for the love
OF CAMELOT
Arthur paused outside of Elyan's quarters, a tray of food in one hand and his other clenched in a fist, in preparation to knock. And yet, he paused. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, knowing that things could have gone so much worse. But . . . they had gone bad enough. This was the second time that Guinevère and Elyan had been endangered because of him. And fortunately, like last time, they had both come out alive. Still. It did not lessen the fact that they were harmed, because of their ties to him. He was only too relieved when Gaius told him that Elyan's wounds were not mortal. That it would take him time, but he would recover.
Taking a slow breath, he opened his eyes and knocked on the door, before stepping inside. They had only been back a short while, time that Arthur took to change in more casual attire, quickly meet with the council to be updated and . . . for Gaius to tend to Elyan. Now, he saw Guinevère sitting at her brother's bedside, seeing that Elyan was awake; conscious. He gave a small smile, words not even beginning to express his relief upon seeing them both returned.
He had been terrified of losing Guinevère, and then Elyan had been struck . . . he would just have to take solace in the fact that they were both alive. "I wasn't sure if either of you have eaten," he added on, approaching his wife and brother as he set the tray of food on the bedside table. "How are you feeling?" Arthur asked, placing his hand on Guinevère's shoulder as he stood next to where she sat on the side of the bed.
