Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur was conversing with a vendor, trying to wrap up the conversation with a very zealous merchant. He was walking backwards, inching his way from the stall while remaining polite and keeping eye contact. What Arthur didn't do was watch who was behind him so as soon as the conversation was over and Arthur turned, he practically collided into a young girl. Fortunately, reflex kicked in and Arthur's arms caught her, braced her before she fell. "Are you alright?" But he paused when he saw who it was, immediately recognizing her though he had never met her before.
He froze, an array of emotions racing through him as if trying to determine what he felt upon seeing her. Upon seeing Guinevère's daughter. A daughter that was not his. A daughter . . . she had created with another. That was when Arthur noticed the redness in her eyes and tear stained cheeks. What happened? Was her mother alright? "What's wrong?" Arthur asked softly, genuine concern in his voice as he crouched down to be at the same eye level as her . . . his hands still on either side of Lunete's upper arms.

Lunete felt an adult crash into her, and then grab her as she fell. She began crying a little harder because now she was scared she was in trouble. When she blinked up she noticed it was the king. Mama had showed him to her last night. Lunete knew she was supposed to do something but she couldn't remember what it was.
"I'm lost," she told the king, wiping her eyes but they kept falling with more tears. She had even dropped her flowers when she crashed intot he king! Was she in trouble for crashing into him? "I'm sorry I hit you!" She said through tears, not wanting to be in trouble for crashing into the king!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur felt terrible, seeing the tears stream from her eyes. Part of him wanted to wipe them, the other part had to remind himself that she was only a part of Guinevère, not him. Hearing that she was lost though, brought some relief for it meant that neither her nor Guinevère -- or anyone else was close to -- was harmed.
"It's ok," he told her in a soft voice. "I'm the one who wasn't looking where I was going," he added on with a smile, not wishing for her to feel guilty for her actions. "Do you remember what area you last saw your mother?" He asked her. He knew this place like the back of his hand. "I'll help you find her." He'd get her home. "I promise." Further words of assurance to as he continued to smile at Lunete.

Lunete watched the king smile at her and she felt a little calmer. She still wasn't sure if she wasn't in trouble but she didn't feel the edgy panic that she had a moment ago. He looked nice. He didn't look mean. Mama had said he was the best king, but she still knew that kings were the boss of everything! She didn't want him mad at her. What if he said she couldn't go to his house--castle again.
"I don't know. Mama was making a dress, and I wanted to look around. I went too far and I can't find my way back." She didn't even know which way to turn! She looked at the king and wiped her face with her hand. "Am I in trouble? Mama says you help people. Can you help me?" Mama would be worried that she got lost, and never let her go anywhere alone again! She'd never been in the city before and to all looked the same to her! How would she ever learn to get around?!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur listened to Lunete explain that Guinevère was making a dress and that Lunete had strayed too far. Which meant, that Guinevère would also be panicking in looking for her daughter. The sooner they found each other, the better. She then asked if she was in trouble, and Arthur wanted to quickly erase the thought of that from her mind. "You are not at all in trouble," he assured her. To hear that Guinevère spoke of him as helping people . . . well, now more than ever he was glad for it. As it made Lunete seem to accept his help without being wary or too frightened.
"Absolutely," he said with a continued smile, one that grew at he stood up, and offered his hand to her. "We'll find your mother. Come on. Let's look down this street." They would walk street by street, until they found her. And Arthur would inform any guards patrolling so that they were also made aware of the situation. "Did you know that when I was young, I also got lost in Camelot," he began to tell her, in the hopes of distracting her and also letting her know that this happened, to everyone. Not to mention the fact that it was indeed a true story.

Lunete watched him stand up, and offer his hand to her. She wiped her face and took his hand, her tears slowly stopping now that she had an adult who was going to help her. He didn't seem to think she was in trouble, and didn't seem mad at that's ran into him. She hoped Mama didn't find out she ran into the king! Mama always said to watch where she was running!
She looked around while they walked until he spoke, and then she looked up at him in surprise. "Kings get lost too?" She asked, seeming not to realize he wouldn't have been a king then. SHe thought for a moment then corrected herself, "Were you a king them?" She knew that he wasn't always a king. SHe also knew that it went prince then king. OR Princess and then a queen! Her Papa had called her a princess, but she wasn't really a princess. "Did you get scared?"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT When she took his hand, he began to walk alongside her, making their way down the street as his eyes searched the crowd for any sign of Guinevère. He smiled at her questions, looking at her occasionally as he answered them. "They do," he told her. "I was a prince at the time, and wanted to prove that I knew the woods. So I took a horse and rode as fast as I could into it." It had not ended well. Arthur had been lost for a day, and had it not been for the search party that the king sent out . . . he wasn't sure what would have happened. "I got lost," he continued. In fact, he had been around her age when it had happened.
"And, I was very, very scared," he told her with a smile. "But the knights found me and brought me home." To an incredibly furious father. Arthur hadn't been allowed to ride for over a week after that. He still remembered trying not to cry in his father's presence, saving his tears for when he was alone. He only understood when he was much older, that the king's anger had been to cover up his fear.
Stopping at one of the stalls, Arthur reached for a small pink handkerchief with embroidered flowers around it, giving a couple of coins for the purchase. He then crouched down in front of Lunete and gently dabbed her tears with it before holding it out for her to take. "You are very brave, Lunete." His words of praise. "Besides, the forest is bigger than the market and if the knights could find me, then we will most certainly find your mother," he reassured her, standing up once more and continuing their walk.

He got lost int he woods? Lunete couldn't imagine going into the woods alone--but yet she suddenly wanted to try it. Not now, but one day! She could be brave. Like Uncle Elyan! He has been everywhere! "Did your Mama yell at you?" She asked, knowing her Mama didn't yell but she'd never been lost before. She'd see other Mama's yell and worried this time she might.
The king bought something and then used it ti wipe her face. Lunete was glad the king was so nice! She knew that Uncle Elyan said she shouldn't bother the knights and king, but maybe he was wrong. She smiled a soft, yet still hesitant, smile at him when he called her brave. Then she decided he was nice enough, and pushed forward to wrap her arms around him. Lunete was a lot like her brother, and affection, like her heart, was worn on her selves. "I can be brave," She promised him, pulling back to look at him. "Like you were in the woods! Is that how you learned to be brave? Mama said you were the bravest of the knights." She was clearing trying to show him how she could be brave, though her face still looked worried, she was wiping her tears away and trying to lift her chin!

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Did his mother yell at him. Arthur still remembered how he felt at the time . . . and how he had longed for nothing more than a mother's hug in that moment. To feel the safety and security of a mother's hug. He also knew that mentioning his father's reaction would not be helpful. In fact, mentioning his father at all would not be helpful, considering Lunete has recently lost hers. "My family was just happy to see me," he told her truthfully. Fear masked by anger. But, he knew that Guinevère would just be glad to hold her daughter in her arms once more. No sooner did the thought enter his mind, that he felt Lunete wrap her own arms around him. Arthur paused for only a second before he returned the gesture, gently wrapping his arm around her, closing his eyes for a moment as a smile formed on his lips.
His heart swelled with emotion, so incredibly happy that Guinevère found the joy of motherhood . . . even if it was not with him. When he drew his head back to look at her, he continued to smile at her next question . . . at the words that her mother had spoken. She spoke of him? Knowing it could not have been easy to do so, Arthur felt a sense of honour upon that. "I learned to be brave, by letting people help me," he told her. A lesson he had learned much later in life. "To know, that it's ok to get scared once in a while. But being brave, comes from here," he said, his finger pointing to her heart. "And you, I think are braver than I was. Maybe even braver than me and all the knights," he said smiling. Something that she got from her mother.

The king hugged her back and Lunete felt a lot braver. When a king was walking side you then you really did have nothing to fear. She held the handkerchief that he bough tightly in her hand, and wanted to prove him right. She was brave! "All the knights?" She said surprised, "I've never fought a dragon! They fight dragons! I'm afraid of dragons!" She didn't see how she was braver then ALL the knights.
Guinevère was looking for her daughter. She wasn't worried at first, but as she looked more and more she began to grow concerned. The more she looked the more worried she grew. The longer she looked then more a sharp feeling of panic began to set in. Her heart beat so hard in fear, and she began to almost run down the rows of stalls, looking for Lunete.
Finally, she turned the corner and saw her! Guinevère lifted her hand to touch her chest as she almost sighed in relief--almost. Arthur bent to her, and used something to dry her tears. Guinevère froze. The sight of the man she loved doing something so touching to her daughter had her unable to move. Her breathing felt like it stopped. Lunete hugged him, something common for her to do, and Guinevère's hand moved to cover her mouth.
Her daughter, and Arthur--two of the three most important people to her where hugging; and she hadn't even known they'd met. Lunete was talking to him, her eyes wide and serious. Guinevère wasn't sure what happened, but she inhaled deeply, realizing she had really stopped breathing; and began to hurry forward. Though she didn't call out, instead moved toward the siren call of wanting to hear Arthur speaking to her daughter, and know what was being said. She wasn't sure how she felt about this, but she needed to see it.
Even just this once.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur's smile remained in place as she spoke of fighting dragons, and that she was afraid of them. "There are many kinds of bravery," he told her. "Did you know . . . your mother saved the lives of the knights. She pulled one out of the way of danger." She had pulled him out of the way. A fond memory. A bittersweet one.
"She didn't have to fight a dragon or creature, to show how brave she was." Arthur recalled every time he had seen her display the utmost bravery. Especially with the dragon attacks. "It is your strength of heart, that makes you brave." Arthur had taken time to learn that, for he was raised to believe that it was your combat skills and mind that made you strong; made you brave. Made you able to be king. Guinevère had helped him learn that it was also your heart. Happening to glance at an approaching figure, he smiled with relief. "Turn around," he said in a quiet voice to Lunete, before his gaze rested on Guinevère.

"It is your strength of heart, that makes you brave." Guinevère stood there, behind her daughter and watching Arthur's face as he spoke to Lunete. It was everything to her right now. Lunete and Guinevère still missed Auden, and always would. But seeing Arthur--the man who held her heart in ways that no one else could even try too--was showing her daughter with another man such kindness.
Lunete turned around, "MAMA!" She squealed and jumped toward her, Guinevère bending to wrap her arms around Lunete. Over her daughter's small frame, Guinevère held Arthur's eyes with so much emotion swimming in them. "I was worried about you!" Guinevère said, pulling back to look at her daughter's face. She looked alright. "Where have you been?" Lunete was allowed to play near the house, but when Guinevère checked on her she was done. "I got lost but the king was taking me home! Look! He bought me a pretty handkerchief!" Guinevère looked at it for only half a second before she looked like Arthur. "Thank you," For more then just finding her. For his kindness. For his comfort. Lunete turned to look at him as well, "Thank you!" She said with a bow.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur's smile grew watching the two reunite, his heart swelling with emotion upon seeing it. The love of a mother and daughter. The love of Guinevère and her daughter. It warmed his heart and made him wish . . . together, they could have experienced that. He couldn't imagine life without his children, but all those thoughts of hoping to one day marry Guinevère, to one day start a family with her . . . it just reminded him of how he felt about her. Of how he never stopped feeling about her.
Hearing her gratitude, his smile nearly faltered when Lunete bowed. But Arthur lowered his head in response. "I was telling Lunete that she is very brave, like her mother," Arthur said, summarizing their basic conversation. Knowing, he had to say something to break the emotional intensity he felt in this moment. "I should . . . leave you to take her home." Something made him want to stay; something strong, but he knew that it was not fair, nor his place to do so. "I hope we can meet again," he said smiling at Lunete, before glancing at Guinevère as if to ask whether it was alright for him to make such a statement.

Guinevère tried not to stare at Arthur, but this moment was very big for her, and she'd had no chance to prepare herself for it. Arthur said he hoped they met again, and her heart gave a little sharp jump at the though. They'd have lives that never touched in ways, and now here they were touching and lingering . . .
"Will you tell me the story next time? Of my mother saving the knights?" Guinevère blinked, that bringing her out of herself. "It was not as impressive as the king is making it to be." She said with a small smile. Arthur had said they should leave, but she couldn't just walk away without thanking him once more.
Reaching for him she paused, her hand falling back to her side--forgetting that what was between them 20 years ago wasn't allowed now. She couldn't touch him. Not here in public. Not at all. Knowing he hated it when she bowed, and wanting to do it his way in just this moment since she was so thankful, Guinevère simply said, "Thank you. Her eyes looking into his. "This means the world to me."

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT To tell Lunete the story, would be such a great honour. A pleasure that Arthur had never thought he'd ever get to experience. "Your mother is right, it is not as impressive," he began to say. But the smile reformed, and he continued. "It is more impressive," he added. "And it would be an honour, to share it with you." He often told his children the tales of Camelot . . . being able to tell Lunete of them, meant a great deal. Though, he knew he would have to check with Guinevère to make sure that it was alright.
Guinevère thanked him and Arthur locked eyes with her, knowing that the emotions he felt in this moment, were starting to show in his gaze, though he tried to keep most of them guarded. "It . . . means a great deal to me too." To allow him to talk to her daughter; to not be upset that he was so close. So much was between them and yet, there was this mutual acceptance of the other. "Take care, Guinevère. Lunete. Until we may meet again." And Arthur had to force himself to turn around and leave . . . unsure why it was so difficult to walk away.

"Your mother is right, it is not as impressive," Guinevère looked over at him, having not planned to sing her own praises, but was a little surprised--Oh. She knew that look. Guinevère fought a smile as he added, "It is more impressive, and it would be an honor, to share it with you." Blushing, she felt her daughter looking up at her and then back at the king, and then back at her. Arthur had always been the charming one, and clearly that had not changed. Lunete looked in awe of just being around him.
"It . . . means a great deal to me too." She knew they were speaking of more then just this moment, but for the deeper meaning behind it. Guinevère watched him walk away, wishing he didn't have too. Wishing there was some reason she had to call him back and speak with him more. "Come, and we will find our way home." She told her daughter, looking back once more at Arthur, before going back to her part of town.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Galahad was not happy! His tutor failed him on his geography test and even told his father about it! Why did he have to know about kingdoms and regions?! About borders and lines?! He would never need to know any of that! Galahad may not be book smart, but he was going to prove that he was smart with books. Just, not reading them. He sneaked into the library, knowing that their old kook of a librarian wasn't in there. He made his way down the aisles looking for the area that he knew his tutor got the books from. Once there he grinned, searching around for a stool and climbing up it. He then proceeded to open the books, one by one, and pulled out the small vile he had . . . of itching powder.
He had smuggled it out of the physician's quarters. Now, it was HIS turn to teach their tutor a lesson! And unlike all the gibberish his tutor taught him . . . it was a lesson he was not going to forget! Shaking the powder in a few books, Galahad decided that would do! He was stepping off the stool when his foot caught, causing him to stumble and fall onto his back, a few of the books on the opposite shelf falling on him. Instinct kicked in long enough to hold his arms up to block his face.
Lying there, he felt his heart racing. Attempting to stagger to his feet, it was then he noticed that his foot was stuck in between the steps of the stool! Oh no! This was not good! He grunted as he tried to struggle free of it! Come out foot, come out! That was when he heard footsteps and his face twisted in agitation! This is not good he thought to himself as he tried to pull his leg to free his foot!

Guinevère was walking around the castle with careful eyes. She was dropping off a dress she made for someone, and she was hoping to see Arthur. It sounded silly when she said it, but she even had a 'reason' to want to speak to him. She would ask to speak with him, and when he gave her a moment of his time she would tell him that . . . . . ummm . . .
Alright, she was working on that. All she knew was that she had offered to bringt he dress here so she'd have a reasont o cross paths with him, but she'd yet to think of why they needed to speak. It needed to sound real, without sounding silly. In truth, she just wanted to see him again. Ever since that say int he market with Lunete she had been thinking of him. Dreaming of him. Looking for him int he market. Hearing his voice when he wasn't really there. It was getting slightly out of hand. She was weakening in her efforts to keep herself from--Was that a crash?
Guinevère--after years of living in Camelot--slowly walked forward unsure of what she'd find out the bookcase. When she did, she noticed the boy with the trapped leg! "Oh no," She said, setting the dress to the side and bending to help it. She paused as she got closer--it had taken her moment but she knew him now. "My lord, allow me to help you." Her voice was low, and shaken; and she took a deep breath. Arthur's son. Arthur's son that he had with his wife. The wife that he married when he couldn't marry her. His second son that he had with her.
Guinevère reached for his leg, and held it still while pulling the stool and twisting it gentle off. "Are you injured?" She asked, still sitting on her knees to look down at him. Poor boy was trying to reach a book? And had fallen? She looked at his face, and saw so much of his father there--yet some of his mother too. Her heart hurt but she wouldn't let it show.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Galahad stared at the woman who entered, not knowing who it was! That made it worse . . . almost. "Don't touch me!" He protested, trying to move away. Truth was, he was embarrassed and he didn't need anyone to see that he was stuck and needed help. But, she reached down and gently moved his foot free.
Galahad immediately staggered to his feet, brushing himself off from the dust that covered him. He was going to get in so much trouble! He looked up at the woman, still having no idea who she was! She didn't look like a servant in the castle. "You're going to tell my papa aren't you," he asked rhetorically. "Everyone always tells him everything," Galahad grumbled bitterly. Looking at the vile that had rolled out of his pocket eh quickly reached down and pocketed it, hoping she didn't see it.

He was . . . a feisty little boy. He pulled back once free and staggered up, reminding her up a frightened animal who was freed from a trap. He even dusted off his clothes, leaving her leaning back to keep it from her face. Ah yes, young princes. How well she was beginning to remember. Yet still, it was different because it was Arthur's son. Arthur's son with another. "You're going to tell my papa aren't you," He said sounding . . . resigned, and almost angry? Clearly upset? "Everyone always tells him everything," Ah yes, he was upset.
Guinevère looked down for a moment, feeling her heart beating hard but knowing that she couldn't let a child be upset. Especially Arthur's. Looking back at the young prince she gave a calm smile, and raised an eye brow. "Why? What you done something that needs telling?" She asked, having seen him put the vile in his pocket. HE was a PRINCE and she knew she had to mind her boldness, but still; he was also a child. Looking up at the books, making a point to let him see, and then looking down at the pocket that held the vile.
"A prince need not share his secrets," he was hiding the vile here? Or taking it out of hiding? What was in it? She didn't know him well enough to begin to guess. "Though I confess, I am curious. Why the vile is so important?" Years of working int he castle, and of being a mother left her voice calm, but strong. She didn't try to take it, but she let him know she saw it without threatening to tell on him. She wondered if he often found himself in trouble, and if he was often reported on.
The life of a prince was never easy.
