Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur had just returned a few hours ago from another failed endeavour. He could see his father's patience growing thin at these repeated failures, and Arthur felt it. For every moment that Morgana was gone . . . he feared what she may be enduring. He had to believe that she was still alive though. Which was why they kept going out and searching for her. But the cost was getting higher each time. They were losing more men, using more resources -- especially after the dragon attacks when the city was in need of repair -- yet his father would not stop. This time, they had been gone for weeks and upon his return, his father only asked of what had happened.
It was getting exhausting and as desperate as he too was to find Morgana, he could not keep risking the lives of his men. Speaking of, he was on the training field, watching their progress. Another had taken over in his absence and Arthur needed to see what state they were all in. So he stood there, arms folded across his chest, watching two of them spar. "Watch your footwork," he instructed. He would have to catch them up on their training but . . . he had no idea how long he was here for before the king sent him out again. As he watched, he caught a glance of Guinevère, quickly making her way to his tent. This immediately caught Arthur's interest. He had not seen her yet since his return -- considering it had been early in the day -- but for her to risk her presence on the training ground, and the tent . . . well, he was concerned.
"Next," he instructed, motioning to the next two men waiting. "Take over Sir Leon," he told him, as he made his way to his tent to see he. As soon as he stepped inside, he made his way over to her. "Guinevère, what's wrong?" He had missed her and had every intention of seeing her tonight but . . . the nature of their relationship was indeed delicate. Especially as it had progressed to one of more physicality. He still remembered it. Every touch. And while he had told himself it could not happen again, it had. But his mind was cleared of such things and focused only on what could have brought her to his tent in the middle of the day.

The dragon had come, and she had thought Arthur would die. She'd held him after he was injured from saving her life, and holding had turned into loving. His touch that night had been everything she had never imagined. Since that night, they'd spent more time apart then ever before. Morgana was missing, and Arthur was killing himself to find her. Guinevère felt sick with worry over her friend, and for a few days she thought that was what it was. The sickness. Only it wasn't. It wasn't that she was sick with worry.
Yet it wasn't worry. It was a baby. Se'd realized it a day days ago, and she's been trying to figure out what to do. Thankfully, she didn't have to think on that alone any longer. EVERYONE was talking about Arthur's return. Normally she'd have waited, endlessly, for night fall and sought him out; yet today should not wait any more. She needed to talk to him, and needed to do it now.
She knew where he'd be--all she had to do was think like Arthur. Arthur wanted to please his father, and pushed himself too far. Instead of resting after being gone for months she would be with his men. She wished she knew how to make him slow down, but she knew that he wouldn't. He wore the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders. She didn't want to add to it, but she needed to tell him.
Guinevère slipped into his training tent, meaning to wait for him there for there to be a break between training. Yet she didn't have to wait long, because he came in. "Arthur!" She breathed his name at the same moment he was asking, "Guinevère, what's wrong?" Her hands wrapped around him, and she held him. "Your back," and already with him arms around her she felt this would be easier, though she knew none of this would be easier. "I'm sorry to risk to coming int he daylight, but I needed to see you and I couldn't wait an other moment!"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur immediately wrapped his arms around her in return, holding her close. He closed his eyes, taking in the warm sensation he always felt when she was near. When he was able to hold her. Having missed it for so long, he wished they had forever in this tent. "I was going to find you the first chance I was able," he told her. Usually, it was at night when most others were asleep and there was less of a chance they would get caught.
He drew his head back to look at her, raising one hand to her cheek. "Are you alright?" He asked with genuine concern in his voice. He had already lost one person he loved . . . he could not imagine anything happening to Guinevère too. Whatever happened though, was clearly important and right now, in this moment, Guinevère had his undivided attention. But they both knew that it could only last so long. Eventually, someone would be looking for him or demand his presence. How he wished that things were different between them. Where he could truly give her the care that she deserved.

He touched her cheek, and Guinevère turned her face into it, before looking back up at him. Was she ok? No, she didn't think that she was. Guinevère reached for both of his hands and held them tightly while looking up at him. "I'm sorry," she began, knowing that her next words would make everything harder. "Arthur, I'm with child." She told him, holding hi hands tightly, and watching his face.
Arthur was the prince of Camelot, and she was a servant. His father would never allow them to be together, and it could end up costing her banishment or her life if it was known they were together. She wasn't sure how Uther would react if he knew she carried his grandchild. Guinevère knew that it wouldn't end well, though. He was angry, and ruthless--the case point was how he used his son so heartlessly over and over again. Guinevère didn't even want Uther to known about her child if it meant that he would treat this baby like he treated his son.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT She was sorry? Arthur wanted to ask her what for but even he could see that she was not done explaining. Not with the way that she gripped his hands, and the way her eyes looked upon his face. Then . . . she said it. "Arthur, I'm with child." Arthur froze, trying to process the words that seemed unreal. His eyes began to widen a little as they registered in his mind. She was with child. His child. Their child. Arthur had known this was a risk, which was why he also knew he could never physically be with her until they could actually be together without fear of the king's wrath. But that one night, they had lost themselves to their emotions and . . . had been together. Another time after that, but even Arthur that with the timeline, it had to have happened the first time. Not that he was even thinking of logistics. His mouth felt dry, yet he spoke the next words.
"Are you certain?" It was a stupid question that he regretted even as they fell from his lips. Of course she was certain. Otherwise she wouldn't have told him. He knew that this news should be happy. That they should be celebrating. That he should swing her in his arms and they should start making plans. But . . . they couldn't. Not with his father still ruling over them; a king who would never approve of his son loving a servant and . . . he could only feel fear for Guinevère and their unborn child. So Arthur fell silent, trying to think of what to say. Of what to do. His mind racing, and his heart beating heavy in his chest. "I . . . " He had no words. He had compromised her and now their baby. He let out a heavy breath, as if suddenly having been winded. "A baby . . . " He thought saying it out loud would make it more real. But somehow, it didn't. Somehow, he couldn't stop his head from spinning as he continued to try and let these words properly process.

He was stunned and that was understandable. This was already an impossible romance! His father would be livid when he found out--if he found out! She wasn't sure what would happen from this point, as she couldn't make that choice! She wasn't ready to make any choices! Thinking that she had to wait for him, or watch him marry another was hard enough, but to know that Uther could still tell him to marry a princess and she would have his child was even harder!
"I'm sorry," she told him, knowing it was not really something she'd done. Not alone, but she was still sorry she had to tell him this. That they were he with these hard choices to make. That this wasn't a happy feeling! A child should be welcomed and loved, and celebrated! Not met with fear and uncertainty! She didn't know what to do, and knew it was unfair for her to lay that question on him so soon. Yet, he would be leaving again soon. Uther would demand it, and she would be left here waiting. With his baby. "I . . . I know this is unexpected!"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur slightly parted his lips, as if trying to force any words out . . . but to no avail. For the first time in a long time, he felt fear. Real, genuine fear. For now he was not only responsible for the woman he loved, but the child that was created due to that love. He wanted to be happy and he knew a part of him felt joy and pride over the thought of being a father. But . . . the other part of him, was that part that felt fear. Scared, that he may not even be able to claim this child as his own. Yet rejecting it, was not an option either. "No," he suddenly said, realizing she had apologized. "You have nothing to apologize for." He had done this. He had allowed this to happen. He . . . had not controlled himself, and now he had endangered Guinevère and their baby. It was indeed unexpected and Arthur hadn't the faintest idea what he was going to do.
"I just . . . " He didn't know what to say, he didn't know how to handle this. He looked at her, trying to conceal the fear but knew there were emotions in his eyes. "Can't bare the thought of any harm coming to you or the baby." Honest words, yet ones that he knew came from his thought process of thinking about his father. And, they would need to make some difficult decisions. Approaching footsteps caused him to turn his head, though they faded away from his tent. It was just a reminder that they could not carry on this conversation here for long. "Where can we meet tonight?" He asked her. He would take the time to think this over, to try and have a plan that protected Guinevère and the baby. Yet right now, he couldn't think of anything. He could only think of her words. Of the fact that she was pregnant and they were going to be parents.

He looked how she felt, worried and afraid. He too knew his father, and knew of his ruthlessness. Morgana was his favored ward and he'd locked her up in a tower before; Arthur his only and cherished son, and he'd also been locked up a few times--if this is how he treated people he loved, she didn't want to see how he treated the ones he hated.
"You've traveled so hard, I will go to you. After the supper hour." With there being no Morgana, she had to be more careful moving int he castle but she could always explain that she was keeping Morgana's room from growing dusty, and that was what she was doing. Besides, it also meant that with no Morgana here right now she wouldn't be missed. She could go to him earlier and stay as long as needed. They would have time to talk. "Are you alright?" She asked, knowing that she wasn't and that he wasn't, but she wished there was something she could do to make it right.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur nodded in response to her suggestion of coming to his chambers. He then suddenly realized, he was going to have to practically beg his father to let him stay for the next couple of days. With the king so determined to find Morgana, he was sending Arthur out as often as possible but now . . . with the thought of a baby . . . Arthur's priorities were shifting. It was no longer about just finding Morgana. He now needed to protect the woman he loved and their unborn child.
Yet, the two were in direct conflict of one another. If he was out finding Morgana, he could not protect Guinevère or the baby. And if he was protecting Guinevère and the baby, he could not find Morgana. Arthur felt his head spin with the magnitude of the situation, her question pulling him out of his thoughts as she asked if he was alright.
Truth was, he wasn't. He was afraid. Terrified. Yet he knew that would be entirely unhelpful right now. He gently caressed her cheek with his thumb, lowering his head to look intently into her eyes. "We'll be fine Guinevère," he assured her. He would make sure of that. He put his hand on her stomach. "The three of us will be fine." Perhaps he was trying to convince himself as much as he was her, and hoped his words at least suggested he meant them. Because . . . there was no other option. The three of them had to be fine.

Guinevère nodded when he spoke, but then her breath caught as he touched her belly, where the child grew. Their child! Tears slowly slipped out as she felt his words and touch. They would be fine! She wanted to believe it, and it helped ease some of her worries--while she never doubted that he would not make her do this alone, HEARING and seeing him like this made her feel less alone!
"Yes," she whispered back to him, "We will be alright." They needed to make sure the baby would be alright; no matter what it meant for them. She wished that this meant they could be together, but she knew it wasn't Arthur's choice. Uther would never let it be so. "I will wait for you tonight," She told him, "Give Merlin the night off," She was trying to tease him, but it didn't quite come out as easy as she wished it too. With one final kiss, she turned and slipped out of his tent.
That night, when everyone was eating in the great hall, she walked up to his chambers and slipped in. Guinevère walked over to his desk, and sat at it, looking at everything he kept on it. His cape happened to be there, too, one of many he had she was sure. Turning it she found the Pendragon seal. Bringing it to her lap, she sat there staring at it, while lost in thought.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur watched her leave and sunk onto the stool in his tent. He thought over what Guinevère had just told him and . . . truth was, he hadn't the faintest idea what to do. Marrying her would only anger his father. Sending her somewhere safe would mean he couldn't be a part of the baby's life. He knew that right now, the primary concern was the king, and his reaction should he ever find out. His father wouldn't even let him rescue a servant. He would be beyond angry if he found out what had happened. And . . . would do whatever it took to remove any legitimacy that his child would have to the throne. Not that Arthur even cared about that right now. It wasn't until he heard a voice that he was forced to exit the tent. And the rest of the day went on as if he was in a daze.
As predicted, he had to plead with his father to let him stay for a couple of days. His father was far from pleased with Arthur's request, but he tries to reason with him, saying that there was much here that needed to be done. That he needed to train his men so that they were ready to find Morgana and fight off any foes. Eventually, his father agreed, though was not happy. Arthur knew he had to tread carefully. He was not of a rational mind when it came to his missing ward. Finally, Arthur was able to make his leave, knowing it was getting late. He did as requested, telling Merlin to take the night off. His friend was concerned, but Arthur assured him all was well. When he got into his room, he saw Guinevère sitting as his desk. "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting," he aplogized, noticing she was holding the cape in her hand . . . wondering what she was thinking about. "How, are you feeling?" He asked as he approached her.

Guinevère looked up when she hear someone enter, and exhaled when it was only Arthur. She'd been so lost in thought she forgot what might have happened if it had been Uther. She stood, and sat down the cape, watching him. "No, I was alright waiting." It had been nice to be in here again, and feeling him close. "I'm alright, jut overwhelmed." She admitted, putting it mildly, as she was still feeling as if she could freak out at many moment!
"And you," she asked him, moving closer so she could look up into his face, and try to see the truth. "I know this . . . . I wish . . . . " She didn't know what to say, how to make this better. How to help him adjust to this. Instead she tried something else, "I think, if things were drifferent, I'd be so happy right now." Had Uther not been king. Had Arthur been king. "A baby." Something born of her and him. Forever binding them and proof of their love. "Even knowing everything, I still want this baby. I want to be it's mother."

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Overwhelmed. Yes. That was the perfect way to describe it. For he too felt . . . overwhelmed. The conflict of joy over the news and crippling fear over the reality of the circumstances. "Overwhelmed," he answered, using the same word she had for it was exactly how he felt too. He listened to her tell him that if things were different, she'd be so happy. So would he. And that she wanted to be a mother to the baby. He moved to wrap his arms around her, holding her within them. Being as close to their unborn child as he could be in this moment.
"And I want to be a father." Regardless of what happened, he wanted . . . needed her to know that. But he feared what that would cost Guinevère and the baby. The way it would jeapordize them. "You're going to be a wonderful mother, Guinevère," he told her, knowing that she would. Having no doubts about that. "Despite, everything . . . there is an undeniable joy to be felt, over the idea that together, our love created a life." He was trying to focus on that. On the good. He wanted to somehow bring Guinevère's mind to ease and in the process, trying to calm the storm in his of what was going to happen. Of what to do. Of how best to protect the woman he loved and their baby.

Guinevère smiled up at him with a bitter sweet smile for a moment, before is faded from her lips. Overwhelmed. Yes they were just that. It was almost too much to bare. The knowledge that she could tell no one that she would be a mother, because she was both unwed and would be seen as Arthur's mistress. Arthur could tell no one because of his father's rage, and the fact that it would make his child a bastard. There was no winning in this.
"You'd be a wonderful father," she told him, "You will be!" Because he would be this baby's father, even if no one could know it. "I believe that in my heart," He would not be like his father. He would be better then Uther; and show any child of his love and understanding! He would not make his child grow up and fear telling him things, but welcome all things from him--or her! It could be a girl!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur's heart swelled with pride upon hearing her believe that he would make a good father. He had not often thought of fatherhood; his priority had always been being a king. But . . . Guinevère had changed that. Ever since falling in love, he had thought more and more of being a husband. Being a father. And suddenly, thoughts of being a king had been secondary. Truth was, he'd never thought he would fall in love. He'd always thought that he'd marry for the good of the kingdom. But now, the thoughts remained bitter sweet. To be a father and yet . . . to fear being one.
He took a slow breath, looking at her, trying to figure out what the best course of action was. But first, he had to ask her. "What do you want to do, Guinevère?" He asked her softly, wondering what her own thoughts were about how this should be handled. "I know . . . that I can not claim him." Saying the words made his heart ache more than he thought possible. But, it was the truth. He could not publicly claim their child. "It's not safe for either of you." Because of his father. Because of the wrath he feared the king would inflict on Guinevère and their baby. Yet, he did not want to reject Guinevère of their baby either. He just knew . . . that because of him, they were unsafe.

What did she want to do? She wasn't sure she was even ready to think about making that choice, yet she knew the more unsettling feelings right now came from not knowing. She knew that no matter the choice she made, it wouldn't be a good choice to make. Either she lost Arthur, or something equally has bad would happen. If she left, then he'd loose ever knowing his child. If she stayed, then she'd loose her job and they could be caught. If she married another . . . .
"I do not think I can make a choice right now." She told him, blinking back the tears, trying to stay calm. "I cannot think of way this ends without hurting everyone." But she knew she had to make the choice that was best for the baby. They came first now, and that meant she needed to prepare her heart that she might end up loosing Arthur. He would always be there, but not there at the same time. "I wish things were different. I wish you could be there."

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur felt the emotion building within him. But, he knew he could not let it all show right now. He could see Guinevère's eyes moisten with tears and . . . he needed to remain strong. The inevitable mourning for her and their baby would come later. Right now, he needed to reassure her. To, help make those difficult decisions that neither of them wanted to make. Or even wanted at all. Yet, all he could think about was how he failed everyone. Family was the most important thing to him in all this world, and yet . . . he was losing them. One by one. He'd failed in protecting Morgana. He'd failed his father every day he returned without her. And now, he failed in being there for Guinevère, and despite the fact that their baby was not born yet . . . already failed, in being a father.
"I wish for that too," he breathed, moving forward so his forehead rested against hers. "More than anything, I wish for that." But he knew, it was better to lose them both on their terms, and not his fathers. For, he feared what it would mean if his father was to find out. "Guinevère . . . " His voice held the emotion he was attempting to suppress. "I'm so sorry," he said again, slightly shaking his head, for these words would truly hurt them both. And that was the last thing he ever wanted to do. "It's not safe for you here anymore." She needed to leave. And he only had limited time to help relocate her. He had the couple days here and then, was unsure how long he would be gone for again. Their time was very limited. Far more than he wanted.

Guinevère felt his words more then her's heard them, and the feeling hurt. She wasn't ready to make such a choice, and she knew that the choice wasn't easy for him--but nor was she so willing to just leave. She loved him, and if she left then she would do this on her own, and he'd never get to see the child. She knew he couldn't tell his father, but she wished he'd not made the choice so quickly.
Thus, she understood that this would never be easy for either of them. "I know," she began, knowing that it didn't matter the choice they made someone was hurt. He wouldn't see his son, she'd stay and he'd see his son (or daughter) and then not get to touch him; Uther could find out and she'd be in trouble then. They had to think of the baby, and what was best for it. They both couldn't think of their feelings, and had to make this choice with their minds clear. "But I don't want to go. I want there to be a way I can stay!" She needed a magical way to fix things.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT This was not the way Arthur wanted things to be. He had thought that one day . . . he would be able to marry Guinevère. That if they were ever to have a child, it would be a happy occasion, because they would be together for all to see. He also knew that he could never ask her to wait, so the possibility of such a thing had seemed further and further away. But now . . . all choice seemed stripped of them. Circumstances that had brought them together, were ironically now tearing them apart. "I wish for that too," he breathed. He could not even imagine what it would be like without her. Knowing, that out there somewhere . . . was the woman he loved and the child they had together. "For I can not bare the thought of you leaving," he admitted.
"But more than that, I can not bare the thought of anything happening to you or our child." Because of him. And it would be because of him. His father would never accept this. And Arthur feared of what it would cost Guinevère. "I am able to remain for another day," he told her, relieved for that though it would make it no easier to leave.
