Nora could not help the sobs that kept cursing through her as she walked down the hallway. She knew that she should be more composed since it was not like her father's death was out of no where, but she could not help it. She felt so alone in the world with no family left. Well, apart from some cousins (one in particular that she did not want to mention for she knew he had done something to cause her father's deterioration) and extended family and a few friends (like Caitrin). Other than that she felt like she had no one.
Tomorrow was to be her father's memorial and King Arthur and his wife Queen Guinevère (or Gwen as she prefered to be called) had been very kind and compassionate when she arrived. They even made her promise that if she needed anything that all she had to do was ask. But Nora felt like she would be a burden if she did so, so she remained quiet and tried her best to be as composed as possible.
She was about to make a turn, when she felt some tears escape which she wiped with her sleave. It was at this point that she missed seeing that someone was coming towards her. Not until she walked straight in to them. It turned out that it was Arthur's man servant, Merlin.
"Oh my god. I'm so sorry Merlin." Nora quickly apologized feeling very bad at bumping him to him especially as he was carrying Arthur's laundry. For some reason none of the sheets fell to the floor which Nora thought was odd but did not think much about it.

Elyan smiled warmly at Nora as she tried to comfort him about his sister. "Thank you," he said to her sincerely and Nora smiled. "I guess I should just be patient then?" He asked and Nora was going to answer him, until he went on. "It was never a strong point of mine," he added, chuckling and Nora giggled too. She decided to let him speak some more till he felt comfortable and give advice accordingly.
That didn't turn out to be too long as he asked her, "I'm just not sure what to say to her sometimes, should I broach the subject or wait for her to?" "Um" Nora though for a few seconds before she continued, "It is a difficult to know what to do and say in these situations. It depends on your sister and her temperament. You could wait a little till she broaches it, and if not, give her time and maybe bring it up gently." Nora sighed a little as family issues are always difficult to handle. Especially issues like Elyan and his sister had. There was never one course of action. Sometimes it needed a few solutions to fix it and even then it might still never be as it was before. For you can ever have what you had in the past, but something different. Something better and Nora hoped that this would be the case with Elyan and his sister.
"Do you have a sister?" Elayn asked her and Nora laughed, "Yes I do indeed. Her name is Anne and she is 5 years younger than me. But our mother died not long after she was born, so I pretty much raised her with the help of father and the maids and nurses. It was hard raising her for she very much has boisterous personality, meaning she was always getting into many scrapes." Nora stopped as she realized that talking about it was getting her a little upset. They rarely talked about the effect her mother's death had on the family. They instead focused on the positives.

Nora took another sharp in-take of breath when Aryenne spoke again. But instead occupied herself with helping the servant collect the rest of the mess. He looked terrified and embarrassed and Nora knew that the Lady's comments were not helping matters, which made Nora more willing to help the poor boy for he did not look very old. She then heard the lady address her with, "I'ts not your job to do that," before asking her, "Or would you rather be in his class?"
"No, it is not my job. But that doesn't mean that I should be so uncaring and unkind." And with that she picked up the remaining goblet before raising to her feet and asking the servant what she should do with the goblets. The servant nervously muttered about him taking care of it, before taking all of the goblets from her hands and mumbling his thanks. Nora nodded her head and told him, "It was no problem." Before she said a little louder, "I, unlike others, are not unkind or insensitive." Nora knew she probably should have kept her mouth shut, but the nerve of this noble woman. There was one thing that Nora hated above anything else, and that was people who were noble acted like they were spoiled instead of with the nobility and humility their status required of them.
Obviously, this lady's parents did not instill the same principles in their daughter that her father instilled in her.

Nora nodded and agreed when the Princess commented on how happy it was to see the King happy once again. But that slowly turned to nervousness when Xenia told her that she wanted her to meet her parents. Of course, Nora should not feel this way, being a noble and all, but still she felt anxious. Which was only natural, after all, Nora thought.
She followed Xenia over towards her parents and curtsied lowly when she introduced who she was. She gave them a very polite and friendly nod of her head, before she greeted them, "Your majesties! It is a pleasure to meet you. Are you having a good evening?" She asked good-naturally, hoping that they were indeed having a good time at the Prince's Birthday.

“He is, or more he’s become more curious and adventurous,” Caitrin told her and Nora giggled and wondered how much that would increase when he starts to crawl. She remembers how her sister use to get into a muck when she started to crawl and was constantly getting into trouble for it. Though, Nora actually found it adorable, which she never commented out loud for their nurse would have told her off too. “But he’s always been interested in things that were going on around him.”
"Yes. I noticed that as soon as I saw him the other day. It's interesting how different Arthur and Esame are in terms of temperament and personality." Isolde was very observant when it came to people and children around her.
Nora was very happy when Caitrin said that they could stay for some tea. She then asked if Nora would like to carry him downstairs. Nora nodded her head eagerly before picking him up gently and placing him on her hip. She then stood up and said, "I would love to." Nora was just going to ask where they should take their tea, when Caitrin did it for her.
"Well, it is a beautiful day so why don't we have tea outside. Also it would do Arthur some good to be out in the sun I think." Nora hoped she was not being to presumptuous in regards with whether he wanted to be outside. She just knew that with her sister and other children she spend time with, they loved spending a bit of time outside amongst nature.

“I’m glad he is in a greater comfort now.” Caitrin finally said to her while she stood up next to her father and wiped her hands on a cloth she had brought with her. Nora nodded her head in thanks, before returning her attentions to the little boy in her arms.
“If you need me at all then just send a messenger, and I will come as soon as I am able.” Caitrin assured her and Nora was indeed grateful for it. "I will." She simply told her and then looked down just as little Arthur decided that her necklace was indeed very interesting and tried his best to make a grab for it. Nora laughed at the little babe, "What have you found, little one eh?" She asked him with a huge grin on her face, before she took it off and held it out in her hand for the baby to look at.
“He’s just started getting a little more adventurous, but I like it. He’s showing us a bit more of his personality every day." She heard Caitrin tell her, before she looked up and saw that Caitrin was finally done with her tasks and was leaning up against the bedside table, grinning down at them. "Well I can definitely see that. He's a very curious baby isn't he?" Nora smiled and then realized that now would probably be the best time for them to leave her father to rest.
"Would you like to come downstairs and have some refreshments before you leave?" Nora offered kindly, hoping that Caitrin and Arthur would stay a little longer. Though she would understand if they could not as they had family back at home that might need attending to.

Nora watched Elyan's face as she talked about his sister and she knew that her words were having a positive affect on him and she was glad. He smiled at her as she described Gwen and agreed, "She always has and I'm very glad of it." Nora smiled back at him and nodded her head, "I imagine that she was always like that. Grateful with anything and that is a truly commendable trait."
She could tell that he had been caught a little off guard with her question and Nora began to feel very guilty for asking such a personal question of him. Since he had only just met her. But she was quickly reassured when he told her it was fine for her to ask such a question. "Umm, it's a little strained now but I think it'll get better." He paused for a moment. "I hope it'll get better. Quite frankly I'm not quite sure."
Nora heard the sadness in his voice and could understand why his relationship with his sister would be strained. Nora touched his arm gently, "Well give it some time. I'm sure that while your sister may still be angry with you, it will settle. For a sister's love holds steady and fast even when it does not seem that way. Believe me I know this very well." Nora tried to reassure him, for she only knew too well what it was like having a sibling. Though, they never had the issues like Elyan and Gwen, she did have her moments with her sister when she was so stubborn and Nora thought that they would never speak to each other again. But eventually they did and put water under the bridge, for nothing was worth losing her sister over.

Nora listened very intrigued as Xenia went on to explain her father's great love of wine and how they imported their wine from Camelot as the wines in their kingdom were not as fine. Nora nodded her head, "Well I'm glad that your father manages to be able to still enjoy the fine wines Camelot as to offer."
Xenia smiled at her and Nora was glad that she agreed to call her 'Nora' for she preferred that nickname over her proper name. Somehow, 'Nora' sounded more warmer and suited her personality better than 'Elenora'. Though her father liked calling her her real name and was the only one (after her mother of course. Until she died that is) who did so.
The Princess then looked like she was deep in thought and Nora wondered what she was thinking about. But she didn't have to wait long for Xenia then asked her gently, her eyes filled with concern, "Nora, How is King Uther? I have heard the latest news about Lady Morgana. Is he fine now?"
This was a difficult question to answer as the Prince did not like to talk much about his father's condition -- understandably so. Only to update the council and kingdom that his father was slowly making some progress. "Well that is a difficult question to answer as we do not get informed much on his condition. But he seems to be making some progress for it has been a while since he attended any balls or ceremonies. And I'm glad for it as it has been very hard for Prince Arthur and its great to see the King out tonight to celebrate his son's birthday." And with that Nora quickly glanced at the banquet table and saw father and son talking with each other animatedly and it gladdened her heart to see such a sight.

Today I want to compliment the lovely knight, Elyan! I'm just having so much fun threading with you in Forging Of A Friendship. The way you just portray Elyan with such gentleness and yet you can see how restless he was which resulted with him leaving Camelot so well! Pretty much you bring a depth to him that the show failed to do. And this makes me so happy !

“I don’t know what I’d do without him most of the time.” She agreed lightly and Nora noticed how Caitrin started to concentrate on her stomach. The babies were most likely kicking as she appeared she was at that stage of her pregnancy where she could feel the babies kicking. "You're lucky then to have someone you can depend upon." Nora told her lightly. Nora then felt curious to ask her another question, "Do you and your husband know what you are having? Or are you keeping it as a surprise?"
Nora knew that it was a common thing nowadays for expecting parents to find out the gender of what they were having before they were born and Nora could see the benefits of it. For one thing it made it easier when they needed to set up the nursery and such. But Nora, personally was more traditional in her opinions on it. If she ever had the good fortune to meet someone and settle down, she would most definitely prefer to wait until the baby was born to find out if it was a boy or girl. She liked the idea of guessing and coming up with names for both genders before meeting them.
Caitrin just smiled at Nora again when she talked about her keen interest in children. And Nora smiled back at her before she waited for Caitrin's response to the fact that they both attended the same university. Scared, that she did not remember her, Nora was relieved when Caitrin spoke up and told her, “I think I recognise you from some of the open days, I was a student helper.” Nora nodded her head and remembered seeing Caitrin at the information stall, handing out information brochures and maps to the campus. "Yes, I remember seeing you at the information stall," Nora admitted with a smile.
“But I think I remember seeing you on campus a few times. It’s quite a small university anyway isn’t it?” Caitrin commented and Nora agreed, "Yes it is quite small, which quite frankly is good since I suck at finding my way around buildings and such." Nora laughed -- it was true though. The amount of times she had gotten lost going to places and finding things was astounding. So much so, that her father use to tell her that she would probably lose her head if it wasn't screwed on.

Nora waited for Caitrin's response and it was not long until she did. “His progress is encouraging, it has taken away some of the pain.” She smiled at Nora reassuringly and Nora sighed in relief, "That is good." Caitrin then explained to her that she did not want to give him more the potion as it can dull things quite a lot if used in excess. And Nora agreed, "Alright. That sounds fine. I'm just glad that he is feeling better and less in pain." Nora admitted.
Then Caitrin offered kindly, “He can have some more of the potion in a few days, but between now and then the best thing for him is to just keep him comfortable.” Nora, once again could tell that Caitrin felt useless and Nora straight away wanted to reassure her, "Fine. We can arrange for you to come up again to visit and make the potion in case he needs it. Until then, I'll make sure (alone with the maids) that he is comfortable. Though, he seems much more comfortable now. Thanks to you and your potion." Nora smiled up at her in thanks and deep gratitude.
Caitrin then went back to looking over her father, and Nora supposed it was because she wanted to check if she had missed something or was looking for some sign on how she could proceed in his treatment. Nora decided to return her focus and attention back to little Arthur, who had decided that this was the time to grab a bit of her hair, causing Nora to gasp a little before giggling at the little boy. Then he dropped it in favor of his soft toy. “Is he alright?” Caitrin asked Nora softly, craning her neck round so she could see what her son was doing.
"He is fine. He just surprised me by grabbing a bit of my hair. But it's alright. My sister used to do that all the time when she was a babe." Nora told her before she looked down and smiled at little Arthur.

Nora smiled as the Princess told her,"Well, if you do visit Graecia (though you don't have to), I will remember you. You are a sweet and special lady." Blushing a little bit at her compliment -- mostly because the Princess did not know for for very long and thought she was a sweet and special lady already -- Nora thanked her graciously, "Well thank you, Your Highness. I will definitely consider visiting your Kingdom when things are not so busy at home." Nora did not want to put a damper on her conversation by mentioning her sister's death and the strain it had on her father so she did not comment on it.
Finally they arrived to the servant serving the drinks and Nora picked up her own goblet, before nodding her head to the servant in thanks. "Mmm this is very tasty." Polyxena commented happily to her and Nora agreed, "Indeed it is very tasty. But then most of the wines in Camelot are very fine and of good quality." Polyzena then told her that her father would enjoy this wine and Nora asked her kindly and out of curiosity to find out more about this King Magna, "Is your father a great admirer of wine then, Your Highness?"
The Princess then surprised her by asking her to call her Polyxena and not Your Higness, and Nora smiled at the Princess's request before she grinned and told her in kind, "Okay, only if you promise to call me Nora."

Firstly, I wanted to say that I'm so happy and excited that the mods have started this thread! I've been dying for a place to comment on the many great threads and posts! Especially considering that I've been pm'ing the people who's threads I enjoy and hassling them. This is probably better!
Pretty much to get the ball rolling, I would like to say that I enjoy each and every thread that Arthur and Guinevère do on the site! I, of course, have my favs but there are too many to name. But I would like thank you to them for doing my plot prompt, An Unexpected Surprise. Mainly because when I suggested it to them they didn't have to do it, but they were so happy and enthusiastic to do it and it made my day. I'm enjoying that thread so much !
Also I wanted to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying my time threading with Caitrin in our two threads, A Helping Hand and Two Worlds. And since I never comment to Cait about it, I just wanted to say that I really think she does a great job writing her O.C with such intelligence and humor that I constantly can't wait to read her updates on our threads!
I wanted to make a special mention on a new member Princess Polyxena that I have been fortunate enough to work with. I just wanted to say to her that its great that she has joined even though English is her second language. She's so determined to improve her English and I enjoy working with you so much!
That's it from me!

Nora was glad when the Princess smiled back at her for she was a little scared that her approaching her without permission might have angered her. Instead the Princess smiled very sweetly at her and introduced herself and seemed very glad to met her.
Polyxena then asked her if she had ever visited Graecia and Nora was about to respond to her question when the Princess asked her if she could tell her while they went to get some refreshments as she was thirsty.
"Of course, Your Highness." Nora smiled and then began walking towards the servant serving the drinks with the Princess. While they walked to find the servant, who happened to be on the other side of the hall serving drinks, Nora finally got a chance to answer the Princess's earlier question. "No I have not been fortunate to visit Graecia yet, Your Highness. But I've heard many splendid things about your Kingdom." Nora smiled warmly up at the Princess (who was quite taller than Nora) and hoped that she was making a good impression to the Princess.

Caitrin turned round to Nora, and nodded with a smile and Nora knew that while she was smiling, she wasn't too fond of letting her baby go. Which of course she understood as mothers tended to be protective over their children. “If you just cradle your arms I’ll pass him to you.” Caitrin instructed to her and Nora did as she was told and cradled her arms allowing Caitrin to pass the little bundle of joy to her. At first he protested at leaving his mother -- but then he settled down, allowing Nora to look down at the baby and smile at him. Which he returned with a gurgle.
Once Caitrin was satisfied that he was fine, she smiled over at Nora -- which Nora reciprocated -- and took up her herb basket before going over to her father.
While Caitrin was attending to her father, Nora decided to sit with the child on the floor, and placed Arthur in front of her in her lap. She began humming a song that her mother used to sing to her when she was little while Arthur played with his soft stuffed animal. He seemed to really enjoy sticking the animal into his mouth and sucking on it which made Nora laugh. Though, she knew young babies did this -- it still amazed her that they manage to want to stick anything into their mouths, including dirt! Her sister did that once, before getting told of by their very angry nurse-maid.
After a amount of time had passed, Nora looked up to see how things were going. "So how is he?" Nora asked, hopeful that the brew had helped her father somewhat.
Sorry this is late everyone!

Caitrin smiled and ran a hand over her belly as she told her, “It was a shock, seeing as it’ll be my first born. But a happy shock and I’ll have my husband with me anyway, and thank you by the way.” And she looked at Nora and Nora smiled, wondering what she was thinking about.
"It's great that you have a supportive husband then." Nora told her sincerely. For she could not imagine what it would be like to have twins (with someone) let alone if she was a single mother. That would be hard and she was glad that Caitrin was married. Though, she looked young to be married, even if she looked a few years older than herself.
Nora laughed when Caitrin thanked her for asking her about her babies, "There is no need to thank me. I have the tendency of talking a lot when it comes to children." It was true. Ever since she was young she always used to pretend she was a mother taking care of her baby doll. And then when her sister was born, she loved helping her mum take care of her. That was of course till her mother died and she helped her father take care of her instead. So when it came to picking what vocation she wanted to do with her life, it was easy -- teaching!
Caitrin nodded her head and smiled at Nora before returning to do her checks. Caitrin listened with interest as Nora told her that she was studying Early Childhood Teaching. Then she listened as Caitrin responded to her own question on where she had studied.
“I studied at the university of Camelot.” Caitrin said to Nora brightly, before adding, “But I graduated two years ago, so I’ve been working here ever since.” Nora smiled and admired the young woman for deciding to work in a Hospice -- for indeed it was a hard and difficult job for anyone to do, looking after sick people who had not much chance of living for much longer.
Caitrin then asked Nora where she is studying and Nora laughed and smiled, before saying, "The same university that you attended, University of Camelot." Fancy that, Nora thought. Though really when she thought about it most people in Camelot went to the University of Camelot or to another one in another state. So its very common to meet loads of people there. "I must admit you did look familiar before and now I know why." Nora admitted and hoped that Caitrin remembered her and was not the only one who did.

Prince Arthur's birthday celebration was in full swing and Nora was having a great time. For it was nice to see Prince Arthur enjoying himself seeing as his father was was finally out and enjoying himself with his son after spending the last year in his bed-chambers -- too consumed with grief over his daughter's attempts to steal his throne.
Nora looked around the room and saw lots of nobles she knew and many she did not know, but there was one particular lady -- who looked like she was a Princess if the crown on her head was any indication -- that caught her eye. She seemed very sweet and Nora saw that the Princess looked like she was scanning the room looking for someone to talk with. So picking up her skirts, she walked over to where the Princess was standing, stood in front of her and curtsied low before smiling up at her and saying, "Good Evening, Your Highness. My name is Lady Elenora and it is a pleasure to meet you."

Nora noticed him smiling at her last words,"That does sound like Gwen." She nodded her head in perfect agreement. Then she saw his expression change and Nora had a feeling that it had to do with the fact that he had left Camelot for a few years abandoning his father and sister -- according to the maids that worked in the castle. And Nora knew he obviously felt guilty at having done so. Especially when their father had died and Gwen was left alone. Nora knew what it was like to lose a parent, but at least she had her father and sister, where as Gwen had no one. So she could understand why Elyan would be feeling guilty but did not comment on it for it felt out of place for her to do so.
Well that was at least before he asked her a little hesitantly, "Is she...well when you see her does she look...happy?" Nora found that a hard question to answer as she did not live in Camelot full-time or spend much time with Gwen (as she was a servant and she was a noblewoman), so she tried the best she could to give him a answer that was honest but would not make him feel so bad. "Honestly, I do not live in the castle full-time, but whenever I see her she always looks happy with her life. Though, of course we all have our moments when we are not so happy," She told him honestly, before adding, "But overall your sister always seems to make the best of everything." Nora hoped that what she said was alright and did not make him feel so bad. She knew that nothing anyone could say could ease his guilt for leaving his family, but she hoped that maybe after some time he would feel less guilty and make the best of his life here.
Nora looked up at him a little unsure if she had a right to ask this question, but feeling like she should -- for some unknown reason, "How are things with your sister since you have returned to Camelot?" Nora asked him gently, before she added, "If you don't mind me asking that is."

The feast was in full swing and Nora was thoroughly enjoying herself. Most likely because her sister decided that instead of spending a lot of time with her beau, she would spend some quality time with her sister (and not trying to set her up!).
Nora was thirsty so she headed to one of the servants who was serving the drinks when suddenly he dropped the tray. Then she heard one of the ladies making a cruel comment a few paces from them. Nora looked up and saw that it was indeed Lady Dracose and her direwolf. Though Nora had not met the lady, her father had told her a few stories about her. And her father was right. She was a spoiled brat and so heartless and inconsiderate to other people's feelings!
Noticing the look upon the servant's face at his accident and the lady's cruel comment, Nora decided to give him a hand cleaning up the mess. Not at all worried at how it would look for a noblewomen to be seen helping a servant clean up their mess. "Here. Let me help you," Nora offered as she bent down and began picking up the fallen glasses. Not before giving the Lady Dracose a pointed stare. Nora was not normally one to do this, but she had never heard anyone as mean as Lady Dracose in her entire life. And that was saying something!
