Guinevère always worried for her boys at these things. How man enjoyed things like a joust or melee she would never understand. Yet she worried for each of them, every time. Gwaine was good with a sword but liked to show off; what if someone used that? Elyan was BRILLIANT but he was her brother and so she held her breath when he fount, before smiling and clapping as if she never doubted him. Percival was strong, and she feared someone smaller and faster could get past his strong arms. Leon had trained since childhood, and skill was known; yet that didn't mean others played by the rules.
And then, there was her husband. The man who had found in every joust, and in ever melee since he was old enough to do so. He won most of them, in fact she couldn't recall one he hadn't. Yet there always seemed be someone trying to use the chaos of the kingdom to get close to him without others knowing, and kill him. He's jousted an assassin. He'd fought assassins. Even on his birthday there was one! They always came. They always hated his goodness, or who he used to be, or his father, or worked for Morgana, or wanted power.
While she worried over all her boy, it was her husband she worried for the most. She'd even sought out Merlin this morning, knowing that somehow he always knew. Almost always. Yet today Merlin seemed at ease, so Guinevère was as well. Not that her worry was evident. She was calm, and happy on the outside! Her fear would only be seen when her hand held her arm rest of her seat too tightly. "You do realize, that every time you fight or joust in something like this, there is always an assassin?" She reminded him, as he dressed for the day. She was still in her night gown, but would dress after he left. Right now, she wanted to make sure he was being safe. She had no desire to be a lonely Queen.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT The occasion upon them was a grand one. Camelot along with a few other kingdoms had just finalized a massive peace treaty, and there was indeed cause for celebration. An invitation was extended to all allies, to come to Camelot and participate in the festivities. A melee was being held in honor of it, yet there were those who came simply as a show of support to Camelot, and it meant a great deal to Arthur. For this would be the first grand occasion since his kingship . . . since getting married to his queen. It would be a chance for everyone to see Guinevère upon the throne, to see Camelot in its prosperity. And a chance for Arthur and her to get to know their allies. He knew the pressures of it -- especially upon his wife of now 2 years -- yet Arthur had nothing but faith in her. Their allies were strong, good people and he hoped that everything would happen without incident.
Which, was what the current topic was as he and Guinevère spoke of Arthur's participation in the melee. "That's only happened once," he told her, taking out his shirt as he paused for a moment in thought. "Alright, twice." Valiant, and Myror. He began to pull the shirt over his head as he kept thinking about his, and ones his arms were through the sleeves, continued. "Perhaps three." There had been those two goons from the tavern. He knew that by this, he was only proving Guinevère's point. "Anyway, it doesn't matter," he quickly dismissed, clearly unconcerned with the numerous threats that had befallen him in the past. "I'm still alive am I not?" He asked with a smile, holding out his arms before adjusting his shirt so that it wasn't lopsided. "You have nothing to fear Guinevère," he told her confidently. Perhaps a little too confidently.

"That's only happened once," Once! She raised her eye brows at him, knowing he was dressing but still sending him a silent look. "Alright, twice." Guinevère tilted her head to the side as if silently reminding him of another. "Perhaps three." Shifting she tilted her head the other way, thinking of another in her mental list. "Anyway, it doesn't matter," She huffed out a playful but fed up sound as she walked over to pick something from her dressing mirror and begin to talk toward him.
"I'm still alive am I not?" THAT wasn't--"You have nothing to fear Guinevère," She folded her arms as she came to rest before him. "Nothing?" She questioned, knowing that she had much to fear. "I will be the judge of that."
Reaching for his hand she wrapped a small cloth around his wrist, this one white like her gown. Infact it was made from the same material as her night gown. Something no one would know but him as he wore the favor. "I don't breathe when you fight. I forget to breathe until it's over. It matters not if you fight a squire, or Percvial, or an assassin." She lifted the same hand she tied the favor to and kissed his palm. "For your victory!" She teased, but meant the words too! Winning meant a lot to him, so it had come to mean something to her as well.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur watched her as she reached for his hand, wrapping a cloth around it. Arthur looked at it carefully, a smile immediately spreading on his lips as he recognized the fabric. He had taken it off her enough times to know what it gown it belonged to. In fact, it was the very one she wore now. After placing a kiss on his hand, he moved his palm to her cheek, gently resting it there to address her vocalized fears. Truth was, he never wanted to make her worry, and hated that he did. Hated that she felt so nervous in watching him. But, he supposed that was what came with loving someone so deeply. The concern and fear you felt over them.
"Don't worry," he assured her softly. "The weapons will be dulled and after what happened at that one melee, I'm sure Merlin will be diligent in ensuring they remain so." Surely, no magic would be used. Though even Arthur knew that this was a good opportunity to strike at any given kingdom. He only hoped that the threat of Morgana would not be upon them, after a peaceful era of two years now. In all other melee's and tournaments, Arthur had done them to prove himself, to make his father proud. And while the former was still the case, the latter was not.
He knew that if he wished to make Guinevère proud, this was not the most relevant way. "So breathe easy," he told her softly, leaning forward to kiss her forehead in a tender embrace. "Knowing that all will be safe and that you will not see me injured so easily." Or dead. But he didn't exactly want to speak of such morbidity now. He held up the favor now tied around his wrist and smiled. "Is this a promise of what awaits if I am victorious?" He asked with clear flirtation in attempt to ease her mind by lightening the mood.

His hand touched her cheek and she leaned slightly into it, loving his touch. unable to resit, she teased him. "So you plan to dull Excalibur, or fight without it?" She asked, smiling sweetly up at him knowing that he would understand she was only joking. She would not really let harm come to his sword. It was a symbol for so much! To both him and the people.
"Is this a promise of what awaits if I am victorious?" Almost. "It is a promise of what does not await you if you are victorious." She teased, meaning that if he won, then she would not have her night gown on tonight. Not that she would have it on either way, but she planned on him winning. It always made for him in a better mood. "And, as you joust and wear it, knowing that everyone can see it, only you and I know you will know what it really is." A personal thing between them.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur's smile faded when she brought up Excalibur, asking him if he was going to dull it or not use it. "It pains me to say . . . " He began, such pain evident on his face. He reached over to where it say on the table, holding it in his hand as he eyed it longingly. "That I will have to fight without it." Even since pulling the sword he fought with it. It accompanied him on journeys, battles, and any other excursion where there was the risk of combat. Letting out a heavy breath he set the sword down, trying not to dwell on its absence during the melee, and Guinevère's next words certainly helped in distracting him as he stepped back towards her, speaking of promises about tonight.
"I quite like the sound of that," he said, wrapping both his arms around her as he held her close, smiling down at her. "A token of our love," he said in explanation. "One worn for luck, and good fortune," he continued, a smile still on his lips. "I still remember so clearly the day you gave me your favour for the first time." An incredibly fond memory, for it was the first of something else. A playful look of forgetfulness formed on Arthur's face. "How did I thank you for it?" He ask teasingly, fully recalling what happened yet and that it didn't so much have to do with gratitude, than it did with the affections he felt for her. Ones too strong to deny in that moment.

How did it end? As if she could ever forget! Yet even still, she pretended to think over it, tilting her head slightly one way as if trying hard. "If memory serves me, I believe it ended with and assassin jousting against you." She teased, bringing their conversation back to where it had been; only to turn it back once more. "But before then, I think you did something that changed my life forever." And with that she pushed to her toes of her bare feet and kissed him. Her arms sliding up and around his neck.
Unlike that first kiss, this one held more! She kissed him like a wife. Pulling back she smiled as she lowered to her toes. "Though had you kissed me like that years ago, I might have fainted." She teased, knowing that ever since their wedding their kisses were more passionate, more teasing, more . . . . knowing. Because they were husband and wife now! Because they were married, and she knew him so much better now.

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur made a feigned face of surprise though it eased when she ended the tease, reaching up to kiss him. At which point, he closed his eyes, basking in the warmth that her lips always gave him. A passionate kiss, and an action he would never tire from. Yes. How far they had come from that first kiss, holding that dangerous hope . . . to now. Where they were together. Married. Happy.
His hands slid up her back, lips remaining close even as she eased out of the kiss, speaking of how she would have fainted if he kissed her like this all those years ago. "I might have too," he said jokingly. "I barley had the courage to kiss you the first time." But he had -- as he often did -- acted on his heart rather than his head. "But I knew . . . that I would forever regret it if I did not kiss you in that moment, where we were just Arthur and Guinevère." Not a king and a servant. But simply, two people, oddly enough temporarily residing with each other. "As we are now," he said, leaning in for another kiss. For they would always be, just Arthur and Guinevère. Husband and wife first; a king and queen second.

She loved being able to tease her husband! It was part of what made their loves together so wonderful! Teasing him, loving him, being there for him! For the good, and the hard! He admitted he would have too, and she asked him about it. "You were afraid?" Knowing the bold prince, she was surprised to find that he had almost not had the courage! "I stood there forever staring at the door after you walked out! I knew this changed everything. I wanted it too, but didn't want at the same time." Since then, she hadn't believed this would be possible.
"As we are now." She agreed, repeating his words with a soft smile. She stared up at him for a long moment, silently basking in the love between them. "I could not be happier then I am each day with you." She always made sure to tell him that. Knowing that she'd given him reason to doubt before. "I am so in love with you!"

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Arthur smiled when she questioned his words, confirming that he had been afraid. "I was." Arthur didn't admit fear, knowing that it was not the way his father had raised him. To admit fear, could be admitting weakness. Though, there were very rare occasions, with very select few that he expressed as such. Those he could he could be vulnerable and unafraid to show his emotions to. Guinevère was at the top of that list. "I was afraid because, I never felt that way for anyone." He wouldn't have kissed her if it was merely lust and a fleeting feeling.
No. It had been soul deep and impossible to ignore. "And I knew that my father would never have approved." He continued to smile, knowing that his father never had and Guinevère had nearly died because of it. "To have those feelings, and that hope . . . terrified me." And to give that hope to her in kissing her which, he supposed he had in a way. And despite what he told her about his father never understanding, he could not stop fighting for her. For them. "I know the feeling," he said softly. Wanting it yet not wanting it because . . . it had seemed so impossible at the time.
"Yet, you never lost faith." Never truly. Otherwise, they would not be together and her faith in him, meant everything to Arthur. His smile grew upon hearing her happiness, saying how in love she was with him. "And I love you, Guinevère. With all my heart." His heart, his soul, every fiber of his being. He leaned forward to kiss her again, breathing into the embrace before drawing from the contact of their lips. "The most difficult part of this melee, will be being away from your side." And with all their visiting guests, he knew they were both going to be very busy.

"I was so caught up int he kiss, that I did not think of your father until later." She told him, knowing that at the time she had just been standing there staring at the door. When her mind did think of Uther, it had been while thinking of how impossible this would be. "Watching you joust that day, after you kissed me . . . . I feared you'd kissed me goodbye. I had seen you joust many times, but never had I . . . cared so much for the outcome." Because she realized she cared for him.
"My bed smelled of you for days after you left. . . . I loved it." It hadn't been a bad smell, but his smell! She was only telling him this because he was her husband now. "The most difficult part will be paying attention to what you are doing, so you can return to my side!" She teased, correcting his words. "I will be watching to make sure you are safe. Do not look at me! Sometimes you do that and I fear you are distracted and will loose a limb!" She was teasing, for she knew of his skill! Yet she did worry! What if he didn't pay enough attention?

Tag: Guinevère Note: Better layout coming soon! for the love OF CAMELOT Neither had he. At least not when he was kissing her. But the awareness of the situation, and the complications it would pose had quickly been on his mind when he pulled away and walked out the door. Still. He was forever glad that he had done it. For who knows when an opportunity like that would have arisen again. He lightly smiled when she told him of watching him joust; the fear of him having kissed her goodbye. "I'm honoured that you felt as such," he told her. "It's just a shame that that match, out of them all, was one where you held so much concern." Because his opponent had been an assassin trying to kill him, rather than a knight.
It was indeed a far more complicated match than any regular jousting one. His smile grew, a flicker of amusement in his gaze when she told him of how her bed smelled . . . of how she liked it. "Hopefully it was a good smell," he said teasingly. "For it was the first time I learned that not everyone had a bathtub." He still recalled his shock, but at least now they could look back on the memory with fondness. With laughter. For it -- unlike some others -- was not a painful one to think on. He chuckled when she told him of paying attention, and not to look at her.
"I can't help it," he said in playful defeat. "Whenever you are near, my gaze is just naturally drawn to you." Even now, after they were married. If she was there, he could not help but look at her. "Every tournament I fought in since kissing you that day, my eyes searched for you in the crowd." Another admittance. "No matter how much I tried not to." And it was not due to not wanting to be focused, but it had to do more with not wanting to draw attention to them, and reveal his feelings for her.
It was easier when she stood in the stand with his father and . . . Morgana. He had more of an excuse to keep looking that way. He knew the only exception was when he had been enchanted to fall in love with Vivian -- THAT had been distracting. But even when Guinevère broke the spell, the person he looked for in the crowd after sparing Olaf's life, was Guinevère. "Knowing you're, gave me strength," he added, leaning in to place another light kiss upon her lips.

"Hopefully it was a good smell," Guinevère laughed, "Yes," it had made sleep impossible for that night, but she'd liked it. "And after you'd left, I missed the company. My house seemed lonelier then before." Something that was easy to talk about now that he was her husband, and she wasn't lonely any more. She was loved, and spent almost every night in his arms! Guinevère knew that sometimes he had to leave to do things in the kingdom, but that he would return to her and she'd was once again in his arms!
"Then know that I will always be there watching you," She told him, knowing that she wanted to see him end safely every time! She liked that he looked for her before and after the fight. Making sure she was there! Before when their eye held, she ha felt her heart jump; knowing that he was thinking of her. Now she smiled when he did, knowing he was still--even years later--thinking of her! It was better each time he did. Because this love wasn't fading, it was growing!
