sister for a kingdom that he was the king of, "but I wanted you to know now, before you made plans for the future." Because he would be making plans for more then just a wife and son now. "Besides, you owe me a daughter," she teased, knowing that since she had a son she wanted a girl. Yet even if this was another son; she would love him more then anything else in any kingdom.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT It seemed that he could not stop smiling. "I love you too," he said, embracing the kiss. "More than I can say." More than he could ever truly express. She spoke of the timing and . . . well, he would not allow anything to taint the knowledge of a child. What it did mean was that he needed, more than ever, to keep her safe. Not that he wasn't going to do that before. But with what was going to be upon them . . . he had to be extra diligent.
"A baby born into this world symbolizes hope. New beginnings. A fresh start." He smiled softly, his hand still on her stomach as he looked into her wife's eyes. "Our baby will be born into a world of peace and prosperity. I will make sure of that." Determined to give his family a future of peace, not war. Of prosperity, not poverty. It was not being king that would allow this, but uniting a kingdom that had been under so much turmoil. A place that they could call home. He let out a small chuckle when she told him he owed her a daughter. "Well, in that case, we will just have to keep trying until I fulfill my promise," he said with suggestive teasing, leaning forward to kiss her again, and unable to contain the pure joy he felt in the knowledge that she would give them another child.

Guinevère realized two things in that moment--one, she loved him him more then she thought she did, and that was an ineradicable amount. He didn't think about the timing of the baby, and how this added one more thing for them to deal with. He only saw the joy of a child and welcomed it into their lives! He would embrace his role of father once again!
And the other, was the chainmail was not very conducive to her ability to touch him. In fact, she decided then and there she liked him out of it a lot better than in it, no matter how knightly it made him look. Unless of course he was going to battle, and then it kept him safe and she liked him in it! "I will ask Elyan to take Amaren tonight, so that we can talk." This time the word talk wasn't laden with heavy meaning--it was suggestive, and hinted to something better then their recent discussions.
There was still some things she needed to say, but tonight she wanted her husband in her bed--for he had been away from it FAR too long. The rest could wait until tomorrow.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Talk. He knew his wife well enough to know the different meanings of the word. His heart filled with anticipation, knowing that their nights would be busier in the days to come. "There is after all much to say," he said encouraging a flirtatious tease. Leaning forward, his lips hovered near Guinevère's ear. "And then, not much to say at all," he said in the same tone, this time in a lowered voice.
He drew his head back with a playful smile, planning to have said -- or did -- more but he heard Amaren come out of his room, dressed in the attire of a prince. Arthur smiled as the sight of his son . . . who was grinning from ear to ear. "You really do look like a prince," he praised him, looking over their son dressed so regally. Arthur smiled back at Guinevère. "If you'd like to get ready, I can take Amaren to the others. They will be joining us tonight." Gwaine. Percival. Elyan. Not knights or men of noble blood, but Arthur wanted her to know that they would be there. "I'll come back shortly and we can go together." Walk into the castle as husband, wife, son and . . . a baby to join them soon.

"There is a lot of things to not say." She agreed with him, and was grateful he was taking her son--Oh! "Amaren!" She breathed, bending down to look at her son. She felt the emotions well up inside her! He LOOKED like a prince now! "My son!" She pulled him to her, and hugged him! "You are handsome tonight!" Pulling back she told him, "do not get dirty!" Standing she looked at her husband. "I will see you soon, then."
Sometime later, Guinevère had scrubbed, and cleaned herself, and brushed out her hair. She pulled on her dress, which thankfully fit very well! She looked in their small mirror at herself, and smiled. She hoped Arthur thought her beautiful. She was enjoying dressing up tonight. That did not mean she was not nervous about getting to the castle and speaking to the queen. It was odd to think that she would soon lave her home and travel to another kingdom, and help the men take it over. She wondered what her father would say if he saw her now?
Hearing the door open, Guinevère took a deep breath, and walked out to the main room. She smiled at Arthur when she saw him. "It fits," She said, smoothing her hands over it.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur took Amaren to the others who were getting ready for the festivities. Arthur had a plan in mind, of how to elevate the men in the eyes of others. They were commoners to many of the knights, but to Arthur, they were his brothers. And tomorrow, he would knight them. "Take care of Amaren for a few moments," he instructed them, passing his son off to his uncle. "Do not let him get dirty," Arthur said while looking at Gwaine. And Gwaine seemed to notice. "Why are you only looking at me?!" He asked, while Percival and Elyan chuckled. "By Guinevère's instruction," Arthur added, knowing none of them should want to upset her. He spent a bit more time with them explaining things, before the time had arrived that they would need to go in. "Let me get Guinevère and we will all go in together." As a united front. Returning to the house, he walked in, only to freeze in his place once setting sight on Guinevère.
He could not form words in the moment as he just stared at her, eyes lingering over her form as his lips slightly parted. It was a if he had the wind knocked out of him for the briefest of moments. "You look . . . " No amount of words could accurately describe it. He had always thought her to be the most beautiful woman he had ever lay eyes on. This only reinforced that. "Beautiful," he finally finished, taking the steps towards her so that he was standing directly in front of her, getting a close up view of just how stunning she looked. "As I was not here to help you get into your dress . . . " And aid with any laces. His fingers skimmed over her shoulder, down her arm in a repeated up and down caress, still looking at her with soft longing, and now, a returned teasing flirtation in his voice. "I will make amends and help you out of it." Tonight.

Guinevère smiled and reached up to take his hand that was touching her. Lifting his palm to touch her lips to it. "I am counting on it." She told him, moving to touch his hand to her belly. "What should I expect tonight?" She asked and then a blush touched her cheeks. "I mean, from the feast." She explained, as she knew what to expect from him in bed. There he was a master at knowing her body, and how to make it sing for him.
However, she didn't know what to expect from a feast. She'd never seen a formal one before, and didn't know what all would happen there. What did one do beside go and eat? Was there dancing, or talking about something she should know about. "I am not even very knowledgeable about Camelot." She worried about that. "What if they ask me something, and I do not know the answer?" She had never even seen it! She feared she'd bee a poor queen if she couldn't not even answer the basic questions.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur was about to reply to her question with a tease, yet she quickly clarified, causing his parted lips to be silence as he instead just smiled teasingly at her. Then, thought over her question as to what would be asked. Adding her concern as to whether they asked something that she may not be knowledgeable about. Like Camelot. Arthur recalled the years he grew up in court. Over hearing Morgana's mundane conversations and even teasing her about it. How long ago that seemed. How far removed they were from such circumstances. "The queen will ask about your past. Your upbringing," Arthur began.
"She knows you are not of noble or royal blood, so do not feel you must hide any part of who you are." They had been able to tell, even without Arthur needing say anything. He also didn't want Guinevère to feel shy about that, for he was not ashamed in the slightest. He was proud to be her husband. Now and forever. "She will ask about our children." Names. Age. Whether they had just one since it was all that could be seen. Arthur smiled, his fingers moving to Guinevère's hair as he twirled curled lock over it over his finger. "She may ask where you got your dress from," he said teasingly, but there was the possibility that it would be an actual question. Women did love to talk about clothing.
"She will engage you in court gossip as the other ladies of court will join in." Something Morgana had often taken part in and Arthur had just rolled his eyes over. His hands went on either side of her upper arms. "You will be fine, Guinevère. We have their support as they know of our . . . unique circumstances. Any questions you do not wish to answer, politely decline. There will be no offence." He trusted her. She had such strong people skills that he was not at all worried for what conversation may arise. "And I will be at your side as much as I can." For he would not abandon her at such a feast.

That did not sound horrible--excapt for the dress part. Judging by Arthur's tone there was something there. Yet Guinevère decided the less she knew the better! She wasn't ready to let something ruin her happy feeling for tonight. "I think I can do that," She told him, wanting to prove she could be by his side, and be who he needed to be by his side. She was his wife, the mother of his children. His heirs. She could be strong. With time, this would get easier!
Smoothing her dress once more, she nodded her head to let him know she was ready. "Lets go find our son--pray he is clean--and begin this." Because tonight would be their first appearance. Tonight would lead into everything that would come next. She wasn't sure what that was or how it would happen; but she knew that the moment they walked into the castle that everything would begin. That there would be no going back.
Somehow he would find a way to reclaim his kingdom, and be a king. Somehow she would help him. He already had men, and another kingdom, willing to help him. They knew him in a way she didn't. Knew him as a ruler, and a prince. They knew how he would rule, and what to expect. She felt a light envy, or jealousy that they knew this and she did not. It was a reminder of the part he kept from her. She had yet to deal that inside her. Yet once again, she pushed it to the side so she could be in this moment know. Supporting him as best as she could.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur smiled and took her hand as they made their way outside their home. "I warned them to take care of him," Arthur stated, absolving himself of any blame should Amaren have dirty clothes now. But . . . it did not take long to see for themselves. Amaren came bounding up to them excitedly, his clothes still fresh and having a clean appearance. He did not fail to notice the gazes from their brothers upon Guinevère. Gwaine's ridiculous smirk making Arthur want to nudge him, but did nothing except give him a look.
Best Gwaine not mention the origin of the dress right now. Arthur wasn't going to ask about it either and he gave him a warning look to keep his mouth shut. Not that that every worked before. "Let's go," he instructed. Amaren did not need to be told twice as he was all to excited to enter the castle. They had been here for their whole live sand never once stepped inside. But this would be nothing, compared to returning to the castle he grew up in in Camelot. Linking their arms, Arthur took a slow breath and started to ascend the stairs with his family surrounding him.

Guinevère walked out with her husband, and laughed when he said that he had told the others to keep their son clean. Guinevère knew all too well what that meant, and the familiarity of it was smoothing. Their friends were known as playful, and even mischievous at times. There was a fair chance that Amaren would be clean, but also a fair change that all of them would be covered in mud, or feathers, or even once there was what she could only hope was ANIMAL manure. Apparently there was a really good story behind that one, but she had refused to let them tell it, using her silent displeasure be their punishment. They all enjoyed life . . . and she now realized that she would miss them when Arthur went to Camelot. Would they come? She wanted to ask them to come.
They were walking into the castle, and everything was bright, and clean, and beautiful. Arthur moved around effortlessly, and was able to speak confidently with everyone around him. He looked at ease here, and it was hard to see the reminders of how there was the whole part of him, a part of him that she didn't know. That he had chosen not to share with her. She knew he promised no more secrets, but it still hurt. It made her quite most of the evening, as seeing it was a bit overwhelming.
Yet everyone had been kind. She had not felt judged, or looked down upon. She managed not to spill her wine over the dress--and even when Gwaine, Elyan, and Percival had slipped out for a moment with her son, she hadn't worried they would embrasure her. She'd had faith in the men that she had known most of her life. Arthur left to speak to the king alone, and she wondered if that was kings did it. Spoke alone without their wife around. She wanted to know more, and be part of the planning, but she also had no idea what to plan for.
Guinevère stepped out while Arthur was away, and found herself int he garden to think. She felt overwhelmed, and a bit lost. Yet, excited for the future at the same time. The emotions were conflicting and she wasn't sure what she should be feeling right now. As she walked she heard laughter, and she found herself smiling, suddenly at ease. Turning the corner she came to rest with her hands on her hips, while she gave all of their friends a firm displeased look (while trying to hide her laughter) at the sight of them making her son climb a tree to toss down fruits. "Really?" She asked dryly, and they all grinned without guilt. 'You look very queenly there!' Gwaine teased and she pointed at him, "Don't! Get him down and get back in there!" She laughed but meant it! Watching them playfully scramble to get Amaren down, cleaned off, and back in . . . Guinevère decided being a queen might be like being a mother; and if her family was there, then she could do this.
As they all walked in together, they came upon Arthur, who Guinevère wondered if he had been looking for them. After all, his whole extended family had disappeared. They all paused there, before him. 'She did it!' Gwaine said, as they all laughed and kept walking in, leaving Guinevère alone with Arthur. "I had thought to ask them to come with us, yet now I question myself," She told him, a slight laugh in her tone. "It is time to leave?"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT It was so strange. Arthur had thought it would be difficult to fall back into the role of being a royal and yet . . . it came naturally. Perhaps naturally. Tonight however, it worked in his favor. He knew that being a husband and a father had given him a different perspective on things. He had matured since being prince and while he did not know of the the inner politics of Camelot, he knew enough of the rulings within the Kingdom. Everything seemed to be going well as they embraced the company and engaging in friendly competition. The king and queen were kind people and Arthur was grateful for it. When the time came to speak to the king along, he gave Guinevère a reassuring nod and went to speak with him about . . . well, many things.
Politics, mostly. The king had offered his army to aid Camelot and while Arthur was grateful and touched for the support, he told him that he did not wish him to get involved. Should Arthur fail, then he did not want to give Morgana a reason to go after him and his kingdom. Besides, as Arthur further explained, this was a civil matter and the less casualties, the better. The king seemed to respect that decision and spoke of his support to the 'true' king of Camelot. Conversations progressed until the hour was growing later and Arthur knew the event was drawing to a close. Shaking hands with the king they both stepped out and back into the grand hall . . . yet Arthur did not see his wife with the queen. Nor did he see the knights or his son. But, he was far from panicked. If they were all missing, it meant, they were most likely together.
And sure enough, he saw them walk in as a single front, Arthur just staring at them as his eyes fell to his son's wrinkled and slightly dirty clothes. Gwaine accused Guinevère and the rest laughed about it. Arthur smiled and just shook his head. He knew that these carefree days with his friends were over. He could no longer be just a blacksmith. And . . . he would miss it. More than he could describe. "I think they would come anyway even if they weren't asked," he said. He would tell her of what he had planned to do, an offer he would make them without pressure to accept. "It is," he answered. "They have offered us guest chambers within the castle," he told Guinevère, trying to see her reaction and whether she would prefer spending the night in their home, or here.

"I think they would come anyway even if they weren't asked," Guinevère laughed at that, and knew he might be right. They loved each other, and she knew Elyan might follow because he was fond of Amaren. The rest would surely agree to come as well. They could find role for them! Important ones! She would talk to Arthur about it soon, but his next words caught her off guard. "They have offered us guest chambers within the castle,"
Oh! Guinevère did her best to keep her face passive, and not betray her feelings. She liked her home, and she would miss it when they left. She'd spend years making it feel like home. She'd given birth there, and they'd conceived both children there. She had not been ready to leave it so soon however. "That was kind of them," Guinevère told him, trying to be supportive. Kings didn't sleep in one room homes, with curtains as walls. Where they had to build their own fires, and in beds that were a little old. She knew Elyan would be already taking Amaren home with him, and she didn't have the heart to tell him not to.
She wanted to go home, but she wanted to be a good wife to the man she loved above all others as well. Torn, she didn't continue her words.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Though she hid it well, Arthur knew his wife well enough to see that she felt conflicted. In the sense . . . that she wanted to go home. They had after all made plans to. Amaren was spending the night with Elyan, and they had wanted to spend the night with each other. Arthur smiled, taking her hand in his. "I thanked them for the offer," he said. "But I thought tonight, we could spend it at home." At their true home. A place that felt more like a home to him than any other.
He knew that Camelot was where he was born and raised, and it may need to become their new home . . . but this place, belonged to both of them. And for that, he cherished it. He knew it was not going to be easy to leave, so wished to give Guinevère as much time as he could within it. So with that, he began to lead her out of the castle, arm in arm, bidding goodnight to those they passed until they were walking the darkened streets through the marketplace to their house. "Did you enjoy tonight?" He asked, a way to see how she was feeling after everything; after being inside a castle as a royal and honored guest.

"I thanked them for the offer, but I thought tonight, we could it at home." Guinevère smiled, and her body relaxed as she misled up at him. "I love you," she said relieved that they could go home, to their home and their bed. She knew she'd have to leave it sooner or later and she would willingly give it up. Only not tonight. She felt herself at home, and wanted to return there after a night where she was so overwhelmed. "Thank you, I would like to go home." To their home. That they had built together.
"Did you enjoy tonight?" He asked, and Guinevère linked her arm with his as they begin walking home. That was a hard question to answer. "Most of it," she answered honestly. "I think it went easier then I had thought it would, and I enjoyed talking to the queen. She seemed . . . kind, toward hearing our story." The queen seemed to enjoy hearing about a prince and one of her citizens meeting and marrying. "Amaren ate until I feared he would sicken." She teased.
Yet, she felt she owed it to him to be honest a well. "You're different there." She noticed that. As a blacksmith, he seemed more at ease, and less guard. As a king, he moved differently, he spoke differently. He was still kind, and still strong; yet there was something in the way that he kept himself guarded, and controlled. "I still feel like there is this whole other person, that I know nothing about." The prince him, the one that is now a king. "They spoke of meeting you before, of hearing stories of things you did . . . The king said he loved to watch you joust, and I didn't even know you knew how." It hurt, and tonight, while wonderful, had been a reminder.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur smiled upon hearing her words. "I love you too," he said, never allowing them to go unresponded to without the same affections. He was at least glad to hear that she felt the night went easier than expected, smiling at hearing Amaren eat so much food. He was glad for that. That their son seemed to embrace this world but then, he was still young. Arthur knew that he would see the magnitude of it all and yet, vowed to protect him from it at the same time. He wished Amaren to be raised differently than how Arthur was.
For while he loved his father, it lacked the warmth of a mother. At least with Guinevère, Arthur never had to fear for that with Amaren. She then spoke of how he seemed different. He gave a small nod in acceptance, looking down for a moment for he knew, this was the first time she was seeing him in this way. But not the last. "As a once prince . . . perhaps king, there are certain expectations that others will have of me." He was trying to explain it as best as he could. "A way that I must, carry myself." He paused for a moment, still finding it interesting how quickly he fell back into that role. "I meant what I said Guinevère. That no one knows the truer me than you." Because as a royal, he had to keep himself guarded. He had to use his brain over his heart. He knew that was not how he wanted to rule, but it was how he was raised.
She then spoke of the king having enjoyed watching him joust, and her telling that she did not know he could do that. A small smile formed on Arthur's lips as the memories of such things. The excitement of the crowd. And . . . the pressures there were for him to win. His father expected nothing less. "There were many jousts, melees, and tournaments I partook in." His past was something he had been quiet about but now . . . he could share it with her. And wanted to be as honest as possible. "It was a way to prove to the people that I was fit to lead them." Just one of the many tests that he would have to face. "I fear I would be out of practice if I tried now," he said jokingly. Though, it had been some time. Some time since he trained his men while blind folded. Some time since he had rode on a horse and attempted to get his lance on the bulls eye. Some time since . . . everything.

Guinevère wished she knew the words to make him understand, without hurting him. Just because this has hurt her didn't mean she wished to share the pain. She wasn't sure how to move past it yet, or even how to deal with it. They'd had a child together six years ago. Before that they had married. Before that they had courted. Before that they had been friends. Yet during none of this had he shared his past with her. Instead he'd shared none of it. She had thought his past was something that hurt to talk about--not that he was hiding something.
Now it felt like others knew him better. They'd known 20 years of stories, adventures, and accomplishments. He'd been known as the best sword fighter in many kingdoms. People were willing to overlook that he'd been missing for YEARS and welcome him back with open arms because they felt they knew him well enough.
Yet he told her she knew his best. Guinevère wished it was easier to believe. She wanted to believe it! "I know you say that I know you best, but I do not quite feel that way. Not yet. Perhaps over breakfast you will share some of the stories?" She asked as they began to near their home. She didn't want to spend the whole night at odds with him. She wanted him to hold her, and to feel close to him. It would make everything else easier to handle.
