Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT She saw the vile! Well, there went his hopes to keep it secret! He couldn't tell if she was going to tell his father or not. She just stayed . . . calm, and told him that a prince need to share his secrets. Before asking why the vile was so important. Galahad wasn't about to offer that information. If she wasn't going to tell his father, she would most definitely change her mind if he gave her more reason! Besides, he was already doubting she wouldn't. WHY did he have to get caught?! This was an otherwise brilliant plan!
After hearing her questioning the vile, Galahad folded his arms across his chest. "A prince need not share his secrets," he repeated, purposely using the exact same words she had, only this time, to answer her question, only giving a bit of attitude with it. Giving her a look, he attempted to take a step away, but instead, let out a slight whimper of pain, realizing his foot was hurting . . . a lot! And though he didn't know it, it was from the angle in which he had fallen. Trying not to let it show he just looked at the unfamiliar woman as if waiting for her to leave so he could get out of here and she wouldn't have to watch him lip! He was already embarrassed enough! No one could know about this!

Guinevère had to keep from smiling at his reply, "Well said, my prince, " she told him, also picking on his very slight wince in pain. She knew he was hurting and his pride was all that was holding him up. Oh Arthur, she thought. She could tell he kept busy with this one. She envied him having so many children. It seemed she wasn't meant to have a son, though they'd try for a while. Life didn't hold that for her.
"I have to agree with you. A prince needs to keep them too. Imagine a world were the prince couldn't be trusted? Or worse, feared? Hmmm, perhaps secrets are a dangerous thing too? What say you, my lord? Are they good or dangerous?" She said as if not realizing that the vile could mean trouble. She imagined that there wasn't anything dangerous there, but she was also trying to make sure. "I am just surprised that you're able to stand." Guinevère was used to pride, she could handle pride. "What with your foot and all. You're very brave. You know when you're father fought the dragon, I was his nurse." The memory took her, and she had look down for a moment. The words came count out before she planned them. Looking back up at him, "I've seen men cry from injuries, but you're being very strong there. Can I see it? I can look at how bad it is, so I know how strong you're being?"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT A world where princes couldn't be trusted. His father often told him the value of building trust with the people; of earning their trust not just expecting it. He didn't want to be a tyrant prince. He'd heard stories from others about tyranny. "Depends on who's keeping them," he answered with the same tone as before. "My father says trust is to be earned. So I don't trust you with any of my secrets." For the sole fact that he didn't know her. He didn't even know her name and he was going to act like he didn't care enough to know it! He only knew her as the woman who could tell on him. She then said that she was surprised he could stand.
But what distracted him most . . . was when she said that she was his father's nurse. His eyes slightly widened but quickly caught himself as he pretended not to care. "How were you his nurse? I have never seen you before in my home." He didn't understand! That was so long ago! Even before Alymere! And . . . had she been in his home this entire time?! No! He knew all the servants and their roles. Papa had made sure of it. "I don't need to show it to know I'm strong." But, curiosity did get the best of him as did he desire to boast if it looked bad.
So he sat on the ground and pulled off his boot. The action caused him to wince, before pulling off his sock and looking at his ankle. It was swollen. Bruised, and discoloured. Fascinating! Galahad gave it a little poke. He was always intrigued by wounds. The physician would always send him away when he kept trying to watch. "It's purple!" He announced, more interested than scared. As if she couldn't see it, he felt the need to state the obvious. "It does not hurt," he added with a slight air of arrogance. But, that wasn't entirely true. It did hurt, especially when he tried to walk on it!

"How wise of your father," Arthur. She could see him in his son, and yet see how his son was his own person as well. It must not be easy being the second son. She wondered if that was why he was so strong willed. "My name is Guinevère, my lord. Daughter of Tom who was a blacksmith before he died." Was killed. Though that was long before the child's time. "I was a servant in the castle until I married and moved away. During that time I've seen a Griffin attack the roads to the citadel, a dragon attack the city, and many, many other evils try--and fail--to bring down the castle." It was an introduction, so he could know her. "I was many knight's nurse during that time."
She thought of Arthur talking to Lunete and she smiled. A fond memory. One she felt in her heart still, as strongly as when it happened. Galahad pulled off his sock, and looked at his ankle, "Oh my gosh!" Guinevère felt the words come out of her, and she reached forward to gentle touch it! How dark it was already! "How does it not hurt?" She asked, turning to reach for part of the bundle she carried. Pulling out the wrapping for the dress she moved back to him. "We need to bandage it--Don't poke it, my lord it will turn black!" It wasn't scolding, but discouraging! She reached for his leg and waited to see if he'd let her wrap it.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Galahad listened to the woman explain who she was; her history among the castle and his family. Hearing that she had seen some of the exciting stories that he heard from everyone! "Nothing can bring down the castle," he exclaimed, proud of his home. "My father, Uncle Merlin, and all the knights protect it!" Their home would last forever! That was what Galahad believed anyway. "Are you a servant again? Is that why you're here?" In the castle; in his home. "Or are you a nurse here?" Since she said she helped many injured men. Did the physician have some help now?
Seeing her reaction to his wound, Galahad looked at her and back at his foot. "It doesn't!" He exclaimed almost boastfully; proudly. Her next words made his eyes slightly widen with excitement. "It can turn black?!" And with that, he began to poke it repeatedly, as if wanting to see how much more discolored it could get! "It's not changing," he said disappointingly. "Wait, what are you doing? I don't want to wear a dress on my foot! I'm not a girl!" He slid back, away from her. He only saw that she had taken something from the dress she was walking around with, not what she had actually taken, making a face at the very idea of wearing a dress on his swollen foot.

"No, my husband died, and I've returned to the city with my daughter to be clothes." She was good at it, and enjoyed it. Already she was having orders in come almost faster then she could make them. Guinevère for one enjoyed the challenge of making each dress or outfit different just enough that it was special to the wearer. "I was here today to deliver a dress."
He was poking it! Reaching for his hand she tired to stop him, gently blocking his fingers from it. "You're going to make it worse!" She said, shocked he wasn't hurting--and since he seemed to like her shock over his injuries she played it up even more. "It is not a dress, my prince, it's a dressing! A bandage to help hold the ankle steady so you can walk without pain! . . . not that you're feeling any, but it will hurt worse if we don't wrap this tightly around it!" She tried to think of something to help him realize she needed to help him. "May I be as bold to ask if you're seen a scar on your father's shoulder? The one from the dragon? I bandaged that one myself, and if I can bandage a dragon scratch then I can bandage this." She hoped he'd let her now! Speaking of his father's shoulder was a slight rick (hinting that she'd seen his father shirtless) but as he'd been shirtless in the infirmary she knew many had. Besides, she'd side she was the nurse. "And if you let me, I will tell you a story of how it all happened."

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Her husband died. Well, oh. Galahad's mother had died, but he didn't feel like sharing any of that. Besides, the entire kingdom knew. He jerked his hand away when she moved to stop him. "Don't touch me," he said again, clearly not liking others stopping him from his actions. "I don't . . . think I need a bandage." But he also knew that he had to get out of here! Letting out an annoyed huff he stop moving away from her and just stared at his foot before looking at her. "Don't tell anyone about this, ok?" As if Galahad thought he could actually get away with hiding this from everyone.
His face twisted once more, suggesting that she could bandage this as she had bandaged his father's wound. "Fiiiinnneee," he said, clearly not pleased with it but . . . he needed it healed! He pulled up his pant leg a little more, his nose crinkled at the sight, before the dragon mention fully distracted him. It was one of his favorite stories. "You know about the dragon story?" He asked. "Papa fought the dragon! Before Uncle Merlin sent it away!" The Dragonlord! "I wish I could see it one day!" How cool would it be to see a dragon?! "That's how he got the scar! He was fighting it!" As if that was all there was to the story.

Guinevère watch him grow displeased with her touching him and she wondered if it was because he didn't like anyone touching him, or if it was because she was a servant in his mind or if there was another reason? He told her not to tell anyone about this, and Guinevère knew he wouldn't be able to walk, so he'd have to tell someone. Instead she'd ignored the question and instead focused on the last of what he said.
She began to wrap the bandage around his ankle and spoke, "The dragon had been attacking for days, and water was running out." She told him, her eyes mostly on the ankle, before glancing up at him; "and so one I made a mistake. . . . I went out int he night to get water for the knights who needed it. I thought the dragon would be distracted by the knights, and I was safe . . . and I was for a few moments. But the dragon took notice." She paused there while wrapping up higher, letting the anticipation build for her story. "The dragon began circling over head, but I didn't know it."
She tied ff the bandage and looked up at him. "The dragon dropped from he sky, coming straight for me! I heard someone yelling my name, and I looked!" She used her hands to be slightly dramatic--the story wasn't one she enjoyed but she was trying to help him see his father as a hero and for that she would make it enjoyable! "I tired to run, but I could not out run a dragon! Then I felt this strong arm around me, throwing me to the ground! Saving my life by pushing me out of the way! However the dragon was right there, and his claw ripped though the chainmail and cut the knight . . . . " Her heart jerked, and she closed her eyes looking down, unable to make it sound excited any longer. Guinevère leaned in, "It was your father, the crown prince of Camelot, and he'd saved my life--a servant's. That is how he got the scar. So yes, he got it fighting the dragon, but it was much more then that."

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Galahad both watched and listened to her story, explaining how his father had saved her life. He grinned at the thought, knowing that his father saved many! And he wanted to be like that too one day. To fight evils and save people! . . . But mostly the fighting bit. "Was there a lot of blood?!" He asked excitedly, clearly priotizing the wrong thing in the story but he couldn't help it!
"Papa says that we serve the people too. Which also makes us servants to them." The thought was one Galahad had always found out. Considering what he heard others talk about. But apparently, Uncle Merlin was also considered a servant . . . yet, not at the same time. It was all very confusing! But all Galahad could do was repeat his father's words. "It wasn't very smart to run out at night," he told her bluntly. "Unless you can fight. Can you fight?!" And defend herself! But she said she ran from it so many not.
"I'm going to be a knight one day," he said proudly, raising his chin a little. "And fight off all the bad guys!" Everyone he had heard stories about. "And maybe, I'll get to fight a dragon one day too! Just like papa!" He looked at the cloth as it was tightly wrapped around his foot. "Uncle Merlin said that dragons aren't bad though." Something else that Galahad couldn't understand. "Even though it had hurt a lot of people." And nearly hurt her too apparently.

"Was there a lot of blood?!" Guinevère made a face of disgust, and mock outrage! "No, but it was poisoned, and your father could have died!" She told him, so he'd think about the important part! "Papa says that we serve the people too. Which also makes us servants to them." Her heart swelled with pride. Arthur was a good father. She could see it in this son of his, who was feisty, but a good boy. "He sounds like a very wise king."
It was then Galahad hit her with more questions then she could keep up with! "Unless you can fight. Can you fight?!" "I am the daughter of a blacksmith, with a very annoying older brother! I can fight some! But it was a DRAGON! I can't fight a dragon!" "I'm going to be a knight one day," "One of the best, I am sure if you are anything like your father!" "And fight off all the bad guys!" "I hope there wont be too many!" "And maybe, I'll get to fight a dragon one day too! Just like papa!" "That wasn't the point of my story," "Uncle Merlin said that dragons aren't bad though." "He would know, he is a dragonlord." "Even though it had hurt a lot of people." "Very, very many."
Guinevère watched him as he seemed to give her a moment to talk. "Do you train with your father?" She asked, knowing Arthur had been pushed to work very young at being the best. She glanced back at up at the books and then his foot. "Prince Galahad, if you promise me the vile did not have poison in it, I will not tell that I found you with it." She held out hand, "and if you give it to me so I know it's safely away from trouble." She hoped he trusted her enough to hand it over--or at least to not want her to tell.
She knew everyone would see he was injured as he walked out, so someone would find out. Besides, she might hint to Merlin that he should check on him.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Galahad listened to each of her responses to his questions and statements . . . but her latter question that he focused on answering. "Yes," he stated. He was starting to but his father wouldn't let him do as much as Galahad wished! "Alymere does more training. Papa said that I'll do more when I'm bigger." Which, Galahad did not want to wait for! He was better with his training than he was with books. Though, he did not envy his brother who had to do a great deal more studying than he did.
"Papa says I have a natural talent for it!" And that he would be a great knight one day but he had to learn about the other qualities first . . . blah blah blah. She then said that if he promised that the vile did not have any poison, then she wouldn't say that she found him with it. "I wouldn't poison anyone!" He stated, or assured. He wasn't entirely sure. He just immediately denied the thought of having done anything of the sort. He looked at her hand and then back at her face, then at her hand, and his answer came after. "No," he said defiantely.
"It's my vile." Which, was technically a lie. But she didn't need to know where he got it from. Using the edge of the shelf, he pulled himself to his feet. "I already gave you my word it's not poison. Now you should keep your word and not tell anyone." Whether she had the bottle or not. "Breaking a promise is a very, very bad thing to do!" He often had lessons on honesty and the importance of keeping to one's word. A man's worth was his word, his father would tell him. So Galahad took it quite seriously!

Guinevère knew she had not given her word that she wouldn't tell, she'd been careful about that. "My lord, you are injured, and you have a vile in your pocket. We both know you will find it hard to walk. If you fall you will break the vile and whatever you have . . . . borrowed . . . will be all over your side. You are very brave, I can tell because you showed no fear from your injures, and you are very strong, if you train with your father you must be . . . but I have a job to protect my king, and my prince."
Her hands rested on her hips. "I am willing to keep your secrets, but the vile stays with me." Prince or no, she had to put her foot down. Reaching her hand out once more she kept it very firmly waiting. She would check on him later too, to make sure he had made it to where he needs to go. "Please my lord," before she had to let him call her bluff. She didn't want to have to tell on him, she knew children had adventures; but he if refused then she'd have no choice.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Of course Galahad liked to hear that he was brave and strong . . . but he was also very strong willed. And stubborn. He'd heard comments about how he had gotten that from his father. He made a face at her, wrinkling his nose again as if he was displeased by her statement that the vile stays with her. He made no move to reach into his pocket to retrieve it. He hated that his foot was hurting! Because by now, he would have run out of here as fast as he could . . . and he was a fast runner!
"No," he said again stubbornly, showing no indication that he was going to change his mind, or that he was even open to it. "I already let you bandage my foot." As if that was a favour to her rather than him. "I'm not going to give you two things you want!" To bandage him and the vile. "And I'm a prince too you know," he said, assuming she was referring to his father and Alymere when she said king and prince. As if indicating he was ready to the end the convo, and wasn't going to give in, he started to limp away, hopping a little as he tried not to put pressure on his foot. He knew he couldn't outrun her . . . but he could try!

Guinevère closed her eyes. Apart of her wanted to be his friend and to keep his secret. "You are," she agreed when he said he was a prince too, "and you are just like your father when I knew him." She stood, while he hobbled away. In no hurry she picked up her dress, and then calmly walked around him. Pausing she looked down at him. "I am protecting you," Even thought it didn't feel that way. "From yourself, and from more injuries."
Turning she slowly walked out, in case he wanted to stop her. Turning the corner she walked toward the Council room. She paused outside the door and requested a word with the king. She gave her name, and said it was about the prince to Arthur would know she needed to speak with him. There she waited until she was shown in. Walking in she felt herself grow cold. Looking around she took in the room that she'd not been in for 20 years! Memories flooded her. Most of them about the wedding. Turning to look at Arthur she took a deep breath and tried to speak, "I . .. umm. . . .forgive me. I came to tell you that I was deliver a dress and I found your son injured int he library."

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT As soon as Arthur heard who was at the door, he immediately granted them entrance. His heart beat a little heavier in his chest but kept an entirely composed demeanour. He was after all, surrounded by the entire council. They didn't need to know of his history with Guinevère -- apart from those who already knew it. When she entered, he greeted her with her name, hoping that all was well but then . . . she said that his son was injured.
Arthur immediately rose to his feet, concern flooding him. It didn't even matter which son she was talking about. His heart now raced for an entirely different reason, and the council also froze in concern. "What happened?" Arthur asked as he crossed the room to stand before her. "Is he alright?" But as he asked the question, hoping she would walk alongside him, Arthur was already making his way to the library.

Guinevère blinks and followed him, once again heading back down the halls. She had thought he'd just go but he seemed to assume she'd go with him. She hadn't planned on facing the prince again so soon. "I am not sure, I think he fell? His foot was caught in the stool and I bandaged it for him but it was very purple. He seems to be able to stand, but I doubt Galahad could walk very far." She told him, following him with quick steps. "He also seemed to be hiding a vile in his pocket." She added on, not wanting that to go unnoticed.
Guinevère followed for a new more steps but then begin to slow her walk, so Arthur went again. She wanted to know the prince was alright but knew that from here he'd need to be a father. He was a good one, she knew that after speaking to his son. Yet between facing the young prince, and Arthur talking to him, and then being a father she slowed. "I will let you tend to him." She said as she let him walk away from her.
That happened a lot, she realized; Arthur was forever walking away from her and she was forever watching him do it. Sometimes physically, sometimes not.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur listened intently to every word, taking in whatever details she gave him. It was Galahad and . . . he was holding a vile. Arthur nearly stopped at that mention, knowing that whatever his son was doing . . . it was something mischievous. He knew him well enough to know that. But that was not his primary concern right now. He was more concerned with making sure his son was alright.
"Thank you, Guinevère," he told her gratefully, though noticed that she stopped walking and slowed his pace, turning to look at her. "You're not coming?" He asked, having assumed that she would. He wasn't even sure why he assumed that, he just had. The realization that she had met his son, and the magnitude of that had not even occurred yet. He was far more concerned with the boy's injury than anything, and . . . incredibly grateful that Guinevère had been there to help him. So he just waited, hoping he would not have to pause long and that Guinevère would rejoin his side.

Guninevere had assumed this would be a family moment, and she'd not be apart of that; and she wasn't sure she was ready to see him so imtimate with his family--yet when Arthur turned to look at her, and asked her if she was going with him . . . .
She found herself hurrying to catch up with him. She might not be ready, but she was about to see Arthur--the man she loved--be a father. Something she'd never in the past 20 years thought she'd see. She fell into step beside him as they hurried to the library, "He reminds me of you," she said quietly, "Stubborn." Her voice held some amusement.
Arthur had been liked that. Sort of. Stubborn, and with a lot of pride. Youth or the arrogance of being a prince she wondered. As she had no son, she wasn't sure how young boys really were. Yet she had faith that one say his son would be a good man--with Arthur as an example how could he not be?

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur nearly smiled, the concern hindering the action, when she spoke of how he was stubborn. "I feel like that is something I should apologize for," he told her, only half kidding. He knew his son could be challenging. In fact, he was rather surprised that she managed to get a bandage around his leg. Once they reached the hall that led to the library, he could see his son limping, one hand on the wall to help brace himself. "Galahad," Arthur said rushing towards him, and immediately kneeling before him.
"What happened?" He asked concerned. Galahad glanced at Guinevère, before looking back at his father. "I fell off the stool! But I'm okay. My foot is just purple." Arthur looked down at his leg, not wanting to remove the bandage yet. "Come. Let's go to the physician and get it checked." He lifted Galahad up in his arms so that he wouldn't have to strain it further. "And what of this vile?" This time, Galahad's eyes went to Guinevère, clearly displeased. He didn't say anything. "Galahad," Arthur said, an underlying tone of sternness. A tone that he knew his son would recognize.
"But I--" "Hand it over," Arthr said, holding out his hand expectantly. Galahad let out an annoyed sigh and reached into his pocket, putting the vile in his father's hand. He then wrapped an arm around his father's neck, still looking at Guinevère. "You lied!" "Galahad," Arthur said more sternly before. He turned to look at Guinevère, before looking back at his son. "She helped you, and helped you even more by telling me." Galahad continued to make a face.
"Did you say thank you to Guinevère?" Galahad stayed quiet. Arthur just let out a sigh, turning around to properly face Gwen. "I'm sorry," he apologized. "He's just . . . " Arthur paused for a moment before continuing. "Stubborn." "Well people say I get that from you," Galahad quipped. Arthur knew he was going to have to have a chat with his son about all this, and properly thank as well as apologize to Gwen.

Guinevère watched them together, and tried to imagine what her life would be like had she married Arthur. Would this son be her's? Would he still be this stubborn child? Would she had been better at handling it? He lifted the boy into his arms, and she stared, letting herself just be an observer. Even when Galahad told her she lied--she stayed there quietly, watching them together.
After days of thinking about Arthur with Lunete, this would only add to her brain's turmoil. She'd seen him as a father now. Seen what his life was like without her. "Stubborn." "Well people say I get that from you," Guinevère smiled, and the teasing came easy. She did like his son, even if it was hard knowing that her heart was breaking all over again. "I just said the same thing to him, my prince." she told Galahad, watching Arthur carry him out of the room. "And I happen to know, Merlin would agree with me." She was encouraging it, and she shouldn't but she couldn't help but to tease Arthur and his son in the same moment.
