OF CAMELOT
Arthur knew that this was not going to be easy. Merlin had been waiting for him at the lake. Arthur had already reunited with Guinevère. And now, came the next most important people in his life: the knights of Camelot. While they were all brothers of arms, he wished to start with those he was closest to. He owed them at least that much. And, he needed to go to them privately, before his return spread through the kingdom. Thus far, he managed to evade detection. His knowledge of the castle he'd live the entirety of his life in helped him to sneak through the halls and corridors, using specific entrances and exits. Mainly, the servant's quarters.
Merlin and Guinevère had briefly caught him up on the state of the kingdom. Or well, kingdoms. There was a war coming: one that no one has seen the likes of. Kingdom's and their allies were rallying together, their enemies preparing against them. Camelot was fortunate to have strong allies but . . . Arthur knew he needed to do more. He needed to create allies within the kingdom. And that started with lifting the ban of magic. But, all this was secondary. First, he wished to reunite with his family. And right now, that someone was Elyan. Waiting for the guards to reach the end of the hall, Arthur quickly made his way, concealed with his cloak and hood, bearing no crest or bright red Pendragon red. No. He needed to be discreet.
He knocked at Elyan's quarters in the castle, hearing the approaching footsteps. Once the door opened, Arthur quickly stepped inside without invitation, moving quick enough for Elyan not to see who it was. Deeper in the room, Arthur turned to face Elyan, and pulled down his hood. "Don't be alarmed," he told him, knowing that a stranger entering a room could easily be a threat. But right now, he hoped his brother of heart, would give him a chance to explain. It had after all . . . been five years since Arthur's death and while the king had no memory of the passage of time, the same could not be said of everyone else.
