The colors, the music. OH! It was just like being back at the gypsy camp...but on a much bigger scale. It was King Uther's birthday today and the young gypsy girl was to preform for the Court, along with many other entertainers. As Marianne trotted into the front court, Evelyn let her eyes wander around. She had been to many castles before and even recognized some of the performers setting up, going in, or just chatting away. Butterflies danced in her stomach, for never had she preformed for such a large crowd. She took a deep breath, nudging Marianne to a halt. Surprisingly, a knight came to her, dressed in the red and gold finery of Camelot and with gentle hands, helped her down. She hardly had time to thank him before he was off to help another and a stable boy led her mount away. Nothing ever seems to stop for a moment here...
She smoothed out her attire, the bright colors blending in well with the decorations. A multicolored strip of fabric came around her back, crossed over her chest to hide her breasts, and finally tied at the back of her neck like a halter top with the ends flowing down to her lower back. Her toned stomach was revealed to all as well as part of the valley between her breasts. Her lower half was covered by a skirt of deep red with about three layers in all. Each layer had a large slit up each side, reaching her mid-thigh. Her feet were bare covered only by cloth shoes with a hard leather sole, something she was thankful for on the hard, rocky ground. Around her wrists and ankles were bracelets of silver and gold, gifts from her audiences and mother. Her hair was half up in a styled bun, the rest of her brown curls falling widely over her back. Also tied around her waist was a large, sheer red scarf that she detached and danced with.
She stood there, really quite unsure where she was to head and when she was to preform. Others were milling around in the courtyard or going into the castle, so that provided really no answers. This is why I enjoy private shows...You're escorted there and when you're done and paid, you leave. Simple and quick. With a shake of her head, she opted to go into the castle. If she wasn't supposed to be there, well, she would leave and wait.

Today was a very chaotic day! There had been so much planning required, so many events, and so many guests who were coming to join the festivities. Royalty from different kingdoms, nobility, performers . . . it was a very busy day indeed! And yet, Arthur did not mind. In fact, he was enjoying it because it was for a more joyous occasion. There was always some trouble in Camelot, some dark magic destroying the land and people . . . but tonight, would be filled with music, feasts and friends. It was his father's birthday and he wanted to make sure that everything was perfect for the King of Camelot.
A knight had told him that one of the performers had arrived, and so he motioned for someone to take his position of checking on the food. They still had some time before everything officially started, so Arthur did not want to waste a moment. When he stepped into the courtyard, he saw a young woman standing there, obviously waiting for some further direction. "Welcome to Camelot," he greeted as he approached. The way she was dressed made it clear to him which particular performer she was. "You must be Miss Evelyn Callaway," he added, hoping he was not mistaken. He had heard from a few nobleman that she was a wonderful dancer, and that was why he had personally invited her to perform at the party tonight.

A voice sounding behind her caused the young woman to turn. She was met with the sight of a young man, one who seemed to be around her age actually. He had blond hair that shined gold in the sunlight and very blue eyes. He was a bit taller than her, causing Evelyn to tilt her head up slightly in order to look him in the eye. He was quite muscular and quite handsome. Evelyn smiled, nodding.
"Yes. And you must be Arthur Pendragon, I presume?" she asked. She inclined her head in a nod of respect, keeping her eyes focused on him. Yes, he certainly must be the young prince that she has heard so much about. The handsome boy that charmed anyone he met. She could see why. Besides having the looks and charm of a prince, he also seemed to have to carry the grace and power of a knight. A deadly combination for woman everywhere.
"I am honored to be personally invited to preform at your father's birthday. i have heard he is a great man." Great, stubborn, and widely disliked by people like me. Despite her thoughts, she kept her usual, coy smile on her lips, remaining ever polite and courteous on the outside. Her deep brown eyes swept over the courtyard, enchanted by the feeling of festivity in the air. It seemed that the people of Camelot were quite loyal to their king and she could see why. She's heard stories and tales about Uther and Arthur many of time. Some good, some bad. Though, if the stories were true, both were great rulers.

"I am," he confirmed politely. Her beauty was captivating, which was what he assumed was one of the reasons she was so popular. She seemed to be able to grasp a man's attention rather quickly. Had the timing been better, he would have perhaps flattered her a little. But he refrained. Instead, he smiled at her, a more relaxed smile despite the to do list that was constantly changing in his mind, as he was hiding this stress and pressure to make everything perfect tonight. She should not have to see that frazzled side of him. So he held his composure, as any Prince was expected to do. "It is a great pleasure to have you perform for us. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about you."
He called for the attention for a few servants running around and told them to take her things to her room, and groom and tend to her horse. "Allow me to escort you to the guest chambers. The festivities do not begin for another few hours, so I hope that is enough time for you to rest and prepare. If you require anything, then please do not hesitate to let me, or any of the servants know. They will be available at all times." He began to lead her inside the castle.

"I hope you have heard nothing but wonderful things about me," she said with a small laugh and an easy smile. She watched the servants take away her one small bag and her horse. The butterflies danced in her stomach as she followed him, getting the pre-show jitters as usually. Evelyn had danced at plenty of events like this one, but never alone until now. She kept her head up high as she walked along beside Arthur, her eyes roaming over the palace.
"You home is quite beautiful," she said, referring to both the castle and Camelot itself. She looked out toward the village, seeing decorations and music coming from it in honor of the king's birthday. The citizens were loyal to their king and prince, something that was getting harder and harder to come by. The village itself was simple, but it was in that simplistic quality that the village was beautiful. The people she had met on her way in were joyful and friendly. She turned her gaze back to the Prince.
“Thank you for taking the time to show me around, I know you must be very busy with your party,” she said quietly as they walked. She brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, giving him a smile. She had never really been impressed with the Princes she knew. They were always too proud, too arrogant, too annoying to ever take seriously. Arthur though…Arthur seemed a bit different than the others. He seemed noble and proud of his land. It was a refreshing change.

Arthur smiled, looking ahead while he walked alongside her. "You have quite the reputation as being a wonderful performer so we are all excited to see you tonight." He did not say it to possibly add any potential pressure she was feeling. "Thank you," he replied when she contemplated his home. He was rather proud of it, despite all the work that it needed . . . since nothing was at all perfect. "Is this your first time visiting Camelot?" he asked, trying to get to know her a little more since she had after all traveled all the way to perform, and he appreciated that effort on her part.
"You're welcome. You are our guest, coming to our home for the first time, so I want you to feel comfortable. This is all part of the organization required of the function tonight." He truly hoped it was to his father's liking. He had the cooks prepare all his favorite food, and ensured that his good friends and other noble -- and even royal -- families were present to share this cause of celebration.

She nodded and replied, "Yes, it is. I have heard many stories of Camelot and the great Pendragons, but this is the first time I have seen it myself. I’m glad that I am able to see it for myself finally.”
She smiled, listening to him. He seemed very happy about tonight and also slightly nervous. She wouldn’t be surprised though. It must be quite a challenge to plan a party, especially the King who happens to be your father! Evelyn couldn’t imagine how hard it would be. Then again, she never had to plan a birthday before. They just happened in her camp. Everyone just remembered the birthdays and a party was given, each one just like the last. She looked over to Arthur, his strong profile a bright contrast to the grey walls. It must be a lot of work for him, but it must also be nice.
“Your father is lucky to have a son like you. Most Princes I have met are lazy. They would just hand over the plans to a servant and then take the credit. I am glad a kingdom like Camelot has a Prince like you,” she said with a smile and a small nod of her head. She looked forward once more, eager to drink in the rich beauty of the castle with her eyes.

Arthur wished he could easily accept her flattering words, but he always had very deep rooted insecurities about his father. He did, and forever would, feel like a grand disappointment to him, even if no one else believed this or saw it. He would often over compensate by acting over confident . . . but deep down, he was unsure of himself, and he was always in doubt of whether his father was truly proud of him. Of course, he was not about to reveal this, to anyone really. "I'm glad you were able to come then. I hope it will be fully worth your visit." Arthur was proud of the kingdom; he was proud of the way it was, his people, everything about it. Of course, like everywhere, there were flaws and things he wishes he could change . . . but overall, he had no problem complimenting Camelot, even if he was bias towards it.
"Thank you; you honor me too much though with your words. I could not have done this by myself, and it certainly would have not been anything special had we not been able to get others to come and perform, such as yourself." Her words did give him hope that he was a good prince though, especially since they had just only met. "So you've encountered quite a few royal families then, how far have your skills taken you?" He asked, wondering how many places she had been, and how many kingdoms she had performed in.
